Awesome seeing the Road Warriors capture the N.E.W. tag team titles from The Sheepherders. I can just picture Captain Lou stumbling around ringside after the loss. I liked the chaotic aftermath of The Sandman vs. King Kong Bundy match. A real fun show and I enjoy the way you write up your reports with the commentary.

New Era Wrestling: Card 8- Hartford, CT:
The usual introduction package is co-opted this week with highlights of last week's Main Event with the Road Warriors beating the Sheepherders for the N.E.W. Tag Team Championship gold! We then find ourselves in the middle of the ring with the lovely Cindy Shepherd, who is waiting to get started with the night's work.
"Mad" Mike Cantrell: "Hello everyone and welcome, once again, to New Era Wrestling-"
Frankie Saddler: "The greatest wrestling to be had anywhere. Anywhere!"
Cantrell: "That's right! Once more we are coming to you from N.E.W. Headquarters right here in historic Downtown Hartford, Connecticut, and we have quite a show for you fine folks tonight!"
Saddler: "That's right, Mike! Not only are two members of The Gentlemen's Club going to be defending their titles, but we'll also be bringing you a pair of special Challenge Matches!"
Cantrell: "Two of our wrestlers here have petitioned General Manager Rick Murphy for the chance to get their hands on some very specific people! Those are going to be grudge matches like we have rarely seen here in the studio, Frankie! Let's get to it!"
We go now to the middle of the ring so the lovely Cindy Shepherd can use her golden voice to introduce...
* PG-13 (Wolfie D & J.C. Ice) w/ Jimmy Hart v. The James Gang (B.G. James & Kip James)- The match starts off with B.G. James in the ring with J.C. Ice. The James Gang is in control from the start, cutting the ring in half and keeping their opponent trapped with a series of quick tags and double-team moves. In no time, they hit a SPIKE PILEDRIVER on the hapless J.C. Ice and go for a quick cover... only to have Jimmy Hart's ringside presence pay off with a distraction! Wolfie D makes it into the match finally and takes the fight to B.G. James, but a mistimed backdrop attempt off the ropes sees James hit a DDT and follow it up with the PUMPHANDLE SLAM! B.G. James goes for the pin, and an already worn-out J.C. Ice tries to break up the pin, but gets chased off by Kip James! The winners of the match: The James Gang!
Cantrell: "A big win for the James Gang!"
Saddler: "And another crushing loss for Jimmy Hart's stable!"
Cantrell: "A tough break, but when you're in there with a team of the caliber of the James Gang... you have to be prepared to lose."
Saddler: "I'm predicting big things in the future for Jimmy Hart and Family, Mike. You heard it here first."
Cantrell: "You know something I don't, Frankie?"
Saddler: "Maybe. I'm not telling, though."
Cantrell: "Well, we'll have to keep our eyes open, I suppose. Let's go back to the ring!"
Once more, the fairest member of our broadcast team is in the ring, waiting to do her thing...
* Penny Banner v. Joyce Grable- There's a lot of give-and-take in this match between two very gifted ladies, with Grable maintaining control for most of the match. Things continue to go the way of Joyce Grable as she manages to hit Banner with the MIDDLE ROPE DROPKICK but Penny astonishes everyone by kicking out at the two and 1/2 count! Grable goes back on the offensive, but the time-limit expires before she can manage to put Banner away for good! Results: A Time-Limit Draw!
Cantrell: "We can always count on the ladies to give us a good match, am I right, Frankie?"
Saddler: "Yes, indeed, Mike. I'm sure N.E.W. Women's Champion April Hunter was following the results of that last match very closely..."
Cantrell: "She's got the championship, Frankie. With that comes a target on your back. I'm sure every one of the ladies in N.E.W. would love to get a shot at her, too."
Saddler: "Oh, I'm sure. April's a fighting champion, though. She'll take on anybody."
Cantrell: "So she says, anyway. Alright, folks, it's time for our first challenge match of the night! This one is a long time in the making, so let's not waste any more time and go to the ring!"
