Powers, while being on the defensive for most of the match, frustrated Ventura by escaping his signature holds time after time. Ventura eventually resorted to his cheating ways and hit Powers outside the ring with a foreign object before rolling him into the ring and winning the match with the Body Breaker.
Powers of Pain defeat Nord the Barbarian via Powerslam/Headbutt at 7:56. Nord was out for revenge after being sidelined by the Barbarian. Nord controlled the early going of the match using his wild ways to keep the Warlord away from his partner. Nord nearly had the match won when he went for his steel chair and tried to hit the Warlord. The Barbarian caught it and they went to town double teaming Nord. They then applied their trademark Powerslam/Headbutt combination for the win. After the match they continued to attack Nord looking to injure him again. This time, Nord was saved by... Ken Patera!! The crowd roared in approval as Patera chased the Powers of Pain away.
Colonel Debeers defeats Curt Hennig via Facefirst Piledriver at 16:57. So far it seems as if everyone has brought their A game to Supercard! In an incredible, and arguably, the best match of the night, Hennig and Debeers gave the fans incredible action and left them salivating for more! It went back and forth. The crowd booed numerous times when Debeers would use his dirty tactics to gain the upper hand, including 4 low blows in a row. Towards the end, Hennig was on fire and looked as though he was on the verge of victory when he ran face first into Debeers combat boot and Debeers hit the Facefirst Piledriver for the win.
Iron Sheik defeats Jimmy Snuka via Camel Clutch at 9:10. Snuka and Iron Sheik, two recent AWA signings, went at it like rabid dogs. These two do not like each other. Snuka nearly scored an early pin fall but Iron Sheik got his foot on the ropes. The two battled hard until the Iron Sheik got out the loaded boot. The fans knew it was out and were yelling to the referee to take notice but he did not. The Iron Sheik kicked Snuka four times in a row with the loaded boot, busting him open, before ending it with the Camel Clutch. Iron Sheik ran to the back as the angry crowd chanted “U…S…A” and threw garbage at him.
The High Flyers defeat the Koloffs via disqualification at 4:22. In the first and only real disappointment of Supercard #1, The High Flyers and Koloffs started the match with neither side gaining an advantage. When the High Flyers would get on the offense, the Koloffs made quick tags. When the Koloffs got the offense, the same happened. This lead to frustration as Ivan Koloff and Gagne went outside the ring. They started brawling as Nikita and Brunzell got into it as well. The ref called for the bell when Ivan took the Russian Chain and hit Gagne with it. It took numerous officials to break up the teams in the aftermath. The crowd cheered as Gagne and Brunzell raised their arms in celebration afterwards.
Hercules defeats Sgt. Slaughter via powerslam at 12:51. It was the match that everyone wanted to see. There was tremendous expectation going into this match and it delivered. Slaughter exploded from the get go. He hit Hercules with his full arsenal but was unable to pin the mighty Hercules. Hercules slowly gained the edge and went to work hitting Slaughter with his powerful arsenal but he was unable to get the pin either. Slaughter was hitting Hercules with a series of running clotheslines when Hercules caught him off the ropes and delivered a powerslam. As the referee counted, Hercules put his feet on the ropes for added leverage and got the win. The arena erupted in a loud chorus of boos as the fans felt the referee once again dropped the ball. Slaughter was furious and chased Hercules into the back.
The Valiants defeat The Briscos via Top Rope Elbow at 11:39. The Briscos first title defense did not go as they had hoped. Despite the fans cheering them on, the Briscos were unable to take any type of control during the match and were dominated by the Valiants. The Valiants cut the ring in half and focused on Jerry Brisco first, wearing him down. Jerry was able to tag out and Jack came in but the Valiants were able to regain control and wore him down. Despite Jerry coming in to attempt a pin save, he was fought off by Johnny Valiant as Jimmy pinned Jack after hitting their finishing maneuver. The Valiants are the new AWA Tag Team Champions!
Kerry Von Erich/The Crusher defeat Jerry Lawler/One Man Gang via Crusher Bolo at 7:14. This was Kerry Von Erich’s chance to gain a title shot at Jerry Lawler. Verne Gagne allowed Von Erich to choose his own partner to take on Lawler and One Man Gang. Von Erich arrived alone at first and it built up with anticipation.
