LWF NATIONAL HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH “NATURE BOY” BUDDY ROGERS (low) beat Champion “MODERN DAY WARRIOR” KERRY VON ERICH (low-b) with Dropkicks to win the belt after Sherri Martel showed up a ringside and distracted Von Erich; Rogers and Martel left together (Referee: Tommy Young)
LWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH, TWO OUT OF THREE FALLS Champions “LEGION OF DOOM” ROAD WARRIORS (Animal & Hawk) (low) (w/ “Precious” Paul Ellering) (low) beat DEMOLITION (Ax & Smash) (low-b) (w/ “Captain Lou” Albano) (low) two falls to one to retain the belts (Referee: Johnny “Red Shoes“ Dugan) --This time, only Animal and Smash bled. Animal pinned Smash with a Power Slam finisher to win the first fall. Smash came back to pin Animal after a Demolition Decapitation finisher to even things up, but Animal hit another Power Slam finisher on Smash to get the 1-2-3 and keep the belts.
DORY & TERRY FUNK (low-b) beat “DOGFACED GREMLIN” RICK & SCOTT STEINER (low-b) when Dory beat Scott with the Butterfly Suplex finisher (Referee: Dick Woherle)
LWF HARD LABOR ‘08 MAIN EVENT--LWF WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH, TWO OUT OF THREE FALLS LOU THESZ (low-b) beat Champion PEPPER GOMEZ (low) in two straight falls to win the belt (Referee: Scrappy McGowan) --This match was billed as the last time these two would wrestle for the title. Thesz took the first fall with the Stepover Toehold Facelock, and he kept up the pace, beating Gomez with the Greco-Roman Backdrop finisher to regain the belt. Now, as long as Thesz is the champion, Gomez cannot challenge for the belt.

LWF WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING & PRIME TIME WRESTLING ALLEN COUNTY WAR MEMORIAL COLISEUM, FORT WAYNE, INDIANA MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2008
*****RESULTS*****
(Card source key: low=Filsinger’s Legends Of Wrestling; low-b=Legends Of Wrestling Bootlegs; low-c=Legends Of Wrestling Creations; low-m=Legends Of Wrestling Memphis Bootlegs)
DARK MATCH TONY PARISI (low-b) beat DOMENIC DeNUCCI (low-b) with a Boston Crab (Referee: Bronko Lubich)
LWF PRIME TIME WRESTLING on ABC Family (10 p.m. Eastern/9 p.m. Central Tuesdays, with commentary by Mike Tenay & Larry Matysik and ring announcing by Gary Michael Cappetta)
(Matches to be aired on Tuesday, 9/9/08, along with highlights from tonight‘s World Class Championship Wrestling)
LWF National Tag Team Title Co-Holder “HANDS OF STONE” RONNIE GARVIN (low-b) beat “ICEMAN” KING PARSONS (low-b) with the Hands Of Stone finisher (Referee: Scrappy McGowan)
BRET “HITMAN” HART (low-b) beat “PRETTY BOY” LARRY SHARPE (low) with the Sharpshooter finisher (Referee: Dave Hebner) --After the match, Hart went out to Tenay and Matysik and told tem in no uncertain terms that he “didn’t come back to the LWF to wrestle losers like this guy! Tell (LWF General Manager) Bill Watts to read my lips: I … WANT … COMPETITION!” He then went back into the ring and put Sharpe into the Ringpost Figure Four and held it on before referees came out and pried him off.
LWF PRIME TIME WRESTLING MAIN EVENT ROCK ’N’ ROLL EXPRESS (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) (low-b) beat DEMOLITION (Ax & Smash) (low-b) (w/ “Captain” Lou Albano) (low) by countout (Referee: Gilberto Roman) --Ricky came out in a neck brace as a result of being hurt by Demolition last week, and he went ahead and wrestled. Things got out of hand when Morton started swinging a chair, and Albano pulled his men out of the ring and herded them to the dressing room as Referee Roman counted to 10.
