(Matches to be aired on Tuesday, 12/9/08, along with highlights from tonight‘s World Class Championship Wrestling)
COUSIN LUKE (low) beat SANDMAN (low) (w/ “Sir” Oliver Humperdink) (low) by disqualification when Sandman used the Singapore Cane finisher on him; Humperdink had the referee turned around, but the ref saw what happened. This time, Luke grabbed the cane away from Sandman and started swinging; after Sandman bailed out, Luke looked at the cane and started waving it as if it were a fishing rod, cranking an imaginary reel bringing in a big catch (Referee: Bronko Lubich)
TERRY “BAMM BAMM” GORDY of the FABULOUS FREEBIRDS (low-b) (w/ Michael “P.S.” Hayes & Buddy “Jack” Roberts) (low-b) beat ROBERT GIBSON of the ROCK ’N’ ROLL EXPRESS (low-b) (w/ Ricky Morton & Kerry Von Erich) (low-b) with a Sunset Flip as Orton & Von Erich fought outside the ring with Hayes & Roberts (Referee: Dave Hebner)
LWF PRIME TIME WRESTLING MAIN EVENT DOMENIC DeNUCCI (low-b) & BRUNO SAMMARTINO (low-b) beat EL GRAN GOLIATH & BLACK GORDMAN (low-b) when Sammartino beat Gordman with a Cross-Body Block (Referee: Nick Patrick) --DeNucci’s niece, Trudi, welcomed her uncle from the front row once again. This was regarded as an upset win, since Goliath & Gordman are set to challenge the Road Warriors for the LWF World Tag Team Titles Sunday night at LWF Christmas Eve Of Destruction ‘08.
ABC & The LWF Present WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING on ABC-TV (8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central Mondays, hosted by Gordon Solie & Jim Ross (hours 1 & 3), Mike Tenay & Larry Matysik (hour 2), Bill Apter, “Mean Gene” Okerlund & Gary Michael Cappetta)
MAURICE “MAD DOG” VACHON (low) beat “UNPREDICTABLE” JOHNNY RODZ (low) with the Piledriver finisher (Referee: James Beard) --This was Rodz’ debut and Vachon’s return, and Vachon wasted no time in reestablishing himself in the LWF.
TULLY BLANCHARD (low-b) beat S.D. “SPECIAL DELIVERY” JONES (low) by countout (Referee: Mark Curtis)
Gene Okerlund brought out LWF General Manager Bill Watts, who said that, late last week, The Sheik was given a six-week suspension for his actions in last week’s match, in which he burned Terry Funk badly with a fireball. Watts said, “I understand that Terry Funk wants to get his hands on The Sheik. Well, the suspension will stand. However, with the blessing of the Board of Directors, I WILL give Terry his opportunity this Sunday night, at Christmas Eve Of Destruction. I will lift Sheik’s suspension for one night for a match with Terry Funk, and it will be Falls Count Anywhere, and no holds, no weapons, nothing is off limits. Terry has agreed to this, and Abdullah Farouk has agreed to this on behalf of The Sheik. Whatever happens in this match, the LWF cannot be held liable to either man”
“DOGFACED GREMLIN” RICK & SCOTT STEINER (low-b) beat “INTELLIGENT SENSATIONAL” DESTROYER (low) & BRET “HITMAN” HART (low-b) when Rick beat Hart with the Steiner Dog finisher (Referee: Johnny “Red Shoes“ Dugan) --Hart’s hurt knee came into play here, as the Steiners focused on it whenever he was in the ring.
“HACKSAW” JIM DUGGAN (low) (w/ Nikita Breznikov) (low) beat “SOUL TRAIN” MIKE JONES (low) with the Flying Spear finisher (Referee: Earl Hebner) --Once again, Breznikov, Duggan’s new manager, stood in the corner in his Russian military uniform, cheering Duggan on while smirking at the ringside fans and into the camera.
Bill Apter interviewed LWF World Heavyweight Champion Lou Thesz, who defends his title against former champion Buddy Rogers in a Last Man Standing match Sunday night at Christmas Eve Of Destruction. He mentioned that this will be the final title match between the two, regardless of who wins. “And, I want to address one thing. Mr. Rogers has a habit of relying on interference from Miss Sherri Martel. I am not a fan of women wrestlers, but, Mr. Apter, there comes a time when a man has to do whatever is necessary. So, I have contacted Miss Ida Mae Martinez, and she will be in my corner to counteract anything that Miss Martel may try. I want to be able to concentrate on Mr. Rogers, and Mr. Rogers alone. Miss Martinez being at ringside will allow me to do so.”
