Card #17 Kerry Von Erich vs. Iron Sheik Hercules vs. The Crusher The Koloffs vs. The Briscos The Hot Seat Yellow Dog vs. Nick Bockwinkel
Results:
Nick Bockwinkel defeats Yellow Dog via Bockwinkel Sleeper at 2:12. In a very impressive debut, Nick Bockwinkel accompanied by his manager Bobby Heenan put on a display of athleticism and technical skills. Yellow Dog was unable to muster any sort of offense and looked completely out of his league. Bobby Heenan grabbed a microphone after the match and said that they audience was looking at the soon-to-be AWA champion.
On a brand new segment called “The Hot Seat”, Bill Apter addressed the audience and said that he would be conducting interviews, will be the first to host Verne Gagne when he has any special announcements and will also introduce AWA Top Ten Rankings! The audience cheered. All of a sudden, Jesse Ventura hit the ring to a chorus of boos. He told Apter not to waste his time with the rankings because everyone knew that Ventura was the number one wrestler in the AWA. He told the audience to shut up and that they were poor excuses for Americans. Suddenly, Sgt Slaughter hit the ring! He got right in Ventura’s face and told him to shut up his mouth. Officials at that point separated the two wrestlers.
The Koloffs defeat The Briscos via Russian Sickle at 7:41. Things are not going right for the former AWA Tag Team champions. They lost a match to the Powers of Pain at Card #16, are no longer considered the #1 contenders for the titles and they had to face The Koloffs who have been red hot (no pun intended). The action went back and forth at first but the Koloffs gained the upper hand when Ivan hit Jerry Brisco with his chain. Jack came in to protest and Ivan kept him and the referee busy while Nikita hit Jerry with three Russian Sickles. When the dust settled Ivan pinned Jerry for the win.
Hercules defeats The Crusher via Backbreaker Rack at 12:01. In a great slugfest, the mighty Hercules and the brawling Crusher went toe to toe. It was back and forth action, with neither man really gaining any ground. That all changed when it went outside the ring. This area usually benefits the Crusher but unbeknown to him, Jesse Ventura had snuck down to the ringside area. When the referee was dealing with Hercules, Jesse hit the Crusher with a steel chair. The crowd was yelling at the referee to turn around but it was too late. Hercules threw him in the ring and hit the Backbreaker Rack for the win.
Kerry Von Erich defeats Iron Sheik via Discus Punch at 9:31. This was a huge match for Kerry Von Erich. He is finally acknowledged as the number one contender for the AWA championship. A loss to the Iron Sheik would cast doubt on the validity of his contention status. He seemed to know this and hit the match firing on all cylinders. Iron Sheik controlled the early portion of the match, even attempting to lock the Camel Clutch on. Sheik wasn’t sitting on Von Erich’s lower back and Von Erich powered out of it. Von Erich then took control. He locked on the Claw at one point but Sheik escaped by getting to the ropes. It was only a matter of time before Von Erich hit the Discus Punch and went for the pin. The crowd expected outside interference but there wasn’t any. Von Erich pinned Iron Sheik.

Card #18 Hercules/Jesse Ventura vs. Sgt Slaughter/Ken Patera Blade Runner Flash vs. Ivan Koloff One Man Gang vs. Jim Powers The Hot Seat presents Kerry Von Erich Nick Bockwinkel vs. Greg Gagne
Results:
Nick Bockwinkel defeats Greg Gagne via Bockwinkel Sleeper at 3:00. Bockwinkel once again had a short but sweet match. Greg Gagne was looking for a win heading towards Supercard #2 but it wasn’t in the chips. Bockwinkel was all over him. Like Yellow Dog on the previous card, Gagne looked out of his league. Bockwinkel seemed to toy with him and put him away with the Bockwinkel Sleeper. Bockwinkel and Heenan laughed on their way to the back.
Kerry Von Erich was the first guest on The Hot Seat. The interview was cut short however when Jerry Lawler hit the ring. He was furious with Apter for not having the AWA champion as his first guest. Apter explained the Lawler would get his time. Lawler then asked Von Erich what he was looking at and slapped him. Von Erich retaliated with the Claw! Security and officials separated them.
