But everyone can clearly see its Prince Albert . Why the re-vamp ? New name etc ? They explained that on the broadcast. He went to Japan and dominated the competition. He adopted the new look and name to go along with his accomplishments. Plus, there are TONS of fans who weren't watching when he was Albert/Prince Albert/A-Train. 1-2-3 Kid became Xpac because he was a different guy at that point in his career. It happens all the time.

I don't see the great improvements he supposedly made in Japan. He looks pretty slow and even awkward at times. I HATE the stopping the match crap they are pulling with him. Is it that hard to just pin or submit the guy? We have matches every PPV where wrestlers take more damage than Lord Tensai's opponents and those matches are never stopped. I also hate the logic. The ref should make him try to win the match or DQ him. It doesn't make him look tough having the match stopped vs, jobbers anyways. Dumb!

We've seen so many guys like this through the years, it won't tell me anything until he's in a real competitive match.

I think Payback is right that most people watching would not remember him so they wouldn't make the comparison that you are, Swarm. And for those of us that do remember him from a couple years ago, he just hits harder now. I think it is supposed to be reminiscent of MMA matches where the ref steps in to stop the bout.

I hate that they stop his matches, too. It's wrestling. Just pin the guy after that move.

I just don't see the gimmick going anywhere. I mean I just cannot hear in my head "World Heavyweight Champion Lord Tensai" or "WWE Champion Lord Tensai." Heck it's a stretch to hear "Intercontinental Champion Lord Tensai." I can understand Albert going to Japan and coming back marginally better, but really the name change adds nothing. If anything it takes away from the character, IMO. As far as the "Albert" chants go, I can just see him or the WWE handwaiving those away with a quick "That was who I was, THIS is who I am!" I mean WWE.com even REPORTED that he was once Albert/A-Train. I'm sure they will stop the ref-stoppage squash matches once he gets in the ring against someone who isn't featured on Superstars every week. And if my memory serves...wasn't most of his success in Japan in TAG TEAM WRESTLING?!

Not impressed. I gave him a shot because everything I heard sounded interesting, but he looked like Kwang walking out. And how does he knock someone out when his attacks look like they're barely touching him?
I'd prefer for them to bring in the Kings of Wrestling or whatever they're called now instead of wasting $ on Albert.

He had title shots for the top All Japan and New Japan titles. That is about what I would expect out of his current run with WWE too. He will be a monster heel for Cena, Punk or someone else like that. Albert & A-Train were always stupid names anyway.

First I am glad he had a chance to come back, good for him. Second I agree with the match stoppage idea, ugh. Third he does seem to be moving a bit slow/awkward in the ring Last, and with a laugh, where's his card?

This is hilarious to me. Brodus Clay was allegedly made the funkasaurus because he leaked his raw debut date on twitter, so they pushed it back and tried to punish him with a bad gimmick. Sadly it got over, Matt Bloom(Albert/A-Train/Giant Benard) is a guy they actually like and want to push so they came up with yet another spin on his gimmick to make him happy and it fell flat . I honestly think if they waited a little longer to debut him it may have worked better. WWE has a history of having a lot of "smarks" in the crowd the first week after mania instead of their usual audience. As for his awkward movement, lets not forget he is 40 and has spent that last few years in New Japan working a much stiffer style. He seems to be trying to force himself to tone back to a WWE style and I think that's why he's moving that way.
