Thanks Kamala. Anything can happen in a single elimination tournament. I agree that that was a major upset. How far can Mask advance?
Lou Thesz (2) v. Jushin “Thunder” Liger (63)
Both men are out to a solid ovation. A handshake gets us going. Mask tries to use his speed from the outset but Thesz gets his elbow up to block a tackle in the corner and then hits a GRECO-ROMAN BACKDROP for a 2 count (R9/P6). Thesz sets the pace with a sold mat attack. Liger gets the occasional counter in to keep things interesting but Thesz has just too many holds and gets the win following a THESZ PRESS (R4/P7). A handshake ends the competition. Both men exit to a solid ovation. Up next: Rikidozan v. Diamond Dallas Page

Rikidozan (31) v. Diamond Dallas Page (34)
Page is one of the most popular competitors in the tournament and makes his way to the ring through the crowd. The pace is quick from the outset with both men countering well. Rikidozan begins to take control with a series of chops and slams. A scoop slam sets up THUNDEROUS CHOPS but Page kicks out (R9/P5). Page is back up to his feet but Rikidozan drops him again with THUNDEROUS CHOPS for the win (R6/P6). Great heat for the Japanese legend as he in announced as the winner. Up Next: Harley Race v. Curt Hennig

Harley Race (18) v. Curt Hennig (47)
It was rumoured that Hennig worked extensively with his father Larry “The Axe” Hennig in preparing for this match drawing from his father’s experience as Race’s tag team partner. Bobby Heenan was said to offer his services to both men for the tournament but both men declined. Race and Hennig are all business during the introductions. Race telegraphs a backdrop early on and Hennig makes him pay with a piledriver. Hennig comes off the top rope moments later with a deathjump smash but Race rolls clear and Hennig crashes to the mat. Race covers for 2 (R5/P2) and then forces Hennig to the floor with an Indian Deathlock. Hennig drags Race to the floor and rams him shoulder first into the ring post. Back inside, Hennig hits The Axe and Race bails to the floor. Hennig comes outside and mixes it up with Race but Race comes out on top. Race hits two consecutive deathjump smashes and goes for a third but is slow mounting the corner which allows Hennig recover enough to knock the top rope which causes Race to fall to the mat. Hennig then climbs the same corner but Race recovers and tosses him to the mat. Race capitalizes and hits a PILEDRIVER for the win (R6/P6). Hennig and Race do the respect angle and shake hands after the match. Up next: Antonino Rocca v. Dick Hutton.

Thanks CC. I am glad you are enjoying the action so far.
Antonino Rocca (15) v. Dick Hutton (60)
Rocca is incredibly popular with the fans and is out to a solid ovation. A handshake starts the action and the fans show their appreciation with another ovation for both men. It is Hutton’s power against Rocca’s agility. Both men struggle to get something going. Hutton sends Rocca into the ropes and Rocca hits a cross body press on the rebound and hooks the leg. 1, 2, 3. (R2/P3). This one is over quickly as a single mistake sends Rocca onto the next round. Hutton is clearly disappointed but shakes Rocca’s hand regardless as Rocca is announced as the winner. Up next: Bruiser Brody v. Bob Orton Sr.

Bruiser Brody (10) v. Bob Orton Sr. (55)
Brody causes a commotion was he storms the ring with his chain swinging above his head. Orton manages to keep his cool and dominates the action once the bell sounds with including rebounding Brody into a vicious looking clothesline. Brody sends Orton to the ropes and Orton rebounds with a cross body press for a 1 count (R11/P2). Orton works over the neck with a neckbreaker and the action goes outside where Brody grabs his chains and chokes out Orton earning a disqualification. Security arrives to break things up before anyone is injured. Another top seed is bounced out of the tournament. Up next: The Destroyer v. Greg Valentine

Too bad Rocca defeated Hutton, but I can see Rocca having a great chance at winning it all and Bob Orton, Sr. with a Solid win over Brody knowing it was via DQ...

@ CC Rocca certainly has a strong card and could go far in the tournament.
@ Kamala - agreed
The Destroyer (23) v. Greg Valentine w/Captain Lou Albano(42)
This match had the potential of being the Figure Four Leglocks. Albano has a beef with Gary Michael Cappetta but Destroyer intervenes and decks Albano and starts brawling with Valentine as the crowd roars with approval. Destroyer hits a running slingshot and moves to a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK but Valentine grabs the ropes (R8/P6). Destroyer applies a single leg Boston Crab and Valentine has no counter (R2/P5). Destroyer is onto the next round with a one sided victory. Up next: Don Muraco v. Al Costelo
