DSCW OPENS FIRST FULL YEAR
Deep Space Championship Wrestling presented its first card of 2113 on January 29 at the Milky Way Cathedral of Polaris. A few hours before the card, Interim Commissioner “Trainer” Jim Powell held a press conference to open the year.
“Welcome, everyone, to the real first year of Deep Space Championship Wrestling,” Powell began. “I have called this press conference to make a couple of announcements and then to present our talent roster for this year.
“First, as you know, all three of our cards last year were held here at the Milky Way Cathedral, as will be tonight’s card. Polaris is our home base, and thus a fair number of our cards will continue to be held here. However, we will soon take our show on the road to other locations in this general area of the Galaxy, including Rigel, Andromeda, Orion, Centaurus, and others. We have reached agreements with the GWF and the USWF to grant us primary rights to present in certain locations in this quadrant and those nearby, so look for us to expand our promotional area soon.
“Second, regarding my full-time replacement as commissioner, we will make that announcement at the beginning of tonight’s card. We do have an agreement in place, and all of us involved with overseeing DSCW are very pleased.
“Tonight’s card will be dedicated entirely to our tournament to crown the first DSCW Heavyweight Champion. We will hold the first two rounds of the tournament tonight and continue it in coming weeks, overlapping with the beginning of the tag team championship tournament.”
“Finally, as promised, we have several new wrestlers joining us this year. From the USWF we welcome Black Hawk, Tarloc, and Vascor. Also new to our federation are Ryuujin, Daeron Blackoak, and Drake the Black Tiger. We will also have to more additions who will be fighting as independent wrestlers, but they both wish to announce themselves later on tonight.
“And now, I would like to present the roster that will open 2113 for DSCW.”
Powell then announced the following team groupings and feud opponents:
Mook’s Marauders (Keth Vale, Dillion Mason, Brock Mason and the Mook) vs. Atlantis Rising (Daeron Blackoak, Thalian Nyzea, and Vonrael Nyzea). The Nyzea brothers, also known as Elvin Glory, have brought in the huge newcomer Blackoak to oppose Keth Vale. Blackoak is a war leader for the Elves of Atlantis and is sworn to guide his team to dominance. The Mook will operate mostly as a manager for his team, although he will continue to wrestler fairly regularly. Fans may have difficulty deciding which team to cheer for in this matchup.
Tribal Pride (“Apache” Steve Sampson, Black Hawk, and Collin Redfeather) vs. Animal Instinct (Drake the Black Tiger, Cutthroat, and the Beast). Black Hawk, one of the top stars in the USWF for the past ten years, will join Redfeather in a tag team called “Native Uprising.” Primal Fear (Cutthroat and Beast) have brought in Drake the Black Tiger, an import from Dimension X, to battle Sampson.
The Straight Shooters (Zachary Storm, Ciber Naught, Sean “Surge” Williams, and Michael “Rush” Collins) vs. Supreme Dominance (Baron Michael Strauss, Stone Mountain, Eddio Dio, and Mr. Vain). The arrogant Strauss has put together a team of men willing to follow his orders in Stone Mountain and the tag team Vicious and Delicious. Storm seems overmatched in challenging Strauss, but the veteran insists that he still has some big wins left.
Oriental Odyssey (Sho Jyn-Roh and Ryuujin) vs. Manta and Big Bubba Butcher.
Jyn-Roh has joined with the newcomer Ryuujin to form a tag team that will oppose Butcher and Manta.
Bounty For Hire (Tarloc and Vascor). The multiple time USWF tag team champions come to DSCW after Tarloc was banished due to Penthouse Suite’s USWF Sudden Death loss in 2112. Vascor has worked primarily as a manager for the past two years, so the team may have lost a step.
Independent Wrestlers: Behemyth, Ka’shii, and Mike “Tank” Abrams. Behemyth and Abrams will square off to see which of the strongmen is more dominant. The loner Ka’shii appears to be targeting Drake the Black Tiger.
??: Who was the masked man that attacked Keth Vale on the last card of 2112? Was the move he hit Vale with really the “Bullwhip”? And who is the other surprise wrestler promised by Interim Commissioner Powell?
DSCW BEGINS TITLE TOURNAMENT
Deep Space Championship Wrestling presented its first card of 2113 on January 29 at the Milky Way Cathedral of Polaris. The card was comprised of the first two rounds of the tournament to crown the first DSCW Heavyweight Champion. Before the action began, Interim Commissioner “Trainer” Jim Powell addressed the audience.
“This federation is off to great start,” Powell stated. “We’ve seen some terrific action already. But we’ve also had some controversy: a masked man attacking Keth Vale at the end of our final 2112 card, and of course the unexpected arrival of Mesmer, who I see is sitting in the audience again tonight. We need someone who can keep order and control here, and we believe we have found that man. Without further delay, I present to you the new commissioner of DSCW: Phantast!”