* Gorgeous George w/ Cherie Dupre v. Rikidozan w/ Miss Hitomi- Just like last time, both men take their time with all the 'pre-match rituals' and fussing about, but this time George is cut short by a sneak attack from the Japanese grappler! Rikidozan takes the advantage early, really putting a good beating on George, but somehow the Gorgeous One always managed to kick out or escape his predicament! Once the match has passed the ten-minute mark, Rikidozan manages to hit George with a PILEDRIVER, but the crafty George slips out of the ring for a breather!Rikidozan makes an attempt to pull George back into the ring, but is caught with a powerful punch right in the face! Stunned, Rikidozan is easy prey for George to hit the SMALL PACKAGE WITH TIGHTS for an easy pinfall victory! As the referee raises George's hand in victory, he is jumped from behind by two members of the Empire of the Rising Sun (Fuji & Saito) who have run out from the back! The three Japanese wrestlers once more go about attempting to put a beating on George, but Cherie makes a gesture to the back and out comes the big, scary, and altogether insane BRUISER BRODY! Brody hits the ring barking and swinging his chain, and the Empire of the Rising Sun all make a run for it, dragging along a terrified Miss Hitomi! The winner of the match: Gorgeous George!
After the match, George takes the house mic and declares:
Gorgeous George: "Rikidozan! Fuji and Saito! I want to introduce you to my insurance policy... one mister Bruiser Brody! From now on, you can refer to us as Beauty and the Beast! Ha!"
George and Brody continue to celebrate in the ring for a bit before heading to the locker rooms with Cherie Dupre going along.
Cantrell: "Holy cow, Frankie! Talk about an insurance policy!"
Saddler: "You know, Mike, I've been wondering when... and if... we were going to see Brody show up here in N.E.W. and here he is!"
Cantrell: "As great... and dangerous... an ally as Brody is for George, the numbers game still plays into the favor of the Empire, Frankie. We haven't seen the end of this war, yet. Not by a long shot."
Saddler: "Oh, you can say that again, Mike."
Cantrell: "Alright, folks, it is now time for the Television Championship match, so let's take you to it..."
Our very own beautiful Cindy Shepherd is in the ring to bring us...
*Greg "the Hammer" Valentine v. Claudio Castagnoli (Television Champion) w/ Ted DiBiase- Once more we see World Champion Ted DiBiase come to ringside in a smart suit and carrying with him his ever-present briefcase. The champion starts his attack before the introductions are even finished, nailing Valentine from behind and going straight to work! The champion is dominant for most of the match, until Greg Valentine slips outside of the ring, where a bit of a brawl erupts between the two men. The referee allows the men to get some of the aggression out of their systems and lets them fight for a few minutes when the challenger gets the better of the champion and tosses the helpless Claudio back into the ring and hits a vicious SHOULDER BREAKER and goes for a cover! World Champion Ted DiBiase manages to distract the referee and puts Castagnoli's foot on the bottom rope, breaking the pin! An irate Greg 'the Hammer' then hits the champion with a NECKBREAKER and once more goes for the pin... only to have the Champion kick out just before the three count! 'The Hammer' remains dominant and just mercilessly pummels the champion, but time gets away from him and the bell rings, signaling a time-limit draw! The two champions make their way to the back, acting like they scored some great victory as an irate Greg Valentine argues with the referee in the ring. Result: Time-limit draw!
Cantrell: "Well, Frankie, we just saw the luckiest man in the world in one Claudio Castagnoli... our N.E.W. Television Champion!"
Saddler: "For a minute there, I thought he had him, Mike!"
Cantrell: "Me too, Frankie! I'll tell you this much: having to defend the title so frequently must really wear down the champion."
Saddler: "You'd think so, but Claudio seems to be holding up just fine. It's nice to have friends in high places, huh?"
Cantrell: "You said it. With that, everyone, it's time for our second special challenge match of the night! Let's get to it!"
As always, our very own Cindy Shepherd is in the ring, doing her own special thing, bringing us...
* Chris Candido w/ Tammy Lynn Sytch v. Buff Bagwell- Bagwell attempts to ambush Candido on his way to the ring, but Chris and Tammy catch him, slamming him through a table at ringside! Chris rolls Bagwell back into the ring and sizes him up for a DIVING HEADBUTT, connecting solidly and getting an easy three-count! The winner of the match: Chris Candido!