NON-TITLE MATCH ROUGH & READY (w/ Boss Winters) (low-m) beat LWF National Tag Team Champions EAST-WEST CONNECTION (Adrian Adonis & Jesse “The Body” Ventura) (low-b) (w/ Bobby “The Brain“ Heenan) (low) when Ready beat Adonis after Adonis missed a Top Rope Kneedrop (Referee: Gilberto Roman) --Heenan, Adonis & Ventura blew a collective gasket as Winters led his men away in a wild celebration.
Backstage after the break, Okerlund was with Heenan and the National Tag Champions, Adonis & Ventura. Heenan was saying, “It was a fast count, the mat was slick, the sun was in our eyes, Rough or Ready or whoever that jabroni was had a fistful of tights…” Bill Watts stepped in and told Heenan that a match has been signed for Christmas Eve Of Destruction in which the East-West Connection will defend their belts against Rough & Ready. Heenan was speechless as he led his men away.
RIKIDOZAN (low) beat “MODERN DAY WARRIOR” KERRY VON ERICH (low) when Kerry ran into the turnbuckle (Referee: Tommy Young)
LWF World Cruiserweight Champion FRANK GOTCH (low) & LWF National Heavyweight Champion DAN “The BEAST” SEVERN (low) beat “GOLDEN GREEK” JIM LONDOS (low) & “HOMICIDAL, SUICIDAL, GENOCIDAL” SABU (low) by disqualification when Sabu used a steel chair for the Arabian Facebuster on Severn (Referee: Scrappy McGowan)

LEGENDS WRESTLING FEDERATION PAY-PER-VIEW LWF CHRISTMAS EVE OF DESTRUCTION ‘08 HSBC ARENA, BUFFALO, NEW YORK SUNDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2008
*****RESULTS*****
(Card source key: low=Filsinger’s Legends Of Wrestling; low-b=Legends Of Wrestling Bootlegs; low-c=Legends Of Wrestling Creations; low-m=Legends Of Wrestling Memphis Bootlegs)
FREE PRE-PPV MATCH RIKIDOZAN (low) beat BOB BACKLUND (low-b) (w/ “Captain” Lou Albano) (low) with a Forearm Hammer (Referee: Dick Woherle)
LWF CHRISTMAS EVE OF DESTRUCTION ’08 PPV with the broadcast team of Gordon Solie, Jim Ross & Mike Tenay, with backstage interviewer “Mean Gene” Okerlund and Ring Announcer Howard Finkel
LWF NATIONAL TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH Champions EAST-WEST CONNECTION (Adrian Adonis & Jesse “The Body” Ventura) (low-b) (w/ Bobby “The Brain” Heenan) (low) beat ROUGH & READY (w/ Boss Winters) (low-m) by countout to retain the belts (Referee: Nick Patrick) --Angry over being beaten on national TV on Monday night, Adonis & Ventura held nothing back on Winters’ duo, pounding them mercilessly until both Rough and Ready fell out of the ring and couldn’t beat the 10-count back inside.
LWF WOMEN’S WORLD TITLE MATCH Champion “SENSATIONAL” SHERRI MARTEL (low) beat IDA MAE MARTINEZ (low) with the Top Rope Splash finisher to retain the belt (Referee: Earl Hebner) --After the match, Buddy Rogers came out and held Martinez down while Martel dropped knee after knee onto her. Lou Thesz ran out for the save, but the damage was done, and it was doubtful that Martinez would be able to be in Thesz’ corner for the World Title match later in the night.
LWF WORLD CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE MATCH Champion FRANK GOTCH (low) (w/ LWF National Heavyweight Champion Dan “The Beast” Severn) (low) beat “HOMICIDAL, SUIDICAL, GENOCIDAL” SABU (low) with the Gotch Toehold finisher to retain the belt (Referee: David Manning)
BADSTREET SIX-MAN TAG TEAM MATCH ROCK ’N’ ROLL EXPRESS (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) (low-b) & “MODERN DAY WARRIOR” KERRY VON ERICH (low-b) beat FABULOUS FREEBIRDS (Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy, Michael “P.S.” Hayes & Buddy “Jack” Roberts) (low-b) when Von Erich beat Gordy with a Cross-Body Block (Referee: Tommy Young)
Backstage, Gene Okerlund was with World Champion Lou Thesz. Okerlund asked Thesz what he was going to do now that Ida Mae Martinez was unable to be in his corner for his title defense against Buddy Rogers later tonight. Thesz said, “Well, then I guess I’ll have to handle everything myself. That’s not a problem. I’m used to it.”
