Saturday Night Special Washington, DC
Matches taped for Champion Wrestler weekly broadcast: Warhawk W, DQ Iron Sheik
King Kong Bundy destroyed Claudio Castignoli with the AVALANCHE
Six-Man Grudge: Rock & Roll Express with Jim Duggan steamrolled the Russians when Gibson used the GIBSON LEGLOCK to pin Boris.
Matches broadcast over national network for Saturday Night Special:
Four-corners Ladies Match: Trish Stratus won over Malia Hosaka, Mackenzie and Shann RA Stratus earned all three eliminations with the STRATUSFACTION!
Cruiserweight Champion Sam Houston time limit draw with Brian Christopher
Magnum TA squashed JJ Dillon (much to Tully Blanchard's dismay)
Best-of-three Falls, tag-team title match: Blackjack Mulligan & Barry Windham took 2 of 3 falls over Champions Midnight Express
Champion Lou Thesz pinned Buddy Rogers with GRECO ROMAN BACKDROP with Morgan Dollar as referee.
Other matches: No-DQ: Randy Savage bloodied Ted Dibiase using TWO FLYING ELBOWS to win. Savage lifted Dibiase after landing the first elbow.
Chain Match: Bruiser Brody whipped Clinch. Brody got the pin after tying him to the corner with the chain.
NOTES: Barry Windham and Blackjack won the match but not the titles as Windham pinned Lane with a SWEETWATER SUPLEX but a DQ in one of the falls nullified the title change. The fans catcalled the Midnights when they scurried off with the belts. A ROCKET LAUNCHER in fall one had the challengers on the back pedal but they gutted out a comeback and almost won the belts . . . Thesz turned back the challenge of Rogers as he requested a referee who would not lose control of a match. Thesz thought the referee lost authority in their Toronto match cost him the decision there . . . Outside of their Taped Fist Match in Columbus, Brody has dominated Clinch. Brody barked out a challenge to Lou Thesz as he continued his winning streak here. Brody claims that Thesz has not faced a challenger like him . . . Tully Blanchard signed up his manager to face Magnum TA to soften him up for the upcoming I QUIT STEEL CAGE match. This backfired as Magnum routed the manager and kept an eye on his rival at ringside the entire match . . . Finally a nice rivalry has popped up between Houston and Christopher as they fought back and forth for the full time limit.
MEGA MATCH from New York City is next. Besides the 50-man, 3-ring MEGA MATCH, the I QUIT STEEL CAGE match between Magnum TA and Tully Blanchard is also signed. Superstar Pro Wrestling officials have also guaranteed three title matches to round out the lineup for New York. Stay tuned at ringside for the preview!

Wrestling News Bulletin - MEGA MATCH is next as New York City is the location. The lineup . . .
THE MEGA MATCH: A 50-man, 3 ring battle royal. Two rings begin with 17 wrestlers each, and 16 wrestlers start in ring 3. When less than 10 wrestlers remain they will all move to one ring. The last two survivors will have a one on one match to win the Mega Match!
I QUIT STEEL CAGE: Magnum TA vs Tully Blanchard
Tag-Team Title Ladder Match: Midnight Express vs Windham & Mulligan
Best of Three Falls Light Heavyweight Title Challenge: Sam Houston vs Brian Christopher
World Championship Dream Match! Lou Thesz defends against Bruiser Brody!
NOTES: The Cruiserweight division now has a higher weight limit, 230 pounds. The division and title are renamed the Light Heavyweight Championship. A slightly modified version of the title belt will get awarded to the winner at Mega Match.
Speaking of MEGA MATCH, this unique 3-ring battle royal is the biggest in Federation history. The Big Apple is an appropriate debut for such a big match. Two Grudges are lined up as the I QUIT STEEL CAGE MATCH and the Ladder match should settle things between the parties involved. The fans are anticipating the finishes of these matches.
Finally, a "Dream Match" was signed as Champion Lou Thesz defends against the wild brawler, Bruiser Brody. This contrast of styles should shape up to the stiffest challenge to Thesz title yet.
Stay tuned at ringside for the results!!

