A wild night in Pittsburgh, Bookerbill, and no one came away with the tag team titles. Wow I did not expect that but hopefully we see a rematch between PG-13 and the Midnight Express to determine the new champions. RVD with a dominant win over Sabu was a huge surprise and I liked adding the bonus bouts between Saint and "Bullet" Bob and Mad Dog and Brodie Lee. Great on the fly booking there.

Promoter’s Notes: Just for the record, the roll on the federation management chart resulted in no roster changes. However, there is still one competitor from the original draft that has yet to see action and this international superstar will make his debut this weekend!
News and Views: Commissioner Charlie Cox had his fingerprints all over tonight’s action making two impromptu singles matches after the top half of the Title Tournament draw was wiped out by back to back Broadway finishes. However the biggest test for the Commissioner came at the end of the night when the referee disqualified both teams in the Tag Team Tournament finals. Cox is still considering the outcome and will make an official announcement regarding the status of the Tag Team Titles at this week's card . . . Brodie Lee is expected to miss at least one week of action after being attacked by the Vachon Brothers following his disqualification loss to Mad Dog Vachon. Lee was said to be unhappy with Austin Ares for not coming to his aid despite having teamed with Lee earlier in the night. . . Up next, the WWL returns to Bridgeport CT and will feature the following action:
• Jim Powers makes what should be an emotional return to the ring when he steps between the ropes against the man who put him on the shelf, Larry Hennig • In a huge six man tag team encounter, Jushin Liger, Mike Quackenbush & Rob Van Dam will join forces to battle the trio of Trent Acid, Sabu and Austin Aries • On top it will be a rematch of the WWL Title Tournament finals as Frank Gotch defends the strap against the Nature Boy Buddy Rogers • Ed Lewis, Brad Armstrong, Eddie Gilbert, Kevin Steen, Tracey Smothers will also be in action along with a ladies tag team encounter

Card 05 – Bridgeport, CT – The Arena - October 4, 2013
Ed Lewis v. Konnan Despite being selected as part of the original roster, Konnan is making his in ring debut tonight and he has the crowd fired up with some call and response on the mic. Konnan looks like a superstar from the opening bell showcasing all of his offense including a sit out face buster,187 and TEQUILA SUNRISE before getting the win with a perfect deathjump cross body block. Lewis has zero offense in this one as his stock continues to fall. Time: 0:52. Dud
Kevin Steen v. Brad Armstrong The fans cannot decide whether or not they like Steen but Steen appears to care less himself. Armstrong gets a solid ovation specially from the youngsters and the ladies in attendance. Armstrong started out strong but Steen soon used his power to take over the action leading the way with a sick looking power bomb. Armstrong survived two PACKAGE PILEDRIVERS before getting back into the action. The bout ended up on the floor where Steen was disqualified for clocking Armstrong with a chair shot. The fans boo Steen out of ringside and he seems to love it. Time: 2:22. ***
Nora Greenwald & Penny Banner v. Judy Martin & Leilani Kai Our first tag team encounter of the night was up next and the action was evenly contested from the outset with all four ladies in the match at some point. Kai tags in against Greenwald and uses a scoop slam to set up a RUNNING SPLASH for the three count. Time: 2:09 *
Mike Quackenbush, Jushin Liger & Rob Van Dam v. Trent Acid, Austin Aries & Sabu The faces really work well together in this one cutting off Acid from this corner and working him over. Aries really fairs no better but Sabu is finally able to turn things around. We finally get Sabu v. Van Dam and the fans eat up each move. Van Dam gets the upper hand and the action goes to the floor. Leg drop across the guardrail and then Van Dam rolls Sabu into the ring and hooks the leg for the three count (cats eyes). As Gary Michael Cappetta announces the winners, Sabu jumps Van Dam starting a wild brawl. Security arrives to break things up. Time: 3:42 ** ½
Bill Apter hosts the Hot Seat with Commissioner Charlie Cox and Apter immediately asks about the tag team titles. Cox tells the fans that after review of the situation he has decided that there will be a rematch next week between PG 13 and The Midnight Express and it will be a ladder match! The first competitor to successful climb the ladder and obtain the title belts will win their team the gold. Jim Cornette leads the Midnight Express to the ring to confront Cox but the Commissioner tells Cornette that if he does not like it he would be happy to have security show him and his team the door. Larry Hennig v. Jim Powers Would lightning strike again? The fans sure hoped so. Powers starts strong and when the Axe bails to the floor Powers is right there and his time it is Powers who drops Hennig with a chair cross the back. The fans love it. Back in the ring, Powers hits a perfect POWER SLAM. 1, 2, 3 (cats eyes!) and Powers has done it again. The fans are on fire. Time 0:27 dud
Eddie Gilbert v. Tracey Smothers Gilbert is really working the crowd for heat. Smothers dominates the action in the ring from the opening bell but Gilbert manages to kick out after a JAWJACKER. The bout goes outside and Gilbert drags Smothers to the floor and sends him into the ring post. Smothers is busted open and the referee makes the disqualification call. Time: 1:12 *
Iron Mike DiBiase & Bob Orton Sr. v. Mad Dog Vachon & Butcher Vachon DiBiase & Orton manage to cut off Butcher Vachon from his corner from the outset and work him over in and out of the ring. DiBiase hits a solid looking spinning neckbreaker (ch) and gets the pin. Time: 0:50 dud
WWL Title Match – Frank Gotch (ch) v. Buddy Rogers w/Eddie Fyne The Nature Boy draws fantastic heat with his pre-match strutting. It is all action at the bell. Rogers get the early advantage but a FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE is reversed much to the pleasure of the fans. Rogers survives a GOTCH TOE HOLD himself as the action continues. Things get intense as the action goes in and out of the ring. Gotch uses a rolling knee bar on the floor and the Nature Boy is nearly counted out. Gotch then uses the hold again in the ring but Rogers makes it to the ropes. Gotch eats the ring post and is busted open and then Rogers also does colour off the post moments later. There is great visual of a bloody Rogers screaming as Gotch clamps down with a GOTCH TOE HOLD but the Nature Boy again makes it to the ropes. Gotch keeps up the attack and post Rogers a second time. The official as seen enough and calls for the disqualification. Gotch snaps at ringside and comes after Rogers but Rogers stops him with a low blow. The fans cheer the arrival Iron Mike DiBiase & Bob Orton Sr arrive at ringside but they start laying boots into Gotch with Fyne cheering them on. It is a three on one beat down and the fans are all over the heels. Rob Van Dam leads Konnan, Brad Armstrong, Mike Quackenbush and Jushin Liger to ringside to break things up. Rogers is announced as the winner as he leaves ringside with Orton, DiBiase & Fyne. Time: 3:13 *** ½

A great main event match and ending, but what was really cool is Konnan crushing Ed Lewis in the opening bout...

I agree with Crimson on the great main event ending. It was a wild night in Bridgeport with Jim Powers beating Larry Hennig again and that six-man tag was a great bout. I'm looking forward to PG-13 vs. Midnight Express in a Ladder Match to determine the first tag team champions.
