Larry Matysik's Wrestling at the Chase book has a few pages about Bobby Shane. I think I'm going to enjoy using him. Gary Hart's book has a bit about him and I need to dig out my Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame: The Heels book because I'm pretty sure he's in that too. I've never seen him wrestle but the little I've read about him in these books have me happy to see him signed.

I have honestly never heard of him. Not excited by this set at all. I didn't know who he was. I looked him up. He seems awesome. Great art work. You're going to miss out on a big set.

For me, Bobby Shane was the most fun to work on in LEGENDS 11. The more I read, the more I felt that he would have been a major player if not for the plane crash. He seemed to have a great head for the business, knew how to get under the fans' skin and understood what made money.
He had the "King" persona, complete with crown and robes. He wouldn't wrestle on TV, saying that the fans would have to pay to see him. I found a lot of results where he would win with the sleeper, only to be disqualified for refusing to "wake up" his opponent (which was a big part of the sleeper gimmick in those days). And how many wrestlers can say they had a cigar named after them?
Amazing job on the art by Steve Stanley, who blended a couple different photo references, then filled in about a third of the drawing to give the full effect of Shane's robe.
I understand that some people aren't comfortable using wrestlers they never saw in the ring but, for the rest of you, Bobby Shane is one of those guys you'll be able to have some fun with.

I'm looking forward to adding Bobby Shane to Major League Wrestling. I plan on having Bobby Shane starting on my EAWA brand and portraying himself as the MLW King and I might use some other wrestlers (perhaps Les Thatcher and perhaps even briefly debut Finlay- sort of like how Finlay was for King Booker on Smackdown,) as members of King Shane's "Court." although in my fed I have in the past had Harley Race refer to himself as "the King of the Ring," I have never had Race wear a crown and a robe like he he did in the late 1980s in the WWF. so Bobby Shane will be the first wrestler to use an actual king gimmick in my fed. Edit: since I am currently in January about to start Year Five of my fed, my next PPV is the Royal Rumble- a perfect time for Bobby Shane to make his debut and proclaim himself the MLW King.

Shane is the type of guy you would never think would be in a set, but he is a great addition to legends.

I never heard of him either but checked out a Youtube video of Shane and Bearcat Wright defending their Florida belts. He seems like he was an entertaining wrestler. He liked the sleeper and figure four. And Bearcat would be a nice addition too! I thought they made an interesting team. Looking at his body build I'd say Shane was probably the same size as Bobby Heenan in the 70s. He sold real well. It will be cool to have his card.

I read about Shane, I think in the HOF book of Heels. I don't have an opinion on him one way or another, but I'll give him a shot. As far as I'm concerned, Blassie, Tolos, and Finlay are in the game so I'm happy.

Thats the great thing about Legends. Wrestlers we have never seen we get to experience some of their flavor. Bobby Shane might make a good addition to the Diamond Playboys (Page, Rose, and Venis)