ABC & The LWF Present WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING on ABC-TV (8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central Mondays, hosted by Gordon Solie & Jim Ross (hours 1 & 3), Mike Tenay & Larry Matysik (hour 2), Bill Apter, “Mean Gene” Okerlund & Gary Michael Cappetta)
LWF National Tag Team Title Co-Holder BRUNO SAMMARTINO (low-b) beat “INTELLIGENT SENSATIONAL” DESTROYER (low) (w/ “Sir” Oliver Humperdink) (low) with the Bear Hug finisher (Referee: Mark Curtis)
“GOLDEN GREEK” JIM LONDOS (low) beat DAN “The BEAST” SEVERN (low) (w/ LWF World Cruiserweight Champion Frank Gotch) (low) with a Sunset Flip (Referee: James Beard) --Gotch and Severn attacked Londos after the bell, but Bob Backlund ran to the ring, and Gotch & Severn bailed out. Londos got the mic and asked Backlund why he threw in the towel last night, costing Londos the World Cruiserweight Title. Backlund said he knows what it’s like to be caught in an impossible situation, referring to Londos being caught in the Gotch Toehold, and he wanted to spare Londos any possible injury. Londos said he could have tapped if he thought he had to, but “there was no way I was going to tap, not when I knew I could get out of that hold. I didn‘t need you to make that decision for me.” The two men got nose-to-nose for a few seconds before backing off. Backlund offered hishand, and Londos shook it. However, when Londos turned to leave, though, Backlund grabbed him in the Crossface Chicken Wing and applied such pressure that Londos started tapping out! Backlund wouldn’t let go, though, until a crew of referees came out to pry him off. Londos screamed that his left shoulder was hurting as a wild-eyed Backlund slowly backed away from the ring.
Gene Okerlund cornered Backlund in the backstage interview area after the break and asked him what had just happened out there. Backlund said, “Mr. Okerlund … ‘Mean so-called Gene’ … it’s so simple, even you and these plebeians can understand. I am consistently among the top-ranked athletes in this Federation. My won-lost record is second to none. But, do I get consideration for a title shot? No. I see so many wrestlers participating in ‘number one contender matches.’ This organization never asks me to participate. But, you know what? Even if they did, I would turn them down. You see, Mr. Okerlund, I shouldn’t have to jump through hoops like that. I am a former World Champion. On several occasions, I have given Lou Thesz the battle of a lifetime. It’s time I stood up for myself and gave notice that I am willing to do whatever it takes to reclaim that World Title belt.” Okerlund was about to send it back out to Solie and Ross when Backlund snapped, “I’m not yet finished! There is something else that’s eating at me. Think back a few weeks to a match I had with Kerry Von Erich for his National Heavyweight belt. What did he use to beat me? Tell me!” Okerlund said he couldn’t remember off the top of his head. Backlund replied, “I’ll tell you what he used. He used an illegal closed fist. That move you call a Discus Punch. Kerry Von Erich consistently shows a blatant disregard for the rules of professional wrestling. Let me tell you this, I have never seen eye-to-eye with Buddy Rogers, but I must admit I had a smile on my face when Mr. Rogers used a time-tested wrestling maneuver, the flying dropkick, to beat Von Erich for his title last night. Buddy Rogers, I applaud you, and I hope that you will return the favor when I challenge and defeat Lou Thesz for the World Heavyweight Title.”
“TOTAL PACKAGE” LEX LUGER (low) beat “HOMICIDAL, SUICIDAL, GENOCIDAL” SABU (low) (w/ “Grand Wizard” Abdullah Farouk) (low) by disqualification when Sabu used a steel chair for the Arabian Facebuster (Referee: Tommy Young)
EAST-WEST CONNECTION (Adrian Adonis & Jesse “The Body” Ventura) (low-b) (w/ Bobby “The Brain” Heenan) (low) beat JONES BOYS (Mike “Soul Train” Jones & S.D. “Special Delivery” Jones) (low) when Adonis beat Mike with a Cross-Body Block (Referee: Johnny “Red Shoes“ Dugan)
Backstage, Okerlund talked with Killer Kowalski, who said he had challenged Rikidozan to a match in which Rikidozan could only win if he “managed to put me down with those chops of his. I’m a fair man, though, and I said that I could only win if I used my Claw on him. Okerlund, you WILL see my Claw tonight, and you will see me beat that Japanese upstart.”
