@cc thanks for making the prediction. Humanoids4eva the next match will be 28 of 32 in the opening round. Thank you for following along. Road Warrior Hawk (14) w/Paul Ellering v. Cowboy Bob Orton (51) Huge ovation for the Road Warrior as he comes to the ring. Orton used all his skills to contain his powerhouse opponent early on but Hawk soon opened caught Orton with a dropkick and then unleashes power moves including an impressive gorilla press slam that has the crowd on their feet. Hawk uses a running clothesline to set up a FLYING CLOTHESLINE for a 1 count (R9/P4). Orton manages to battle back winning a brawl on the floor. A second rope powerslams looks impressive. Hawk manages to reverse a whip into the corner and crushes Orton with a running slingshot. Hawk climbs the corner for a FLYING CLOTHESLINE and moves onto the next round (R4/P6). Terry Gordy (11) v. Yukon Eric (54)
Eric is really popular with the fans and is out to a warm reception. Gordy is all business from the bell and opens the match with a choke slam (ch) for a 2 count (R5/P2). A PILEDRIVER gives Gordy another near fall (R8/P5) before Gordy hits a pair of deathjump smashes. Gordy works over Eric at ringside and then finishes the match in the middle of the ring with a POWERBOMB (R3/P5). Eric has no offense the entire match! Up Next: Masked Superstar II v. Sabu

Kamala Gordy was unstoppable for sure. Masked Superstar II (22) v. Sabu (43) w/Bill Alfonso The fans are buzzing as the unpredictable Sabu arrives at ringside. Superstar uses his significant size advantage to push Sabu around early on. Sabu is able to counter a backdrop with a piledriver and then immediately goes for the submission with a CAMEL CLUTCH but Superstar is too big (R10/P2). Sabu works over Superstar with a series of deathjump smashes and a pair of figure four leglocks (ch). Superstar bails to the floor and drags Sabu out with him whipping Sabu into the ring post. The referee makes the call for the disqualification and Masked Superstar II is out of the tournament. Up Next: Iron Sheik v. Road Warrior Animal

A double shot of action to end the first round!
Iron Sheik (27) v. Road Warrior Animal (38) w/Paul Ellering
Huge heat for the Sheik as he gets on the mic and tells the fans what he thinks of America and the fans in general. Animal tosses around Sheik in the opening moments until Sheik is able to backdrop Animal to the floor. Animal lands hard and the momentum changes. Sheik cracks Animal across the back with a chair drawing great heat once again and then rams Animal face first into the rails and the Road Warrior is busted open. Sheik loads his boot up and hits three consecutive deathjump loaded boot blows. Animal is a bloody mess. Animal managed to catch Sheik with a clothesline rebounding off the ropes and then mounts the corner for a deathjump smash but Sheik rolls clear. Sheik covers. 1, 2, kick out (R5/P4). Sheik loads up his boot again and forces Animal to the floor. Sheik follows Animal to the floor and the Road Warrior is finally able to turn things around and tosses Sheik back inside. POWERSLAM only gets a 1 count (R11/P2). Animal is all over the Sheik with power moves. A flying shoulder ram sends Sheik to the floor and Animal comes out after him cracking him with a steel chair. Sheik is now busted open. Sheik bails to the floor again and drags Animal outside sending him into the ring post. Sheik loads his boot up again and Animal goes down hard. Both men are battered and the momentum switches back and forth quickly. Animal reverses a whip into the corner but Sheik avoids Animal’s charge and the Road Warrior hits the buckles hard. Sheik covers for a 2 ½ (R9/P7). Sheik hits a spinning neckbreaker and gets the three count (R7/P8). Up Next: Buddy Rogers v. Angelo Mosca
Buddy Rogers (6) v. Angelo Mosca (59) The Nature Boy infuriates the fans with his arrogance strutting around the ring during the introductions. Mosca spent years battling wrestling other “Nature Boy” in Toronto so Mosca is not intimidated by his opponent. Rogers is on fire early on and forces Mosca to the floor where he attacks the Canadian’s leg with a steel chair drawing huge heat from ringside. A few minutes later Mosca is able to drag Rogers outside and rams him shoulder first into the ring post. Mosca cannot maintain the advantage as Rogers counters a deathjump with a boot to the face. Rogers’ jumping knee smash forces Mosca outside and the Nature Boy is out after his opponent. Mosca wins the brawl on the floor and uses a SLEEPER when the action returns to the ring. Rogers escapes (R5/P1). Mosca batters Rogers in and out of the ring. At one point, Rogers is trapped in the ropes and Mosca shows no mercy hammering away on Rogers with the fans roaring. Mosca telegraphs a backdrop and Rogers counters with a piledrver. Rogers immediately returns to the leg with a FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE but after a lengthy struggle, Mosca grabs the ropes (R8/P7). Rogers then hits a deathjump clothesline followed by back to back deathjump smashes to the Mosca’s leg. Rogers ends it with a FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE (R7/P9). Up next – round 2!

