Card 18 – Northern Indy Wrestling presents . . . Any Given Sunday, Phoenix Concert Theatre, Toronto, ON
BJ Whitmer b. “No Fear” Mike Mondo
The fans expected hard hitting action from these two and both men delivered. The early action was closely contested with neither man being able to maintain an advantage over the other. Mondo broke lose and took over including picking up a near fall after a jumping big boot. Plenty of brawling outside had the fans roaring particularly when Mondo cracked Whitmer across the back with a chair. The action evened out after Whitmer bounced Mondo’s head off the ringside table. Back inside, Whitmer was able to connect with a deathjump elbow to the top of the head which allowed him to execute a WRIST CLUTCH EXPLODER leading to the three count.
Su Yung DQ Allison Danger
The countering was incredible between these two early on as both women put on a near perfect defensive display. Yung manages to trap Danger in a scorpion death lock which forced her to the floor. Yung came out after her but Danger rammed Yung face first into the ringside table and the official called for the bell ending the match much to quickly for those at ringside.
Adrenaline Rush (ACH & Tadarius “TD” Thomas) b. ReDRagon (Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly)
ACH and O’Reilly started this one off and ACH caught him with Tiger Mask then then followed with a perfect cross body block deathjump for the three count in two moves! (snake eyes!). Ringside is stunned and O’Reilly loses his mind after the bell.
Briscoe Brothers (Mark Briscoe & Jay Briscoe) DQ Northern Indy Tag Team Champions Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team (Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas)
The fans wanted the Briscoes to Man Up and they certain did dominating the early action by cutting off Haas from his partner and beating him inside and outside the ring. Haas was soon as bloody mess after a pair of chair shots but Benjamin was able to make the save after a DOUBLE FOOTBALL TACKLE. Haas then kicked out after a SLINGSHOT LARIAT before he was able to tag in Shelton Benjamin who also found himself quickly in trouble. Jay Briscoe sent Benjamin into the ring post busting him open as well. Back inside, there was a referee bump off of a deathjump and the momentum turned leading to Benjamin getting a big near fall on Jay Briscoe after a PAYDIRT. Haas finally tagged back in and took the action to the floor against Mark Briscoe. Haas grabbed a chair and cracked Briscoe with it. He then used the chair to choke out Briscoe and the referee had seen enough and disqualified the champions. Benjamin took out Jay Briscoe with a PAYDIRT and the champions left ringside to great heat.
The Tribe (Navajo Warrior & Hawaiian Lion)w/Oliva b. Los Bandidos (Tito Escondido & Rico Dynamite) in a best of three falls match. The Tribe came to fight and took their frustrations out of Econdido in the first half of the opening fall with both members of the Tribe showcasing their power moves and double teaming. Econdido avoiding being pinned twice before being able to finally tag Dynamite into the action. The match was much closer now with Dynamite facing Lion. Dynamite scored with a backdrop counter that sent Lion crashing to the floor. Back inside, twice Dynamite attempted to get the submission with a RICO DEATH CLINCH but Lion powered out and was able to get the tag. Now it was Dynamite who fell victim to the Tribe’s offensive attack. Warrior crushed Dynamite with back to back MOMUMENT DRIVERS and then the Tribe executed back to back RESERVATION DEVASTATION to take the first fall. Lion starts off the second fall against Dynamite who can barely answer the bell. A pair of snap belly to belly suplexes crush Dynamite and the Tribe quickly hit another RESERVATION DEVASTATION. With Quackenbush down and out, Danielson found himself outnumbered but the arrival of Adrenaline Rush and Arik Royal prevented the Brotherhood of Truth from acting.
