Big win by Melissa over Knight....lots of fun matches as usual. Thanks Troy. Your feedback is always appreciated. The win by Melissa was big as Knight likely represents her toughest challenger.

The EWA show was great especially the opener with Madison Eagles surviving a tough challenge from Leva Bates. Good to see Cheerleader Melissa retain the EWA title over Saraya Knight but as noted Knight will be after a rematch. Queens of Winning vs. Canadian Ninjas was a fun battle as was Mercedes Martinez vs. Athena. I'm looking forward to Mercedes getting that title shot against Melissa.

Card 10 – Ontario Wresting Network – Pride of Fight presents “Declaration of Violence” Royal Canadian Legion 90, Brantford, Ontario
“No Fear” Mike Mondo v. Sweet ‘n’ Sour Larry Sweeney In a total shocker, Sweeney catches Mondo with an opening Butterfly Suplex and that is it. (Snake Eyes) D
Shane Hollister v. Pinkie Sanchez This one was action packed from start to finish with an incredible pace from both competitors. Hollister had the match won after a BUZZSAW KICK but Sami Callihan was able to interfere and save Sanchez from defeat. Sanchez was not able to capitalized however, even after a BURNING SINCKLEFRITZ and Hollister came back ending the match with back to back BUZZSAW KICKS. After the bell, Philly’s Most Wanted hit the ring and attack Sanchez. This brings out the balance of the DUF along with A.R. Fox and we have an eight man brawl. Sanchez is left battered but still has enough issue a challenge to Hollister for the next card. 2.5
Adam Cole w/Mia Yim v. Robert Anthony Things started out evenly but Cole was able to get the best of an exchange outside and take control of the action. Cole got caught on the top and tossed to the mat which brought the fans out of their seats but Anthony was not able to capitalize with a TACO PIZZA. Anthony battered Cole in and of the ring but was eventually caught on the top of the corner himself and knocked to the mat. Cole went on the offensive and connected with a Corona Kick to claim the win. 2.5
Brodie Lee v. Delirious Lee came out strong and took full advantage of his size from the opening bell. Delirious was able to counter out of a gutwrench powerbomb but he could not escape a package piledriver. Lee whipped him hard into the steps and then planted Delirious with a black hole slam in the middle of the ring. A pair of BIG BOOTS ended. 1.0
DUF (ACDC (Arik Cannon & Darin Corbin) & Sami Callihan) v. A.R. Fox & Philly’s Most Wanted (Joker & BLK Jeez) Fox and the Most Wanted were focused from the outset making sure that Darin Corbin could not tag out. Fox lit up ringside with a suicide senton and nearly got the win with Lo Mein Pain. Corbin eventually got the tag to Callihan who ran into a determined Joker who punished Calliahan with his offense including two Magnitude Bombs before Fox finished off Callihan with a 450 SPLASH in a crowd pleasing finish. 2.0
Danny Havoc v. “Wrestling’s Worst Nightmare” Kevin Steen Another hard hitting contest between these two as expected. Havoc looked impressive until Steen planted him with a crazy looking sleeperhold suplex. Havoc was in some serious trouble but managed to avoid a deathjump senton leading to a big near fall for Havoc. Steen survived a GENERAL ORDER 24 and then the two cracked heads in the corner knocking both men loopy. Steen recovered first and ended it immediately with a F-CINQ. 2.5