MEGA MATCH in New York, City
Ladder Match for Tag-Team Title: Blackjack Mulligan and Barry Windham defeat Champions The Midnight Express to win the titles!
Best-Of-Three Falls Light Heavyweight Title (rebranded with a different title belt for 230 lbs and less): Brian Christopher took the title in a sweep 2-0.
Intercontinental Title "Dream Match": Bruiser Brody W, DQ over Champion Lou Thesz.
I QUIT STEEL CAGE match: Magnum TA won a classic over Tully Blanchard.
Bruiser Brody returned to win the 50-man, 3-ring MEGA MATCH!
NOTES: The I-Quit Steel Cage match stole the show but the MEGA MATCH lived up to the hype. Getting back to the cage, Magnum and Tully went full throttle to win this match as each man pulled out the stops to end this feud. Both men bloodied each other into forcing a surrender. JJ Dillon also got involved, tossing a steel chair into the ring (I Quit chart #7). Both men were able to use it as Blanchard got creative by using a SLINGHSOT SUPLEX where he launched Magnum onto the upright chair.
Magnum winced but did not give, in fact it seemed to focus him. The very next move saw Tully prop him up in a corner but Magnum moved out of the way, Tully crashing into the ringpost (chart #6)! Magnum launched a final assault first with a BELLY-TO-BELLY SUPLEX, then another BELLY TO BELLY onto the chair! Magnum was not done dishing it out, as he forced the edge of the chair onto Tully’s neck. Blanchard did not give up, but passed out from the pain (chart #2)! The fans gave Magnum TA a standing ovation, but both men put their health if not their careers on the line. Fans are already buzzing about this Match of The Year.
The 50-man, 3-ring MEGA MATCH closed the evening.
Two titles changed hands during MEGA MATCH: First The Midnight Express dropped the titles to Blackjack Windham and Barry Windham in a Ladder Match as both belts were suspended above the ring. The advantage seemed to go to the challengers as the champions had trouble getting in sync here. Missing was the continuity and teamwork, replaced by confusion and frustration of the Ladder Match rules. Mulligan took control, making this a measured brawl tagging frequently to Barry to keep the Express reeling.
Lane and Eaton revived at one point and Sweet Stan made a break to grab the belts. Mulligan met him at the top of the ladder. After some fisticuffs, the belts tumbled to the mat with the first team to grab both belts the winner (Ladder chart #2). The confusion continued for the Midnights as Mulligan pawed the titles away from a groggy Lane to win the championships! While the fans loved seeing the Midnights lose the titles, the Ladder match was a bit awkward at times. Fed officials may take this type of match out of the rotation as other specialty matches are more decisive. Meanwhile, Jim Cornette was livid stating his team never was pinned or submitted for the titles and that this was another Superstars-Sized Rip-Off! He may have a point.
A pre-match ceremony included the announcement that the Cruiserweight title is now the Light Heavyweight title as the weight limit was increased from 220 to 230 pounds. A new title belt was also presented and while looking similar it was a copy of the previous belt with the words Light Heavyweight added. Anyhow, Brian Christopher unceremoniously dumped Sam Houston in two straight falls to win the title. A standing leg drop won the first fall and a Full Nelson Slam won the second fall and the title. Sam Houston will not get a rematch as other challengers are lining up after news on the higher weight limit.
Bruiser Brody won two matches in New York. He gained a DQ win over Champion Lou Thesz in the Dream Match then kept his spot in the MEGA MATCH and impressed to win the three-ring, 50-man battle royal. Thesz had a gripe in the title match as he was forced to defend himself against Brody’s wild brawling. Thesz was DQ’d for using Brody’s chain, but Brody used it first but the referee was intimidated by the New Mexico Wildman. Thesz will offer a rematch with troubleshooting referee Morgan Dollar instead of tonight's appointed and subpar New York Athletic Commission official.
Ring #1 - Brody’ big win in MEGA MATCH had him tear through Ring #1 tossing two masked men: Monsters of the Mat #1 and Destroyer. Once 10 wrestlers remained in three rings, the match would halt to move them into ring #1. Dude Brohan and Jim Duggan were fast allies to make it to the final ring, eliminating Williams and Dibiase, along with Duggan spearing Michael Elgin over the ropes.
Ring #2 - Bobo Brazil controlled Ring #2 at one point using a Hammer Punch to nail Johnny Valiant over the ropes then tossing Greg Valentine after a blindside. Robert Gibson surprised in this ring eliminating Russian rival Boris Zhukov and also upsetting Macho Man Randy Savage.
Ring #3 - The Russian strongman HammerHead dominated in Ring #3 teaming with distant relative Ivan Koloff to earn in Ring #1. Dave Taylor was another surprise finalist, tossing fan favorite Scott Casey and then slipping by Curt Hennig.
Finals: The last 10 survivors were moved to one ring. Ivan Koloff was tossed by Gibson, after colliding with his Comrade Hammerhead. Ivan was upset, but one could not tell if he was angry at Gibson or his distant relative? Hammerhead tossed out Gibson next then Jim Duggan and Dave Taylor surprisingly eliminating Dude Brohan. The final four saw Bobo Brazil use his COCO BUTT to knock Hammerhead from the match and Brody helped the clock move to Midnight for Cinderella story of the match, Dave Taylor. Taylor did impress though with his stamina and guile.
Brody and Brazil could only win the MEGA MATCH with a pin or submission. Both men were ready, but Brazil seemed more fatigued at this point. Brazil hung tough as it took 3 Big Boots to the Face for Brody to win MEGA MATCH. Brody has a big night, notching a win over the first champion and the current champion!

