wow. some great looking matches. the Gamesmasters showed they are the future and the Estorians kept their titles. a future clash here for those belts. run run as fat as you can Estorians, the Gamesmasters are coming for the tag team titles. Omega and Mangus had a hell of a fight Cmdr. Sam and Keller are always something to see win or lose well Morpheus has done it. he beat Caelum and is now the king of the mountain. but its a rocky spot as the challengers are going to line up fast, especially those with solid wins over the Natural Disaster. Caelum ever the champion's champion passes it over classy and with honor. what a night it was

GWF Classics #77: 2079 Year End Awards 12.31.2079 from GWF Studios, Deimos, Mars
- GWF News - -Morpheus has finally captured the Galaxian Championship. The GWF Board has been hard at work deciding on his initial challenger at the Deimos Perennial and the rumors are running rampant from Omega to Keller to an unknown challenger.
-One competitor we know it won't be is Torin Caelum. For more on that, let's go to the man himself. TORIN CAELUM: Time waits for no man. I made a deal with myself last year. If I could win the Galaxian championship, I'd wrestle until I lost it. Morpheus bested me at Galaxies Collide and my time ran out. I'm not ready to call it quits just yet, though. But I am announcing that 2080 will be my last year in competition. As such, I will no longer compete for titles, but I will tour the galaxy with the GWF to say goodbye to old friends, familiar places, and enemies and rivals. I can't thank Omega, Morpheus, and the GWF board for taking a shot on a veteran and giving me opportunities to show the universe what true technical wrestling looks like. I've climbed the highest mountains. I'm the first GWF champ, a title I've held twice. I was a tag team champion with El Virtuoso. I've done everything that can be done. Retirement beckons. But there is one last challenge for me in the GWF. I will enter the F-Cup Tournament this July. Win or lose, I will call it a day after that. Thank you all.
-The board and Caelum are working hard to decide who his opponent will be at the Deimos Perennial.
-The Estorians tag team titles will be on the line and the board has determined that Paladin Power, arguable the greatest tag team in GWF history will get the shot! The Gamemasters were hoping their showing at Galaxies Collide would get them the shot, but instead, they'll face the challenge of the Windriders, one last time in a cosmic cage! Their rivalry raged across the universe and while Cosmos and Star Warrior seemingly finished them off at Galaxies Collide, the fans wanted one more match and they will get it!
-Commander Sam and Mangus will finally meet in the barbed wire steel cage! The winner of this match will claim the blood feud! For now. Is there any likelihood that this will truly be the end? Omega and the board hope so.
-A Mighty Debut is promised at Deimos! Omega has scouted and the board has signed this Cetus native to the GWF. Who is he? Who will his opponent be? We're told the man stands nearly 6'6" and is over 300 pounds. No doubt he'll be a powerful competitor and one of the largest men in the GWF.
-With debuts, we also must speak of departures. It was a strange year in the GWF. Harley Marlboro lost a Loser Leaves Town match to Omega, Screw announced his retirement after losing the GWF title, but winning his feud with Santon. Santon, too, headed for where he was from. And, it's official, former tag champs, Cordsar and Trotarus have departed the GWF, but in an interesting twist, they are no longer partners, the sees of dissent sown right here in the GWF, they are now apparently in a heated feud in the new Mensan Wrestling Federation!
-The annual year end awards are moments away and we have some surprises along the way!
- Rookie of the Year - The Estorians There was little doubt that the undefeated and reigning tag team champs would win the award here. They'll face their biggest challenge yet, though, against Paladin Power at the Deimos Perennial!
Previous Winners: No award was given in 2074 (due to the short year) or 2075. 2076: Cosmos 2077: Mangus 2078: Hechilles
- Galaxian Tag Team Champions - Defiance (Blood & Jammer) - 12/25/2078-8/25/2079 (244 days, 4 defenses) The Estorians (Parsec & Tantalis) - 8/25/2079-present.
The tag ranks saw Defiance continue their first reign until they met the seemingly unstoppable Estorians
- Rivalry of the Year - Windriders vs Gamemasters - these four young men battled in both tag and singles competition and faced off in numerous match types including POW Rules and Milky Way Falls Count Anywhere. The bad blood runs deep and it still isn't over. They'll meet inside the Cosmic Cage at Deimos.