Pride of Fight Tag Team Title Match - Suicide Kings (Drake Younger & Eddie Kingston) [ch] v. Briscoe Brothers (Mark Briscoe & Jay Briscoe) The Briscoe managed to cut of Younger off from this corner early on and brutalized Younger in and out of the ring including a wicked chair shot from Mark Briscoe that left Young a bloody mess. Kingston tagged in and scored a near fall on Mark Briscoe with a BACKFIST TO THE FUTURE but soon Jay Briscoe tagged into the match and Kingston was in trouble. A SPIKE JAY BRISCOE almost ended and the action return to the floor where Kingston put Mark Briscoe through a ringside table with a choke slam earning a rare disqualification in Pride of Fight. The fans were chanting as both Kingston and Briscoe were helped to their feet by their partners. 2.0
Pride of Fight Title – DJ Hyde [ch] v. Arik Royal There was nothing scientific about this one. Royal set the pace with a near fall in the opening moment of the contest following an atomic drop/backbreaker combo. The ring could not contain the battle and both men took turns using chunks of the broken ringside table on each other pushing the official to a brink of a disqualification. Big near fall for the champion after a Summoning Lariat but Royal managed to kick out at the last second. Hyde continued to control and mounted the corner to finish Royal who managed to knock the ropes sending Hyde crashing through a ringside table. The fans were out of their seats as Royal rolled Hyde back under the ropes, hooked the leg and claimed the title. 2.5
Notes: A new champion is at the top of Pride of Fight as Arik Royal bested DJ Hyde in a short, but violent main event to capture the gold much to the delight of the fans in attendance. Hyde has petitioned for an immediate rematch and will get that opportunity at the next POF event (card 13) in what should be another intense night of action. Also looking for a rematch will be the Briscoe Brothers who really took it the Tag Team Champions Suicide Kings tonight but left without the titles. David Marquez has promised to meet with the two sides once they are checked out by medical staff to negotiate the terms of their rematch. Marquez was already busy earlier in the night signing a rematch between Adam Cole and Robert Anthony for the next POF event this time under best of three falls rules. In addition, Marquez was seen meeting with promotors in what is being described a roster meeting so we can expect to see some new faces in territory in the near future, perhaps maybe as early as the next card. For the time being, lets look at the current rankings
Pride of Fight Champion: Arik Royal 1. Rhino 2. DJ Hyde 3. Kevin Steen 4. Brodie Lee 5. Danny Havoc 6. Adam Cole 7. Robert Anthony 8. Sami Callihan 9. Delirious 10. A.R. Fox Pride of Fight Tag Team Champions: Suicide Kings 1. SCUM 2. Philly’s Most Wanted 3. Briscoe Brothers 4. Osirian Portal 5. ACDC
Up next, Pride of Wrestling will determine their first champion over a three card event starting on Card 11 from the Franklin Horner Community Centre. The event will be a 24 man tournament with the following competitors signed to appear in the opening rounds:
• Shelton Benjamin • Mike Bennett • Claudio Castagnoli • Adam Cole • Bryan Danielson • Juan Francisco De Coronado • Eddie Edwards • Michael Elgin • Fire Ant • Johnny Gargano • El Generico • Green Ant • Charlie Haas • Homicide • Icarus • Jigsaw • Jay Lethal • Kyle O’Reilly • Mike Quackenbush • Davey Richards • Soldier Ant • Roderick Strong • Chuck Taylor • Rhett Titus

