POW Fallout Alpha Centauri Stadium
Welcome to a positively raucous Alpha Centauri Stadium, where POW comes back at you with an outstanding mixed martial art supercard.
I am Janus the Overman, the undisputed greatest wrestler of all-time, now the undisputed greatest color commentator of all-time. Tonight's card is headlined by two rematches that could go down in the annals of MMA greatness.
Our main event is the rematch for the Heavyweight Title, with dominant champion Shylock going toe to toe with his once-time ally, now fierce rival Cypher, considered by some as the flagship MMA combatant in all of POW.
The cruiserweight title match between Stigma and Pendekar was signed almost immediately after the last battle. Why? Because Stigma-Pendekar I was simply one of the best MMA matches, certainly in POW history, if not galaxy-wide.
Our other title match will pit surprise Super Heavyweight stalwart Gunnar against up-and-coming challenger Hanuman.
Let's get right into the action.
The Undercard
Scion Nexus -vs- Crucible -- Scion Nexus has struggled to make a consistent go of it in MMA action, but he had little trouble besting Crucible in this one. -- Nexus wore down Crucible with arm bar after arm bar, then clinched in a keylock that was inescapable. Scion Nexus wins by submission via keylock
Indigo -vs- Jack of Diamonds -- Jack of Diamonds is another wrestling legend who has made a spirited entrance into MMA, but age and lack of comfort level have been up against him every step of the way. -- In this one, Indigo was laser focused and bested Jack on all fronts. The crowd was behind the GWF/CPC/POW legend, and groaned collectively when an arm lock forced a TKO. It was soon after revealed that Jack suffered an arm injury for his troubles. Indigo wins by TKO via arm lock (Jack of Diamonds will miss 1 fight card cycle with a hyperextension)
Thayne -vs- Euritar -- This one could be a main event on many MMA cards, and it didn't disappoint. Thayne has emerged as one of the most popular fighters in all of POW, which made for a rare case where Euritar could not count on overall fan support to spur him on to success. -- It almost ended in seconds after Thayne leveled Euritar with blistering right to the jaw, but the former GWF notable recovered, held his own defensively for a couple minutes, and slowly was able to take over on offense. -- In the end, a lightning fast combo of rights and a left crumpled Thayne down, giving Euritar a huge victory. Euritar wins by KO after a right, right, left combo
Dread Knight -vs- Matinee Idol -- This one was demanded by the fans, because the feud has been so much fun -- for us anyway, not so much for these bitter enemies. The son of Death Knight hasn't been able to muster any success (the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, does it?), but he's become a fan sensation. Everyone wants to see him pummel the smug actor turned fighter. -- This one resembled the first two fights of the feud, with Dread Knight wildly going on the attack but having a hard time connecting or making it count. Matinee Idol, to his credit, outsmarted his volatile foe and was able to score another sound victory Matinee Idol wins by submission with an arm bar
The Championship Fights
Super Heavyweight Championship Gunnar (c) -vs- Hanuman -- What'd I tell you? This is some of the best MMA in the known galaxy. The first of the three title matches was the third best, but still a great, see-saw battle. -- Gunnar rained down strikes at the onset and rocked Hanuman several times, who turned to clinches to bide his time and recover. -- Ever the aggressive one, Gunnar started fatiguing and his effectiveness. Hanuman awaited the right opening and started a barrage, culminating in a thunderous elbow uppercut that sent the champ down! Hanuman continues his unlikely rise....and he's a champion now. Hanuman wins by KO following elbow uppercut; New Super Heavyweight Champion
Cruiserweight Championship Stigma (c) -vs- Pendekar -- The crowd was electric as this one started. Stigma has turned in a very impressive title reign, his most recent victory over Pendekar capping off a truly incredible fight. -- This one was a shade or two inferior to its predecessor, but still a superb fight. Pendekar controlled the majority of the fight, but couldn't put the champ away. -- Stigma put another notch on his belt after driving Pendekar into the mat....and dreamland....with a double leg pick up and slam. The impact was so loud that the crowd went from stunned gasps to roars of approval. Stigma wins by KO following a double leg pick up and slam; retains title
MAIN EVENT Heavyweight Championship Shylock (c) -vs- Cypher -- Perhaps fittingly, this legendary feud produced the match of the night. It seems like it can be no other way with these two outstanding fighters. -- Despite his cockiness and "villainous" ways, Cypher had a surprising amount of the Alpha Centauri crowd in his corner. -- As has been the theme tonight, one fighter started off strong, had his opponent on the ropes (literally)....only to slowly let it slip away. -- In this one, it was Cypher who appeared poised for a resounding victory, but he just couldn't finish. Shylock showed incredible endurance after working himself out of submission after submission, until unleashing his own arsenal. -- Cypher found himself in a guillotine choke and valiantly tried to escape, but finally succumbed, tapping out. -- As they announced Shylock the winner, Cypher was visibly frustrated, pounding a fist into the mat and storming off. He just can't solve Shylock. Shylock wins by submission via guillotine choke; retains title

So does it feel good to be back? Cypher can't solve Shylock for me, either. Saboteur has, but not Cypher. Nice show!