Chris and Tammy celebrate in the ring, making a great spectacle as a defeated and dejected Buff Bagwell slinks back to the back, tail between his legs.
Cantrell: "I'm sure that in Buff's mind that there was going to be a different outcome to that pre-match attack, Frankie..."
Saddler: "Oh, I'm sure. How much are you willing to bet that Mister Bagwell wants to have that one back for a do-over?"
Cantrell: "I'd be willing to bet that World Champion Ted DiBiase would also want that one to be redone so he could have a little more time to prepare for our next match... tonight's Main Event!"
Saddler: "That's right, Mike. But let me ask you this: how does one prepare for an opponent like The Crusher?"
Cantrell: " Good question. I'd like to think that someone in the position of being the N.E.W. World Champion would be prepared for anything. Only one way to find out, though! Let's go to the ring!"
For the last time tonight, our lovely Miss Cindy Shepherd is in the ring, bringing us to tonight's main event...
*Main Event: The Crusher v. Ted DiBiase (World Champion) w/ Claudio Castagnoli- The Television champion seems to have recovered enough to have gotten into a sharp suit of his own, and he's carrying both his Television championship belt and the ever-present briefcase. Before the match starts, Crusher has some choice words with the Television champ at ringside, and a few for World Champion Ted DiBiase. DiBiase starts off on the offensive, but soon finds himself facing an uphill battle dealing with Crusher's power! Taking over, Crusher simply punishes the champion with repeated body slams and power forearms until DiBiase manages to slip outside! Crusher prepares to nail the champion with a double axe-handle fro mthe apron, but DiBiase catches him with a thrown chair in mid-air! Seeing it happen right before his eyes, the referee has no choice but to call for the bell, disqualifying the champion! The winner of the match (by disqualification): The Crusher!
An irate Crusher has some very nasty words with the helpless referee as the members of the Gentlemen's Club scramble back to the locker room area!
Cantrell: "What happened? What did we just see?"
Saddler: "That is one very sensitive referee, Mike."
Cantrell: "I smell a rat, Frankie. This wasn't the way it should have gone down!"
Saddler: "Maybe so, Mike, but Ted DiBiase is still our N.E.W. World Champion, whether we like it or not..."
Cantrell: "Alright, folks. That's all for this week. We'll see you here next week. Same time, same channel!"
Saddler: "Bye, folks!"
*the End*

New Era Wrestling: Card 9- Hartford, CT:
The standard introductory package airs, with highlights of the Ted DiBiase/Crusher title defense from our last show and we are then taken to an office, where General Manager Rick Murphy is sitting at a very nice desk with the always rumpled and slightly scruffy looking A.J. Costello standing behind him.
Rick Murphy: "Hello, everyone. We here in the office of New Era Wrestling wanted to tell you, personally, about the exciting plans we have for the future of N.E.W. and how we're moving forward, building on the unprecedented success that we've had so far."
A.J. Costello: "We couldn't be happier."
Murphy: "The biggest piece of news we have for you is that in just four weeks, New Era Wrestling will be presenting to you our first-ever Pay Per View event... which we are calling 'Total War'!"
Costello: "It will be our biggest and most daring production yet."
Murphy: "With that goal in mind, we here in the office have decided that at the Total War event... all five of our championships will be contested for on the same night, something we've never done before."
Costello: "The stipulation that all titles will be defended on the Pay Per View is in addition to the required, mandatory defenses for our championship titles... meaning that all of our championships will be on the line at least twice this month, instead of the usual once per month stipulation."
Murphy: "We have also decided that at Total War there will be a Battle Royal, with the winner earning a title shot at whatever championship he wishes."
Costello: "We are also considering the idea that some of the matches we will be signing for Total War will have further stipulations and may, in fact, become specialty matches."
Murphy: "I believe we've taken up enough of your time for the night, and we'll take you back to ringside with Mike and Frankie. Good night and God bless."
We resume our regular show, once more getting to view the gorgeous Cindy Shepherd in the middle of the ring, waiting to do the first introductions of the night.
"Mad" Mike Cantrell: "Hello again, folks, and welcome back to New Era Wrestling!"
