C4! BLAST ZONE - THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 18
We are live inside the ring at The Dayton Convention Center for another Blast Zone - Your hosts are Mark Lowrance and Spike
MARK - Welcome to another edition of Blast Zone, the official news magazine show for C4! Wrestling. I'm your host Mark Lowrance and joining me tonight is the owner of C4! Spike.....Spike, Welcome SPIKE - Thank You Mark MARK - Another wild week of action last Saturday night here in the Dayton Convention Center. Harley Race retains the Universal Heavyweight Championship with a resounding victory over Rush, Rhiannon defeating Strafe for the Universal Women's Championship, and for the third time in four weeks another fighter decides to attack a referee, and it was one of the few fighters we would never expect to do such a thing. It started out innocently enough as Star Warrior took on ally and tag team partner Wolf. The match started innocently enough, clean hard competition, then it spills out of the ring, Star Warrior going too far in pressing his advantage according to the referee and gets the DQ, which seemed to shock both him AND Wolf. Warrior then snaps and powerslams the referee. SPIKE - Totally uncharacteristic for Star Warrior MARK - I know you wanted to talk about that tonight, so the floor is yours. What's on your mind? SPIKE - Well Mark, I founded this company on tough, hard, gritty wrestling action, but already three guys are on suspension for attacking referees. So I found myself asking, well, do I let them fight outside the ring, and perhaps endanger the fans, or put tighter restrictions on them. With all the DQ's we've had, it unfortunately is costing us TV Ratings, because it's affecting match quality and our fans don't like it. MARK - So what do we do? SPIKE - I'm going to enforce a new rule which I think will help - When two fighters are tangled up near the ropes, rather than letting them fall outside the ring, the referee will now have the option, similar to Mixed Martial Arts, to have them break and restart in the center of the ring. I've talked to Harley Race and Rhiannon, our champions, about it, they're willing to go along with it, and I'm expecting the talent roster on both sides to go along with it. Perhaps it will cut down on heated tempers a bit and we'll begin enforcing this new rule with this weekend's action. I am also proposing another change and we'll hold off on that one until we see how this one works.
I've also decided to shorten One Man Gang's suspension from indefinitely to October 11. He has though been issued a stern warning to not let that happen again. I expect him to beat up his opponents, the referees are another story, and the same will go for Minister Of War and Star Warrior, Minister will be eligible to return October 11, and Star Warrior will be eligible to return October 25. I have to admit I was not real clear on combat outside the ring, so to suspend them indefinitely is not fair to them for that reason. MARK - What's the latest on the injuries to Brute and Jigsaw? SPIKE - Well, Brute is as cranky as ever, guess he's not called the Galactic Headbanger for nothing! Anyway, he seems to be healing nicely in both his leg and arm, he will be eligible to come back on October 25. Jigsaw has some deep bruising in his chest and a throat injury that caused him to cough up some blood during his match with Henry Irslinger and his flying headlocks, he will be eligible to come back November 1 MARK - OK, seeing as how we have two spots to fill on the Men's Active Roster, let's do that right now. SPIKE - Great idea. The two men who will compete against each other this weekend as the new members of the Men's Active Roster are........Larry Hennig and Ed Strangler Lewis MARK - And I also understand we'll be at a new location this weekend? SPIKE - That's right Mark, for the first time we'll be at that great old wrestling mecca, The Cincinnati Gardens, this weekend, and I'm certainly looking forward to it.
MARK - And that will bring to a close another edition of Blast Zone. For Spike, I'm Mark Lowrance, we'll see you this weekend. So long everybody!

C4! EXPLOSION - VOLUME 6 - SATURDAY 9/20/14
Tonight C4! leaves the comfy confines of the Dayton Convention Center and heads about 50 miles south to another grand old wrestling mecca, Cincinnati Gardens in Cincinnati, OH. Built in 1949 as a multipurpose building primarily for hockey, basketball, and boxing, it has hosted RAW and SMACKDOWN, as well as TNA. It was a regular stop on the Big Time Wrestling tours in the 70's, and a video of Killer Brooks vs Haystacks Calhoun on YouTube was a match from the Gardens. It is also a concert venue as well.
Your hosts as always are Mark Lowrance and Paul Ellering
Mark and Paul welcome us to the show and we preview tonight's live card. Mark tells us that due to a new rating system put into place, Rush and Strafe will both have rematches tonight against Rhiannon and Harley Race, respectively, for C4!'s World Championships, but if they do not win tonight, this may be their last shot for a while. Paul goes over the new break rules for fighters talked about by Spike on last Thursday's Blast Zone, and how they are in effect tonight. We also talk about the revised suspensions for Star Warrior and One Man Gang. It's now time to recap tonight's Kickoff Matches, as we go to earlier footage......