POW Newsbreakers
-- In a stunning announcement, the POW has announced that the legendary, longtime GWF color commentator, Gritty Marco, has signed a five-year deal to join Qualitar and Janus the Overman as the primary announcing juggernaut. -- Marco, widely considered the top sports commentator in all of the galaxy, ends a 20+ year association with the GWF, which began in 2087 at that federation's inaugural Eventmania. Despite his widely-beloved status among fans and wrestlers alike, Marco ran afoul of new GWF commissioner, the despotic Iron Hand. Iron Hand's shocking separation of the two-decade teaming of Marco and play-by-play legend Raury Rigel resulted in Marco's outspoken criticism of the new regime. -- Initially, Iron Hand nearly fired Marco and replaced him with Count Necros, but the situation cooled. Marco begrudingly assumed his new role as color commentator on the 2nd announcing tier. -- Marco shockingly bolted from the GWF this week, a major windfall for POW.
-- Jack of Diamonds has announced that, upon healing from the minor arm injury sustained at POW Fallout, he will wrestle his last match before calling it quits. He added that he is aggressively trying to convince a fellow legend and former CPC notable to come back to be his final opponent. -- Perhaps fittingly, Killer Queen -- with whom Jack formed one of the most successful tag teams in wrestling history as Royal Family -- has also announced his retirement. Perhaps to not take any attention from his younger, more successful ally, Queen has chosen to forego any sort of final match and just call it a successful, rewarding career.
-- Further retirement news: Talon is walking away from the POW. He thanked the league profusely for the opportunities, but cited the shift in direction from pure wrestling to MMA and wrestling as a factor. -- Mike Fortune is also leaving the POW, though he has not ruled out a later return. Though never a major title holder, Fortune has seen moderate success in his long career, and always had a propensity to be involved in the greatest of controversies.
-- President Prodigy confirmed what many had been expecting -- the two-year experiment of banned alliances is coming to an end. Effective the next fight cards, teams will be allowed again. Many are speculating why things have reverted, with the prevailing suspicion being that the issue was yet another subject of disagreement between Prodigy, Commissioner Hood and owner Faustus Grael.
-- Finally, an influx of new or returning talent is expected. On the upcoming Planet POW card, we will be seeing the debuts of Benedict and The Zealot, as well as the return of controversial Onami. There appears to be a connection between the two newcomers, with Talisman being a central figure. The story will, no doubt, unfold.

POW - The Planet POW Show Queen of the Stars Palace, Cassiopeia
The Palace absolutely shook with raucous fan reaction as the new announcing superteam made it to their ringside table. Gritty Marco, the legendary GWF commentator, heard his name chanted over and over as he took his new place between Qualitar and Janus the Overman.
President Prodigy came out to a nice pop and began the event with an introduction: "Ladies and gentlemen, you thought the POW was at the top of its game? We haven't even started yet. First off, you've now met the greatest announcing crew the galaxy has ever seen....tonight -- we're going to see two newcomers, a returnee, and a main event that is going to shock you. It's a mega-fight between two super heavyweight machines, Rubicon and Mensar....but that's not the shocking part! You'll see...."
