Pop-Up Pre-Show #2: ACTION Wrestling Newnan High School
Newnan, GA
May 21, 2022Commentary: Joe Dombrowski
Ring Announcer: Scott Hensley
Referee: Aaron "Shiny Shoes" Noyes
All matches contested under Level 1 Rules (strict).
Joe: “Welcome to our second pop-up event. We are here with our friends, ACTION Wrestling. Speaking of action, let’s get to it!”
Calvin Tankman vs. Kevin Ku
Joe: “Kevin Ku has had a lot of success here in the Atlanta area but it’s not often he steps in the ring with someone as imposing as ‘Heavyweight Hustle’ Calvin Tankman.”
Ku is greeted with huge chops from Tankman. Ku hits Calvin with a big leg lariat coming off the ropes and strings together some offense. Ku dropped by a head butt. Tankman with some crushing moves. Ku tries fighting back but takes a brutal brainbuster. Tankman covers for just a one count. Big man goes to the top and misses a moonsault. Insane show of strength by Ku as he executes Ku-Die On Stage. Ku with the pin attempt but doesn’t even get one! Ku is all over Tankman with slams and strikes. Ku is getting gassed a little and starts having difficulty with his opponents size. Tankman makes a comeback. Sitout powerbomb followed by a spinebuster and Hidden Blade. Ku looks like he’s out. Three count for Tankman.
Joe: “An impressive showing by Kevin Ku but Calvin Tankman avoids the upset.”
Winner: Calvin Tankman
When it is time for his ring entrance, AC Mack comes out to a great reception from the crowd. He makes the rounds greeting fans at ringside.
AC Mack vs. Orin Veidt
Joe: “AC Mack is THE hot property in the Southeast. He faces a man just starting to get his feet wet in PWIS, Orin Veidt.”
Mack is full on at the bell, staggering Veidt, then putting him down with a basement uppercut. The fans are excitedly cheering him on. The set-up, and the fans know what is next - the Mack 10. Cover and only a two count as some of the air goes out of the crowd. Top Shelf, All Falls Down, and 927 leads to another pin attempt by AC. Two count. Mack 10 again! Near fall. Counter, counter, 927. 1-2-3. AC Mack for the win!
Louis: “Dominant win by AC Mack. And for Veidt, it’s back to the drawing board.”
Winner: AC Mack
Chris Masters comes to the ring, cocky and sneering at the fans as he slowly makes his way around the ring. Once inside the ring, Masters takes the mic from ring announcer Scott Hensley.
“What is this? Seriously, are we actually in a high school gym? If I knew this was going to be such a hick show, I would have stayed home.”
Fans yell at him that he should have but he just smirks and continues to run them down.
“I mean, how many of you people even graduated from high school? This is Georgia after all.”
The crowd is really worked up at this point. Before Masters can get another word out, PJ Hawx comes down to the ring.
“Chris Masters. I for one have heard enough of you running down the great people of Georgia.”
“Who are you supposed to be?”
“You know who I am. Even if you pretend you don’t, then just know that I’m the guy who’s going to teach you some manners.”
“Hah, hah. Alright get outta here.”
PJ doesn’t budge. Masters starts to look irritated.
“Ok, tough guy. Whaddaya say? You wanna take the Masterlock Challenge?”
PJ looks to the crowd. Most cheer him on but some shake their heads, not confident that the outcome will be in PJ’s favor.
“Nah. You wouldn’t stand a chance. And to be honest, you look a little scared to me.”
PJ bucks up defiantly.
“Alright. Get in the ring, punk.”
After the prescribed amount of stalling and rigmarole, the challenge starts in earnest. Masters' grip is unrelenting as Hawx struggles to escape. Once PJ appears to have had enough, Masters releases the hold. PJ slumps to his knees. Chris then urges the ref to ring the bell to start the match.
Chris Masters vs. PJ Hawx
Hawx starts at a big disadvantage and gets rocked by a sitout spinebuster. Samoan Drop by Masters and PJ is convulsing on the mat. Masters climbs to the top rope but takes too much time and Hawx recovers. PJ hops up and suplexes Chris off the buckle. Cover by Hawx for two. Hawx tries grappling but Masters blocks a belly to belly suplex. Back and forth whips into the corner. Masters tries a sneaky cradle with his feet on the ropes but Shiny Shoes catches it. PJ tries some amateur techniques again with a similar result, unable to overcome the power disadvantage. Masters with a scoop powerslam and near fall. Masters continues to knock Hawx around with PJ showing a few short flashes of a comeback until he surprises Masters with a counter piledriver. Chris rolls out to the floor to shake it off. PJ comes after him but gets introduced face-first to the ring steps. Back in the ring, Masters repeatedly slams PJ to the mat. After a couple of failed pin attempts, Masters stalks Hawx from behind and applies the Masterlock. PJ holds out for a bit but ends up having to relent to the hold. Masters rubs it in with the crowd before arrogantly striding to the back.
Joe: “Chris Masters once again playing the part of the consummate bully. But it cannot be denied that he is a force to reckon with in PWIS.”
Winner: Chris Masters
Joe: “Thanks again for joining us tonight and be sure to mark your calendars for our next live event on June 5th. Goodnight.”

The Masterpiece continues to make a name for himself... Putting notches in the Win column and cutting promos that simply cannot be ignored... Gotta wonder -- Are we staring down the barrel of an inevitable Masters vs. Gage showdown? Brilliant pop-up preshow, my friend... Excited for more!

Gotta wonder -- Are we staring down the barrel of an inevitable Masters vs. Gage showdown? Brilliant pop-up preshow, my friend... Excited for more! A Masters/Gage confrontation is intriguing. I have some ideas along those lines but that may be a little further down the line. Unless circumstances put them on a more immediate collision course. Thanks for the enthusiasm. More on the way very soon.

Chris Masters is on fire right now. I really liked the Masterlock challenge and subsequent match with PJ Hawx. Shane Mercer should pose an interesting challenge upcoming. Cool also to see Calvin Tankman having some success in PWIS.
The Burden of Restlessness looks like it is going to be a solid show. I'm looking forward to it.
