Unfortunately I think City are just getting stronger all the time. Last thing we all needed was Haaland joining them. Although United are great rivals of Liverpool I don't begrudge them their recent success. Nobody came in with an open cheque book and gave it to Klopp. Same with United all these years. We spend a lot but it's our own money. I just cannot respect the success of the likes of Chelsea, Man City and Paris SG (Newcastle probably soon to join them in being ultra succesful). I'm still pretty bitter towards Blackburn all those years ago. Jack Walker literally bought them their championship and I suspect was very instrumental in Shearer never going to United where he could of enjoyed phenomenal success. Anyway slight off topic. Great end to the season. Pleased Watford did well. I think late 80s they were on the way down but they had a very decent side in the first half of the 80s I always wondered why Blackburn Rovers were great for just two seasons. So were Newcastle United back then too. As a Liverpool fan, I was happy with the Community Shield result. A win over Manchester City is always a good win. I just hope this season isn't a carbon copy of last. It's practically the same teams vying for the title and scrapping to avoid relegation over and over. Soccer Blast creators have just released last season's cards if you're interested. I'm thinking about buying them. You get every player that started a match, all 20 teams.

After owning Soccer Blast for a little over a year I finally got round to learning and playing the game. My hand was forced but I'm glad it was. Got involved in community project to recreate the 1966 World Cup using a member created card set. Very impressive. Flows well. I can see how it is difficult for a lower team to get a result against the big guns but not impossible. For what it's worth I was tasked with recreating Group 2 and got the following results, West Germany 1-1 Switzerland, Argentina 1-0 Spain, Spain 3-0 Switzerland, Argentina 0-2 West Germany, Argentina 0-0 Switzerland, West Germany 6-2 Spain. So West Germany after a shaky first game wins the group with relative ease whilst Argentina sneak through unimpressively in second. Top scorer in the group Helmut Haller 4 goals (inc hat-trick vs Spain)
Other groups have been played by other members but I was then allocated Hungary-Russia in the 1/4 final. Russia winning that 3-1. We was then allocated one half of the semi finals each. I was handed England v Portugal for the second half. England in a winning position of 1-0 via Geoff Hurst. I thought they would canter as Roger Hunt added a second in 68th minute. Then a minute later Jack Charlton inexplicably gets himself sent off. That triggers wave afer wave of pressure. England were effectively two men down with Nobby Stiles playing on injured (no subs back in 1966!). Augusto got the 2 goals to equalise. However they couldn't add a third and so it went to extra time. Both teams were dead on their feet at this point and very little happened. Match ended 2-2. No penalty shoot outs back in 1966 so it went down to a coin toss which broke Wembley hearts. Portugal made it to the final where they'll play West Germany. So nearly a repeat of the real thing. Steve Tower is set to play the final on his AFR YouTube channel at end of the month