LWF NATIONAL HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH “GOLDEN GREEK” JIM LONDOS (low) beat Champion DAN “The BEAST” SEVERN (low) (w/ LWF World Cruiserweight Champion Frank Gotch) (low) with the Boston Crab finisher to win the belt (Referee: Gilberto Roman) --Gotch tried to interfere in the match, but Londos gave him the Airplane Spin and dumped him out of the ring. Severn tried to take advantage of the diversion, but Londos tripped him up and locked in the Crab, holding him until he tapped out. Sabu ran out to congratulate Londos as Severn refused Gotch’s offer to help him to the back. Severn limped away and Gotch stood outside the ring as Londos and Sabu celebrated.
SINGAPORE CANE MATCH SANDMAN (low) (w/ “Sir” Oliver Humperdink) (low) beat COUSIN LUKE (low) with the Singapore Cane finisher (Referee: Scrappy McGowan) --Cousin Luke came to the ring with the cane he took from Sandman last week, and Luke had the cane outfitted with a fishing reel as if he were going fishing with Andy & Opie. Sandman hit the ring and was enraged at this, wailing away relentlessly at his opponent and allowing very little offense as he smacked him over the head with the cane for the win.
LWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH, BEST TWO OUT OF THREE FALLS EL GRAN GOLIATH & BLACK GORDMAN (low-b) beat Champions “LEGION OF DOOM” ROAD WARRIORS (Animal & Hawk) (low) (w/ “Precious” Paul Ellering) (low) in two straight falls to win the belts (Referee: Dave Hebner) --Goliath beat Hawk with his Mexican Stretch finisher to take the first fall, and Gordman nailed Animal with a Big Right Hand to knock him senseless and get the second and deciding fall. The announce team called this an upset, as the L.O.D. seemed unbeatable. FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE MATCH, NO HOLDS OR WEAPONS BARRED TERRY FUNK (low-b) beat The SHEIK (low) (w/ “Grand Wizard” Abdullah Farouk) (low) with a Backbreaker (Referee: Johnny “Red Shoes“ Dugan) --Sheik is in the middle of a six-week suspension, but the LWF Board Of Directors decided to allow him to wrestle on this PPV show at Funk’s request. The two started the match on the floor, and Sheik went after the bandages on Funk’s face, covering the burned part. Funk howled in pain with the attack, but he managed to return the favor to Sheik as he clawed at Sheik’s face. Farouk kept his distance as Funk fought like a Wildman, ending up with a Backbreaker on the floor and a pinfall on top of a fan’s spilled soda.
LWF CHRISTMAS EVE OF DESTRUCTION ‘08 MAIN EVENT--LWF WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH, LAST MAN STANDING MATCH Champion LOU THESZ (low-b) beat “NATURE BOY” BUDDY ROGERS (low) (w/ LWF Women‘s World Champion “Sensational“ Sherri Martel) (low) to retain the belt (Referee: Mark Curtis) --Martel interfered, but two large security guards, led by Bill Watts, came out and literally carried Martel to the back, leaving Thesz and Rogers alone. Rogers tried to take Thesz’s legs out with an extended Figure Four Grapevine, but Thesz summoned up his strength to counter it with the Stepover Toehold Facelock. Rogers tapped, but that couldn’t end the match. Thesz finally let go and used the ropes to pull himself up, and the referee counted against Rogers. The “Nature Boy” couldn’t get upright before the 10-count, and Thesz was declared winner and still champion.

LWF WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING & PRIME TIME WRESTLING MELLON ARENA, PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA MONDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2008
*****RESULTS*****
(Card source key: low=Filsinger’s Legends Of Wrestling; low-b=Legends Of Wrestling Bootlegs; low-c=Legends Of Wrestling Creations; low-m=Legends Of Wrestling Memphis Bootlegs)
DARK MATCH “LIVING LEGEND” LARRY ZBYSZKO (low) beat DEWEY ROBERTSON (low) with the Piledriver finisher (Referee: Scrappy McGowan)
LWF PRIME TIME WRESTLING on ABC Family (10 p.m. Eastern/9 p.m. Central Tuesdays, with commentary by Mike Tenay & Larry Matysik and ring announcing by Gary Michael Cappetta)
(Matches to be aired on Tuesday, 12/16/08, along with highlights from tonight‘s World Class Championship Wrestling)
DOMENIC DeNUCCI (low-b) beat “NATURE BOY” BUDDY ROGERS (low) (w/ LWF Women‘s World Champion “Sensational“ Sherri Martel) (low) with the Airplane Spin finisher (Referee: David Manning) --The announcers regarded this as an upset, since Rogers is a former World and National Champion. As DeNucci celebrated, his niece, Trudi, jumped the rail and ran into the ring to celebrate with him. This angered Martel, who hammered Trudi from behind. Domenic went to pull Martel off of his niece, but Rogers was able to get up and jump him. Domenic and Rogers fought as Trudi and Martel rolled around on the mat, punching and clawing at each other. Officials charged the ring to get everyone separated.
