Don Muraco w/Captain Lou Albano (26) v. Al Costelo (39) w/ “Wild” Red Berry
The fans do not care for either man and give them both solid heat. Muraco gets a beach bum chant as well and ends up going to ringside to give it back to the fans. Both men exchange holds without a clear advantage until Muraco takes out the referee with a deathjump (12 moves). Muraco traps Costello with an over the shoulder backbreaker but there is no referee. Muraco then hits a HAWAIIAN HAMMER but the referee remains down and out. It is all Muraco who works over the neck including a deathjump clothesline and a second HAWAIIAN HAMMER just as the referee recovers and disqualifies Muraco for knocking him down. Albano is besides himself and it all over the referee but the decision stands and Costello is lucky to be moving onto the next round. Up next: Bobo Brazi v. Al Snow

Thanks for following along Kamala!
Bobo Brazi (7) v. Al Snow (58)
The ovation for Brazil is off the charts. Snow has head in his corner and we get a mild “head” chant from Snow’s supporters. Snow keeps his larger opponent on the defensive and uses a series of headbutts to set up a moonsault for a 1 count (R9/P1). Snow maintains control until the action goes to the floor. Brazil gains the upper hand at ringside and when the action goes back to the ring he downs Snow with a big hammer punch. Brazil hooks the leg for three (R4/P4). Up next: Mil Mascaras v. One Man Gang

Mil Mascaras (3) v. One Man Gang w/Sir Oliver Humperdink (62)
The fans are solidly behind Mascaras as he makes his way to the ring. Gang looks like a monster in the ring against his much smaller opponent. Mascaras is able to send Gang into the ropes and catches him with a dropkick that topples Gang to the mat. Mascaras leaps to the corner and ends it quickly with a FLYING BODYPRESS (R3/P4). Humperdink makes no move to interfere and the Gang is going home. Up next: Dan Severn v. Masked Superstar

At least Muraco got the best of Costello.
Dan Severn (30) v. Masked Superstar (35)
Two of the toughest men in wrestling clashed next. Superstar uses his slight agility advantage to take the early advantage and strikes with a spinning neckbreaker (ch) to get a 2 count (R5/P3). Superstar follows immediately with a SPINNING NECKBREAKER for a 1 count (R12/P4). Another SPINNING NECKBREAKER does not get the job done either (R9/P5). The fans get behind Severn and he manages to turn things around and scores with a German suplex. Severn takes the action to the mat and works over his opponent and then forces Superstar to the floor with a fireman’s carry slam. Severn traps Superstar in the ropes and applies a choke sleeper. He refuses to release the hold and is disqualified. Up next: William Muldoon v. Mad Dog Vachon

Kamala- agreed. In a single elimination tournament luck can get you a long way. William Muldoon (19) v. Mad Dog Vachon (46) Another battle of different generations and contrasting styles. Muldoon offers a handshake to start and Vachon tries to bite his hand. It is all Muldoon early on with suplexes and double shoulder locks. Muldoon even gets the best of his opponent during a brawl on the floor. Vachon is able to counter a figure four leglock attempt to get a brief advantage but Muldoon regains control during a brawl on the floor. Back inside, Muldoon telegraphs a backdrop and Vachon counters with a piledriver. Vachon comes off the top of the corner with a knee drop and then hits a PILEDRIVER for a 2 count (R7/P4). Vachon and Muldoon trade the advantage and Vachon gets a 1 count after a bite to the forehead (R7/P3). PILEDRIVER and Vachon hooks the leg but Muldoon kicks out at 2 (R8/P3). It is back and forth now with neither man being able to string together more than a couple of moves before losing the advantage. Muldoon catches Vachon in the corner with a running slingshot and the decides to take the fight to the floor not once, but twice. The decision proves costsly as Vachon countera Muldoon’s attack the second time to the floor. Back in the ring, Vachon plants Muldoon with the third PILEDRIVER of the bout for the upset pin (R6/P6). Up Next: Hawk v. Cowboy Bob Orton

I agree luck is huge in a tournament, but I find the Masked Superstar is better then Severn. Good to see Mad Dog Vachon with a huge win over Muldoon and I'm thinking Hawk will defeat Orton...