Bruiser Brody pinned Wild Bill after a JUMPING KNEE DROP
Magnum TA, WDQ over Boris Zhukov
King Kong Bundy WDQ over Hacksaw Duggan after getting chased with a 2X4.
Hour 2 Light-heavyweight champion Brian Christopher WDQ over Red Rogers
Bobo Brazil pinned Bobby Heenan with a COCO BUTT
Sam Houston WDQ over Hammerhead when Ivan Koloff interfered
Midnight Express beat The Armstrongs with a drop down elbow into Divorce Court on Brad.
Bill Apter of the Wrestling News interviewed Jim Cornette and the manager claimed "They are a victim of a swindle, con job and railroading when the Midnights lost the Ladder Match to Blackjack Mulligan and Barry Windham. The Midnights were never pinned and if it wasn’t for that clumsy oaf Blackjack kicking around the belts like a football, they would have easily retained. As far as I know, the only way a title can change hands is by pinfall or submission and we were NEVER beat. We are seeking legal council to figure out our options, but in the meantime this match with the Armstrongs is an example of what is in store for any team who gets in our way of regaining the gold. "
Apter reminded Cornette that what he said is true about titles changing on pinfall or submission but the Mega Match contract had that provision due to the ladder match stipulation. Cornette responded “the only legal background you have is watching People’s Court reruns, stay out of my business.”
Apter did say that league officials are offering the Express a rematch IF they win an upcoming 10-team battle royal in Syracuse. The winner gets an immediate title shot. Cornette fumed saying "the rematch clause automatically assures this, another Superstar-sized ripoff. "
Cornette steamed off and stated “any further discussion on this matter is now through my attorneys Dewey, Cheatem and Howe. Have a great evening”
First Dark Match: Champion Lou Thesz teamed with Macho Man to defeat Jet Set Strutter and Tully Blanchard (with JJ Dillon). Savage ran wild using several flying ax handles to rock Blanchard. Tully was still sluggish from the big cage match against Magnum TA and was easy prey for a pinfall.
Hour 3 Ted Dibiase and Steve Williams pinned Ron Hutchinson and George South when Williams landed a Lariat on George South.
Dark Invader pinned Bug Buster after 2 CORRUPTORS. Invader pulled up the New York fan favorite after the first to launch a second assault.
Adrian Street WCOR Jerry Lynn after landing a splash on Lynn at ringside in a battle of light-heavyweights.
David Taylor upset Curt Hennig after a Surfboard and BRITISH SUPLEX combo.
Hour 4 Johnny Saint WDQ over Johnny Kobra. Saint frustrated the martial artist with the Saint Special, and Kobra dished out a low kick to both Saint and the referee in a display of poor sportsmanship.
Wild-card match to earn the 10th spot in the tag-team battle royal: Dangerzone and Rad Racer upset newcomers Monsters of the Mat with a missile dropkick!
Ivan Koloff DDQ with Scott Casey. Magnum TA and Sam Houston were at ringside to aid Casey as Boris Zhukov and Koloff’s distant relative Hammerhead interjected themselves. A pier sixer ensued and as a result, a six man USA vs Russia elimination match is signed for an upcoming event in Baltimore!
Iron Sheik beat Michael Elgin. Sheik used a Camel rider to setup the famed CAMEL CLUTCH.
Bonus Dark Match - Marty Jannetty pinned JJ Dillon (proxy for an injured Tully Blanchard). Jannetty used a back elbow ram for the first and only move of the match. Tully was unable to compete as he aggravated an injury from his I QUIT STEEL CAGE match with Magnum TA during the earlier dark match.

