Pariah. There seems to be a lot of movement in the Tag Team Division right now so I am not sure which team will come out with title shots down the road.
Card 07 – Memorial Auditorium, Kitchener, ON – March 8, 2015
“Bullet” Bob Armstrong v. Iron Mike DiBiase
DiBiase shows some great countering early on and gets a two count off a spinning neckbreaker (ch). Neither man is afraid to mix things up in or out of the ring. During the brawling on the floor, DiBiase cracks Armstrong with one of the tag team title belts but the referee is on it and calls for the disqualification. The fans don’t like the result and Armstrong looks like he is anything but finished with DiBiase (1.0).
The Poffos (Angelo Poffo & “Leaping” Lanny Poffo) v. Tyler Black & Chris Hero
The Poffos manage to cut off Black for a good portion of the early action and work him over. Black reverses a whip on the floor and sends the elder Poffo into the ring post. Hero is in and picks up two after a deathjump cross body block. Poffo is able to counter a fireman’s carry slam and Lanny Poffo tags in with some speed. Springboad senton gets two. Hero is able to use his size to slow things down but the pace picks back up with Black against Poffo. Black hits a turnbuckle powerbomb and then nails a deathjump clothesline. PHOENIX SPLASH (3). Hero blocks Angelo from making the save and the referee makes the three count. (2.0)
Brad Armstrong v. Nigel McGuinness
McGuinness attempts to jump Armstrong on the floor but Armstrong turns things around ramming McGuinness into a table at ringside. The action goes back outside immediately and this time McGuinness gets the advantage with a questionable kick that earns him heat. McGuinness works over Armstrong on the mat but a deathjump is countered with a boot to the face. Armstrong mounts the top for his own deathjump and McGuinness gets his boot up for the counter. Both men are down and the fans are on their feet. JAWBREAKER LARIAT but Armstrong kicks out. It goes back and forth with Armstrong struggling to get his offense in and when he does it is single moves at a time. McGuinness strikes start to take apart Armstrong. McGuinness with corner-to-corner forearm strikes which sets up a short-arm lariat for the win. (2.0)
Colt Cabana & Mike Whipwreck v. Commonwealth Champion Stevie Richards & Justin Credible
The fans seemed to really enjoy the antics of Cabana and Whipwreck early on. Richards wants no part of being in the ring with Cabana and quickly tags out at the sign of trouble. Credible connects with a clothesline on Cabana and then cracks him with a SINGAPORE CANE for a two count. There is no love for the referee. THAT’S INCREDIBLE gets another near fall. Richards then decides it is safe to tag him for a STEVIE KICK but cannot get the win. Richards assaults Cabana at ringside including choking him with a chair leading to a near count out. Choke slam leads to more brawling on the floor but this time Cabana wrestles away a chair from Richards and rams it into his midsection. Whipwreck is in to a huge ovation. Frankenmikey rocks Richards followed by a second one. 1, 2, kick out. It is all Whipwreck as he hit everything including a deathjump smash and third Frankenmikey. Cabana tags in and nails Richards with a powerbomb but Richards gets the shoulder up at the last second. Credible is able to finally tag in and there is huge heat. Cabana pours it on. Flying hip attack sets up a folding Lou Thesz Press for two. Whipwreck keeps the pressure on. Richards is able to get the tag back in dominates against Whipwreck. Credible and Richards work over Whipwreck but do not get close to a pin before Cabana gets the hot tag. It is back and forth. Whipwreck is back in against Credible and takes the battle to the floor but comes up short. Richards tags and Stevie-T gets a near fall. Richards then hits a second Stevie-T to get the three count. (4.0)
Billy “Red” Lyons v. Austin Aries
Aries and Lyons are quick to say the least and the fans settle in for some solid action. Aries nails a brainbuster and then uses a slingshot senton to set up the LAST CHANCERY. Lyons cannot counter and Aries picks up a dominating victory (dud)
Best of Three Falls Match – Jerry Lynn v. Bryan Danielson
The atmosphere at ringside is electric for this one at the outset. Danielson breaks through the exchange of counters first with a Yakuza Kick that gets the first near fall of the bout. Lynn comes back including an impressive looking tilt-a-whirl head scissors that leads to a DDT for his own near fall. Lynn forces Danielson to the floor with a top rope hurcanrana and follows him to ringside. Danielson gets the upper hand with kicks and then traps Lynn in CATTLE MUTILATION. Lynn makes the ropes. They stay on the mat until Lynn manages to hit another tilt-a-whirl head scissors – DDT combo for a two and a half count. The fans thought it was over and Danielson is reeling. CRADLE PILEDRIVER. 1, 2, kick out. Danielson suplexes his way out of trouble and Lynn’s previously injured shoulder is tested. Back to back Yakuza kicks are on target and give The American Dragon the first fall. Although down one fall, Lynn was by no means out of it. Lynn starts the second fall strong including a body slam and German suplex that forces Danielson to take a powder. Dive to the floor and both men go down in a heap. Lynn beats the count and The Dragon rolls in as well just before the ten count. CRADLE PILEDRIVER and it is one fall each. The fans are loving it. Danielson has some strong words for the official as the bell sounds allowing Lynn to get the jump but Danielson counters a backbreaker and then drops Lynn with a Yakuza Kick. 1, 2, 3. The match is over and Danielson gets the win. (4.0)
The Valiant Brothers (Jimmy & Johnny Valiant) w/Captain Lou Albano v. Backseat Boyz (Trent Acid & Johnny Kashmere)
Commissioner Cox has decided that if the Valiant’s go over clean, they will be rewarded with a shot at the Tag Team Titles. Kashmere uses his speed to avoid Johnny Valiant’s offense early on but gets caught with a body slam from Jimmy Valiant followed by a fist drop for a two count. Valiant uses a foreign object to the throat earning great heat. The Valiant keep Kashmere isolated and the Captain could not be more pleased. Kashmere catches Jimmy Valiant with a tackle and hot tags in Acid. Acid cleans house. Kashmere gets back into the action but again gets overpowered by Jimmy Valiant. Double clothesline from the Valiants. Jimmy Valiant & Kashmere brawl on the floor. They trade punches on the apron and Kashmere ducks, backdropping Jimmy Valiant into the ring just as the referee finishes the ten count. The Valiants win via count-out. Albano is furious as they must now find another way to a tag team title shot. (1.5)
Canadian Heavyweight Title Match – Danny Hodge (ch) v. Tiger Mask
Ringside is jammed with representatives of the Asian Sports media. A Puroresu ceremony takes place prior to the opening bell. Handshake equals ovation. Hodge knows that he must keep the bout grounded and he sets the pace attempting a submission with Boston Crab early on. Hodge keeps on his challenger with a lengthy abdominal stretch. Twice Mask is tossed to the floor but Hodge allows him re-entry. Clearly Hodge is attempting to get under the skin of his challenger and it works. Standing dropkicks connects and Hodge puts Mask’s shoulders to the mat for the three count with an OKLAHOMA SIDE ROLL. The fans are stunned as Mask has zero offense the entire match. (1.0)
