Superstars in Albany, NY
- Boris Zhukov debuted with a pinfall win over George South
- Cruiserweight Challenge: Brian Christopher upset Jerry Lynn
- Handicap Match, Magnum TA downed Tully Blanchard and JJ Dillon
- Bruiser Brody W, DQ Clinch
- World Champion Lou Thesz breezed past Ivan Koloff
- Last Man Standing, Loser Leaves Superstars: Buddy Rogers edged Harley Race
NOTES: A Match of the Year candidate from Albany saw the exit of Harley Race as Buddy Rogers gained a dramatic victory on his rival. Race began the bout on fire using the PILEDRIVER to bust open Rogers (5-1 tokens). The Nature Boy came back and had Race on the ropes (7-5 tokens) but each man landed on their butts looking for the move to put the other away (9-9 tie from a Race DIVING HEADBUTT!). A mistake by Race on the ropes, left an opening for a Rogers Piledriver winning the match. With the win, Rogers is clearly the next challenger for Thesz's World Title and Race is on the outside looking in from this classic encounter!!
MMA specialist Clinch almost KO'd Brody with an ULTIMATE COMBO early in the match, but Brody punched his way back into it. The slugfest continued with Clinch using excessive punches to call a DQ. These two have already signed for a special Taped Fists Match . . . Thesz breezed by Ivan Koloff here despite the presence of newcomer Zhukov in Ivan's corner. Thesz and Rogers have signed for a title match in Toronto with the Clinch-Brody bout on the undercard. . . Finally, Magnum TA's gambit worked as he gained a measure of revenge against the dastardly Blanchard and Dillon duo. Magnum announced to the crowd that part of the contract of this Handicap Match is he gets a match with Tully where he picks the stipulation. Blanchard was shocked and gave a puzzled, angry look at Dillon. Magnum will announce the stips of this encounter soon.

Wrestling News Bulletin: A recent episode of Champion Wrestler, included video summaries of the recent title pictures and some of the key feuds such Rogers-Race, Magnum TA - Blanchard and Clinch versus Brody. A third segment covered the World Tag-Team Champions and some of the top contenders.
After the series of recaps, Bill Apter returned with an interview segment with the World Champs: Jim Cornette's Midnight Express. Cornette was tired of Lou Thesz getting recognized as the only fighting champion around. He mentioned his team will take on all comers and to prove this he will offer 8 teams a title shot.
After a pause, Apter asked "Eight teams at once?" Cornette shot back "Of course not, only 1 of the 8 teams will get the chance during Mother Cornette's Invitation Tournament. The WHEN is the next card and the WHERE is Mother Cornette's hometown at the basketball arena in Louisville, KY. As this event is invitation only, here are the competitors: The Hennigs, The Armstrongs, The Valiants, Windham & Mulligan, Rock & Rolls, The Russians, Dr.Death & Dibiase along with Magnum TA and Randy Savage. "
Finally, Cornette noted "That due to their sporting nature his Mother has built a special perch for the three of them so they may partake in the viewing of the tournament. His mother has also hired a special photographer and stenographer to document each match thoroughly just to prove our sportsmanship."
Apter looked skeptical (?!?) but Cornette said, "This will prove the Express is an equal opportunity destroyer as eight teams get a chance for a title shot but only one team will get humilated!"
The segment ended displaying the brackets and also the announcement of a bonus match for Louisville: Brian Christopher challenges Cruiserweight Champion Warhawk for the title. Stay tuned at ringside to see who comes out on top!

NOTES: The Midnight Express thought they could take advantage of the tournament setup where the winner would earn a title shot, albeit fatigued. However, father and son took control of the tournament with their longest match against the Rock & Roll. The belts almost switched but all hell broke loose after a pin save from the VEGOMATIC. Windham was DQ'd for using a chair, but the Midnights have not heard the last of this combo. . . Other tournament highlights: Savage and TA looked like a solid team. Magnum used a Belly-To-Belly to knock Dibiase out cold! These teams have signed for a tag-team elimination rematch for an upcoming card. Between this bout and Magnum's upcoming "I Quit" match against Tully Blanchard, the promoter has filled his schedule nicely.
Brian Christopher gained an upset of sorts and won the Cruiserweight title from Warhawk. Can Christopher hold off the steady stream of challengers for this title? Stay tuned at ringiside to see what is next.

