The Burden of Restlessness RDS Gym
Crown Point, IN June 5, 2022Commentary: Joe Dombrowski
Ring Announcer: Larry Legend
Referees: Jake Clemons, Kris Levin
All matches contested under Level 1 Rules (strict) unless otherwise indicated.
Larry: “Welcome to Pro Wrestling Independent Spirit! Our opening contest is scheduled for one fall!”
Crowd: “ONE FALL!!”
Triple Threat Match Kylie Rae vs. Willow Nightingale vs. Miranda Gordy
Joe: “We start the night with three ladies who can bring it.”
Miranda takes the early advantage with a piledriver on Kylie. Short-arm clothesline puts Kylie down and Miranda makes the cover. Willow breaks up the pin attempt and goes after Miranda. Willow tries to celebrate a roundhouse kick with some dance moves but Gordy puts a stop to it with a big forearm smash. Samoan Drop knocks the wind out of Willow. Gordy with a Power Slam and a three count!
Joe: “Big win by Miranda against two formidable opponents.”
Winner: Miranda Gordy
Larry: “It’s about to go down!”
KTB makes his entrance and gets a good reception but it’s nothing compared to the ruckus made when Nick Gage comes through the curtain. Following closely behind Gage is Wes Barkley with his head down and one of his fingers hooked in Gage’s belt loop. The situation makes KTB do a double take. Gage demands the microphone from Larry.
“Where’s my gang at?!!"
The crowd raucously responds. Gage nods his satisfaction. He grabs a chair from the front row and slides it up to the ring next to one of the ring posts. He shoves Barkley towards the chair.
“Sit your ass down!”
Wes sheepishly obeys.
“Kyle the Beast. You and I go way back and I know you’re a tough guy. For real. And guys like us, we like to fight. We like to punch and kick and beat the sh*t out of each other with steel chairs and tables and whatever the f- else they have under that ring. I say screw the rules and we have a hardcore match. What do you think?”
KTB answers with a scowl and a nod.
“All right, let’s go!!”
Larry bolts as Gage jumps in the ring and starts throwing down with KTB.
Nick Gage vs. KTB Level 2 Rules (relaxed)
Joe: “It would appear Nick Gage is playing by his own rules again.”
Gage takes the striking advantage but KTB shows some great agility for a big man and has Gage bailing to the floor. KTB goes for a suicide dive but Gage cuts him off and DDTs him on the apron. Nick hits a wall with a shoulder tackle attempt and KTB plants him with a Beasthammer. KTB rocks Gage with a bevy of his signature moves. Nick works his way back into it and hits a falcon arrow for a two count. Piledriver by Gage for another two. Chokebreaker - three count. Gage celebrates at ringside with his fans then boots Wes off his chair. “Let’s go!” He pauses, waiting for Wes to take a loop, then they leave.
Joe: “I don’t like what I’m seeing here but Nick Gage with another win. He may be joining the Six of Eight before we know it.”
Winner: Nick Gage
Lee Moriarty vs. Tony Deppen
Joe: “We could see quite the fulcrum shift if Deppen can pull off a win against the undefeated Moriarty.”
Moriarty misses his opening shot, a discus forearm. Deppen with the trip and slingshot senton. Tony executes his striking game with an STF thrown in the mix. Moriarty reverses off the ropes with a DDT, spoiling Deppen's momentum. Seated double stomp and a cover by Moriarty. Two count. Lee keeps Deppen off balance with a fast-paced assault until Tony halts it with a running forearm smash. Deppen pushes his advantage but gets caught with another slick reversal by Moriarty who then hits the Taigadriver X. Tony kicks out at one! Moriarty goes to the top rope for a double stomp to the arm, setting up Joint Custody and a tap out by Deppen.
Joe: “Lee Moriarty is undoubtedly the early favorite going into the championship tournament coming up at Spirit of Independence 2022.”
Winner: Lee Moriarty
Shane Mercer is greeted with an “I-ron De-mon” chant as he comes to the ring. After a bit of a delay, Chris Masters makes his entrance. He slowly makes his way around the ring, taking in the environs, occasionally pausing to smirk at a heckler. He asks for the microphone.
“We’re in a freakin’ gymnasium again.” (shaking his head) “And look, it’s Shane Mercer again, too. How’s it going, Knockoff? Ha, ha. Just kidding. And you know what else we have that seems to be on repeat? Crappy booking. Hey, Joe Dombrowski. You know I’m trying to focus on qualifying for the championship tournament and what do you do? You try to bog me down with some kind of… grudge match? A match that does nothing to improve my standing against a mid-card guy who’s trying to have a beef with me. Ok, Shane, I’ll admit I got a little butt hurt when they tried to make you a placeholder for me. I was totally justified but I could’ve been a little more… professional about it. I said some things, called you a knock off, but no hard feelings, man. I mean, I’m not going to apologize or anything but I say let bygones be bygones. Waddaya say?”
“I say get in this ring so I can kick your ass!”
The fans woot and Masters looks taken aback. After a bit of commotion from the crowd, Masters appears resigned to having the match but still takes his time removing his ring gear and climbing between the ropes.
Chris Masters vs. Shane Mercer
Joe: “Fans, I don’t know what to say at this point. Chris Masters seems incapable of just getting in the ring and wrestling.”
Mercer wins the early battle of brawn and demonstrates his power with Asmodeus Wrath, slamming Masters to the mat. Mercer tosses Masters around some more but misses a charge into the corner and Chris school boys him for a one count. Samoan Drop by Masters rattles his opponent and he moves in for the Masterlock. Mercer struggles to power out but it’s “The Masterpiece” showing the superior strength this night. The ref checks and Mercer is unresponsive. Ring the bell. Masters shouts over the crowd: “Hey, Joe. What’s it going to be next? You put ‘em up and I’ll knock ‘em down.”
Joe: (sigh) "Just wrestle, Chris. Just wrestle.“
Winner: Chris Masters
Six of Eight: Win and You're In Jordan Oliver vs. Madman Fulton
Joe: “Both of these men are on the cusp of competing in the PWIS Championship tournament at Spirit of Independence. Let’s see if Jordan Oliver can overcome the size disadvantage or will it be Fulton joining the Six of Eight.”
Jordan surprises everyone by hefting the bigger man multiple times. Fulton tires of this and no sells a short-arm lariat and gorilla press slams his opponent. Jordan arches his back in pain after the hard impact with the mat. Powerbomb and Boston Crab by Fulton. Oliver reaches to ropes for the break. Snake eyes and big boot, Fulton with the cover. Two. Fulton takes it to the floor but Oliver posts him and goes to the top rope but Fulton shoves him off the turnbuckle, toppling Jordan back into the ring. Powerbomb and Boston Crab again and Oliver has to tap out.
Joe: “Madman Fulton has qualified! As for Jordan Oliver, he still has a chance to get in but his odds have become slimmer.”
Winner: Madman Fulton
Larry: “All right ladies and gentlemen, let’s keep the ball rolling here.”
Jake Something vs. Calvin Tankman
Joe: “It’s hoss battle time as ‘Heavyweight Hustle’ Calvin Tankman takes on the most dominating force to come out of Black Label Pro - the man know simply as Jake Something.”
Calvin and Jake get in each other's faces as Larry makes the introductions and Something attacks before the bell. Jake crushes Tankman with a pair of Fire Thunder Drivers. Toss to the ropes - MFKR! Cover by Jake but Calvin kicks out at two. Something doesn’t let up. Wicked lariat to the back of the head. Something Bomb! The ring shudders!. Something Bomb again. Cover. Kick out at one! Third Something Bomb but Jake is looking a little gassed. Calvin tries fighting back. Pounce off the ropes levels Jake! Tankman throws some strikes but they don’t have a lot behind them. Jake counters with a Fire Thunder Driver. This time for a three count.
Winner: Jake Something
Joe: “I know I just called the match but I’m speechless as to the devastation just exhibited by Jake Something. That is a scary man. Well, that’s all for this time. Follow us on social media for announcements regarding our events July 4th weekend. This is Joe Dombrowski, goodnight.”

