I enjoyed Face to the Mat from Plaay so I decided to give another one of their games Soccer Blast a shot. So essentially you record the game minute by minute. You roll off of a main chart and the action evolves from there. It flows really well once you've played a game or two. It does a really great job of capturing the feeling of soccer. You can get moments in the match with little action, you get the excitement of someone breaking loose and getting a shot on the goal. Goals feel devastating in this game as well. This game is also very numbers light. Players are rated with attributes, symbols and have a certain rating for shots and assists. Goalies are likewise rated on the situations they might face. It takes about 45 minutes right now but I think as I play more that will get cut to more like 30 minutes.
The only bummer is you have to buy a game and then a season for it. I chose the 2015 MLS season. So far I've played 4 games and this is what the results have been:
LA Galaxy: 1 Chicago: 0 Montreal: 2 DC United: 1 Philadelphia: 1 Colorado: 1 Vancouver: 4 Toronto: 1
The Vancouver/Toronto game was the most interesting. Toronto actually had some really strong attacks and shots on goal but the Vancouver goalie just made the key saves when he needed to. Likewise for Toronto, if it could go wrong it did. Vancouver scored off of 2 counterattacks that can happen on the chart.
Has anyone else played this?

I live in the UK and have never heard of this game but I'm always on the lookout to collect football (soccer) games.
Is the English Premiership available?

This game could be worth purchasing as it's made for solitaire play. I've another game called "Kick Off" which is very simple to play but it's 2-player and there's no form rating.
I just hope Leicester City's stats aren't overloaded because what they did really was a miracle. Look how badly they're doing now. And that's their norm.

I'm not sure on that. Even if they are really good the charts provide some variation. Take the Montreal/DC game. Montreal didn't have good strikers on the field but the referee became hostile towards DC and they got two breakways off the referee chart that turned into goals. The Toronto/Vancouver game was likewise crazy. Vancouver had a better team on the field but anything that could go wrong for Toronto did and the Vancouver goalie made some big saves.

The more you tell me about this game, the more I want it! Sounds very interesting and a lot of fun for folk like me who love their soccer.

They also have some forums on their website and people post results on there if you want to check out a larger sample size.

That looks like a pretty cool game, I've looked for games like that in the past. I bought a Soccer dice game from Chalk Talk many years ago that is in a cool mini duffle bag, but the game is very simple...

Like I said the downside to this is you have to buy a set as well as the game. The game only has 2 sample teams. I felt this game is like COTG in that the rules are fairly simple but gives you a wide variety of outcome.

Looks like my next investment, though maybe I should hold off till the 2017 season of the English Premiership is released.