Runner-up: Caelum vs Keller - It's not every year we recognize a runner up, but this year, for multiple reasons, Keller and Caelum deserve mention. Though they only met a couple of times, each match was not only superb with a big fight feel, but was informed by the storied history between the two. They are undoubtedly two of the finest competitors in the short history of the GWF and both have held the Galaxian title. Both are also, admittedly in the twilight of their respective careers. Classic matches and incredible competition are hall marks of these two mens rivalry.
- GWF Galaxian Champions - Omega - 2/22/77 - 1/22/79 (2nd reign, 700 days, 11 defenses, tying his previous record); Harley Marlboro - 1/22/79 - 3/11/79 (49 days, 1 defense); Santon the Loner - 3/11/79-4/22/79 (43 days, 1 defense); Screw 4/22/79-5/12/79 (21 days, no successful defense); Torin Caelum 5/12/79-11/26/79 (2nd reign, 199 days, 3 defenses); Morpheus 11/26/79-Present.
2079 saw more title changes than the entire combined history of the Galaxian Championship. It was a hotly contested year, to be sure. In fact, prior to 2079, there had been just 3 Galaxian champions with 4 reigns. By the end of the year, we had 5 title changes with 4 new champions. Torin Caelum became only the second man to have a second reign with the title. Morpheus capturing the title put him in the ranks with only Omega and Caelum as holding both the Galaxian and Tag Team titles. Also, worth noting, that by the end of the year, that Harley Marlboro, Santon, Screw, and Caelum had either moved on from the GWF or announced their retirements.
- GWF Tag Team of the Year - The Estorians
There was never any doubt. Undefeated rookies and current tag champs, Parsec and Tantalis made an immediate impact and are easily the best tag team in the GWF today. Of course, they face a challenge from arguable the best tag team the GWF has ever seen in Paladin Power at Deimos Perennial.
Former Winners: 2074-2075: The Guardians (Omega & Morpheus) 2076: The Guardians (Omega & Morpheus) 2077: Paladin Power(Moonstrike & Solar Flare) 2078: Torin Caelum & El Virtuoso (UWA)
- Deimos Perennial '80 Card Announcement - GWF Classics #78: Deimos Perennial '80 01.06.2080 from Deimos Intergalactic Arean, Deimos, Mars
The Mighty Debut Match will kick off the card!
Imperial Alliance vs. The Crosscurrents
Hechilles & Caiman vs. Defiance
Torin Caelum vs. Omega - A challenge match asked for by Omega and accepted by Torin Caelum. Rumor has it these two may have negotiated a best 5 series as a part of Caelum's retirement tour!
- 2/3 Falls - Estorians vs. Paladin Power for the Galaxian Tag Team Championship - The biggest challenge for the Estorians yet! Can Paladin Power become 2-time champs! Or will the Estorians continue to build an unstoppable legacy?
- Cosmic Cage - The Windriders vs. The Gamemasters - The Gamemasters may have to wait a bit longer before finally getting that tag title opportunity, but they'll face their heated rivals in what could be the capper to this feud!
- Barbed Wire Cosmic Cage - Commander Sam vs. Mangus - This has been years in the making! They traded victories and spilled blood in arenas all over the galaxy! Will this see the end of the bitterest blood feud in GWF history? Or will it become another chapter in the war?
- 2/3 Falls - Morpheus vs. K.O. Keller for the Galaxian Championship - The GWF Board has decided to give the title shot to KO Keller! While Keller's tag partner battled in a barbed wire cage, Keller gets one more shot at the richest prize in the game. Can he climb to the top of the mountain again? Or will his title opportunities run out after a loss here?
- Wrestler of the Year - Torin Caelum
The Sagitta Strangler had an incredible year. Not only did he go undefeated with the exception of a controversial DQ loss to Mangus, but he recaptured the Galaxian title and defended it with honor and skill for the better part of the year. Though he may have announced his retirement by the end of 2080, he was at the top of his game for all of 2079.
Previous Winners: 2074-2075: Omega 2076: Omega 2077: Omega 2078: Omega That's right, Omega, for the first time is not wrestler of the year. Some of this could be chalked up to his decision to focus more on scouting talent and not be in the running for the title, however it should be noted that Commander Sam was able to get two quality wins over the living legend. Will 2080 see a resurgence or are Omega's winning days behind him?

Well deserved honor for Torin... And I'm very pleased that the Estorians (probably my favorite EC duo) were able to take award for tag team and rookie(s) of the year...