“TOTAL PACKAGE” LEX LUGER (low-b) beat BRET “HITMAN” HART (low-b) (w/ “Sir“ Oliver Humperdink) (low) by disqualification (Referee: Bronko Lubich) --Luger had Hart up in his Human Torture Rack finisher when Humperdink gestured towards the back, and Destroyer and Sandman ran out and attacked Luger, causing the DQ. Cousin Luke and Kerry Von Erich ran out to even the sides, with Von Erich Discus Punching Destroyer out over the top rope, Cousin Luke head butting Sandman out and Luger tossing Hart over the top rope. After the commercial break, it was announced that the six men would square off in two weeks in a six-man tag team match, and it was announced that the loser of the fall would leave the LWF.
LWF PRIME TIME WRESTLING MAIN EVENT--NON-TITLE MATCH “LEGION OF DOOM” ROAD WARRIORS (Animal & Hawk) (low) (w/ “Precious” Paul Ellering) (low) beat LWF National Tag Team Champions EAST-WEST CONNECTION (Adrian Adonis & Jesse “The Body” Ventura) (low-b) (w/ Bobby “The Brain” Heenan) (low) when Animal beat Adonis with the Power Slam finisher (Referee: Johnny “Red Shoes“ Dugan) --The Road Warriors looked mad coming into the match, even more so than usual, and it was an unexpected annihilation of the reigning National Tag Champions. Heenan was beside himself at ringside as Animal and Hawk, seething after the way they lost the World Tag Team Titles last night to Goliath & Black Gordman, took out their frustrations on Adonis and Ventura.
ABC & The LWF Present WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING on ABC-TV (8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central Mondays, hosted by Gordon Solie & Jim Ross (hours 1 & 3), Mike Tenay & Larry Matysik (hour 2), Bill Apter, “Mean Gene” Okerlund & Gary Michael Cappetta)
MAURICE “MAD DOG” VACHON (low) beat “PRETTY BOY” LARRY SHARPE (low) by countout (Referee: Tommy Young)
BRUNO SAMMARTINO (low-b) beat TULLY BLANCHARD (low-b) with Power Forearms (Referee: Nick Patrick) --Blanchard cunningly hid a foreign object from the referee and used it to bust Sammartino open in his adopted American hometown. Sammartino, though, used sheer power to overcome the disadvantage and beat Blanchard.
Backstage, Gene Okerlund interviewed LWF General Manager Bill Watts, who talked about the fact that Buddy Rogers would receive no more World Title shots against Lou Thesz, and that a tournament for a new Number One Contender would start tonight. A stagehand interrupted Watts with some information, and Watts excused himself from the interview.
After the commercial break, a camera showed Sabu lying unconscious in a pool of blood. Watts speculated out loud that The Sheik must have had something to do with this. He told Okerlund, who had just caught up to everyone else, that he’s sure Sheik did this, but, without concrete evidence that it was him, he didn’t have a case against the suspended Syrian madman. Watts said he would have to find a replacement for Sabu in his tournament match tonight.
“HACKSAW” JIM DUGGAN (low) (w/ Nikita Breznikov) (low) beat GEORGE SOUTH (low) with the Flying Spear finisher (Referee: Dick Woherle) --Duggan was his usual flag-waving, grinning, “HOOOOO”-ing self, while Breznikov stood stoically in his corner, smirking at the fans while Duggan was occupied. As the referee raised Duggan’s hand in victory, Breznikov got in a stomp on South while Duggan and the ref weren’t looking.