PORTIA PEREZ V. VICTORIA PAUL - Portia particularly vicious tonight, attacking Victoria with unbridled ferocity and getting a very quick win with a Jaw Breaker. Victoria appeared to have some dental work loosened, but she says she's fine, though upset at losing.
KELLIE SKATER V. SCORN PAUL - Evenly fought match by both ladies, Scorn catching an opening, wearing down Kellie with her superior power and hitting Burning Scorn for the win
ALERE LITTLE FEATHER V. KRISSY VAINE PAUL - Little Feather unable to get out of the blocks, and Krissy takes advantage and scores the win with a leg drop
LARRY HENNIG V. ED STRANGLER LEWIS PAUL - A battle between a couple of real sluggers here, Strangler controlling most of the action with technical wrestling, but gets a little too anxious on a corner charge, Larry rolling him up for the win
SLY DRURY V. GORDO PAUL - Due to the revised ratings system, these two fighting each other for the second straight week. Pretty evenly fought until Drury hits a spear out of nowhere with such ferocity that Gordo's head bounces on the mat. Drury with the victory and Gordo wobbly after the match, he's currently being examined by doctors right now
HAWK V. BRIAN DANIELSON PAUL - Hawk exploiting a 90 pound weight advantage to perfection, just wearing out Danielson with power moves and hitting the Flying Clothesline for the win
MARK - We now head backstage to Gene Okerlund, who is with Awesome Kong GENE - Thank you Mark and Paul, Awesome Kong, you get Mercedes Martines tonight in the #1 Contender Match, and you're knocking on the door to your own title shot in the future, what about it? KONG (Glares at Gene, then glares at the camera) - DEAD.............they're all dead...........(Walks off) GENE - A woman of few words with a mission, Mark and Paul, back to you MARK - As always, the lovely Amber Gertner, who doubles as a backstage interviewer, acts as ring announcer tonight, so let's head up to her for our opening match.
PENNY BANNER V. MADUSA MICELI Penny tries for the early advantage with power moves. Madusa reverses a full nelson and hits a snap suplex. Penny fights out of a huracanrana with a beautiful reversal into a Boston Crab. After making Madusa suffer a bit, Penny sends her to the ropes and hits a Clothesline. Penny sends Madusa to the ropes again and this time both hit a clothesline and go down. Penny is up first, she goes to the top and hits a flying shoulderblock. Penny with a Small Cradle for a near fall. Penny tries again, this time spiking Madusa's head into the mat before scoring another Small Cradle for the victory at 2:29.
MARK – A rather unique way to win with a cradle, don't you think? PAUL – I've never seen anything like that, but it was effective, Madusa appearing a little out of it after being spiked headfirst into the mat.
TAICHI V. RAIN Taichi staggers Rain with strikes to start the match. Rain blocks a kick, sends Taichi to the ropes, and gets dropped on the top rope charging in. Taichi immediately going for a Knee Bar, but Rain escapes. Taichi goes for the Knee Bar again, Rain escapes again. Taichi with kicks that stagger Rain, and a vicious Muay Thai kick that puts Rain on the mat. Taichi to the top rope, and she hits a flying shoulderblock, and then another. Taichi locks in an Arm Triangle, and this time Rain with nowhere to go, submitting at 2:19
MARK – Taichi, with brutal efficienty, dispatching Rain rather quickly PAUL – So far, two matches, two quick victories, everyone seems real serious about getting it done tonight. MARK – Next up is the perfect match of barroom brawler vs wrestler. Back up we go to Amber Gertner
PEGGY LEE LEATHER V. DAIZEE HAZE Peggy begins beating down Daizee right at the opening bell. Peggy works a rope choke to perfection, and Daizee is hurt early. Peggy mashes Daizee in the corner with a running clothesline. Peggy hits Last Call and gets a near fall. Peggy lays on Daizee with a chin lock, then hits her with a running forearm in the corner. Peggy with shoulders and forearms, continuing the beatdown. Peggy sets for a choke slam and hits it for a near fall. Peggy locks in a stomach claw and causes Daizee to pass out from the pain. Peggy by submission in 3:09
MARK – Was it me, or did Daizee not get in a lick of offense? PAUL – No, she didn't. Peggy just totally dominating Daizee throughout. MARK – Next up, the ultimate match of speed vs power. Back up to Amber....