BOB BACKLUND (low-b) beat GEORGE SOUTH (low) with the Crossface Chicken Wing finisher (Referee: David Manning) --As the match started, Tenay noted that Londos had been taken to a local hospital for observation because of the damage Backlund had done to his shoulder. This match didn’t last long.
In the ring, Bill Apter introduced new National Champion Buddy Rogers and his new valet, Sherri Martel. Apter asked Martel why she helped Rogers last night, but Rogers told Martel he’d handle it. He said, “Bill Apter, I don’t think that our business arrangement is any of your business. I will say this, though. With me, this beautiful young lady has a MUCH better chance of making money, living well and being involved in the World Title picture with me than with that broken-down tag team she was with (the Heavenly Bodies, who have reportedly packed their bags and left the LWF.) I beat Kerry Von Erich last night, and that was only the first step. Lou Thesz, congratulations on winning the World Title. I hope you take good care of that gold belt so that, when I beat you for it, it will look as good as I look. Bill Apter, your next question is obvious. Yes, I have signed for a rematch with Von Erich. I’m not worried. After all, Sherri Martel is the Women’s World Champion, so she knows all about what it takes to climb to the top and stay there. Once I get past Von Erich in our rematch, my next stop will be a World Title match with Lou Thesz. And, to a nicer guy, it couldn’t happen!”
CHOPS VS. CLAW MATCH RIKIDOZAN (low) beat KILLER KOWALSKI (low) with the Thunderous Chops finisher (Referee: Dick Woherle)
NON-TITLE MATCH PEPPER GOMEZ (low) beat LWF World Cruiserweight Champion FRANK GOTCH (low) (w/ Dan “The Beast” Severn) (low) with the Mexican Cradle finisher (Referee: Nick Patrick) --Gotch agreed to this match since Gomez was not only within the 50-pound weight differential but also within the Cruiserweight weight limit. Severn got up on the ring apron, but Gomez dropkicked him to the floor. Gomez then used his patented finisher on Gotch to win the match, causing Solie and Ross to speculate that maybe the former Heavyweight Champion might challenge for the Cruiserweight belt.
LWF MAIN EVENT--NUMBER ONE WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE CONTENDER MATCH “DOGFACED GREMLIN” RICK & SCOTT STEINER (low-b) beat DORY & TERRY FUNK (low-b) when Rick beat Dory with the Steiner Dog finisher (Referee: Earl Hebner) --Paul Ellering sat at ringside with Solie and Ross and provided guest commentary. With the win, the Steiners will now get the next title match against World Champions the Road Warriors, who came to the ring after the match and had an intense staredown with the brothers as Ellering stood between them. The match will take place at The Rising PPV on October 5.
Highlights will air, along with matches taped earlier in the night, Tuesday night at 10 p.m. Eastern/9 p.m. Central on LWF Prime Time Wrestling on ABC Family.

DORY FUNK JR. (low-b) beat LWF National Tag Team Co-Champion BRUNO SAMMARTINO (low-b) with the Butterfly Suplex finisher (Referee: Johnny “Red Shoes“ Dugan)
Bill Apter conducted a split-screen interview with LWF World Heavyweight Champion Lou Thesz, from a gym in St. Louis, and his Number One Challenger, LWF National Heavyweight Champion Buddy Rogers, who was accompanied by Sherri Martel, from poolside in New Jersey. Rogers boasted of his recent won-lost record in the LWF and said that he would easily beat Thesz, saying, “Thesz, you can talk about your technical skill all you want to, but, in the end, it will be this perfect combination of athleticism and charisma that will come out on top as the World Heavyweight Champion.” Thesz acknowledged Rogers’ success but said, “Mr. Rogers, you should make sure that your mouth can’t write any checks your body can’t cash. When we meet on October 5, you will always be one Thesz Press, one Greco-Roman Backdrop or one STF away from being just another pretender to the throne.” Rogers replied, “Thesz, just make sure you’re watching TV next Monday night, when I’ll show you exactly what’s in store for you at The Rising.”
