POW Resurgence The Soul of Tour Tour: Stop Five EarthDome
Round One of the Tag-Team Tournament
King's Men -vs- Matinee Idol & Brainstorm -- Jack of Diamonds destroyed Matinee Idol in this one, in a lopsided affair that made Idol and Storm's request to get back into the tournament ultimately a moot point. Winners: King's Men by SYNCHRONICITY
Good Ol' Boys -vs- The Punks -- Silas came out downing two "Silasweisers" at once. He offered one to Taurine, who swatted it away with much irritation. -- The Punks made the most of their first tag match in months, and won this one convincingly, with Taurine dominating Silas in the end. Winners: The Punks by BATTERED AND BRUISED
Darwin's Legacy -vs- Mad Jester & Killer Queen -- The fans loved Jester & Queen, especially seen the old GWF in action. But no one expected them to fare well at all in this match. -- Jester held his own against Darwin's Legacy, but things turned around and soon, he was getting pounde by both of Barnabas' monsters without being able to tag out. -- EXTINCTION put him down, but Killer Queen rushed in and smacked Hadrian, then left the ring. Hadrian flew into a rage and chased the legend! Queen escaped him by rushing around the ring....Hadrian continued his pursuit....8...9...10....and got counted out! Winners: Mad Jester & Killer Queen by countout
SkyFire -vs- Silent Violence -- This went perfectly for Stigma. With an MMA title match tonight, obviously he doesn't want to use up all his energy in the tag matches.....and Pendekar wrestled this entire one, singlehandedly holding his own against the agile tandem and scoring the win. Winners: Silent Violence by KIMURA ARMBREAKER
Circinus Cell Match Mike Fortune -vs- Gunnar -- This one got heated right away, with the two bitter foes duking it out viciously. -- The action carried to the top of the cage....but that's where it got ugly for Gunnar. Saboteur rushed out from the crowd and climbed the cage. He smashed Gunnar from behing with a clothesline, then helped Mike Fortune give him double suplexes over and over on the cage top. -- They tossed Gunnar off the cage, where Fortune pulled him into the ring and got the pinfall. What a vicious defeat for Gunnar. How can he hope to contend against this Fortune-Saboteur cabal? Winner: Mike Fortune by pinfall
Super Heavyweight MMA Championship Rubicon (c) -vs- Puma -- No surprise here -- these two went right at each other. Puma looked particularly focused, having gotten extensive instructions at the top of the ramp from Dr. Barnabas. When this one got to the mat, Puma took over and never looked back, reclaiming his title! Winner and NEW CHAMP: Puma by submission (crucifix choke)
Tag-Team Tournament Round Two
King's Men -vs- The Punks -- The Punks looked sharp against GOB, but couldn't get it together against the focused King's Men. Jack of Diamonds smashed Romulus decisively, and he and Excalibur go the finals! Winners: King's Men by SYNCHRONICITY
Mad Jester & Killer Queen -vs- Silent Violence -- Stigma seemed reluctant, but got involved in this one. Killer Queen looked respectable, but Mad Jester stole the show! He survived Pendekar's vicious offensive arsenal and scored ANOTHER upset! Winners: Mad Jester & Killer Queen by DIE LAUGHING
Cruiserweight Wrestling Championship Dante (c) -vs- Ahnu -- For a time, it looked like Ahnu was going to win a tremendous, dominant title-grabbing victory! He pummeled Dante so viciously, you would have thought he was wrestling Thayne. -- But Dante proved why he's been the cruiserweight champ for so long, as he fought back, fueled by the wild cheers of the Earth crowd. Winner: Dante by HEAVEN
Cruiserweight MMA Championship Stigma (c) -vs- Thayne -- Stigma got through the tag-team tournament without too much exertion, and that was a good thing, for Thayne came here to fight. -- This one was a solid back and forth battle, but Stigma retained after getting Thayne down and stomping him viciously. Winner: Stigma by KO (foot stomps)