Oh, snap! Really did not think Royal would beat Hyde for the belt... Superb resiliency displayed by the new champion...
Looking forward to the PoW title tourney... Homicide should be a favorite to win it all if he can avoid being DQ'd... But, I'd love to see Adam Cole (Bay-Bay!) bring home the gold...
Great stuff, as always!

Just when I was settling in for DJ Hyde title reign he drops the strap to Arik Royal. Those dice certainly know how to wreak havoc. Here's wishing a nice title reign for Royal. The Suicide Kings were fortunate to survive Dem Boys in defending that tag titles with a DQ loss. Good show overall and I look forward to that PoW title tournament.

Card 11 – Ontario Wresting Network – Pride of Wrestling presents “POW 3 Gold Rush Night One” – Franklin Horner Community Centre, Toronto
Pride of Wrestling Gold Rush Tournament “American Wolf” Davey Richards v. “The Prodigy” Mike Bennet w/Maria and Brutal Bob If anyone thought that Richards was in for an easy opening round, they were in for a surprize as Bennett dominated the early action leading up to near fall after a PHOTO FINISH. Richards was finally able to make a comeback and go to work including kicked to death and Alarm Clocks. Bennet narrowly escaped being counted out and then just made the ropes when the both Brutal Bob and Maria could not distract the referee or Richards when Bennett was trapped in a ANKLE LOCK. Bennett was not finished and battled back with his power advantage. Both men traded tosses off the ropes before Richards made a strong comeback of his own. Brutal Bob interfered when Richards had Bennett trapped in a cloverleaf which would have likely ended the match. The referee sent Bob to the back to a huge ovation from ringside as Richards mounted the corner for a match ending deathjump but Bennett turned the leap into a powerslam to score the huge upset win. 5.0
“Unbreakable” Michael Elgin w/Truth Martini v. Bryan Danielson This was a rematch from card 05 when Elgin dominated Danielson but Danielson had other plans tonight with an aggressive start to the match including a diving headbutt. The action when outside and Danielson raged cracking Elgin with a chair across the back. Martini demanded the disqualification but the match continued. They went back to the floor and Martini took matters into his own hands cracking Danielson with the Book of Truth and this time the referee calls for the disqualification. Elgin lays out Danielson post match with a SPINNING SIT-OUT POWERBOMB in the middle of the ring. 1.0
Jay Lethal v. Homicide Some great speed from Lethal early on allows him to avoid a Tope con Hilo and take control of the action with a running suplex and a figure four leglock. Homicide comes back with a lariat at crushes Lethal and a cobra clutch suplex. After a brawl on the floor, Homicide attacks with a fork and the referee quickly calls for the disqualification. Homicide is out and the fans are not pleased back to back disqualification finishes. 1.0
The Colony (Fire Ant & Green Ant) v. Team Fist (Chuck Taylor & Johnny Gargano) Both sides set an incredible pace early on this one. Fire Ant gets cut off for a stretch but soon makes a comeback nearly putting away Taylor with a BEACH BREAK. The action goes back and forth from that point until the Colony take their offense to the next level. Taylor saves Gargano from a Chikara Special by Green Ant and Gargano barely makes the ropes to survive a CLOVERLEAF. Fire Ant tags in and finishes Gargano with a BEACH BREAK. 2.0
Pride of Wrestling Gold Rush Tournament Continues
Claudio Castagnoli v. Rhett Titus This one ended quickly as Castagnoli had just too many skills for Titus earning the submission with an Inverted Chikara Special. D
Mike Quackenbush v. Kyle O’Reilly O’Reilly and Quackenbush put on a mat clinic early on until O’Reilly realised he would not win a mat based match and moved to the power moves including a snap suplex. Quackenbush kicked out of a pair of pin attempts before O’Reilly mounted the corner but Quackenbush caught him and tossed O’Reilly to the mat earning a solid pop. Two QUACKENDRIVER II followed and Quackenbush picked up the three count. 2.0
Soldier Ant v. Jigsaw These two know each other well and so the action was tight from the outset and went back and forth. Each competitor had the advantage for a stretch including Ant hitting a TKO for a big near fall. Controversy occurred when a deathjump smash from Ant took out the referee (11 moves!) during which time Jigsaw hit back to back JIG ‘N’ TONICS for what should have been the victory. The referee rejoined the action and Jigsaw hit his finisher for a third time to advance to the next round of the tournament. 3.0
Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team (Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas) v. El Generico & Adam Cole The makeshift pairing of Generico and Cole really had no business being in the ring with an experience duo like Wrestling’s Greatest who dominated the action from the opening T-Bone Suplex to Cole to the finishing LEAP OF FAITH to Generico. Fans were disappointed with the result. D
Notes: The first of three nights of action to determine the first Pride of Wrestling Champion had it share of upsets and exciting action. Fans are already buzzing about the second round encounter between Mike Quackenbush & Jigsaw but before they meet, they have been booked into a tag team encounter as partners on the next card against the unlikely pairing of Claudio Castagnoli and Kyle O’Reilly.

Another great night of OWN action and a surprise show stealer with Mike Bennett scoring an upset win over Davey Richards in the opener. I loved that finish. I am enjoying the Gold Rush tournament and it was cool to see Jigsaw, Claudio Castagnoli and Mike Quackenbush advance. That main event should have been much better but it looks like the tag team experience of WGTT was the deciding factor. Some great action underneath as well especially that big win by The Colony over Team Fist.

