I really like the PLAAY games, but I don't have time for them and filsinger so I stuck with filsinger. True. I've just spent two years playing a season in Soccer Blast and haven't touched my LWF fed in that time.

I had blast for a while. It's pretty tough to do a season. It's tough for any of the plaay games (my favorite is red, white & blue racing). For soccer I enjoy dice United.

No worries mate. Unfortunately it didn’t catch on with my son. It’s still in the cupboard but I keep meaning to play it. Time constraints always in the way. It’s a shame there are not many upsets, I like that football even though unlikely can always spring one. But it does still look good and I enjoy following Keith’s streams on YouTube when he showcases the game

Statswise, Everton should have demolished them, but Graeme Sharp missed a penalty then scored from an offside position. Six minutes from time, John Aldridge converted a penalty and United won 1-0, as they did in real life!

Love that little upset there. Unbelievable to see some teams have fallen since then. Oxford are nowhere now. I remember that Everton side of the mid 80s. I think if not for Heysel and the Euro ban they were good enough to win the European Cup. It's making me really want to dig the game out and learn it. My team, Man Utd, had a strange season that year. Incredible start and miles ahead around november/december but then a terrible second half of the season faded to 4th. I think that was the season that he may of finally ended the board's patience. They didn't need a lot else to give him the push and when United started pretty poorly in 86-87 that was it for him. Blessing in disguise as we all know what happened under Fergie.
Am tempted to run all the United games and score generate the rest. Maybe play out the really big matches. I know Robbo was injured for much of the season. Might be nice to run it all with him fully fit. Kind of a what if scenario. As I am sure if he stayed fit we may not of faded so badly.
There's so much good about this season. As a london based United fan I didn't feel animosity towards Liverpool or Everton. In fact I loved their sides and it felt really special to beat them. Spurs had a great team too with Hoddle and I think even West Ham were in the title mix with McAvennie and Cottee banging in the goals. I always admired Notts Forest too. Cloughie an absolute legend and always overachieving. Football just ain't like it used to be. Although of course the hooliganism was terrible at the time. That was a dark point of the era

That was a dark point of the era A few teams (Coventry City, Oxford United, Wimbledon) qualified for Europe but didn't compete due to the ban and are unlikely to ever see those days again. And I also think Liverpool would have added a few more European Cups too in that period. Manchester United have done well in my replay; 2nd place with a game to go. I replayed West Ham United v Ipswich Town today. Despite being relegated in real life, Town over-achieved in my replay and were 3-1 up at half time. However, a Frank McAvennie hat trick in the second half helped The Hammers to a 5-3 win.

Some great info there. Love that Ipswich-West Ham game. Sounds like a real epic. The Hammers had a great team back then but sadly within a few a seasons were relegated. Amazing how quick things can change. That Euro ban had a dramatic effect. English clubs were so, so dominant in Europe late 70s through to mid 80s but when we came back it was a long, long time till we got back in the swing of things.
Would love to hear how you replay season ends. With of course specific interest in how United finished up. I'll take 2nd though. A two position improvement on reality. In fact I'd happily take 2nd in the modern day reality. Already the glory days of Fergie seem a very long time ago. I hope it's not going to be another 26 year wait for a league title like before!!!

Manchester United ended their campaign with a 2-1 loss at Watford but still finished 2nd. Watford themselves overachieved, finishing 3rd and beating Chelsea 7-0 in their last game! As a Liverpool fan, I'm nervous about next season. They've sold a few players and bought some unknown quantities. Can they still compete with Manchester City?

Unfortunately I think City are just getting stronger all the time. Last thing we all needed was Haaland joining them. Although United are great rivals of Liverpool I don't begrudge them their recent success. Nobody came in with an open cheque book and gave it to Klopp. Same with United all these years. We spend a lot but it's our own money. I just cannot respect the success of the likes of Chelsea, Man City and Paris SG (Newcastle probably soon to join them in being ultra succesful). I'm still pretty bitter towards Blackburn all those years ago. Jack Walker literally bought them their championship and I suspect was very instrumental in Shearer never going to United where he could of enjoyed phenomenal success.
Anyway slight off topic. Great end to the season. Pleased Watford did well. I think late 80s they were on the way down but they had a very decent side in the first half of the 80s
