BEST 2/3 FALLS
MWE TRIOS CHAMPIONSHIP
The Wild Samoans def. Mike DiBiase, Les Thatcher & Dewey Robertson (ch), 2-1
Fans were certainly treated to having the Mexican Trios champions here tonight! The first fall had plenty of great action and the title holders were on top most of the way. Afa Jr. was finally isolated and all three champs went to work. Dewey Robertson forced the submission with the figure four after Les Thatcher had used the stump puller.
The second fall was more of the champs on the attack. DiBiase dove off the top rope to the arena floor, downing all three Samoans. Alofa was saved from defeat after the figure four from Robertson. The Samoans hung on and Afa Jr. pinned Robertson with Lights Out to force a third fall.
In the third fall the Samoans gained some momentum. Samu landed a diving headbutt on DiBiase. Afa Jr. battled it out with all three opponents. Alofa came in and put the Samoan Drop on Robertson to win the match and the Wild Samoans are the new MWE Trios champions!
Doug Gilbert def. Brad Armstrong
A great match as a feud has started brewing between the Armstrongs, Doug Gilbert, Bill Dundee and PG-13. Armstrong had his chances early, hitting the Russian Leg Sweep. Gilbert came back and dished out a lot of hurting. Armstrong showed his toughness and had a last gasp at winning. Armstrong crashed into the corner and Gilbert grabbed the fall. (Armstrong 4 coins)
Bill Dundee def. Bob Armstrong
Another great match and you could see the rivalry heating up. Armstrong got his sleeper on early but then it was back and forth. Dundee fought on the floor a lot and there were plenty of blocks and reversals. Dundee's Indian Deathlock and then the Boston Crab brought him the victory. In a strange twist of role reversal, Brad Armstrong came back out to the ring and helped his dad beat up Dundee.
NWA WORLD JR. CHAMPIONSHIP
Delirious (ch) def. Shane Strickland
The World Jr. champion has held the title since July 30. Early on it was Delirious going all out and killing Strickland with the Bizarro Driver. Strickland made a comeback and did all he could to the champ, scoring a pair of near falls. Delirious ended this one after Shadows over Hell.
IRON MAN / IRON TEAM TOURNAMENT
Andre the Giant def. The Patriot
The Boss completely dominated this match, but the Patriot has heart and he fought to the end. Patriot barely generated any offense and Andre just handed out a beat down before collecting the pin. (Patriot 4 coins)
The Midnight Express def. The Gilberts
A real fast match as the Midnight Express landed a Flapjack on Tommy Gilbert for the three count. Eaton and Lane barely started to celebrate when they were jumped by Randy Rose and Dennis Condrey.
Randy Savage def. Roddy Piper by C.O.
Two hated rule breakers completely tore into each other. It was a knock down drag out fight. Macho Man liked to go outside and a flying axe handle gave him a victory by count out.
The Grappler & Dutch Savage def. The Vachons
This was a pretty good back and forth match. Savage stabbed Mad Dog in the throat and the Grappler hit an elbow for the win.
Mil Mascaras def. Dallas Page
The Mexican legend finally picks up his first win of the tournament. It was all Mascaras but Page showed why he's held many titles over the years. DDP wouldn't go down without a fight but eventually he did after a flying bodypress. (Page 5 coins).
2 Cold Scorpio & Marcus Alexander Bagwell def. PG-13
More good tag action here between two excellent teams. Bagwell and Scorpio soon asserted themselves. Great double team moves helped Bagwell finish off Wolfie D. PG-13 was helped out though afterwards by not only the Gilberts but also Bill Dundee as they assaulted Scorpio and Bagwell until the Armstrongs ran in.
Lou Thesz def. Terry Gordy
This match turned into one to remember. Thesz clearly had the upperhand but Gordy fought and got his shots in, many of which really hurt. Gordy fended off the attack to come close to the upset with a piledriver and the oriental spike. Thesz came through though with his Thesz Press for the win. (Gordy 4 coins, Thesz 4 coins).
New Midnight Express def. Killer Bees by C.O.
Two classic tag team specialists squared off here. It was a good one but Rose and Condrey got the upperhand after interferring following the killer dropkick of Brunzell. The fight went to the floor and Brunzell was counted out. Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane stormed to the ring and went at again with Rose and Condrey.
NWA WORLD TV TITLE
NORTH AMERICAN TITLE
Rick Rude (ch) def. The Sheik by D.Q.
Another interesting contest between rule breakers. It was all Rude for a long time but he couldn't get the Sheik down. Rude had to fight to hold on to his titles and he was able to do just that. The Sheik threw a fire ball in the face of Rude and was disqualified.
NORTH AMERICAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Sheepherders (ch) def. Southern Boys
This was a classic tag team title match. The former champions, the Southern Boys, destroyed the Sheepherders. Luke and Butch wouldn't give up or stop fighting. Rich and Smothers did everything they could to win this match. The Sheepherders held on and a running knee smash caught Smothers for the three count. (Sheepherders 7 coins).
