Thanks Crue, Ace and AJ for the comments.
FCC 24 –Battle for the Gold, Boutwell Auditorium, Birmingham, Alabama
Savage T w/KJ Hill v. The Mountie
Great heat for the Mountie as he makes his way to the ring. Mountie dominates this one including a SHORT CHOKE SLAM for a near fall. T is able to counter a deathjump with a boot to the face and then thrills the fans with a deathjump cross body that gets a 2 ½ count. Mountie regain the advantage running T into the ring post. Mountie then unleashes the SHOCK STICK and gets the three count over the objections of Hill from ringside. * ½
Ilio DiPaolo v. Dupae Rupa
DiPaolo is over with the fans at ringside and he gives them plenty to cheer about early on including an AIRPLANE SPIN that gets a 2 count. Rupa takes a beating but comes back when he runs DiPaolo into the ring post. In the ring, a BELGIAN WAFFLE gets a near fall before DiPaolo brawls his way back into control and ends it with a running head ram into the buckles. * ½
Fritz Von Goering v. Angelo Mosca
With these two across the ring from each other the fans expected chaos and with Mosca in control of the action that is exactly what they got. A SLEEPER could not finish Von Goering so Mosca loaded up his elbow pad to inflict more damage. Von Goering was up for the challenge tonight and managed to counter a spinning neckbreaker to get back into the action. Von Goering was then able to get the three count with a BACKBREAKER but it looked like Mosca may have kicked out at the last second. While Mosca confronts the referee Von Goering attacks him from behind with a chair shot leaving him in a heap in the middle of the ring. **
Bill Apter hosts the Hot Seat with Jimmy Snuka as his guest. We get a great promo from the Superfly telling the fans that Harker Dirge will soon feel his wrath.
The Boys from Jersey (King Kong Bundy, Steve Corino & Buddy Rogers) w/Larry Sharpe v. Johnny Valentine & ?? and ??
When Virgil and George South are introduced as Johnny Valentines partners Sharpe and his mean share a huge laugh at the expense of Valentine. Virgil gets the start against Corino but is able to avoid a leg lariat and tags in Valentine who beats the stuffing out of Corino and forces the action to the floor. Corino is in serious trouble so Sharpe joins the battle at ringside and is disqualified. The fight continues after the bell. Suddenly Diamond Dallas Page comes out of the crowd to a huge ovation but Valentine is his target and he takes him out with a DIAMOND CUTTER as Bundy crushes both Virgil and South with splashes. Page, Corino, Rogers and Bundy stand with Sharpe in the middle of the ring drawing huge heat. There are now four Boys from Jersey! * ½
Jushin Liger v. Tiger Mask
A puroresu ceremony starts the third bout between these two this season with each competitor having a win. This was another fast paced clash between these two Japanese legends. Mask nearly stole an early pinfall with an inside cradle after being sent into the ropes but Liger was able to kick out at the last second. Later a back suplex put Liger to the mat for another near fall but that was it for Mask tonight. Liger stepped up his attack and dominated the balance of the action including three consecutive FISHERMAN BUSTERS at one point but Mask refused to lose. Mask also kicked out after a shoda and two more FISHERMAN BUSTERS before attempting a dive to the floor that missed. Mask crashed to the floor in sick looking spot and had nothing left to counter Liger’s BRAINBUSTER. ****
Paul Ellering & FCC Tag Team Champions Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal) v. Jim Cornette & Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton & Dennis Condrey)
The fans are all over Cornette as he stands in the ring looking scared out of his mind. Ellering thrills the fans by jumping Cornette at the bell beating him from corner to corner. Animal joins his manager for a double clothesline but Ellering misses a deathjump smash and crashes to the mat. Cornette hooks the leg for two and then tags in Eaton. The Express batter Ellering including a Double Goozle before hitting Ellering with a ROCKET LAUNCHER. The Warriors are not able to save their manager and the Express have a huge win. * ½
FCC Title Match – Mil Mascaras (ch) v. Frank Gotch
The fans are on their feet for both men during the introductions and a handshake gets the action underway. The pace is very quick which favours the champion until Gotch counters a backdrop with a piledriver. Mascaras gets tossed to the floor and is able to crawl back in but Gotch is ready with a GOTCH TOE HOLD. Incredibly, Mascaras has no counter and we have a new FCC Champion (cats eyes). *