FABULOUS FREEBIRDS (Michael “P.S.” Hayes & Buddy “Jack” Roberts) (low-b) (w/ Terry “Bamm Bamm“ Gordy) (low-b) beat “DOGFACED GREMLIN” RICK & SCOTT STEINER (low-b) when Hayes beat Rick with the Bulldog finisher (Referee: Dave Hebner)
Bill Apter interviewed Bob Backlund, with the number one question being why he had Lou Albano in his corner last night in the pre-Pay-Per-View match against Rikidozan. Backlund said, “It’s very simple, William. I have dominated the Legends Wrestling Federation in the ring in recent months but, time after time, this organization’s Board of Directors have not seen fit to grant me a title match against Louis Thesz, choosing instead to make me jump through hoops in these tournaments. I decided that I needed representation, someone to argue my case before the power-that-be. The good Captain Louis Albano has proven his worth in that capacity. You will recall that he led a marginally talented tag team known as Demolition to the World Tag Team Titles. If not for their runaway egos, they might still be champions today. I placed the call to the Captain, and it did not take much time for him to agree to manage my business affairs while I do what I do best … win wrestling matches, and win them convincingly. Now, I realize I lost to Mr. Rikidozan last night. This organization shows obvious favoritism to those of foreign origin, and that was made clear again last night. Captain Albano was there primarily to observe, but, starting tonight in the Number One Contender Tournament, he will take a more active role in guidance of my career.” Apter asked if that meant Albano would interfere in Backlund’s matches. Backlund glared at him and said, “What nerve you have, asking such a question. William Apter, this interview is over!”
NUMBER ONE CONTENDER TOURNAMENT--QUARTERFINALS LWF World Cruiserweight Champion FRANK GOTCH (low) (w/ Dan “The Beast” Severn) (low) beat “INTELLIGENT SENSATIONAL” DESTROYER (low) (w/ “Sir“ Oliver Humperdink) (low) with the Gotch Toehold finisher to advance in the tournament (Referee: Earl Hebner)
Between matches, the announcers said they had just heard that Bill Watts has chosen a replacement for Sabu in his scheduled match against former National Champion Dan Severn later in the night, and they said the fans in attendance tonight in Pittsburgh would be very pleased.
NUMBER ONE CONTENDER TOURNAMENT--QUARTERFINALS BOB BACKLUND (low-b) (w/ “Captain” Lou Albano) (low) beat TERRY FUNK (low-b) with the Crossface Chicken Wing finisher to advance in the tournament (Referee: Mark Curtis) --Albano did little more than shout advice to Backlund, who took advantage of the still-burned face of Funk to lock in his Chicken Wing and grind his forearm into Funk’s face, causing great pain and a tap-out.
NUMBER ONE CONTENDER TOURNAMENT--QUARTERFINALS RIKIDOZAN (low) beat “MODERN DAY WARRIOR” KERRY VON ERICH (low-b) with the Thunderous Chops finisher to advance in the tournament (Referee: Gilberto Walsh)
LWF WORLD CLASS MAIN EVENT--NUMBER ONE CONTENDER TOURNAMENT--QUARTERFINALS DAN “The BEAST” SEVERN (low) (w/ LWF World Cruiserweight Champion Frank Gotch) (low) beat BRUNO SAMMARTINO (low-b) with the Wakigatame finisher to advance in the tournament (Referee: James Beard) --Bruno, his head bandaged after his earlier match with Tully Blanchard, came out to the roar of his hometown fans as he replaced Sabu in this match. He gave it all he had against Severn, but, once Severn locked in the Wakigatame, Sammartino had no choice but to tap. As Severn celebrated, Blanchard ran in and started pounding Sammartino. Severn looked like he was about to help Blanchard when, suddenly, Larry Zbyszko ran out with a chair, and Blanchard and Severn bailed out of the ring. Gotch and Severn walked to the back as Zbyszko appeared to be protecting Sammartino; however, he suddenly wheeled around and smashed Sammartino with the chair, reopening the still-fresh head wound. Blanchard got back in the ring, and he and Zbyszko double-teamed Sammartino as fans booed loudly and threw trash into the ring. Lex Luger and Kerry Von Erich ran out for the save, and Blanchard and Zbyszko left the ring together, laughing.
Highlights will air, along with matches taped earlier in the night, Tuesday night at 10 p.m. Eastern/9 p.m. Central on LWF Prime Time Wrestling on ABC Family.
UPCOMING SHOWS: 12/22/08--LWF WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING: TRIBUTE TO THE TROOPS, taped at an undisclosed military base in Iraq (LWF Prime Time Wrestling on 12/23 will be a Best Of World Class show) *The First Annual LWF Armed Forces Cup Tournament, plus other matches 12/29/08--LWF WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING / PRIME TIME WRESTLING, Manchester, New Hampshire 1/5/09--LWF WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING / PRIME TIME WRESTLING, New Orleans, Louisiana 1/12/09--LWF WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING / PRIME TIME WRESTLING, Sioux City, Iowa