Tag-Team Championship Match King's Men -vs- Mad Jester & Killer Queen -- The crowd was very much into this one, with four fan favorites participating. -- Jack of Diamonds and Killer Queen hugged and shook hands. What followed was an amazing matchup, with many near-falls and comebacks. -- Excalibur kept getting worn down by Mad Jester, while Jack of Diamonds bested Killer Queen whenever they were in the ring. -- Mad Jester downed Excalibur and had him stunned, then tagged off....and Killer Queen locked on the CHECKMATE! -- The crowd went into a frenzy as Excalibur tried to power out of it, then went for the ropes....and then tapped out! The unthinkable has happened -- the cobbled-together team of Mad Jester and Killer Queen are the new tag-team champions!!! Winners and NEW CHAMPS: Mad Jester & Killer Queen by CHECKMATE
Heavyweight Wrestling Championship Mensar (c) -vs- Raze -- What a great matchup! Two-time champion Raze matched power with Mensar. He had to contend with constant meddling by Cordanus though. -- Somehow, incredibly, Raze lifted the behemoth champion up and gave him a thudding AWAKENING....1...2...3....Raze wins the title for a third time! -- Cordanus was positively livid, berating the referee. Raze grabbed the title and celebrated before a thunderous ovation. Winner and NEW CHAMP: Raze by AWAKENING
Heavyweight MMA Championship Cypher (c) -vs- Shylock -- Though Shylock got a huge pop, Cypher garnered some support from the Earth crowd as well. The fans were really into this much-hyped showdown. -- What followed was a battle that lived up to all the attention. These guys beat the hell out of each other. Cypher wore down Shylock early on with well-timed, punishing strikes....then Shylock got it to the mat and wore down Cypher! -- They went back and forth....until Shylock got on top of the champ, and delivered punches after punches.....Cypher tried feverishly to block, but finally became unable to defend himself, and the match was stopped! Winner and NEW CHAMP: Shylock by KO (mounted punches)

Did pretty good on my picks, but WOW! What a shocker in the tag tourney! Hooray crazy people! Mad Jester amazes me sometimes....he can hold his own against a lot of guys, even with the new card. As for Killer Queen -- the dice must have been sentimental. In what was meant to be a team cobbled together to menace Idol and Brainstorm, I never dreamt they'd actually win the tournament.

POW News and Notes
-- Even though they lost a heartbreaker, Jack of Diamonds and Excalibur were congratulatory to Killer Queen and Mad Jester, who shockingly became POW's first tag-team champions. Queen and Jack, as wrestling fans across the galaxy know well, comprised one of the greatest tag-teams in GWF history as The Royal Family. -- In related news, Dr. Barnabas reportedly gave a blank check to the administrators of the EarthDome, then proceeded to allow his tandem of Darwin's Legacy to DESTROY their locker room. Witnesses claimed that Barnabas encouraged the behavior, constantly evoking the names of Jester and Queen.
-- Cypher refused to speak with reporters after his title loss to Shylock in one of the greatest POW MMA matches to date. The normally cocky Cypher left EarthDome immediately, and has yet to be seen.
-- Gunnar is injured after the vicious assault by Mike Fortune and Saboteur in the Circinus Cell Match. The superplexes on the cage top were damaging enough, but being tossed off the cage to the arena floor may keep Gunnar back on the IR for an extended amount of time. Saboteur's comments afterwards: " Gunnar should have left well enough alone. I chose him as a tag-team partner once, and he served his purpose -- but rather than accept that as an honor, he chose to be insulted and meddled in my business. As we showed tonight, that was an unwise move. With him out of the way, now we can focus on our true goal -- and I think everyone knows what that is."
-- On the upcoming POW card, it is expected that Cordanus and Mensar will have comments about the shocking capture of the POW Heavyweight Wrestling Championship by Raze, now a three-time champ. Were they over-confident? Did they look past Raze towards enemy Euritar? Where were "king makers" Matinee Idol and Brainstorm? Hopefully we'll get some answers.