Frankie Saddler: "Coming to you, like usual, from N.E.W. Headquarters here in the historic downtown district of Hartford, Connecticut!"
Cantrell: "That's right! So, how about the special announcements from the men in the office, Frankie? Every championship will be defended as usual and once again at Total War! Exciting stuff!"
Saddler: "You said it, Mike. I'm more interested in the big Battle Royal with the winner getting a shot at whatever title they want! That's going to be big. Everyone's going to want in on that, I betcha!"
Cantrell: "That said, I think we've kept Miss Shepherd waiting long enough. Let's get tonight's action started!"
We rejoin Cindy in the ring for the following introductions...
*"Ravishing" Rick Rude w/ Bobby 'the Brain' Heenan v. Austin Aries- The match starts with both men feeding their egos and trying to out-flex and out-pose each other, but it rapidly escalates into a fight with the Ravishing One taking the upper hand and putting an unmerciful beating on "A Double" that he just can't seem to stop. Rude toys with his man for almost the entire match, coming close to pinning him on more than one occasion only to stop the count. Finally and mercifully, Rude decided to end things with a RUDE AWAKENING in the closing minutes of the match, securing the pinfall and the victory. The winner of the match: "Ravishing" Rick Rude!
Cantrell: "Wow! How about that for an opening match! Rick Rude putting on a clinic on how to torture and torment an opponent!"
Saddler: "He could have had Aries beat at any time there. I think Rude was using that poor kid to send a message."
Cantrell: "A message, indeed. But... to who?"
Saddler: "Who indeed! I have a hunch, but I'm not saying any more until I get some confirmation, Mike."
Cantrell: "Fair enough, Frankie. Let's go back to the action!"
Once again, we join the lovely Cindy Shepherd for the following introductions...
*The Wild-Eyed Southern Boys (Tommy Rich & Tracy Smothers) v. The Men of Character (Ilio DiPaolo & Mike DiBiase)- The match starts off with a round of sportsman-like handshakes all around, then we start off with Rich in the ring with DiPaolo. The match is furious and fast-paced with both teams making frequent tags and exchanges. The advantage is traded off regularly until the final moments of the match, which sees Smothers catch DiBiase with a JUMPING WHEEL KICK and a quick cover, resulting in a three count and a clean victory for the Southern Boys! After the match, all four men once again shake hands and the Men of Character leave Rich and Smothers in the ring to celebrate. The winners of the match: Wild Eyed Southern Boys!
Cantrell: "Did we just see a match with no cheating or other shenanigans?"
Saddler: "I believe we did."
Cantrell: "And to think you said it looked like we'd never live to see that, too. I think you owe me a drink, Frankie."
Saddler: "I suppose I do. A bet's a bet."
Cantrell: "That said, let's get back to it!"
For the third time tonight, Miss Shepherd takes the ring to announce...
*Harley Race v. Nigel McGuiness w/ Johnny Saint- Neither man is in any mood to play around tonight, and the match turns into a wild brawl from the start! After a short bit of time, the advantage is firmly in the hands of McGuiness, and he intends to capitalize. Nigel manages to catch Race with a corner-to-corner forearm strike for a near fall somewhere around the ten-minute mark. Race is down and out, but McGuiness fails to finish him off before the allotted time runs out! As the bell sounds the time-limit draw, we see World Champion Ted DiBiase watching from the entrance area laughing and nodding to himself. The results: Time-limit draw!
Cantrell: "A hard-fought match, that's for sure! I bet McGuiness wishes he could have had just a few more minutes in that one!"
Saddler: "You know it, Mike. That's got to be frustrating for a hungry, young competitor like McGuiness."
Cantrell: "I don't know about you, Frankie, but I wouldn't mind seeing those two gentlemen have another go of it..."
Saddler: "I'm sure both men involved would like to see a decisive win either way over a draw, Mike."
Cantrell: "As would our audience, I'm sure. So, are you excited Frankie? Your girlfriend April Hunter is in tonight's Main Event, defending her Women's Championship..."
Saddler: "I could only dream of having her as a girlfriend, Mike!"
Cantrell: "I... sure. Okay, then. Once more back to ringside!"
The lovely Cindy Shepherd and her golden voice are waiting in the ring to bring us...
