Card 5 – PWFC Arena
Mr. Fuji v. Abraham Lincoln
Lincoln is out to a solid ovation and we get a massif USA chant to get things going. Lincoln is clearly inspired by the support of the fans and takes about 75% of the action tonight but in and out of the ring. Fuji kicks out of a several near falls and does an offensive run half way through the contest but Lincoln was the star tonight and picked up the win with a THROAT LIFT SLAM. * ½
Team Extreme (S Cold Scorpio & Jerry Lynn) v. Larry Zbyszko & Dennis Condrey
Zbyszko is back in action after sitting out one card due to suspension. Condrey and Zbyszko manage to cut off Scorpio from the outset. Zbyszko rocks his opponent with a PILEDRIVER for a near fall and the Condrey finishes Scorpio with a FACE FIRST LEG SWEEP while Zbyszko blocks Lynn from making the pin save. Condrey and Zbyszko continue their attack after the bell but Lynn is able to get the best of Zbyszko and clears the ring with dropkicks saving Scorpio from injury. *
Light Heavyweight Title No. 1 Contenders Match – Tyler Black v. Danny Hodge
This one was amazing from start to finish. Black surprized some by taking the battle to Hodge early on but could not get the win with a PHOENIX SPLASH (2). Hodge slowed the pace down and battled hard to get back into the action punishing Black with holds and counters. Black refused to go down kicking out of two OKLAHOMA SIDE ROLLS. Black turned things back around at ringside running Hodge into the steel post shoulder first earning solid heat from ringside. Black’s offensive run lead to a second PHOENIX SPLASH but not the win. Hodge then made his own comeback once again working the leg with a series of Indian Deathlocks and then getting the victory with an OKLAHOMA SIDE ROLL. ****
PWFC Tag Team Champion One Man Gang w/Jimmy Hart v. Billy “Red” Lyons
How do you beat a man that is double your size? You get some help from opponent’s enemy. Gang looked very impressive early on including three consecutive press slams that drew fantastic heat. Lyons was able to duck a clothesline and land rapid fire dropkicks for a 1 count. A deathjump smash stunned Gang and Lyons tossed the big man to the floor. Suddenly Bruiser Brody appears and decked Gang with his chain. Gang goes down in a heap and is counted out of the ring. The fans love it as Brody storms to the back just as quickly as he arrived.*
Bill Apter hosts the Hot Seat with Light Heavyweight Champion Jim Londos who thanks the fans for their support. Londos comments on the number one contenders match tonight putting both Black and Hodge over as top competitors in the federation. Hodge comes out and interrupts the interview telling Londos he was lucky last time they met and next card he will take the title. Hodge and Londos get eye to eye and then Hodge shoves Londos knocking over Apter. Hodge leaves while Londos checks on the host.
PWFC Tag Team Champion King Kong Bundy w/Jimmy Hart v. Bruiser Brody
Brody hits the ring with his chain and looks to be 100% recovered from his injuries. This one was epic. Brody is a force early on battering Bundy from corner to corner but the big man from Jersey weathers the storm and slows thing down. Outside, Bundy sends Brody into the post busting him open and then squeezes the blood out with a big bear hug while Apter snaps shots from ringside no doubt for a future covershot. Brody survives the AVALANCHE (second roll kick out) and then mounts his comeback busting open Bundy at ringside off the ring rails. With both men a bloody mess, Brody connects with a JUMPING KNEE DROP that would have ended the match but Hart causes a distraction keeping Bundy alive. Brody then hits a second JUMPING KNEE DROP but Hart again gets on the apron and this time his megaphone falls into the ring. Bundy grabs the megaphone and decks Brody. Bundy has the advantage but Brody again survives the AVALANCHE (second roll kick out). The fans get behind Brody but he struggles against Bundy’s power attack. Another AVALANCHE gets a two ½ count (second roll kick out) before Bundy hits a third one a few minutes later but again Brody somehow gets the shoulder up (second roll kick out). The fans are frantic as Bundy connects with an elbow drop off ropes and gets the three count. *****
Double Axe Attack (Curt Hennig & Larry Hennig) v. The Colony (Soldier Ant & Fire Ant)
The action in the ring goes back and forth as both teams make key defensive tags but the Hennigs appear to be setting the pace. Soldier Ant and Curt Hennig go to the floor and Solider Ant reverses an Irish whip that sends Hennig into the ring post. The referee immediately signals for the disqualification. For the third straight match between these two teams, the finish has been a controversial disqualification call against the Colony. The Hennigs celebrate at ringside leaving a frustrated Colony in the ring with the referee. *
Tony Atlas v. Rikidozan
The battle between these two on Card 3 ended with a lot of heat so the fans were really looking forward to this one. Atlas is in control of this one early on with shoulder tackles, head butts and double chops to the neck. Rikidozan is able to counter one of the double chops and scores with a head butt of his own followed by a scoop slam for a 2 count. Rikidozan then puts Atlas’s shoulders to the mat with a HIPLOCK for the shocking win. *
PWFC Title Match – Steve Williams (ch) v. Randy Savage w/Sherri Martel
Savage is a like a wild animal tonight and is all over the champion from the opening bell. Williams is busted open early on but manages to kick out after a FLYING ELBOW DROP. The attack just keeps coming both in and out of the ring. Martel gets in a choke drawing great heat from ringside. Williams lands the occasional blow but it the Macho Man’s night as he captures the title with another huge FLYING ELBOW DROP. ** ½