-- In the EarthDome shuttle lot, Thayne and Ahnu bumped into each other and a vicious brawl ensued. Luckily, security kept it from getting ugly....but these two can't even look at each other without fireworks going off. With Thayne's MMA aspirations thwarted, and Ahnu's cruiserweight title bid stymied, will these two at last face each other soon?

POW Wrestling
POW Mercury Rising The Soul of Sol Tour: Stop Six-- Mercury Arena
-- Dynamo was at the start of the ramp when the program kicked off. "Ladies and gentlemen....flamboyance is back. I introduce to you, the first POW Tag-Team Championships -- Mad Jester and Killer Queen!" -- The visitors to Mercury's new arena cheered loudly as the two champions strode out. Killer Queen in his usual festive attire, Mad Jester frolicking around like, well, a madman. -- Dynamo started with Killer Queen, who proclaimed, " What would a tag-team championship be without the Queen? I've held tag-team titles with Exo-King, Jack of Diamonds, Vanity....I even held them with this guy's look-a-like. The years may have gone by, but this Queen still has...." -- The crowd let out boos as Dr. Barnabas stomped out, with a microphone. " Enjoy it, you crazy little pests. Enjoy it for now. Darwin's Legacy won't make the mistake of suffering a countout again. You got -- to say the very least -- lucky against us." -- Mad Jester moved to speak, but Barnabas held out a hand. " I'm not interested in what you have to say. I am out here for a warning. Your little 'feel good' story will very soon be over. Darwin's Legacy isn't about fun and games, nostalgia and 'flamboyance'. It is about distruction and pain, suffering and agony. Laugh about that." With that, he stormed out.
Cypher -vs- J.J. Smooth -- This one was a laugher. Cypher predictably destroyed Smooth. The former Heavyweight MMA Champion was all business, coming down to win easily, then wordlessly leaving. Winner: Cypher by CYPHER STRETCH
Latasha -vs- Nano -- Latasha came out to her usual fanfare, striking dramatic poses several times down the ramp. The crowd, despite her being somewhat of a home system star, let her hear their disapproval. -- What followed was a very good match. Nano managed to capture its first POW victory! Winner: Nano by PLAYTIME
-- After the match, Latasha threw a fit, clearly growing more and more frustrated with her continued lack of success in POW. For a former GWF Women's Champ, she has been less than impressive in her new fed.
Ahnu -vs- Zed Marlowe -- Ahnu, fresh from his failed attempt to capture the Cruiserweight Wrestling Championship, hoped to keep some success going here, but Zed Marlowe won this one convincingly. Winner: Zed Marlowe by MARLOWE VISE
-- Dynamo interviewed Cordanus and Mensar backstage. Cordanus looked as if he hadn't lost an ounce of the anger from POW Resurgence. " Raze, you gloat about being a 'three-time champion' and how underrated you've been. Blah blah blah. Your first two championships were before Mensar was in the federation....and in your third, you got lucky! You're a joke. A lucky joke, but a joke nonetheless." -- Mensar growled, " We're the Men with the Power. Not you! You're just some nut with mental problems!"
Good Ol' Boys -vs- Matinee Idol & Brainstorm -- Idol and Brainstorm were stymied in the tag-team tournament, and were nowhere to be found when Mensar was defending his title. They seemed to be a bit off here tonight, not communicating much en route to the ring. And during the match, they just didn't click as a tandem. -- This led to a fairly convincing GOB victory. Winners: Good Ol' Boys by REDNECK ROMP
-- After the match, Brainstorm looked down at the fallen Idol, then shook his head irritably. He helped up his partner, but then stalked out of the ring.