ULTRAMANTIS BLACK V. NIKOLAI VOLKOFF Volkoff blocks a chop by Black and hits consecutive powerslams to start the match. Volkoff to the top rope, but Black catches him and tosses him into the ring. Black with a flying lariat and an electric chair drop on the larger opponent. Black hits a double knee backbreaker and Volkoff is rattled. Black hits another one and scores somewhat of an upset via pinfall in 1:56
MARK – Ultramantis Black on fire right now with four consecutive wins since coming onto the Men's Active Roster PAUL – Right now he can't do no wrong. His last two wins have been in under two minutes each, I'd say he's the hottest fighter on the roster right now. MARK – One of his victims, Kenji, is up next, and it's been speculated that Kenji might be hiding something injury wise since his brutal match with Brute PAUL – I have wondered that myself, and he doesn't have it easy tonight against the wildman Wolf.
KENJI V. WOLF Kenji strikes fast and tries sending Wolf to the corner. Wolf reverses and hits a running forearm. Kenji deflecting a kick and hits a leg drop. After some back and forth reversals, Kenji hits a roundhouse kick that puts Wolf down. Kenji with an Ankle Lock and Wolf powers out. Kenji with a Knee Bar and Wolf escapes. Kenji with another Knee Bar and Wolf escapes again. Kenji with another Ankle Lock, this time securing a grapevine, and Wolf, with nowhere to go, taps out. Kenji with the submission victory at 2:53
MARK – Kenji displaying that pit bull tenacity he showed in his match with Brute, and it pays off against Wolf PAUL – Wolf seems to be in a slump, having lost three of his last four. Let's hope he can snap out of it, he's still one of the most popular fighters on the C4! Roster. MARK – Our next match has the potential to be a technical showcase
GEORGE HACKENSCHMIDT V. HENRY IRSLINGER Henry going for a body lock to start the match, but George reverses into a body scissors and then a backbreaker. George hits another backbreaker, a waistlock suplex, and another body scissors. George with another suplex and a heel hook. Henry escapes another body scissors and sends George to the ropes. George with a running back elbow to regain control. Henry escapes, scores a takedown with a back leg trip, and clotheslines George coming off the ropes. Henry maintains a scissors hold, then transitions to a toe hold, bringing George to the mat. Henry sends George out of the ring, and George sends Henry to the guardrail. George back in control with a keylock armbar. George with a backbreaker and a heel hook. George clamps on the Russian Bear Hug, but Henry escapes. George clamps on the Russian Bear Hug again, and this time Henry screams in pain before passing out. George with the submission victory at 5:57
MARK – A great match while it lasted PAUL – It was indeed, but Henry wincing and holding his ribs as he left the ring. He's getting examined as we speak for possible damage to the ribs. MARK – Folks, it's that time again, time to determine our contender and our champions, so let's head back up to Amber
#1 CONTENDER'S MATCH – AWESOME KONG V. MERCEDES MARTINEZ Kong starts the match with a primal scream. Undaunted, Mercedes sends Kong to the corner and eats an elbow for her efforts. Kong send Mercedes to the corner and goes for a spear, but Mercedes moves and Kong goes out of the ring. As Mercedes comes thru the ropes, Kong hits her with a perfectly timed spinning backfist from the outside. Kong comes back in, hits a stunned Mercedes with an Awesome Bomb, and gets the pin at 1:01
MARK – Wow! Awesome Kong making a statement with that win! PAUL – Just beautifully set up by Kong with the surprise spinning backfist from outside the ring, catching Mercedes flush in the face, the rest was academic MARK – Rikidozan on a three match winning streak, can he continue it against the surging Delirious? We find out next
#1 CONTENDER'S MATCH - RIKIDOZAN VS DELIRIOUS Riki goes for a takedown to start the match, but Delirious stuffs it and hits a Panic Attack and a cobra stretch. Riki blocks a kick and blisters Delirious with chops, putting him down on the mat. Riki with a piledriver. Riki sends Delirious to the ropes where they collide in the middle of the ring. Riki up first and goes for a Hiplock, but the two get tangled in the ropes and the referee orders a restart. Off the restart Riki hits a snapmare. Delirious blocks a kick and hits a kick of his own. They go back and forth for a minute, until Riki hits a chest slap that hurts Delirious. Riki with a stomp, a flying headscissors, and a head butt. Riki with chops to bring Delirious down. Riki with a Hiplock for a near fall. Riki with a piledriver. Riki sends Delirious out of the ring and hits a flying clothesline from the apron. Riki with a Chop Uppercut back in the ring, and Delirious barely escapes. Riki with a Boston Crab and a Hiplock, and Delirious kicks out. Riki with another Hiplock out of nowhere, and this time he scores the pin. Time 5:50
MARK – Four in a row for Rikidozan! PAUL – At some point I see him and Ultramantis Black tangling. That will be one to see MARK – Strafe wants her championship back. Does Rhiannon want it more? We find out next
C4! UNIVERSAL WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP – RHIANNON © V. STRAFE Off the lockup, Rhiannon sends Strafe to the corner and hits a running forearm. Rhiannon starts hitting body shots and Strafe is down. Rhiannon with a DDT and a choke to keep Strafe down. Rhiannon with a head slam. Strafe reverses a hammerlock attempt and hits the Aethran Coup Cannon. Strafe with a piledriver and a suplex. Strafe with a scissor kick and Rhiannon is down. Strafe sends Rhiannon outside and Rhiannon clocks Strafe as she comes through the ropes. Rhiannon sends Strafe to the outside and then back in. Rhiannon with a DDT. Rhiannon goes for a slam, but Strafe escapes and hits a dropkick. Strafe with another ACC to take Rhiannon down. Strafe with a flying shoulderblock, followed by a power bomb. Strafe with a suplex and choke slam. Rhiannon reverses a tombstone attempt and hits a fallaway slam for a near fall. Rhiannon with the Banshee Wail out of nowhere and scores the surprise pin at 5:30. Rhiannon retains the C4! Universal Women's Championship.