Jim Powers defeats One Man Gang via Falling Cross Body at 5:54. In a huge upset, One Man Gang was left infuriated. He dominated the entire match. He took his time setting Powers up for his finisher and when he attempted the 747 Splash, Powers moved! He climbed to the top rope and executed a perfect falling cross body. The referee counted to three and Powers won the match!
Blade Runner Flash vs. Ivan Koloff – double disqualification. Blade Runner Flash looked good in this match. He was facing a dangerous veteran and did quite well for himself. He controlled the match so much that Koloff went for his chain. But Flash ducked underneath it and clocked Koloff. When Flash was going for his finisher Nikita hit the ring, followed by Blade Runner Rock. A brawl ensued and the referee called for the bell.
Hercules/Jesse Ventura defeat Sgt Slaughter/Ken Patera via Backbreaker Rack at 13:49. In an amazing back and forth match these four wrestlers gave the fans something to talk about. There were many near falls and devastating moves. The incredible thing was that these wrestlers were meeting again in singles matches at Supercard #2. The end came as Ventura and Hercules wore down Slaughter. Hercules hit the Backbreaker Rack and Ventura prevented Patera from making the pin save.

Card #19 One Man Gang vs. Nord the Barbarian The Crusher vs. Buddy Rose Colonel Debeers vs. Jimmy Snuka The Hot Seat presents: The Blade Runners Nick Bockwinkel vs. Jim Brunzell
Results:
Nick Bockwinkel defeats Jim Brunzell via Bockwinkel Sleeper at 2:31. Bockwinkel appears to be making a statement early in his AWA career. For the third card in a row, Bockwinkel easily put his opponent away. Like the two cards before, Brunzell looked outmatched. Bobby Heenan said into the microphone after the match that it’s a no brainer of who the best wrestler in the AWA is.
On The Hot Seat, Bill Apter interviewed the number one contenders for the AWA Tag Team championship, the Blade Runners. The fans roared loudly as they entered the ring. Apter brought up how they weren’t that good before but have gotten better. Rock said its through hard work and training that they’re getting better. Flash added that thing are only going to get better for the Blade Runners and that the Valiants reign as tag team champions will end at Supercard #2.
Jimmy Snuka defeats Colonel Debeers via Superfly Leap at 5:09. Jimmy Snuka was all fired up in this match up and heads into Supercard #2 on a winning note. He used his combination of speed and power to overcome the dirty Debeers. After a devastating piledriver, Snuka went up top and hit the Superfly Leap for the win.
The Crusher defeats Buddy Rose via Crusher Bolo Punch at 9:01. In a surprisingly good match, Crusher and Rose went toe to toe. Rose controlled the early going of the match and even hit his Bombs Away but Crusher powered out of the pin. The fans started to get behind Crusher and his rally began. He came back and hit Rose with everything he had. He nailed Rose with the Bolo Punch and pinned him.
Nord the Barbarian defeats One Man Gang via Running Leg Drop at 6:56. Things are just not going right for One Man Gang. At the last card he was upset by Jim Powers and then he faced a hot Nord the Barbarian. Nord came at One Man Gang with full force. One Man Gang was not used to fighting someone of the same height or strength. Nord knocked him down with a big boot to the face and then hit the Running Leg Drop for the win.

SUPERCARD #2 Main Event – AWA World Heavyweight Championship Match Jerry Lawler (c) vs. Kerry Von Erich AWA United States Championship Match Ken Patera (c) vs. Hercules AWA Tag Team Championship Match The Valiants (c) vs. The Blade Runners Sgt. Slaughter vs. Jesse Ventura The Koloffs vs. The Briscos Nick Bockwinkel vs. Curt Hennig Nord The Barbarian vs. Iron Sheik Jimmy Snuka vs. One Man Gang
Results:
Jimmy Snuka defeats One Man Gang via Superfly Leap at 6:02. In the opening match of Supercard #2, Snuka looked to continue his winning ways while One Man Gang was looking to change his fortunes. This match was Snuka all the way, much to the fans delight. He bombarded One Man Gang with his wide array of maneuvers, and kept him off balance with his high flying/high impact moves. Snuka finally put an end to it by hitting the Superfly Leap.