KILLER BEES (B. Brian Blair & “Jumping” Jim Brunzell) (low) beat EL GRAN GOLIATH & BLACK GORDMAN (low-b) by disqualification when Gordman hit Blair with a chair (Referee: Earl Hebner)
“TOTAL PACKAGE” LEX LUGER (low-b) beat BRET “HITMAN” HART (low-b) with a Running Clothesline (Referee: Mark Curtis) --Destroyer appeared in the aisle and wanted to go after Luger, but Humperdink held him back, telling him, “Not now! Not now!” After the match, as Luger stood at the ropes exchanging insults with Destroyer, Hart got back to his feet and nailed Luger in the back, and Humperdink yelled, “NOW!” Destroyer ran in, and he and Hart had a two-on-one advantage on Luger until the Rock ‘N’ Roll Express ran in, chasing off Destroyer and Hart, who returned to the back with Humperdink.
“Mean Gene” Okerlund brought out the LWF World Tag Team Champions, the Road Warriors, and their manager, Paul Ellering. Ellering said that “the Legion of Doom is always ready, no matter the opposition. Tonight, there will be a match, a Number One Contenders’ Match, between the Steiner Brothers, a very deserving duo, and Adrian Adonis and Jesse Ventura. They call themselves the East-West Connection. We shall see if they can connect tonight against the Steiners. May the best team win tonight … but, either way, we know the best team will win in two weeks at The Rising.”
“MODERN DAY WARRIOR” KERRY VON ERICH (low-b) beat “HOMICIDAL, SUICIDAL, GENOCIDAL” SABU (low) (w/ “Grand Wizard” Abdullah Farouk) (low) with the Iron Claw finisher (Referee: Bronko Lubich)
In the back, Gene Okerlund was with Humperdink, Destroyer and Hart, all talking about Luger. Hart said he “never had much use for management, but, Sir Oliver, if you’re willing to talk, so am I.”
LWF National Tag Team Co-Champion “HANDS OF STONE” RONNIE GARVIN (low-b) beat BOB BACKLUND (low-b) with Brutal Chops (Referee: Tommy Young)
Before the Main Event, Backlund cornered Okerlund backstage and complained loudly about Garvin using “illegal closed fists” during the match just completed. “I want a rematch against him next week, Mr. Okerlund, And, I want one stipulation. If the man they call the ‘Hands Of Stone’ uses those illegal closed fists, I want the referee to bring the match to an immediate halt and declare me the winner. I am NOT going to tolerate any infractions of the rules! I want…” He was interrupted by the “Golden Greek,” Jim Londos. Londos spoke quietly but intensely. “Bob Backlund, don’t think I’ve forgotten what you did to me two weeks ago. We have a match signed for The Rising on October 5. Don’t worry about a clean wrestling match. Don’t even worry about winning. Just worry … about getting hurt.” Londos walked away as Backlund seemed to be deep in thought.
LWF MAIN EVENT--LWF NUMBER ONE WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE CONTENDER MATCH EAST-WEST CONNECTION (Adrian Adonis & Jesse “The Body” Ventura) (low-b) (w/ Bobby “The Brain“ Heenan) (low) beat “DOGFACED GREMLIN” RICK & SCOTT STEINER (low-b) when Adonis beat Rick with the Goodnight Irene finisher to earn a shot at the Road Warriors (Referee: Gilberto Roman)

LWF National Tag Team Title Co-Holder BRUNO SAMMARTINO (low-b) beat “PRETTY BOY” LARRY SHARPE (low) with the Backbreaker finisher (Referee: David Manning)
Bill Apter brought out the World Tag Team Champions, the Road Warriors, with their manager, Paul Ellering. Ellering welcomed the challenge of Bobby Heenan’s East-West Connection, saying the Legion Of Doom are ready to “break a sweat” in the LWF. Heenan, Adrian Adonis and Jesse Ventura came out, and Heenan told Ellering, Animal and Hawk, “Oh, you’ll do more than break a sweat. You’ll break some bones, too. YOUR bones. See, Ellering, what these humanoids aren’t taking into consideration is the fact that my team has just as much power, with ‘The Body,’ and just as much street smarts, with Adrian Adonis, as your boys. In fact, the word ‘smart’ should never be used in the same sentence at the words ‘Road Warriors.’ Your guys can’t even go to the bathroom without you to help them aim.” As Animal and Hawk made a move, Adonis and Ventura made a move, and the two teams stood uneasily closely. As both managers held their men back, Heenan said, “We’re not here tonight to fight. We’re here to serve notice, sled dog driver, that you should cherish those title belts and shine them up real nice. Take lots of pictures of them. Come Sunday night, those belts will be ours, and we will destroy the myth of the Legion of Doom once and for all!”