MARK – A fairly competitive match with Rhiannon pulling one out of nowhere PAUL – Rhiannon starting to make her mark in the Women's division with a great win over a tough competitor. MARK – Harley Race has beaten Rush two straight. Can he make it three tonight?
C4! UNIVERSAL HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP – HARLEY RACE © V. RUSH Harley escapes a Driver attempt and hits a headbutt. Rush deflects a second headbutt and sends Harley into the corner, only to eat an elbow. Harley with suplexes and an Indian Deathlock that has Rush howling in pain. Harley releases the hold and Rush favoring the right leg. Harley hits a flying shoulderblock. Rush escapes a shoulder breaker and hits Harley with a stunner. Rush with a decapitator, then chokes Harley on the ropes. Rush with a piledriver and another stunner and Harley is down. Rush with an ACC and a DDT. Rush sends Harley to the corner, but Harley dodges his charge and Rush flies out of the ring. Harley sends Rush's head into the steel rail, drawing a DQ from the referee at 3:34. Rush attacked Harley after the match and they got into a pull apart brawl, which required security to separate. Rush is your official winner, but Harley retains the title by DQ.
As they are being led back to the back, Harley and Rush break loose and begin fighting thru the doorway...... MARK – Gene Okerlund, what's going on back here GENE (As Harley and Rush fight) – This has gotten out of hand, guys. These two going at it hammer and tong, obviously Rush not happy about the way he won, and management content to let them fight it out as between them they've dropped several security guards trying to intervene.
Backstage, Rush piledrives Race on the floor. Rush with a stunner, then he smashes Harley with a trash can. Rush smashes Harley again. Rush hits a Decapitator and sends Harley flying over a road case. Rush puts Harley through a table with The Tempest and Harley is out. Rush takes the title belt and throws it on Harley's chest before kicking him in the side and walking off.
MARK – WOW! This rivalry has reached a boiling point. I'm interested in seeing how tne Ratings Committee and their new system will see this. Paul is in back trying to help out with the carnage, and we're just about out of time, so for Paul, Gene Okerlund, and Amber Gertner, I'm Mark Lowrance. We'll see you Thursday for Blast Zone. Good night everybody!

Great stuff. DO you have your ratings system laid out anywhere? Thanks Toaster - While perusing the message boards one day I found an alternative ratings system. I forgot who posted it, but basically he worked off of a 10 point system for matches. Finisher win was 9 points for winner and 1 for loser, regular win by pinfall or submission was 8-2, countout was 7-3, DQ win was 6-4 and either Double DQ or Draw was 5-5. He laid it out over a 365 day period with the theory that as the year wore on, points were worth less and less. I use a rolling six month total point score, which is the current match and the previous five matches. I still create shows, custom rosters, and all that online. I was using the online generated ratings, but I did not think it was fair that a new guy could come in, win one or two matches, and zoom right to the top ten past guys who had wrestled more. Using this system kind of evens things out, you might say. I run 16 fighters to a fed, or in my case, 16 men and 16 women, who fight in supercard format (16 v 15, 14 v 13, and so on up to 1 v 2). Hope this helps.

Lots of great action. Nice card. Thanks PM. The dice were weird again today. A lot of quick matches even with some of the rules changes I implemented. I may have to do something else, but to tell would give away my upcoming plans, so stay tuned.

No, I wouldn't have you tell me your plans. The dice is always tricky and that's how it is. Many times I thought that a certain character would come out ahead only for the results to backfire on him instead. Yes, the dice can sometimes screw up things. Especially when you're not expecting it.
