I have honestly never heard of him. Not excited by this set at all.

OK glad I'm not the only one who's unfamiliar with him. Still excited about the set though.

He died in the plane crash that broke Flair's back and ended Johnny Valentine's career. He's a little obscure but he had a varied career and won a lot of belts.

Bobby Shane has held tag gold with Nick Bockwinkel so there's that connection. He held pretty much every belt in Florida and Georgia. Bob Roop and Bob Armstrong would be natural feuds as they faced off in the past.

Bobby Shane has a definite place in wrestling history. Certainly he was on his way to legendary status before his life was cut tragically short (I believe he was just under 30), and he's the guy who gave Jerry Lawler the title (and crown) of "King". The name does not hold the cache of the modern era stars, but he's certainly an interesting character that adds another dimension to the game.
