Card 13 – Ontario Wresting Network – Pride of Fight presents “Gates of Greatness” The Great Hall, Toronto, Ontario
Philly’s Most Wanted (BLK Jeez & Joker) v. ACDC (Arik Cannon & Darin Corbin)
ACDC come out really strong and take over the action from the opening bell much to the displeasure of the fans. Cannon is particularly dominating as he nailed Jeez with two TOTAL ANARCHY but could not get the win. Philly’s Most Wanted mount an impressive comeback but Jeez cannot put away Corbin after a BLK JEEZ WALKS. ACDC soon regain control and dominate the last half of the action pinning Jeez with another TOTAL ANARCHY while Corbin cuts off Joker from making the save. 2.5
Greg Excellent v. “Sweet ‘N’ Sour” Larry Sweeney
Sweeney gets on the mic and the fans just hate him. Excellent has the support of ringside but struggles early on with Sweeney hitting a piledriver that sets up a 12 LARGE ELBOW DROP. Excellent eventually gets back into the action after a brawl on the floor. Excellent hits not one but three Rick Rolls that do some serious damage to Sweeney. They brawl all over ringside. Sweeney cracks Excellent with a chair busting him open but cannot get the win after a second 12 LARGE ELBOW DROP. Excellent powers his way back into control despite his significant blood loss. They go back to the floor where Sweeney rams a chair into Excellent’s midsection and then finishes him with another 12 LARGE ELBOW DROP. Huge heat for Sweeney as he makes his way to the back. 3.5
Drew Gulak v. The Hobo
Gulak gets on the mic and runs down the locker room of Pride of Fight telling them he will clean up this locker room just like he has cleaned up every locker room he has ever been part of. The Hobo makes his debut and gets a monster pop as he comes to the ring. Gulak control from the outset but Hobo breaks out with a cobra clutch suplex that gets the fans out of their seat. Perhaps the move shocks Gulak because he is not messing around after that and gets the submission win with a ankle lock submission. 1.0
No Disqualification/No Count-Outs - Danny Havoc v. Kevin Steen
Many felt that Steen may have made a mistake when he agreed to face Havoc in a match essentially without rules but they could not have been more wrong. Steen came to fight and thrashed Havoc in and out of the ring. Twice Havoc kicked out after an F-CINQ twice and Steen just turned up the intensity from that point running Havoc into the ring post back first and then suplexing him onto a ladder. A third F-CINQ finished Havoc (snake eyes!). Jimmy Jacobs and Steve Corino hit the ring to celebrate with Steen and they get some more shots in on Havoc drawing huge heat. Drake Younger and Eddie Kingston show up to break things up before Havoc is battered any more. Havoc is able to grab the mic and issue a challenge to face SCUM in a steel cage match! 1.0
Best of Three Falls – Adam Cole w/Mia Yim v. Robert Anthony
The pace is off the charts as both men push the offense and throw caution to the wind despite this being a best of three falls match. The action flies in and out of the ring with counter after counter. Neither man can break through until Cole connects with a Corona Kick which sets up back to back PANAMA SUNRISES giving the first fall to Cole. The second fall gets underway with Cole going to the top in an effort to finish things but Anthony tosses him to the mat much to the pleasure of ringside. However, Anthony cannot take advantage and Cole regains control for the balance of the fall. Anthony kicks out after a PANAMA SUNRISE but Cole is just too good on this night and claims the win in two straight falls with another PANAMA SUNRISE. 2.0
Pinkie Sanchez & Sami Callihan v. Shane Hollister & A.R. Fox
Hollister and Sanchez tear it up from the bell. Sanchez tries to bite Hollister who counters with a modified Ace Crusher which sets up a BUZZSAW KICK for the shocking victory (snake eyes!). Callihan is not impressed and attacks Fox and Hollister with a chair after the match. Fox is trapped in a STETCH MUFFLER by Calliahan while Sanchez kills Hollister with a BURNING SNICKLEFRITZ onto a chair!!!. Hollister is removed on a stretcher. D
Pride of Fight Tag Team Title Match – Suicide Kings (Drake Younger & Eddie Kingston) [ch] v. Briscoe Brothers (Mark Briscoe & Jay Briscoe)
This was insane from start to finish. Mark Briscoe and Drake Younger both went through a table in the first five minutes and the fans were rocking for the balance of the encounter. Jay Briscoe was cut off for a good stretch of the action but the champions could not find a way to get his shoulder down for the three count before the Briscoe mounted an incredible comeback. Kingston gets trapped in the ring the double teaming comes in non stop waves. DOUBLE FOOTBALL TACKLE for two. SLINGSHOT LARIAT for two. CUT THROAT DRIVER gets another near fall. Kingston is practically out of his feet when the Briscoe Brothers crush him with another DOUBLE FOOTBALL TACKLE. Mark Briscoe and Younger jump into the action and Younger is able to drop an elbow on Jay Briscoe while the referee was distracted before putting Kingston on top of Briscoe for the controversial three count. 4.0
Pride of Fight Title Match – Arik Royal [ch] v. DJ Hyde
The fans expected intensity from these two competitors and they brought it in a big way. The action when back and forth from the bell and neither man back down. They went back and forth, in and out of the ring. It was after a brawl on the floor that Royal nailed To The Last Drop for the second time in the contest and it was enough to give him the victory. 2.0
Notes: A crazy night of action from Toronto. David Marquez was quick to address the internet media after the event confirming that while Danny Havoc escaped without injury in the post match attack by SCUM, Shane Hollister was not so lucky suffering a two card injury. On the issue of Danny Havoc’s post attack challenge, Marquez confirmed that a steel cage match has been signed as the main event of the next Pride of Fight Card with SCUM taking on Suicide Kings. Also on the card, Greg Excellent will get a rematch against Larry Sweeney after a controversial loss to Sweeney tonight. Plus, Adam Cole’s victory tonight impressed the championship committee and they have decided that Cole will be the next contender for the Pride of Fight Title. This decision did not sit well with Kevin Steen and he has promised that it will only be a matter of time before he is the Pride of Fight Champion. Up next, we return to Pride of Wrestling as they present night three of the Gold Rush tournament.
