Looking back at everyone's choices, nobody (Including myself) "wanted" to see Baby Driver, which ended up being the best-reviewed Summer movie on Rotten Tomatoes so far! Just goes to show you the difference between "critics" & "consumers" I guess... I loved Baby Driver!! Such a good movie, killer soundtrack, and you can never go wrong with Kevin Spacey!

A few days ago I saw Baby Driver. It is really good, but not like Pulp Fiction or Heat as some critics are trying to compare it to.

I would say it's because Hollywood doesn't take as many chances on movies as it used to. It's all sequels, remakes, and movies based on existing properties. Also, TV is so much better than it was 25 years ago and the movies have a hard time competing with it.

I think the struggling hollywood box offices and the declining TV ratings have more to do with the continued fragmentation of entertainment and new media platforms than anything else.
When it comes to movies, I just dont think as many people are willing to pay bloated prices to go out and see movies, when they can wait a little while and watch them at home on awesome home entertainment systems where they wont be bothered by other people and pay a fraction of the price.
For TV, I think many people consume entertainment differently and when it comes to late night shows and award shows, more people are satisfied with reading recaps and watching highlights on youtube the next day and aren't as compelled to watch live.

Solid points. the first time in 25 years a movie wasn't released in over 1,000 screens over Labor Day.Good news is we have some big movies coming out this Fall - Stephen Kings IT and Star Wars are two I'm sure will be huge hits.