The Perennial looks like it's going to really set the bar high for the upcoming year... Can't wait!

GWF Classics #78: Deimos Perennial '80 01.06.2080 from Deimos Intergalactic Arean, Deimos, Mars
Mighty Grogan vs. Silvar Mighty Grogan defeated Silvar with a lariat at 5:37 Match Rating: 0.10 Match Notes: The show kicks off with a massive amount of pyro and the fans are going crazy. Itβs one of the largest Deimos crowds ever and they are ready for action!
Silvar is in the ring and will be the first opponent for our Mighty debut.
Then the lights go out and a strain of piano music begins followed by horns and then a distorted chord of electric guitar followed by a chorus signing the word βMightyβ!
Itβs Mighty Grogan! A power lifter and competitor from Cetus Championship Wrestling where he was a multi-time champ! Draped in a blue cape, he makes his way to the ring to a great reaction from the crowd. Deimos fans know their wrestling and CCW is probably one of the most watched feds after the GWF.
And it truly was a mighty debut. Grogan destroyed Silvar. Silvar was able to resist the UPPER CRUSH, but was taken apart with a variety of moves, including the DDT, Russian Sickle, brain buster, and finally a huge clothesline that get the Mighty Grogan a win in his debut match.
Afterwards, he lifts his fist in the air and the crowd shouts "Mighty". Imperial Alliance vs. The Crosscurrents Ricken Prince defeated Vortex with a ROYAL DECREE at 8:58 Match Rating: 3.00 Match Notes: Solid tag bout that saw Prince and Mimic finally start to gel as a team. Prince seemed to have a renewed fire. Towards the end of 2079 and in previous years, he'd been a bit lazy, wanting other to do his bidding and cheating to win. This was a more focused athletic Prince.
He and mimic hit a double team that saw Mimic use a flying leg scissors and then Prince drop a big running knee that led to ROYAL DECREE for the win.
Hechilles & Caiman vs. Defiance Hechilles defeated Blood with THE END at 3:48 Match Rating: 2.50 Match Notes: Jammer and Blood are former tag team champs and came out of the gate with solid tag work and big moves against Hechilles.
Blood scored a near fall after a swinging neck breaker, but then things took a turn...
Blood shot Hechilles into the ropes and got caught with a sunset flip! 1, 2, no!
THE END! Hechilles spikes him with it!
Jammer tries to make the save, but Caiman cut him off!
Hechilles and Caiman get the win! Big victory. And these two are on their way to a title shot soon.
Torin Caelum vs. Omega Torin Caelum defeated Omega with a CAELUM'S GRIP at 14:01 Match Rating: 4.00 Match Notes: It's only natural that when you get two of the greats in the ring that magic will happen.
These two had a great, if short by their standards match, trading holds and near falls. In fact, Caelum survived both the COSMIC WAR DANCE and TOMAHAWK THRUST!
Eventually, he came back with a huge shoulder breaker and immediately went for CAELUM'S GRIP to get the win!
Caelum takes out Omega in the first match of his retirement year! A handshake caps things off for a great show of sportsmanship. Omega says "Again?" and Caelum simply smiles and nods!
Looks like we're going to get a series between the two as rumored!
- 2/3 Falls - Estorians vs. Paladin Power for the Galaxian Tag Team Championship Solar Flare defeated Parsec with a PALADIN MISSILE at 50:37 Tantalis defeated Moonstrike with a spin cradle at 42:51 This match ended in a draw (TIME LIMIT DRAW) at 60:00 Match Rating: 5.00 Match Notes: If there was any doubt about who the elite tag teams in the galaxy are, there could be no doubt after this match.
For 60 minutes these men gave everything they had. Too much action to call, but suffice it to say that they used everything in the book and there were multiple near falls and finishers. Solar Flare, Moonstrike, and Parsec bled buckets and did things that defied the limits of human stamina.
Tantalis scored the first fall on Parsec after a series of moves included his patented SUPERKICK and a pair of spine cradles.
Not to be out-done Paladin Power came back and evened it up with Moonstrike hitting PALADIN MISSILE on Parsec!
Of course, that was after over 40 minutes of back and forth brawling action. And make no mistake both teams brought the hate and used chairs and tables behind the ref's back.
It was a five-star classic and all four men would need medical attention after this one, but the result is a time limit draw with a fall apiece... Unbelievable.
