PRO WRESTLING USA POWER HOUR FROM DALLAS, TEXAS
CAN-AM TELEVISION TITLE TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINALS [/b]BRACKET A MATCH 1 - BUDDY ROGERS D. CURT HENNIG The tournament begins with these two blonde bombers duking it out. Rogers prevailed here and used two atomic drops to setup for the FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE in a surprisingly short match.
BRACKET B MATCH 1 - HARLEY RACE D. NIKOLAI VOLKOFF Plenty of muscle in this match as these burly brawlers let it fly. Race’s experience in big matches was the difference as he locked in the Indian Death Lock for over a full minute. Volkoff was weakened enough for Race to launch a PILEDRIVER for the pin.
BILL APTER’S HOT SEAT WITH CHAMPION TED DIBIASE Dibiase led off boasting on how much money he already has and how much more $$ he will get with his win over the Macho Man at FIREWORKS SUMMER CLASH. Dibiase also spoke about how much his schedule has ramped up, leaving him little free time but has thought of a way to manage it. He said he was speaking to a former champion who recently lost income from losing a title: Bobo Brazil. Dibiase mentioned a solution where he can free up his schedule and help Brazil. From this day forward, Brazil is now my personal chauffeur and valet! Apter was puzzled as he said he just spoke with Brazil and he did not mention this. Dibiase said of course not, but now he does not have to worry about anything as he will have new clothes, steady income and only should worry about his new job as Dibiase will direct him when, where and who to wrestle: HAHAHAHAHA!
Brazil raced on the set and said that the only extra income is when he takes the title from Dibiase as there is no agreement. Brazil also mentioned that since he was the first champion he is in line for a title shot which Commissioner/Matchmaker Gorilla Monsoon has assured! Now Brazil will tell Ted Dibiase when, where and who to wrestle! An irate Dibiase turned red and yelled at Apter for “setting him up.”
GREG VALENTINE D. SCOTT CASEY A rematch from the FIREWORKS SUMMER CLASH where Casey was trying to avenge a countout loss to the Hammer. Just like their Chicago match, the action spilled to the floor where Casey pounded the Hammer into the ringside railings. Casey hooked in two BULLDOGS but could not hold down Valentine. Casey moved to a twisting arm bar which Hammer reversed and landed several falling hammers on the prone Cowboy. A FIGURE FOUR ended the broadcast.
NON-TELEVISED MATCHES
MATTHEW CROSS D. MICHAEL ELGIN Cross with an upset win over Elgin reversing a cross-body block from the ropes into a cradle pin.
ROB VAN DAM W - DQ, RON HUTCHINSON Van Dam with an easy win over Hutchinson as Van Dam had the veteran in trouble and Hutchinson fought back choking Van Dam with a tag rope. Referee called for the bell when he would not break the hold.
TAG TEAM MAIN EVENT AMERICAN DRAGON AND ADAM COLE D. LOU THESZ AND TIM DONST Fantastic action as these two teams put on a clinic of moves, countermoves along with strikes and counterstrikes. Thesz had Cole in trouble late with two saves off the Thesz press but Cole was able to make the tag. Dragon and Cole wore down Donst with Danielson using CATTLE MUTILATION to notch the win.

PRO WRESTLING USA POWER HOUR FROM PORTLAND, OR
CAN-AM TELEVISION TITLE TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINALS
BRACKET A MATCH 2 - GORGEOUS GEORGE D. BRUISER BRODY Even bout until George used a ropes-assisted FIGURE FOUR to trap Bruiser. A small package using the tights advances George to the Semis. Brody kicked the ropes and chased George and Cheri to the back. Luckily for the Gorgeous One, his partner Pampero Firpo cutoff Brody. A growling staredown between the two ended the segment before the commercial.
BRACKET B MATCH 2 - RANDY SAVAGE D. BRUTUS BEEFCAKE Savage was all over Brutus from the bell and used the flying ax handle to the floor to scramble Beefcake’s senses. A piledriver, vaulting neck-snap and a knee drop pinned the dizzy Beefer.
PAMPERO FIRPO D. THE DESTROYER Firpo was fired up calling out Bruiser Brody’s name during ring introductions. Firpo pummeled the masked man and slapped on EL GARFIO a couple of times. A running body slam after an extensive bear hug got the win for Firpo.
ROCK RIDDLE D. HACKSAW DUGGAN Huge upset here as Duggan mauled Riddle early but a ringside visitor called out Duggan turning the tide for Riddle. The visitor was the monster King Kong Bundy in full living color!! Duggan argued with Bundy telling him to take a hike, but Riddle used a low blow leaving Duggan fair game for a quick cradle. Duggan ran after Bundy but Kong had walked off before the match was over. Mission accomplished for the big man. Broadcast wound up with a puzzled Duggan looking for Bundy.

LADIES CHAMPION SHANN-RA D. MALIA HOSAKA Action packed ladies match but the champion controlled the match using a Snap Snare and the HUNTRESS CLAW to retain her title.

Dragon retaliated but cost Cole the DQ decision.

Television Title Tournament Finals at the New Jersey Meadowlands Semifinal A - Buddy Rogers d. Gorgeous George Rogers took some early punishment but turned the tide with a dropkick which hit George right on the button for the pinfall.
Semifinal B - Harley Race d. Randy Savage, split decision. The first judges decision in the tournament as both men had chances to advance. A great match which had Race in the slight advantage at the bell. Gary Michael Cappetta announced a split decision with Senior Official Morgan Dollar indicating Race in a close call with Gorilla Monsoon in favor of Savage but the WGN onsite rep favored Race mainly due to his advantage at the end. Unpopular but not a totally controversial decision.
Finals - Winner Take All: Buddy Rogers TV time limit with Harley Race. Race’s semifinal decision took some steam out of him along with much of the broadcast time but Race was all over the Nature Boy from the bell. A mid-ring collision sent the referee through the ropes but Race was able to recover and clamp in the Indian Death Lock. Twenty seconds or so later, Cappetta announced 1 minute remains in the broadcast but Rogers held on. Race was irate that he did not get enough time for the match.
These two will have a rematch to settle this and open the next Saturday Night Special from Long Beach (CA) Arena. More matches for this prime-time special will get announced here soon.
NON-TELEVISED BOUTS The debut of Jersey Force (DDP & King Kong Bundy) overwhelm Ron Hutchinson and the Jersey Devil (Mr. X). A big splash and a bearhug on the Devil sealed the win.
Bobo Brazil, W-DQ over Champion Ted Dibiase. A true grudge match as the first champion Bobo Brazil tore into Dibiase using the COCO BUTT to bust him open. The crowd sensed a title change but Dibiase tossed the referee through the ropes and grabbing his title belt, then high-tailing it to the back. Ringsiders heard Dibiase proclaim if the officials do not enforce the rules, he will. Unsure what that meant but am sure Dibiase was not impressed with the COCO BUTT as an offensive weapon.
PURIST CHALLENGE Lou Thesz d. American Dragon Bryan Danielson Another grudge match topped the non-televised portion of the card. Thesz used a series of Dropkicks to pin Danielson after wearing him down with wrist locks and a set of GRECO ROMAN BACKDROPS.
NOTES: Next up is the Saturday Night Special, this prime time event will emanate from California’s Long Beach Arena. Watch for the full lineup in this space but already signed is the opening match for the Television Title: Buddy Rogers vs. Harley Race and a rematch for Bobo Brazil who will challenge again for Ted Dibiase’s All World Championship!
