It has been announced that, similar to Chikara, expansion packs will be released throughout the coming year to bolster the ROH roster. There has already been preliminary rumblings of an alumni edition, but there are a lot of current wrestler who should make the cut first, in my opinion.
To round out the current roster there's Bobby Fish, BJ Whitmer, Bravado Brothers, QT Marshall, and Tadarius Thomas. Grizzly Redwood is still on the roster page even though he's only been used a few times in the last six months or so. Non-wrestlers include RD Evans, Prince Nana, Nigel in his current role, and a Todd Sinclair referee card. I'd make a real good case for a Brutal Bob Evans wrestling card, too. There are the "women of honor" including Mia Yim, Veda Scott, the recent addition to the roster MsChif, and maybe even Maria. Following all of those we get to the alumni and guys like Aries, Claudio, Danielson, and Hero.
Thoughts? Opinions? What should come first? Who should take priority here? Am I rushing this thread since the first edition is still days away from release?

I don't disagree that the current roster should be made available quickly, because I'm a greedy type and i want all the cards now. That said, you have to consider what would have the most appeal. While hardcore fans of the promotion might love BJ Whitmer and Tadarius Thomas, if I'm a more casual fan (but not so casual that I've never heard of these guys), I have to ask myself who has more appeal? A set featuring Tadarius Thomas, BJ Whitmer, and the Bravados, or a set featuring former World Champions Bryan Danielson, Austin Aries, and Nigel McGuinness, and former Tag Team Champions the Kings of Wrestling and the Age of the Fall.
Maybe the smart play is to combine the two, so that every set of six has 3 current guys, 1 gal/manager/other, and 2 alumni cards?

I would prefer to see the current roster rounded out before an alumni set.

don't forget Matt Hardy & The Headbangers
I'd like to get the current roster filled before seeing the alumni
the order I'd like to see guys in the coming sets 1. Matt Hardy 2. QT Marshall 3. Bobby Fish 4. Mosh 5. Thrasher 6. Prince Nana 7&8. Bravados 9. TaDarius Thomas 10. BJ Whitmer 11. RD Evans 12. Andy "Right Leg" Ridge (he's still listed on the roster but I haven't seen him in months) 13. Ernesto Osiris (haven't seen him lately either) 14. Grizzly Redwood
mix in a Nigel commish, Todd Sinclair referee & Veda Scott interview cards and maybe some women too

It's never too early!!! It's always fun to speculate as to who will be coming next and whatnot. I agree, the current roster should be completed before we get to the alumni like Hero and Claudio etc, because dag, do we really need a FIFTH CC card anytime soon?! Kind of what baffled me about the recent Chikara Tecnicos pack where we got Da Soul Touchaz who compete only sporadically, and not Mr. Touchdown who is quite possibly the hottest guy in the company right now. I know we'll get him, I just think we should've gotten him sooner rather than later.
But back on topic, for the 1st expansion pack (assuming it's a 6-pack), as long as it has the Bravados I'll be a happy camper. Throw in an Authority Figure card for either Cornette or Nigel, a couple others, and if he becomes a regular in the promotion, it'd be pretty awesome to get Matt Hardy.
The set mails out in just 5 days and I'm pretty psyched!

If it is going to be six card sets similar to CHIKARA I would like to see a mix. A nice first set could be:
1) Bobby Fish 2) Tadarius Thomas 3 & 4) Bravado Brothers 5) Prince Nana 6) Nigel McGuinness (wrestler or commish, but i prefer wrestler and have it based on his run as ROH champion)
Just my two cents...

don't forget Matt Hardy & The Headbangers Headbangers are done with ROH and Matt's likely a one time appearance. I want the Legends of Honor set first. ROH Champion Danielson and Nigel would be huge additions to the main event scene, KOW would give us yet another tag team, and Aries could reform Gen Next with Strong (since the card would be based off Aries' ROH prime, which was with Generation Next and not TGMTEL) and then Tyler Black could reform AOTF or strike out as a singles guy. That pack on paper is more interesting to me than anything else right now. That said, I really want a Bobby Fish card.

Maybe the smart play is to combine the two, so that every set of six has 3 current guys, 1 gal/manager/other, and 2 alumni cards? well without a doubt it is the ROH legends who have the greater general appeal/marketability. For example, ROH within the past 15 months has released DVD compilations for Bryan Danielson, Nigel McGuinness, Kings of Wrestling, Austin Aries (and now that he has made the main WWE roster I expect to see a Tyler Black DVD compilation released very soon too- although with ROH you never know for sure as it took them 8 months after the WWE started its version of Summer of Punk to release its compilation for the original Summer of Punk yet only 2 days last summer after Austin Aries won the TNA belt to release their Austin Aris compilation.) but ROH does not release DVD compilations for wrestlers such as BJ Whitmer, the Bravados, Grizzly Redwood, etc. also for example, I think the recent poll for the next two CHIKARA packs shows that alot of people who play but aren't members of this board tend to really desire the Indy legends too as the votes on the CHIKARA message board clearly indicate. I would think releasing a ROH Legends set should be done soon or- similar to what you suggested at the end of your post- then perhaps at least releasing one ROH legend per expansion pack as a headliner to help sell the expansion pack would be a good idea (although I never complain if there is not a headliner in a set.) On a side note, I prefer not to mix black and white cards with color cards (just personal preference.) So for ROH, I want color cards for wrestlers such as Nigel McGuinness and Chris Hero more than color cards for wrestlers such as Tadarius Thomas and QT Marshall (although I definitely still want them too.)

just a thought about an alumni set,
seeing the Chikara poll has guys on it that haven't wrestled in Chikara in years wouldn't that also mean ROH would also be open to putting anyone from the past roster into the game?
I'm guessing those guys on the Chikara poll (like Reckless Youth for example) who haven't been around have not been signed but are just eligable because they're former roster members.
so... is it really that impossible that we get a set with CM Punk, Samoa Joe, Matt Sydal, Christopher Daniels or Low Ki since they're former roster members? ROH can still put out DVDs of former roster members, why not have them in a card game?

I don't know all the inside details, but I think all those past Chikara names can be used because Quackenbush created the characters, or more specifically owns the name itself. For ROH and other feds, I'm pretty sure each wrestler still has to sign the form giving permission to be in the game. That's why I don't believe any wrestler who ever worked for ROH is automatically eligible to get a card.
As far as the ROH dvds, it's their footage, they can create any set of disks on a certain wrestler that they want.