*The Iron Sheik v. "Superstar" Bill Dundee w/ Jimmy Hart- The Iron Sheik starts off strong and is in complete control for the entire match, until Dundee manages to slip outside for a breather. The Sheik follows him out to the floor and the two men engage in a wild brawl that the referee just can't regain control of. The reluctant referee calls for the bell, disqualifying both men! Result: A double disqualification!
Cantrell: "Okay. Things are getting back to normal with that match, I see."
Saddler: "I was wondering when we were going to see something like this, Mike."
Cantrell: "And to think that things were going so well for a while, there... oh, well. That's the nature of the business and it's just how things go here in New Era Wrestling!"
Saddler: "It's always interesting, here!"
Cantrell: "You can say that again, Frankie! Okay, we've got one more match to get through before tonight's Main Event, so let's get to it!"
Back to the ring we go, for another introduction from the lovely Cindy Shepherd...
*"Exotic" Adrian Street w/ Miss Linda v. Antonio Inoki w/ Miss Hitomi- Street angers and enrages Inoki with his stalling and his antics, but once the Japanese grappler gets his hands on him, it's on! The battle rages without mercy for a long time, until Street makes it outside for a break. Inoki follows him outside and catches him, ramming his head into the guardrail while Miss Hitomi distracts the referee, however. Once back inside the ring, Inoki hits an ENZUIGIRI and levels his opponent, going for the cover! Miss Linda comes to Adrain's defense and gets the referee's attention to where she had put Street's foot on the bottom rope , breaking the count! A furious Antonio Inoki then locks on the OCTOPUS HOLD and Street has no choice but to submit! The winner of the match (by submission): Antonio Inoki!
After the match, Inoki is joined by Fuji and Saito in attempting to terrorize Miss Linda for her interference, but they are soon chased away by a chain-swinging Bruiser Brody and Gorgeous George who is armed with a steel chair!
Cantrell: "Things are definitely picking up with the Gorgeous George and Empire of the Rising Sun feud, aren't they?"
Saddler: "This might just end up being one of those specialty matches that Murphy and Costello were hinting at, Mike!"
Cantrell: "You know something? You might just be right, Frankie. I don't see how any 'normal' match could contain those two teams!"
Saddler: "George and Brody are going to need more than Adrian Street on their side, if they want to even up the numbers, though, Mike."
Cantrell: "This is true. I'm sure that George has something else up his sleeve, though. After all, bringing in Brody was a complete surprise that no one saw coming, right?"
Saddler: "Fair point. Okay! Everything is ready for the Main Event, now! I can't hardly wait!"
Cantrell: "This should be a good one, folks, as the General Manager has seen fit to give Nora Greenwald her wish and made tonight's Main Event! Let's get to the action!"
For the last time tonight, our lovely ring announcer is in the middle of the ring, ready to bring us...
*Main Event: Nora Greenwald v. "Big Red" April Hunter (Women's Champion)- The champion starts off strong and aggressive, really working her opponent over something fierce for a good portion of the match. Things change in an instant though when Hunter whips Greenwald into the ropes but is caught on the rebound with a small package! The champion manages to kick out before the three count, but Nora is on the offensive, hitting a flapjack on the champion, who decides that discretion is the better part of valor and slips out of the ring for some air. Greenwald, in an effort to press her advantage, hits April with a spectacular suicide dive from inside the ring! As both ladies are recovering, the champion grabs her title belt from ringside and defiantly stalks back to the locker room area, leaving the referee no choice but to count her out! The victorious, but very angry, Nora Greenwald celebrates her win in the middle of the ring, making motions of putting the belt on herself. Winner of the match: Nora Greenwald!
Cantrell: "What we just witnessed, ladies and gentlemen, was a travesty of justice!"
Saddler: "Say what you will, Mike, but April Hunter is still the champion!"
Cantrell: "With Total War coming up and her having to defend again... with who knows what for a stipulation... she may not be for much longer!"
Saddler: "You're just a hater, Mike."
Cantrell: "I... did you just call me a hater? Where did that come from? Anyway... that does it for this week, ladies and gentlemen! We'll meet you back here next and do it all over again!"
*the End*