The arena went dark for a moment, and a bright flash of light hit the ring. When the lights came back up, Powell was gone and Phantast stood in his place.
“I’m happy to be here,” the new commissioner said. “I will indeed keep things under control, and that includes you, Mesmer. You’ll be hearing more from me in coming weeks, but for now let’s get the tournament started. Bring out the first match!”
DSCW Heavyweight Championship Tournament Round One:
Baron Michael Strauss defeated Zachary Storm
Time: 3:29
Storm put up a surprisingly good fight, giving Strauss perhaps his toughest test yet since coming to DSCW, but in the end the Baron won with the “Strauss Trap.”
Ka’shii defeated Big Bubba Butcha
Time: 1:49
The cat-like Ka’shii had no trouble as he put Bubba away with a “Chill Factor.”
“Apache” Steve Sampson defeated Drake the Black Tiger
Time: 3:54
In the first match of what is expected to be a major feud this year, Sampson completely dominated his opponent in Drake’s DSCW debut. The Apache won the match with his “Arial Assault” finisher.
Ciber Naught defeated Daeron Blackoak
Time: 6:75
This match marked the debut of the gigantic leader of the Atlantis Elves. Blackoak, standing 7’5” and dashingly handsome, made a major impression just by stepping into the ring. However, Ciber Naught fought a tremendous match, and in the end he was able to upset the huge newcomer with a “Terminal Destruction.”
Behemyth defeated Sho Jun-Roh
Time: 2:34
The towering Behemyth remained unbeaten in DCSW by pounding Jyn-Roh with a “Deathbomb.”
Manta defeated Stone Mountain
Time: 7:02
This outstanding match was a back-and-forth affair until Manta caught Stone Mountain with a “Stinger” for the win.
Black Hawk defeated Keth Vale
Time: 3:08
One of the most popular and successful wrestlers in USWF history, Black Hawk made his DCSW debut by defeating Vale with a “Hawkwing.”
For the final match of the first round, Mike “Tank” Abrams was introduced first. Then his opponent emerged from the dressing room, wearing the same black mask he had worn when he attacked Keth Vale on the final card of 2112. When the masked man reached the ring, he reached up and uncovered his face, revealing to the audience the identity of a man everyone knew very well but had not seen in more than three years: The Matador of M83.
Mike “Tank” Abrams defeated the Matador of M83
Time: 4:18
Despite his dramatic entrance, the Matador went down to Abrams’ power attack and was pinned after a “Sidewinder.”
DSCW Heavyweight Championship Tournament Round Two:
Baron Michael Strauss defeated Ka’shii
Time: 1:58
This time Strauss looked to have hit his stride, crushing Ka’shii with an “Imperial Decree” in less than two minutes.
“Apache” Steve Sampson defeated Ciber Naught
Time: 0:20
This match was over before it could even begin as Sampson caught a tired Ciber Naught off guard and flattened him with an “Arial Assault” for the quick pin.
Between matches, an image from the backstage area appeared on the arena’s video screens. Lying on the floor, apparently unconscious, was Sho Jyn-Roh. Standing over him was a demonic looking individual, not a large figure but lanky, who appeared essentially human except for his pointed ears, pasty white skin, and long, sharp fangs.
“I thought this would be a good way to introduce myself,” the strange figure announced. “My name is Bloodstorm. I am from Preplanus, Draco. I’m not entered in this little tournament, but I’ll earn my title shot soon enough. As for this weakling,” he added as he motioned toward the prone Jyn-Roh, “he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. But others will fall, just as he obviously did. Beware of me, everyone. And watch over your shoulders: you never know where I’ll be.”
Behemyth defeated Manta
Time: 2:55
Manta put up a fight, but the size and strength of Behemyth were just too much for him as he went down to a “Deathbomb.”
Mike “Tank” Abrams defeated Black Hawk
Time: 1:49
Abrams continued on his roll by pounding another of the fastest wrestlers in the federation, hammering Black Hawk with a “Sidewinder” for the win.
After the card, Phantast spoke to the media. “Our next card, which will take place at the Alpheratz Sun Tower of Andromeda on February 8, will feature the conclusion of the heavyweight title tournament and the beginning of the tag team tournament. Also, since Keth Vale and the Matador of M83 are both out of this tournament, I think they should get into the ring so Vale can have his chance to even the score for the sneak attack in December.
“As for Bloodstorm, he will be fined for attacking Sho Jyn-Roh. But yes, he is signed as a member of our roster. He’s an excellent talent, but he will learn that backstage sneak attacks will have consequences here.