Benedict -vs- J.J. Smooth -- The crowd didn't know what to make of the imposing newcomer, though some gave him applause simply from being from Cetus. Benedict was wearing a head-band and amulet, the latter which he handed the ringside attendant. What was particularly curious was the arrival of Talisman, who apparently had purchased a front row seat, where he watched the entire fight passively. -- J.J. Smooth actually threatened to make Benedict's debut an embarrassing one by peppering him with strike after strike and controlling the fight for the first minutes. -- Suddenly, Benedict unloaded with a jarring uppercut that downed Smooth. As J.J. struggled back to a standing position, the newcomer snapped a left jab followed by a right hook....and this one was over! Benedict wins by KO via left jab, right hook
Post-Match -- As Dynamo tried to get a quick interview with the newcomer, Benedict suddenly yelled into the camera, "Do you know who I am? My name is Benedict! Talisman hopes for me to join his True Way team." -- He turned to Talisman, who had abruptly stood up. He pointed at the eccentric manager and added, "Which will never happen!" He ripped off his headband to reveal the telltale scarring of a tattoo removed. A True Way tattoo perhaps? -- Talisman grew crimson-faced and stormed off into the crowd. Now, the crowd really got behind Benedict!
Onami -vs- Taurine -- The fans booed the return of a hated enemy of Thayne. The intense Onami had no words for anybody, letting his actions speak for themselves. -- Onami kept this fight a stand and strike affair. Every time Taurine connected with him, be it a kick or punch, it was as if Onami hadn't even felt it! The returnee from was laser-focused as he dissected his opponent with strike after strike. Onami wins by KO via right haymaker
Pre-Match -- Talisman strode out with a hulking, silent giant of a man. He grabbed the mic from an annoyed Qualitar and began ranting, "I surmised long ago that the treacherous Benedict was going to make a foolhardy choice. It matters not. I have procured the services of one far more loyal, more for devout....and far more dangerous than Benedict ever could be. Non-believers, charlatans and knaves -- I present you The Zealot!
The Zealot -vs- Gordo -- This turned out to be a nice, even match. Much of the fight involved clinching, and clinching was where it came to an end. In a gasp-enducing move, The Zealot clamped on a waistlock, then unceremoniously dumped Gordo straight onto his head! -- The referee stopped this one and promptly called for the ringside medical staff. Gordo had to be carried out of the ring and to the back, where it was later revealed that he has a severe concussion! The Zealot wins by TKO via waistlock into slam onto head
Excalibur -vs- Nero -- Excalibur came out with new attire and a new look. He got a huge pop, contrasting with the resounding boos that Dr. Barnabas' animalistic fighter received. -- Excalibur seemed like a different man, sharper and more crisp than ever! This one was one-sided in his favor. Nero tried to take control, but his foe had an answer for everything. Excalibur wins by KO after high crotch pick and drop
MAIN EVENT Rubicon -vs- Mensar -- As the match was about to begin, the ground-level lights shone upward to reveal a cage that was lowering from the rafters! Everyone went crazy as POW was about to have its first-ever MMA cage fight. -- And the actual matchup didn't disappoint. Two of the most deadly super-heavyweights collided and, to the thrill of the crowd, went back and forth. -- At one point when he was pressing an advantage, Rubicon seemed to lose his focus and become distracted....to the extreme where for a few seconds he looked completely out of it, anguish on his monstrous face. Naturally, Mensar capitalized by driving him to the mat and applying a rear naked choke. -- Rubicon managed to escape, but it was obvious he had wrenched his neck. Despite the minor injury, he took control and got Mensar down, where he unloaded with his arsenal of knee strikes. -- Mensar flipped it around and rained down punches and fists of his own until the referee stepped in! Mensar wins by KO via punches and elbows to head
The fans got a phenomenal POW experience, from beginning to end -- including the debuts of Gritty Marco, Benedict, The Zealot....and the cage!
