WWA #36
Grand Olympic Auditorium; Los Angeles
....Don Leo Jonathan gets his 2nd shot at the Americas' Championship as his first was a DQ loss three months ago after Destroyer attacked the champion....That match brought about Destroyer's heel turn which only intensified after losing to Don Leo last week....Destroyer has promised to be at ringside for the Main Event; however, WWA officials have let word out that if Destroyer interferes in the match itself, there will be consequences....Let's get to the action....---Our opener saw poor
Jake Milliman get absolutely brutalized by
The Sheik. Sheik jabbed and stabbed poor Jake with his trusty sharpened fork as a bandaged
Abdullah Farouk provided the distraction. The end came mercifully after Sheik applied the CAMEL CLUTCH. Farouk stopped Sheik from continuing the assault and promised Sheik would hurt
Bobo Brazil severely in two weeks.
---
Jim Londos went toe-to-toe with
Sweet Brown Sugar, getting the win with a Grinding Arm Bar. Londos worked on SBS' arm the whole match to set up the finish as
Gorgeous George looked on.
---Challenges were thrown out at the Mid-Week Recap Show which led to
Blackjack Mulligan/Ox Baker vs
Pepper Gomez/Antonio Rocca. The technicos won the long, grueling match-up after Rocca landed a Series of Flying Dropkicks and Flying Headscissors on Ox. However, Ox would get the final laugh as he dropped Rocca with the HEART PUNCH as the technicos were getting their hands raised in victory.
---A heated feud is brewing between
Pampero Firpo and
John Tolos after a couple of weeks of bickering between the two and a physical confrontation at last week's Mid-Week Recap Show. The two squared off here and went right after each other. Tolos was intent on hurting Firpo as John taped his thumb before delivering several Thumbs to the Throat of Pampero. This wore Firpo down as he had issues breathing afterward. Tolos climbed the buckles for the FLYING KNEEDROP before taking Firpo down with what appeared to be a headlock but Tolos could be seen digging at Firpo's throat. Firpo eventually submitted giving the win to John Tolos; however, afterwards, Firpo glared at Tolos as this is not over between the two.
---Last week,
The Hennigs went to a NO CONTEST with
Mr Fuji/Mr Saito after the Hennigs called the Japanese rudos out. Fuji/Saito isolated Curt Hennig in their corner for long periods of the match. The younger Hennig was able to make the hot tag to his father and Larry dominated Fuji/Saito for a while. However, Curt wasn't able to offer any assistance from his earlier beatings and Larry started to fade. The finish saw Fuji throw salt in Larry's eyes before Saito delivered a brutal SAITO SUPLEX for the finish.
---We get full introductions for our
Main Event as both
Mil Mascaras and
Don Leo Jonathan are wildly popular with the crowd. A big deal is made that this is Mascaras' 12th defense of the
Americas' Championship. Both men shakes hands and we are underway. Both are cautious of making an early mistake leading to the first 5-minutes being a feeling out process. Finally, the action gets going as DLJ is able to capitalize from a missed turnbuckle charge to get control. Several Giant Swings by Don Leo gets nearfalls as the champion appears to be in a bad way. DLJ keeps fighting to get the champ in position for the MORMON SWING but Mil is able to block the move. Don Leo hits an Atomic Drop and a Rolling Back Splash for another nearfall.
Destroyer decides this would be an appropriate time to make his entrance. The champion takes advantage of the distraction and goes on a short-lived offensive. However, DJ is soon back in control but keeps looking over his shoulder for the blindside he knows is coming from Destroyer. Finally, DLJ gets Mil up for the MORMON SWING and appears to have won the match but Mil's foot was draped under the bottom rope and the match continues. Destroyer starts taunting Don Leo causing DLJ to leave the ring and go nose-to-nose with Destroyer.
This gives Mascaras the opening he needs as he drops a SLingshot Plancha on both men. Having seized the advantage, Mil rolls his challenger back in the ring and lands the FLYING BODYPRESS from the top turnbuckle to get the win (Snake Eyes) and retain the championship.
Afterwards, the two technicos shook hands before being blindsided by Destroyer. Destroyer motioned to the back as
Blackjack Mulligan and
Ox Baker joined the fray and both Mil and DLJ are on the receiving end of Baker HEART PUNCHES. A second masked man entered the fray on the side of the rudos as
Masked Superstar has joined the WWA roster.
Finally, after several tense minutes of a near riotous crowd, security was able to pull stop the melee as
Pepper Gomez and
Antonio Rocca also joined the fray. Mascaras and Don Leo had to be helped to the back afterwards as Gomez and Rocca promised retribution on the rudos.