You gotta think that Paladin Power will get a rematch... Right?
The Estorians retain in one of the best tag matches in history. Harkening back to the 2074 classics between Paladin Power and the Guardians.
- Cosmic Cage - The Windriders vs. The Gamemasters Star Warrior defeated Rama with a CETUS SLEEPER at 27:33 Match Rating: 4.25 Match Notes: While it was going to be hard to compete with the previous bout, this one certainly came close.
Cosmos and Rama were both wearing the crimson mask when the bell rang and there was tons of great back and forth tag team action with some near falls.
The finishing stretch saw the Gamemaster really step it up and begin executing like the very best with a multitude of double team maneuvers.
Star Warrior nearly won with the Nova Blast, but he would immediately lock in the CETUS SLEEPER to give his team the win and put an exclamation point on this feud.
Great stuff. And you have to think it's either the Gamemasters or Hechilles & Caiman that are next in line for a title shot. Of course after the last bout, they may have to wait for Paladin Power/Estorians round 2!
- Barbed Wire Cosmic Cage - Commander Sam vs. Mangus Commander Sam defeated Mangus with a slingshot suplex at 18:18 Match Rating: 4.25 Match Notes: Wow. This was not for the faint of heart. A gory hardcore masterpiece.
Sam came into the match injured after the actions of Paladin Power at Galaxies Collide. The fans were securely in his corner and he may have gotten the biggest reaction of the night.
These two jockeyed back and forth for position at the beginning with neither man sustaining an advantage. Sam tasted the barbed wire first and was busted open and Mangus went right after him. Pummeling him with blows and big moves.
But Sam came back with a vengeance and soon Mangus was a mess! He was bleeding from his face and arms and Sam began kicking him from pillar to post, but Mangus kept getting the shoulder up.
Eventually a huge superplex led to a slingshot suplex and Sam more or less collapsed on Mangus to get the 1, 2, 3! The fans exploded as a bloody, exhausted, and hurting Sam got his arm raised in victory!
Mangus was going to medical attention for sure. As well as some time off.
This win puts Sam back at the top of the rankings and earns him a victory in a longstanding blood feud.
- 2/3 Falls - Morpheus vs. K.O. Keller for the Galaxian Championship K.O. Keller defeated Morpheus with THE TEN COUNT at 17:36 Morpheus defeated K.O. Keller with a roll up at 26:18 K.O. Keller defeated Morpheus with THE TEN COUNT at 30:39 Match Rating: 4.00 Match Notes: Well, sometimes you climb the highest mountain only to be brought low again.
Morpheus certainly fought hard, but Keller came to play and used his considerable arsenal to score the first fall, but Morpheus would come back out of no where to roll Keller up for the second fall.
It was anybody's game, but Keller split Morpheus open above the right eye with repeated punches from the KO Flurry. Morpheus was wearing the crimson mask in no time and was barely standing when Keller finally caught him with another TEN COUNT for the 1, 2, 3!
KO Keller has become a two time champ! Fans are stunned. Morpheus need help to get to the back, but you can be damned sure he'll want his rematch.
Great match all around with lots of back and forth action, but it's KO Keller who stands tall as the Deimos Perennial comes to a close.
Overall Card Rating: 3.39

Oh, snap! The potential legacy of the Natural Disaster is brought to an abrupt halt with the TEN COUNT... And the new year begins with KO Keller is champion... Did not see that coming... Morpheus needs to rethink his gameplan and figure out a way to make a lasting impression at the top...
The cage matches certainly did not disappoint with the Gamemasters and Commander Sam coming out on top of their respective encounters... Excited to see Cosmos and Star Warrior get a crack at the tag belts... Even though it could cause problems for the Estorians - Who retained after being taken to the absolute limit by Paladin Power...
Superb debut for Mighty Grogan... Looks like he's really got the support of the fans...
2080 kicks off in spectacular fashion... Awesome work!

what a night! MIGHTY! always got a kick out of the powerhouse. didn't care for him in later years but his classic era had some great matches. Torin Caelum's final tour begins with an impressive win over Omega. the tag team title match ends in a nail biting draw of all things! maybe a best of 7 series tour? Cmdr. Sam and the Gamesmasters succeeded in their trials. gack! Morpheus's train derailed before it left the station! what a...disappointment. all that to finally get the belt and drops it his first defense. wow. great Perennial