Nord the Barbarian defeats Iron Sheik via Running Leg Drop at 10:20. Nord seems to have found his way. In a recent string of wins, he was red hot heading into Supercard #2. And he picked up right where he left off. He simply overpowered Iron Sheik, who had scored some near pin falls of his own. This was simply Nord’s match. It was a big win for him and moves him closer to possible title contention.
Nick Bockwinkel defeats Curt Hennig via Bockwinkle Sleeper at 5:01. Nick Bockwinkel appears to be the real deal. He had some impressive wins but they weren’t big names. Curt Hennig would prove to be his biggest match. In a rather disappointing match, Bockwinkel manhandled Hennig, almost as if he was playing with him. Hennig was unable to mount any kind of sustainable offense. Bockwinkel hit him with a piledriver then secured the win with the Bockwinkel Sleeper.
The Koloffs defeat The Briscos via Russian Sickle at 8:54. The Briscos have yet to find their footing since losing the AWA Tag Titles to the Valiants. They were facing the Koloffs and it seems the Briscos have lost all confidence in themselves. Ivan and Nikita simply battered the two brothers around for what seemed to fans was eternity. Nikita finally ended the beating with the Russian Sickle. The future looks bright for the Koloffs as they continue to rise in the AWA Tag Team division while the Briscos continue to fade.
Jesse Ventura defeats Sgt Slaughter via disqualification at 7:33. Slaughter attacked Ventura right after the bell and it was on. They trade blows, slams and suplexes. Ventura taunted the crowd who booed and cheered Slaughter when he addressed them. The match led outside the ring where Slaughter grabbed a chair and nailed Ventura. The referee immediately called for the bell which caused a loud chorus of boos. Ventura, clutching his head, flexed his other arm as he walked to the back.
The Blade Runners defeat The Valiants via Bearhug/Vicious Blow at 12:41. In an incredible tag team match up, both teams fought like their lives were on the line. The Valiants stuck to their technical moves while the Blade Runners used their high impact powerful moves. Their were near falls on both sides. The Valiants used many double team moves but could not capitalize on it. This allowed the Blade Runners to regain the advantage and they never looked back. They hit Johnny Valiant with three consecutive Bearhug/Vicous Blows. Flash pinned Johnny and the Blade Runners become the new AWA Tag Team champions! They were unable to celebrate, however, as the Koloffs stormed the ring and viciously attacked the Blade Runners. The Koloffs issued a challenge and if the Blade Runners weren’t as gutless as the United States then they would accept. The crowd booed heavily. It was almost deafening.
Hercules defeats Ken Patera via powerslam at 16:20. It was a slugfest pitting to juggernauts against each other with the United States championship on the line. Something had to give! For the longest while, nothing did. Hercules and Patera traded moves. Hercules then dominated Patera and pounded him into the ground but Patera showed no signs of quitting. Patera mounted a comeback and nearly pinned Hercules but Hercules just got the shoulder up in time. Patera went up to the top rope but missed an elbow drop as Hercules rolled out of the way. Hercules then threw Patera off the ropes and hit a powerslam. Hercules put his feet on the ropes for added pressure and the ref didn’t see it as he counted to three. Hercules is the new AWA United States champion!
Jerry Lawler defeats Kerry Von Erich via Piledriver at 19:46. It was the match everyone was waiting for. Kerry Von Erich was finally getting his title shot at Jerry Lawler. Two titles had already changed hands. The fans could feel it in the air. They wanted and expected Von Erich to win the AWA World Heavyweight championship. And they were almost rewarded. In the early going, Von Erich hit Lawler with a falling cross body and the referee’s hand hit the mat three times. The crowd erupted and Von Erich stood up to celebrate but Lawler had gotten his shoulder up at the very last second. The fans booed as the referee explained this to Von Erich. Von Erich showed frustration and attacked Lawler. The match continued and was everything a world title match should be. Lots of near falls, the fans were kept on the edge of their seat and the outcome was anyone’s guess. Von Erich threw Lawler in the turnbuckle and charged but Lawler hit him with an elbow in the face knocking him down. Lawler pounced, picked Von Erich up and hit his patented Piledriver. You could hear the fans’ hearts break as the referee’s hand hit the mat the third time and Von Erich’s shoulder did not move. Jerry Lawler retains AWA World Heavyweight championship.
