POW Exclusive Interview with Dread Knight
-- Dynamo caught up for a few minutes with incoming Dread Knight, the self-proclaimed son of GWF wrestling Death Knight.
-- Dynamo (Dy): With all due respect, there is some truth to Matinee Idol's claims that your father was one of the worst wrestlers in GWF history. He never had much success.... -- Dread Knight (DK): My father was not successful, no. But do you know what he was? He was loyal. He was tough. He never backed down from a challenge, even against guys who were much better. He was a man of very few words. -- Dy: Something that can't be said of Matinee Idol. -- DK: Matinee Idol is a revolting person. For someone who hasn't proven a thing in his career, other than that he has a gigantic ego and big mouth, to come out and disparage my father and make him the butt of jokes in some ridiculous script....it made me sick to hear that. Then have to hear it again. -- Dy: So you're a fighter in your own right. -- DK: My father is not an affectionate man. He was as removed and distant at home oftentimes as he was in the limelight. But he was a good father. And he trained me to fight. When I got old enough, I went my own way and trained MMA style in some pretty underground areas. I fought for literally my life in dingy arenas, alleys, and sewers. Yeah, I'm a fighter. I may not be the toughest or the quickest or the strongest....but I have my father's bravery and drive. -- Dy: You aren't under contract from POW, are you? The roster is pretty much set in stone until at least summer.... -- DK: No, I'm here on a fight-by-fight salary. When I begged to be allowed to fight that braggart Polter, Commissioner Hood made out a deal where I can fight here and there. I doubt I'll be here long, or on many cards....but I'll stick around at least long enough to punish Matinee Idol dearly for his slights on my father. -- Dy: Where's your father now? He pretty much dropped out of the public eye completely after his Sudden Death banning. -- DK: My father does not seek attention, so I will not give it to him. Suffice to say, he is alive and well, and while we don't see each other very often, he knows I am here to fight for his honor. Even at his age, I think he could teach Idol a lesson or two himself -- he has always stayed in shape. But he is a private man, and I doubt any of you will see him again. -- Dy: So you're here on a limited basis, and you want to shut up Matinee Idol. Anything else you'd like to say? -- DK: I'd like to thank POW fans for embracing me. I'm humble enough to realize it may have less to do with me and more to do with Matinee Idol being an insufferable jerk who makes enemies every time he opens his mouth....but I appreciate the support anyway. I know Idol got the better of me in our first encounter, but that's going to change. We'll be fighting again in two cards, and I will stop him this time. -- Dy: Thanks for you time.

POW Fighter Frenzy III MMA Madness Series (3 of 5) Pleiades Stadium of Heroes
-- Commissioner Hood announced that the same treatment would be happening for the super heavyweights -- 3 matches.....the best 2 winners will advance to determine #1 contention. -- As he was talking, Indigo stormed out, making his way all the way to the ring amidst a perplexed crowd. He got in the ring, grabbed Hood's mic, and snapped, "So it's business as usual in the super heavyweight division, is it?" -- Hood, looking supremely annoyed by the interruption, replied, "Aye, and it be a division yer not a part of...." -- Indigo shook his head. "No, no, I'm not. But a certain super heavyweight concerns me greatly. Your champion Puma! I've been on the shelf because of that despicable attack he gave me, with those two goons. And he gets a slap on the wrist!" -- Hood sighed. "Puma....and yer 'two goons' were all suspended. What would ye have me do...." -- "I'd have you strip the title from that animal! Suspended champions should lose their titles. He deserves punishment. That attack was completely unwarranted!" -- "Indigo, ye'd best get out of me ring. I'll be dealin' with matters on me own. Thanks for yer....advice." -- Indigo started pacing, then finally threw up his hands and snarled, "Fine. If you won't listen to reason, I'll talk to the president." With that, he stormed out.
Labyrinth -vs- Glaive Referee: Ven Riksash -- These two local Pleaides fighters got nice pops from the crowd. The heavyweights are two of the more popular MMA guys in the region, and were given this huge opportunity to showcase their skills on a grander stage. -- Labyrinth looked like he was going to win in a squash, as he unloaded punches on Glaive and had him rocked. Glaive absorbed several blows before he could even get a move in -- but as soon as he did, he made it count. -- A combination of punches followed by a vicious kick sent Labyrinth down in a heap, and this one was over! Labyrinth was busted open and knocked out. Medics attended to him as Glaive pumped his fists and celebrated in front of the home crowd! Glaive - TKO - right, left punch, right kick
Rubicon -vs- Silas Referee: Ven Riksash -- Rubicon obviously is always a heavy favorite in SH contention, but he may have a hard time winning Hood's support after what has to be considered a lackluster performance. The easy-going Silas managed to get some nasty hits in, and had Rubicon dazed a few times. -- In the end, Rubicon turned some clinching into a nasty slam that took the wind out of Silas and ended this fight. Rubicon - KO - belly to belly falling slam
Gunnar -vs- JJ Smooth Referee: Ven Riksash -- Gunnar drew the most favorable opponent tonight, and certainly didn't squander the opportunity. In his first action since POW Undisputed, the refreshed Gunnar was all over Smooth from the bell, and put him out within seconds! Gunnar - KO - right to head, left to stomach
Mensar -vs- Hanuman Referee: Xerxes Mandor -- Though not as quick as the previous match, this one was a landslide too. Mensar and Hanuman both took time off after POW Undisputed, but Hanuman's losing ways continued here. Mensar had him shaken and groggy quickly, before the ref separated them after an illegal punch to the back of the head by Hanuman. When the ref said, "Continue", Mensar launched at his opponent with an incredible knee that cracked sickeningly into Hanuman's skull. Game over. Mensar - KO - charging knee
-- The commissioner announced that Mensar and Gunnar will advance to face for #1 contention in the super heavyweight division.
MAIN EVENT for the #1 Contention in the Heavyweight Division Jack of Diamonds -vs- Absalom Referee: Xerxes Mandor -- The unlikely story of Jack's rise in the heavyweight division seemed destined for a letdown, but it didn't happen tonight. With the crowd solidly behind the underdog, Jack held his own in what was an outstanding match. -- Jack gained momentum as time went on and had Absalom beaten, but then his younger foe started coming back. Jack struggled to find his offense, and found himself on the mat and overwhelmed. -- The ref found a stretch of grappling to be too slow and broke it up. When it resumed, Jack managed to regain his focus and turned this one around. He rained fists upon Absalom, getting him to the mat, then mounted and punched, punched, punched....until the ref pulled him off and called for the bell! Jack is the #1 contender! What an amazing story. Jack of Diamonds - KO - mounted punches