Saboteur -vs- Indigo -- The masked conspirator annihilated former heavyweight champ Indigo. This one wasn't even close. What's next for Saboteur? Winner: Saboteur by VENGEANCE IS MINE
MAIN EVENT Euritar -vs- Mensar -- The fans hadn't heard this surprise main event....and went crazy when it was announced! -- This was a GREAT match, one of many these two have put on over the past year. -- Euritar nailed his finishing sequence and headed for victory, but Cordanus distracted the referee, buying precious recovery time for Mensar. -- Then Mensar got his offense back and this one abruptly turned around. He used his own finisher twice on Euritar.... --...but after the second one, Raze stormed down and leapt onto the apron. He jawed at Mensar, who got in his face and shoved him off! -- But Euritar managed to get back to his feet....then wrenched his massive opponent with a nasty backbreaker....1..2..3! Winner: Euritar by twisting backbreaker
-- Cordanus was even more livid, berating the referee, then gesturing wildly at Raze, who grinned and then shrugged with faux helplessness.

POW MMA
POW Violence on Venus The Soul of Sol Tour: Stop Seven-- Venus Coliseum
--Commissioner Jack Hood came out and announced a special event coming at the end of the Soul of Sol Tour. He cited that the GWF had their popular "Future Shock" event where a select number of wrestlers wrestle each other twice and the one with the most wins is crowned the FS champion. --POW is going to take that concept and make it better! Stop Fifteen on the Soul of Sol Tour will be at the EarthDome again, and will be POW Undisputed. --Over the next cards, 6 combatants will be determined to make up Undisputed. This will be based on a combination of things, including win-loss record, past championship history, and scheduled matchups. --For the first round, a coin toss will determine if each match is Wrestling or MMA. Each combatant will battle each other once in that round. --In the second round, each combatant will face each other again, but in each case the loser of the previous encounter will determine if the second is Wrestling or MMA. --The combatant with the most points, with a scoring system to be revealed at the event, will be crowned the first POW Undisputed Champion....and will gain a title shot of their choice -- against either wrestling champion or the MMA champion in their weight class.
Crucible -vs- Scion Nexus -- Crucible was uncomfortable in this one, and Nexus took advantage, getting the bizarre alien to the mat early and smothering him with grappling moves. A perfectly-locked choke hold forced the tap out Scion Nexus makes Crucible SUBMIT via rear naked choke
Taurine -vs- Absalom -- Taurine started off impressively here, clipping Absalom with some strikes, even downing him with a kick. Absalom managed to find his defense and start evading a second round of strikes, then landed a searing punch that rocked Taurine to the mat for an abrupt stoppage. Absalom KOs Taurine via looping left hand
T.K. -vs- Pendekar -- Match of the Night....these two start off with blistering strikes back and forth, then it went to the mat for back-and-forth grappling. T.K. -- always solid in MMA action, had Pendekar seemingly down and suspectible to submissions, but the martial artist powered back. The two weary combatants took it back to a strikefest, which ended when T.K. crumpled after a kick to the thigh. Pendekar KOs T.K. by thigh kick
Hanuman -vs- Gordo -- Hanuman hopes to make a case that the super heavyweight division isn't just about Rubicon and Puma. He went right at Gordo from the onset, rocking the big man with some timely punches, then pouncing with superior grappling. Hanuman makes Gordo SUBMIT to a hammerlock
MAIN EVENT Saboteur -vs- Excalibur -- Excalibur started off trying to pummel Saboteur, but got a bit reckless and fell prey to some shots. Saboteur kept trying to get this one to the mat, but Excalibur wouldn't stay down. Saboteur dominated offensively....then in a shot heard 'round Venus, executed a jab with such velocity and precision, that Excalibur flew back into the turnbuckle then collapsed face-first, bloodied and completely out. Saboteur TKOs Excalibur by quick jab
-- Saboteur stood confidently over the fallen Excalibur, holding up his fists. The crowd went from booing to suddenly cheering -- prompting Saboteur to look around in confusion. Out from backstage came -- on crutches -- Gunnar! -- He had a microphone, and yelled into it, "Saboteur....you and your little pal thought you put an end to me in that Circinus Cell, didn't you? Well you didn't finish the job! I'll be back soon. And when I come back, you're going to find yourself without a henchman real quick! And after that, I'll take care of you." -- Saboteur shook his head and seemed to be laughing, but the crowd started chanting, "Gunnar! Gunnar!"....quite a surprise given Gunnar's less-than-heroic persona of late!