WRESTLING NEWS BULLETIN: A few live events loom on the horizon as the Fall Battle Royal season is in session. As announced with Bill Apter and Jim Cornette, Syracuse hosts a special 10-team battle royal. The winners will challenge Blackjack Mulligan and Barry Windham for the tag-titles that evening. Besides the Midnight Express and wild card team DangerZone and Rad Racer eight other teams will compete: The Road Warriors, The Sheepherders, The Russians, The Rock 'N Roll Express. Mainstays Ted Dibiase and Steve Williams plan to make a serious run at the titles in Syracuse along with three teams gearing up as a team for the royal: Tully Blanchard with Jet Set Strutter, Masked Mayhem (Masked Superstar and Destroyer) and Team Rock 'N Sock (Jannetty & Beefcake). See you at ringside!
Montreal features a 13-man light heavyweight battle royal with the winner getting a title shot against champion Brian Christopher. So far Jerry Lynn, Johnny Saint, Adrian Street, Star Boy and Joe Blanchard are signed. However, the remaining eight have committed but not officially announced yet. Heavyweight champion Lou Thesz defends the laurels against Bruiser Brody in a MEGA MATCH rematch. This bout will feature Morgan Dollar as the third man.
An upcoming card in Baltimore will feature a six-man USA vs. Russia elimination match. Representing USA is Magnum TA, Scott Casey and Sam Houston. The Russians are Ivan Koloff, Boris Zhukov and Koloff's relative Hammerhead. A top contenders match between former champions Randy Savage and Bobo Brazil is also signed with title implications on the line. A rematch from TV will have suplex masters Curt Hennig and Dave Taylor go 1-1 while King Kong Bundy slaps the leather with Hacksaw Duggan.
Now onto the action . . .
Superstars Live Event at Syracuse, NY A 10-team battle royal opened the evening with the winner getting a title shot against Barry Windham and Blackjack Mulligan. The Rock 'N Roll Express earned the win, eliminating Dr. Death and Ted Dibiase. The first team eliminated, DangerZone and Rad Racer would not receive a match tonight due to the distinction of early elimination.
The Midnight Express def. Rock 'N Sock (Jannetty and Beefcake) with a RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP on Brutus.
Hawk and Animal (with Paul Ellering) def. Tully Blanchard and Jet Set Strutter (with JJ Dillon) in a classic match. All teams used pin saves to keep this going and Dillon distracted one pin, but Ellering did the same to halt a potential DQ. A DOOMSDAY DEVICE on Tully brought the Road Warriors a victory.
The Sheepherders (Butch and Luke) W, COR Masked Superstar and The Destroyer. A series of BATTERING RAMS led to COR for Superstar as he had too much for the wild New Zealanders.
The Russians (Hammerhead and Ivan Koloff) def. Ted Dibiase and Steve Williams. Hammerhead impressed as he broke out of both Dibiase's COBRA and Doc's OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE. Blood proved thicker than water as Ivan encouraged his distant relative to rebound. Dibiase and Doc could do little against the Soviets. At one point, Doc and Ivan ended up yanking both ends of Koloff's chain. Doc won the tug of war and proceeded to use the chain, forcing a DQ.
Tag-team champions Barry Windham and Blackjack Mulligan defeated battle royal winners Rock 'N Roll Express when Windham caught Gibson with an inverted atomic drop.

The competition for this title is now hot and heavy as the maximum weight limit was raised to 230 pounds. The battle royal leads off the lineup with other matches determined by order of elimination. Lou Thesz defends his title against Bruiser Brody in a bonus title match.

Johnny Kobra pinned Tom Prichard with Leg Sweep. Prichard needed assistance as he was unable to walk from Kobra's finisher.
Austin Aries pinned Adrian Street after a Frog Splash.
Bryan Danielson defeated Tim Donst following a Yakuza Kick then CATTLE MUTILATION.
Joe Blanchard defeated Rock Riddle after dodging a turnbuckle charge with a lariat and locking in the BOSTON CRAB. Nice win for the elder Blanchard.
Brad Armstrong WDQ Jerry Lynn. Lynn got too "extreme" as things spilled to the floor in otherwise evenly matched action.
Light-heavyweight champion Brian Christopher pinned battle royal winner Starboy to retain the title. A set of HIP HOP DROPS setup a pin with the Full Nelson Facebuster.
Heavyweight champion Lou Thesz pinned Bruiser Brody with Morgan Dollar as referee. Morgan Dollar called for a fair match and kept the match at normal pace. Brody started fast, bringing the match briefly to the floor and landing a JUMPING KNEE DROP on the return for the 2 count. Thesz used his guile to get back into the match and kept things inside. A GRECO ROMAN BACKDROP setup an Airplane Spin and a series of double wristlocks to keep Brody grounded. A THESZ PRESS landed the win for the champ

Rematch - David Taylor WDQ over Curt Hennig

Unpopular decision, but the Russians waved their flag in a match just down the road from the Nation's capital. Magnum lasted the longer than the first two eliminations combined but his bloody, valiant effort was in vain with the dastardly Russians working him over.