POW Special Report
-- The POW has confirmed that it will be cycling in wrestlers and MMA fighters with per-match contracts. Fighter Frenzy III already kicked this off, having Pleiades local notables Glaive and Labyrinth kick off the show.
-- In addition to local MMA fighters, POW has shocked the industry by announcing they have worked out part-time, per-match contracts with two GWFZ wrestlers. Harm and GWFZ Television Champion Ares have left the struggling GWF developmental league, and have stated they want to give MMA a try. Harm publicly stated that "a few more guys have said they are leaving too".
-- The POW has reiterated that their roster will remain the same, and that these signings are simply to cater to local fanbases and add variety to undercards. Combatants like Harm and Labyrinth will in no way affect the wildly-successful goings on of the MMA format of the federation.
-- The first MMA-only pay-per-view will take place after Fighter Frenzy V, and will take place at Planet POW in the Pleaides. It will be called POW Wreckage, and is expected to sell out quickly. Already confirmed is Shylock defending the Heavyweight Title against Cinderella-story Jack of Diamonds.
-- President Prodigy, despite rumors that he is focusing on the wrestling product while Hood focuses on MMA, is reportedly looking into Indigo's complaint about Puma being allowed to keep his Super Heavyweight MMA Title despite a 6-fight suspension. Indigo added after Fighter Frenzy III that he doesn't want to come across as a complainer, but that it is an outrage that a guy and his gang injure a fellow combatant for no reason, and essentially get a slap on the wrist. With the already tense relationship between Prodigy and Hood existing, some insiders are wondering if Prodigy will take the opportunity to step in.

Wow! Go, Jack, go! I'll still be amazed if he beats Shylock, but apparently stranger things have happened.
Funny that your GWFZ is "struggling." Mine isn't even started yet!

I can't run multiple feds, so I'm not going to try. I figured I'd pluck a very select handful of GWFZ guys to make appearances in POW, and leave it at that. I guess it's high praise to POW that I haven't played my GWF fed since last fall either.
Jack amazes me lately....but yeah, I'll be stunned if he matches Shylock's dominance.

Wow. I like Jack--I like him a great deal. But Shylock is a beast. I think it's pumpkin-time for the underdog.
Which is a sad thing. He was always one of my favorites, and I'd like to see him get one more run at the top before he goes the way of Ric Flair.

As far as Jack goes, in my own fed, on the wrestling side, he and Excalibur just scored a big upset to win the tag belts from the Punks, so while I thought his title-holding days were over, evidently they're not!
I like both those characters, but I have to say I'm pulling for the old guy.

Great cards Aquinas, looking forward to more. Actually rooting for Jack and TK (he's close to making a face turn in my fed as I bring in the "real" True Way).