EL GRAN GOLIATH & BLACK GORDMAN (low-b) beat KILLER BEES (B. Brian Blair & “Jumping” Jim Brunzell) (low) when Goliath beat Blair with the Mexican Stretch finisher (Referee: Scrappy McGowan)
NON-TITLE MATCH TERRY FUNK (low-b) beat LWF World Cruiserweight Champion FRANK GOTCH (low) (w/ Dan “The Beast” Severn) (low) by disqualification when Severn interfered (Referee: Gilberto Roman)
TONY PARISI (low-b) beat MIKE “SOUL TRAIN” JONES (low) with the Cannonball finisher (Referee: Dave Hebner)
DAN “The BEAST” SEVERN (low) (w/ LWF World Cruiserweight Champion Frank Gotch) (low) beat RIKIDOZAN (low) with a Heel Hook (Referee: Johnny “Red Shoes“ Dugan)
CLOSED FISTS ARE ILLEGAL BOB BACKLUND (low-b) beat “HANDS OF STONE” RONNIE GARVIN (low-b) with the Crossfade Chicken Wing finisher (Referee: Bronko Lubich)
NON-TITLE MATCH LWF National Heavyweight Champion “NATURE BOY” BUDDY ROGERS (low) (w/ LWF Women’s World Champion “Sensational” Sherri Martel) (low) beat “ICEMAN” KING PARSONS (low-b) with the Figure Four Grapevine finisher (Referee: Dick Woherle) --LWF World Champion Lou Thesz joined Ross and Solie at ringside for guest commentary. Parsons started the match like a house afire, totally surprising Rogers and Martel. At one point, Parsons gave the champion the Butt-Butt and went for the cover, but Martel put Rogers’ foot on the bottom rope at the last second before Referee Woherle could count to three. As Parsons argued with Martel, Rogers got up and clipped Parsons from behind, setting him up for the Grapevine and forcing a tapout. Rogers was slow to release after the bell, though, and Thesz climbed into the ring and literally pried the two men’s legs apart. Rogers jumped to his feet and stared down Thesz, who stared right back as Parsons limped to the back and Martel urged Rogers to “save it for Sunday night!”
LWF WORLD CLASS MAIN EVENT--SIX-MAN TAG TEAM MATCH “TOTAL PACKAGE” LEX LUGER (low-b) & ROCK ’N’ ROLL EXPRESS (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) (low-b) beat DESTROYER (low) (w/ “Sir” Oliver Humperdink) (low) & DEMOLITION (Ax & Smash) (low-b) (w/ “Captain” Lou Albano) (low) when Morton beat Smash with the Double Dropkick finisher (Referee: Tommy Young) --Before the match, the penalty box was brought to ringside to illustrate and Penalty Box Match coming up Sunday night between the Rock ‘N’ Rolls and Demolition on Pay-Per-View. After the match, Luger and Destroyer fought to the back, with Humperdink and Bret Hart getting their shots in on Luger, and Demolition attacked the Express from behind. They and Albano then locked Gibson in the penalty box and beat down Morton three-on-one, giving him two Demolition Decapitations before officials with bolt cutters were able to get Gibson out of the cage. The damage had been done by the time Gibson was able to come to his partner’s rescue as Albano led his men to the back, laughing as Gibson and Referee Young tended to the nearly unconscious Morton.
Highlights will air, along with matches taped earlier in the night, Tuesday night at 10 p.m. Eastern/9 p.m. Central on LWF Prime Time Wrestling on ABC Family.