Moriarty remains undefeated... Gage disposes of another opponent while continuing to drag Wes Barkley around like an abused valet... Masters proves that he has the ability to back up his arrogance... And Jake Something emerges victorious in rather impressive fashion... Things are really shaping up nicely for the upcoming title tournament... Stoked!

Great show. I'm loving Lee Moriarty being an early favorite to win the championship. It won't be easy, but I like his chances going in. Chris Masters and Nick Gage continue to dominate, and I have to say Madman Fulton is another one I have my eye on. He could be a real force to be reckoned with in PWIS.

I'm happy to have a few guys who have done well enough to stand apart and lead the pack. Having a couple of clear top seeds for the upcoming tournament lends to the drama. Thanks for checking in!

Lee Moriarty and Madman Fulton are in. Moriarty being favored obviously means he isn't going to win, right? LOL. Fulton could make some waves and it's safe to say Nick Gage will be in the mix. That leaves three openings and don't forgot the two 'ringers' coming in. One of them may even be some people's pick to take it. Announcements are starting soon as we approach July 4th. Thanks for commenting!

Biscuit
Video clip backstage at "The Burden of Restlessness".
The camera follows Joe Dombrowski as he moves through the throng assembled behind the scenes at the RDS Gym who are preparing for the show. He appears to be looking for someone. Something catches his eye and he looks to the camera and points to where Nick Gage is standing. Joe approaches Gage.
“Nick, can I speak to you a moment?”
“Sure, Joe. What’s on your mind?”
“Actually, I wanted to ask you about Wes Barkley…”
Joe looks over Nick’s shoulder at Wes, who is seated, huddled against the wall. Gage coldly looks to Wes, then back to Joe, eyes narrowed, with a sinister hint of a smile.
“Ahh, I don’t know any Wes, Joe. It’s just me and Biscuit here.”
Wes’ eyes glance up at Joe. Gage barks at him.
“What the f- are you looking at?”
Wes flinches and goes back to facing the wall. Joe looks appalled. “Wes... are you ok?”
“Sorry, Joe but we’re kinda busy here. You gotta go. Now.”
Gage takes a challenging stance between Joe and Wes. Joe backs off with a glance of trepidation at the camera. Gage's harsh voice can be heard on last time before the video cuts.
"What’d I tell you? You keep your eyes down."

Some of the best heel work I've ever witnessed... You've actually got me hating Nick Gage right now... Outrageous! Ha ha! Awesome! I wanted to take this ex-con thug character that many fans think is ‘cool’ and make him as menacing as he should be. A guy you shouldn’t like. Gangsta culture be damned. Now the bigger trick: can I bring him back around to where you can like him again? While that may remain to be seen, he’s got a whole lot more bad to be before we reach that point.

Pretty certain I've said this before, but it bears repeating... You do an absolutely superb job with character development in your feds... Please keep doing what you're doing because I enjoy this stuff immensely... And thank you for sharing!