Elimination Tag-Team Match: Ted Dibiase and Steve Williams defeated Magnum TA and Randy Savage
World Title Match: Buddy Rogers W, DQ over Champion Lou Thesz
NOTES: The fans erupted when the I QUIT MATCH was announced, but the location is still up for negotiation. . . Magnum was pinned though as Tully Blanchard distracted him during the elimination match with Williams using the BACKDROP DRIVER for the pin. Savage was DQ'd after saving Magnum from an earlier pin . . .Thesz and Rogers had quite the battle but the champion was disqualified for shoving the referee aside after Rogers tangled him up in the ropes. A rematch is signed . . . Finally, Larry Hennig has announced a sabbatical to heal some nagging injuries but has encouraged his son Curt to challenge for the big title. He told his son that he is available in any fashion to help prepare for his run at the title. Curt looked sharp dispatching Hutchison quickly as Hennig worked on the legs and setup his finisher with an extended figure four leglock.
Columbus Ohio is the next stop as the Midnight Express defend against Mulligan and Windham in a rematch from Louisville. Bruiser Brody faces Clinch in a Taped Fist Match to top the bill. Jim Duggan faces Nikolai Volkoff and Cruiserweight Champion Brian Christopher makes his first title defense against Sam Houston to top the undercard.

Sneaky fun win for Tully and nice to see Rogers win the match even if it was by dq. Thanks Troy, I can picture Tully propping his feet against the ropes to get the pin. Rogers did earn a rematch with this victory, but will announce details after the next card. However, we have the network "Saturday Night Special" coming up so that is the likely possibility.

Yeah with heels like Tully, I like to imagine a lot of ropes and tights for leverage or Dillon holding down an opponent's foot/leg.

What better way to celebrate Columbus Day Weekend than in Columbus, OH?
Jerry Lynn pinned George South with a Guillotine Leg Drop
Bug Buster upset Pelvis Pressly with the EXTERMINATOR
Sam Houston pinned Cruiserweight Champ Brian Christopher to win the title after a knee lift and a BULLDOG.
Hacksaw Duggan pinned Nikolai Volkoff with a Tough Guy Clothesline
Rock & Roll Express beat the Russians (Koloff and Zhukov)
World Champions Midnight Express defeated Blackjack Mulligan and Barry Windham. Eaton sat down to pin Windham after a sunset flip attempt but used the ropes for leverage.
Taped Fist Match: Clinch beat Bruiser Brody
NOTES: Clinch won a match right up his alley as the taped fists enhanced his strikes. A Chain match is signed for the next card in Washington, DC to give Brody a match customized for his skills . . . The Midnights squeaked by again, but one has to wonder if luck is truly the residue of design as Cornette's team is always in position for victory . . . Another unexpected title switch for the Cruiserweight title with Houston getting the hot potato. To prove this match was not a fluke, Washington, DC will host a rematch . . . Also slated for DC, Lou Thesz has requested chief referee Morgan Dollar as the third man for a rematch against Buddy Rogers. The Nature Boy eagerly agreed as he was anxious to capture the gold . . . Other matches include Randy Savage facing Ted Dibiase in a No-DQ match while Windham and Mulligan test the Midnights in a best 2-of-3 falls match! A preview on the full lineup is coming soon, but the televised matches include three title matches long with a special ladies match and Magnum TA challenging JJ Dillon. A special announcement is also on hand for the televised portion. The Chain Match and No-DQ encounter are part of the DC-only lineup.
See you in DC for an all-star lineup of Saturday Night Special - Capitol Combat!
