Welcome to SummerSlam!!! Tonight's card is filled to the brim with the best wrestlers in the world today. There are six championship matches here tonight and what will be a historic Loser Leaves North America match between Harley Race and Buddy Rogers.
NWA WORLD JR. HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Delirious (ch) def. Iron Mike DiBiase

Delirious, the two-time World Jr. champion and also the current Mexican Light-heavyweight champion, returns to the NAWA for his first title defense. He won the belt last month in Puerto Rico at Clash of the Champions V when he defeated Brad Armstrong. Both competitors have been spending their time in Mexico of late.
This was a fast and furious contest with both men looking good and seemingly on the way to victory. Larry Sweeney did not make his presence known at ringside in favor of the champion and Delirious dropped DiBiase with the Praying Mantis Bomb and then the Bizzaro Driver for the pin.
Mildred Burke def. Joyce Grable

The debut of Mildred Burke and she made it one to remember. Grable tried to jump start the match but immediately paid for it. Burke fired her into the corner then swiftly applied the Alligator Clutch and this match was all over in a matter of seconds. The ladies of the IWWF had better watch out!
Bobby Eaton def. Kevin Steen

The fued between Jim Cornette's Midnight Express and the Canadian Maggia managed by Jimmy Hart rolls on. Both men had some time in charge but Eaton started to take over. It was Cornette who interferred first and the two went to the floor. Eaton landed the Alababam Jam for the three count. A tough loss for the Canadian contingent here tonight on their home turf.
Rob Van Dam def. Jimmy Snuka

One of the big matches signed for SummerSlam right here with both men coming back from Japan where they had been in the JWA tag team tournament with respective partners Sabu and Bruiser Brody. These two went all out in a great match. The Superfly had things going his way most of the time but never got to hit the Superfly Leap. Van Dam got his offense going but Snuka kicked out after the Five Star Frog Splash. Then the Rolling Thunder scored the pin for RVD (Snuka 4 coins).
TEXAS DEATH MATCH
Bill Dundee def. Eddie Gilbert

One of the most brutal matches in recent memory. Gilbert immediately went to work and piledrover Dundee three times in a row without going for a cover. That backfired on Hot Stuff when the referee was knocked out and then Gilbert dropped Dundee with the Hot Shot. Dundee had been on the shelf with an injury caused by Gilbert and he let all the hate out on Hot Stuff. These two could barely stand but kept going at it. Dundee took the win with the Superstar Bomb (Dundee 3 coins, Gilbert 5 coins).
NWA WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP
Ed "Strangler" Lewis (ch) def. Bob Orton Sr.

The champ quickly outwrestled the challenger in this one. Orton could not get Lewis away from him. After working over various moves on the mat the dreaded side headlock put an end to Orton.
NORTH AMERICAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Don Muraco & Bob Roop (ch) def. The Killer Bees

A big grudge match as B. Brian Blair returned from injury at the hands of Ted DiBiase's henchmen. Jim Brunzell got things going fast with a huge dropkick on Muraco. Blair was stopped short though and worked over, but tagged Brunzell following a Shoulder Breaker by Roop. Brunzell tried to carry the offense but couldn't do it and Muraco put him away with the Hawaiian Hammer.
NORTH AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
The Mountie (ch) def. Dallas Page

It was very strange to hear cheers for the Mountie, but he had the home country advantage in this one. DDP gave it his all and very nearly regained the title. Jimmy Hart helped his man avoid being pinned and the Mountie leveled Page with the megaphone. Page kept hanging on though until finally the Mountie finished him off with the Shock Stick (Page 4 coins, Mountie 3 coins).
FATAL FOURWAY ELIMINATION MATCH
Fred Blassie def. Lou Thesz, Rick Rude and George Hackenschmidt

An incredible start to the match. The bell rings and Blassie takes on Rude. Thesz drops Hackenschmidt with a side salto suplex and scores a three-count for the first elimination.
Rick Rude fought back against Blassie and then took the fight to both of his opponents. He managed to fight off both men and stay in control until they all went to the outside. Thesz then used the Greco Roman Backdrop twice on Rude to get the pin.
Thesz outwrestles Blassie but had a hard time handling the dirty tactics of the Classy one. The two kept going back and forth and on the floor. Blassie took over and a Southern Neckbreaker sent Thesz down for the three count.
LOSER LEAVES NORTH AMERICA
Harley Race def. Buddy Rogers

An incredible rivalry that has lasted for so long ends tonight. These two went to war with each, then teamed up to become North American tag team champions, then resumed their hostilities.
These two former World champions tore the house down one more time. An amazing match that neither could maintain the upperhand for very long. Several very close falls as Rogers favored using Race's own move the piledriver against him. Just another classic between these two that ended with Race forcing a submission with the Indian Deathlock (Rogers 3 coins, Race 2 coins).
NWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
The Tolos Brothers def. The Midnight Express (ch)

Pandemonium reigned in Canada when the Tolos Brothers took the World tag team titles! This was another great match between Jim Cornette and Jimmy Hart's men. The teams went back and forth with Dennis Condrey and Stan Lane really controlling the action. Jimmy Hart saved the match with a distraction after the Rocket Launcher and the megaphone was used to turn the tide. The Express still came back to get the upper hand but John Tolos scored the fall on Lane with a handful of tights as well as using the ropes bring the belts to the Canadian Maggia. The Midnight Express won the belts in Toronto at the Cauliflower Cup on May 28 and lost them back in Canada here tonight.
NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Challenger Ted DiBiase made his way to the ring with quite a smirk on his face along with some paperwork. The Million Dollar Man got on the mic and informed the crowd that there would be no world title match here this evening. World champion Andre the Giant then joined him in the ring. DiBiase let everyone know that he is the new manager of Andre the Giant!
The giant laughed. DiBiase laughed. The crowd booed. The new partners were soon joined in the ring by representatives of the NWA Board of Directors and the Championship committee as the building buzzed about what was going on and why there was no world title match.
Soon an announcement was made. DiBiase's dictate of no title match wouldn't fly here tonight. His paperwork would be checked out as far as his being manager of Andre the Giant. The World champion would defend the title here at SummerSlam even if it wouldn't be against DiBiase.
They announced that this would be a Three-Way Dance for the NWA World heavyweight championship with Elimination rules. Andre would be defending the title against Harley Race and Freddie Blassie!!! The Million $ Man would also be barred from ringside pending confirmation of his being manager of Andre the Giant.
Three-Way Dance
NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Freddie Blassie def. Andre the Giant (ch) and Harley Race

An incredible battle between these three men for a very long time in the first fall. All out nonstop action in and out of the ring. There were no allies it was every man for himself. Andre did the damage to all but take Blassie out of the match and then the Big Splash crushed Race for the three count.
Blassie seemingly had no chance now one on one with the Giant. Andre dominated but Blassie did what he does best and that's fight dirty and do whatever it takes on the outside. Somehow he got the Giant back in the ring and the Southern Neckbreaker scored the three count to give Fred Blassie the NWA World title!!! (Blassie 6 coins)