Card 12 – Ontario Wresting Network – Pride of Wrestling presents “POW 4 Gold Rush Night Two” – Franklin Horner Community Centre, Toronto
El Generico v. Johnny Gargano The fans were chanting early on and throughout this match as Generico took control of the bout midway through with an exploder suplex in the turnbuckles and never looked back. Gargano was able to battle out of a BRAINBUSTAAAAHHH!!! but Genercio continued to press the attack in and out of the ring finally hitting his finisher in the corner for the fan thrilling finish. 1.0
“Die Hard” Eddie Edwards v. Chuck Taylor Taylor had a strong start nailing back to back jumping big boots but could not get Edwards into a pinning position. The pace picked up and both men went into a series of counters lasting several moves and ended with Edwards landing back to back lariats that looked awesome. Edwards followed up with a DIE HARD for two and second DIE HARD for the win. 1.5
Fire Ant v. Charlie Haas Haas used his power early on to control his much faster opponent until Ant finally broke through and nearly stole the win with a reverse TKO for a huge near fall. Haas quickly stepped up his game including a particularly vicious attack on the floor running Ant back first into the ring post. This lead to Haas locking in HAAS OF PAIN for the win. 1.5
Quacksaw (Jigsaw & Mike Quackenbush) v. Kyle O’Reilly & Claudio Castagnoli This one was epic. Quacksaw managed to cut off Castagnoli from his corner for a significant stretch and Quackenbush nearly put him away with a QUACKENDRIVER II but the Swiss Superman found away to kick out and the action continued. O’Reilly was left to carry the load for his team and he responded in a big way with a solid mat attack against both of his opponents evening out the match. Castagnoli was rested enough to nearly end with a RICOLA BOMB to Jigsaw but Quackenbush made the save and the action continued. Things went back and forth until Castagnoli was able to rough up Quackenbush at ringside and then end the match with a Roaring European Uppercut. 5.0
Roderick Strong w/Truth Martini v. Juan Francisco De Coronado De Coronado continued to impress taking the fight to Strong for most of the first half of the contest. A springboard crossbody gets a near fall before Strong battles back with backbreakers and a SICK KICK that gets his own near fall. De Coronado comes back but Strong whips him into the ringside table before crushing De Coronado with back to back to back tombstone piledrivers. Strong uses a STRONG HOLD to get the submission. 2.5
Shelton Benjamin v. Green Ant Ant thrilled the fans and turned some heads showing the skills to go move for move with his opponent but he never had Benjamin on the defensive long enough to get a near fall or submission attempt. Benjamin really turned things around with a countering clothesline out of the corner and Ant was never really able to recover falling to back to back PAY DIRTS. 1.5
Adam Cole v. Icarus Icarus pressed the advantage from the outset picking up a near fall with a BLU-RAY. Cole drew on the support of the fans and mounted his comeback with impressive counter wrestling. Icarus whipped Cole into the ringside table and then used the WINGS OF ICARUS but could not get the win. Back to the floor and Cole countered a charge backdropping Icarus through the ringside table. The fans loved it but the referee made he decision to disqualify Cole sending Icarus onto the next round. 2.0
“American Wolf” Davey Richards & Jay Lethal v. “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett w/Maria and Brutal Bob & “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin w/Truth Martini Elgin’s power is on full display early on against Lethal but Lethal is able to counter a clothesline in the corner with one of his own sending both men to the mat. Both men regain the feet at the same time but Lethal strikes with a Lethal Combination. Richards tags in and a suicide dive takes out Elgin and Martini bring the fans to their feet. Moments later, Elgin converts a deathjump cross body to a power slam for a huge near fall. Bennett keeps on Elgin with a BOX OFFICE nearly ending the match. Richards is some serious trouble and cannot get to his corner for the tag as Bennett punishes him in and out of the ring. Elgin gets back in with a suplex into a side slam, deadlift powerbomb and a SPINNING SIT-OUT POWERBOMB for the win. 2.0
Notes: With the opening round completed, the second round matches are set and will take place at Night Three of Gold Rush (Card 14). The semi-finals and final three way match title match will also take place on that night along with a special ten man tag team attraction. Up next, Pride of Fight will be back in action when they present “Gates of Greatness” from the Great Hall in Toronto with the following bouts signed:
• The Hobo will make his debut as he steps into the ring with Drew Gulak in what promises to be an interesting contrast of styles • Greg Excellent will challenge “Sweet “N” Sour Larry Sweeney • In a special tag team challenge contest, Pinkie Sanchez & Sami Callihan battled A.R.Fox & Shane Hollister • Philly’s Most Wanted will be in tag team action against ACDC • No disqualification, no counto-outs – Kevin Steen v. Danny Havoc • In a two out of three falls challenge, Adam Cole meets Robert Anthony • Pride of Fight Tag Team Titles – Suicide Kings defend against Briscoe Brothers • Pride of Fight Champion Arik Royal defends against former champion DJ Hyde