There was plenty of solid action with 78% of the matches having a conclusive finish. There were several of upsets along the way. The biggest in my mind was Tiger Mask pinning Nick Bockwinkel. Although Bryan Danielson defeating Rob Van Dam was a bigger upset if you go by the seeding, that match ended in a disqualification so the edge goes to Mask’s victory. I plan to post the entire second round over the next week so we will be getting multiple matches each day.

Those two matches looked fun and it's good to see the Iron Sheik advance but too bad Mosca lost. So Round Two is next, this has been a very fun tournament to follow and it'll be interesting to see who will win it all...

Round two is underway!
Andre the Giant (1) v. Ted DiBiase (33)
The history between these competitors is well known to the fans. Andre is greeted by a huge ovation as he steps over the ropes. DiBiase can mix it up on the mat and brawl with the best of them but would it be enough to make up for his size disadvantage? DiBiase turns some heads but rebounding off the ropes early on and countering a clothesline with one of his own sending both men to the mat. DiBiase is up first but cannot toss Andre to the floor. There is a great spot a few moments later with both men avoid each other’s dropkicks. Andre slows things down with a series of bear hugs. DiBiase telegraphs a backdrop and DiBiase counters with a piledriver that shocks the fans! The arena is buzzing as DiBiase hits a fist drop and then covers Andre for a 1 count (R10/P1). It is all DiBiase with a series of dropkicks, chops and spinning neckbreakers. DiBiase makes a mistake of slapping the Giant in the face and Andre immediately strikes with a big boot to the face turning things around. Andre cannot maintain the advantage and DiBiase uses a series of front headlocks to wear down his much larger opponent while throwing in the occasion chop and spinning neckbreaker. Andre scores with a body slam that sends DiBiase to the floor. Andre comes out after DiBiase and DiBiase wins the brawl on the floor. DiBiase manages to apply a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK but the Giant easily breaks the hold (R8/P3). Andre comes back with a running sling shot in the corner and then tosses DiBiase to the floor. DiBiase is able to trip up the Giant and rams his leg off the ring post! DiBiase is slow to recover and DiBiase hits a fist drop for a 1 count (R7/P3). Andre is able to regain his feet and traps DiBiase with a pair of turnbuckle squashes and a lengthy bear hug. It is back and forth as Andre’s leg is clearly weakened and DiBiase is running out of gas. A turnbuckle squash forces DiBiase to the floor but DiBiase once gain trips up Andre and rams his leg off the ring post and this time the referee calls for the disqualification. After the match, DiBiase is not finished and grabs a chair slamming it onto Andre’s leg several times. Andre is onto the next round but needs assistance leaving the ring (2 card injury – leg) Up next Killer Kowalski v. Kevin Sullivan
Killer Kowalski (17) v. Kevin Sullivan (49) Both men are coming off dominating wins in the first round. The fans dislike the competitors but are psyched for some wild brawling. However it is Kowalski’s power and mat skills that give him the early advantage over his much smaller opponent. Kowalski transitions from a stomach claw to CLAW HOLD for a 2 count (R7/P3). Kowalski go to hold is the standing arm bar and he frustrates Sullivan. Sullivan is able to counter a charge to the corner with an elbow to the chest that drops Kowalski to the mat for the first time and Sullivan immediately pulls out a chain from his tights and blasts Kowalski. The referee calls for the bell and the second round starts with back to back disqualifications. A bloody Kowalski is up and brawls with Sullivan sending him back the dressing room. He will face an injured Andre The Giant in the round of 16. Up next: John Pesek v. Ox Baker
John Pesek (41) v. Ox Baker (55) Both of these men advanced through the first round by upsetting their opponents. Pesek is once again matched up against one of the best brawlers in the game. Baker goes on the attack early on and sends Pesek into the ring post shoulder first. The referee lets the action continue and Pesek is able to make a comeback with a waistlock slam followed by a TIGER MAN TOEHOLD. Baker kicks Pesek off (R9/P4) and Pesek maintains control with a head butt and a double bar hammerlock the transitions into a DOUBLE WRISTLOCK. Baker barely hangs on (R6/P5) but manages to make his own comeback with a series of shoulder breakers. Baker sends Pesek into the corner and charges in but Pesek counters with an elbow to the face and then wraps up Baker in a DOUBLE WRISTLOCK. Baker is able to hook the ropes to stay alive (R9/P6). Pesek is fired up and attacks with back to back waistlock slams that forces Baker to the floor. Pesek comes outside and rams Baker’s face into the steel rails busting him open. The referee calls for the disqualification. That is three in a row. Up next: Frank Gotch v. Ivan Koloff
