Although I would like Greg Valentine to win, I am picking Mad Dog Vachon (I still need to read the Mad Dog book- probably my next wrestling book after I finish Death of the Territories.)

Just getting caught up and the tournament is rocking so far. My favorite match was Tom Prichard vs. Buddy Rogers. What a performance by Prichard. I was shocked to see so many picking Larry Zbyszko to win but I'm happy to see Stan Hansen advance. I'm hoping that "The Lariat" can go far. I'm pulling for Mad Dog Vachon in the next bout.

Hansen vs Rogers could be off the chart. Looking forward to that match. Go Mad Dog. Gotta agree with TTX. Hansen / Rogers has potential masterpiece written all over it. Go Valentine!

I am absolutely blown away by the feedback generated by the first week of the tournament. Thank for your taking a few minutes to make a prediction or make a comment. Humanoids4eva , I really like the idea of a Valentine v. Boogie Woogie Man feud. There would be some serious bloody spilled in that one. Thank you for the making the pic and the book recommendations as well Vegas and walkswithwolf . I would love to hear about any more recommendations you have sometime. There was a copy of Pure Dynamite at the vendor tables at the last indy show I was at. I should have grabbed it. Glad you are enjoying the action so far cruefan68 . I have to agree that Pitchard v. Rogers might be the match of the week but I am still waiting for the contest that blows me out of the water. Mad Dog Vachon (25) v. Greg Valentine (40) Valentine scores with an early tackle coming off the ropes and then attacks with back to back vertical suplexes. Valentine goes to work with forearms and another suplex. Kicks in the corner land and Valentine hits a falling elbow hammer. “The Hammer” then drags a stunned Vachon to the middle of the ring and applies a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. Vachon cannot escape, passing out, and Valentine, a former tournament finalist, makes it through the first round convincingly (R3/P3). Total Squash! And another exact low exact pin roll. Up next . . . Stan Lane (8) w/Jim Cornette v. Nikolai Volkoff (57) Thanks again for everyone who is taking the time to check out this event. Some of the competitors coming up this week include Tully Blanchard, The Crusher, Harley Race and Johnny Valentine!

Im voting for Stan Lane in the next one.He is more tag based, but i think he does pretty well as a Single Wrestler.

Voting for Volkoff here, I've always had a soft spot for the big Russian.

Looks like the Hammer is warming up for another run in the tournament.
While the Midnights are my tag-team champions, Lane is one of those tag specialists who struggle to find the win column. Plus Nikolai's card is a bit underrated as he can give top guns some moments.

Thanks for the comments TTX , walkswithwolf , jirish780 and Humanoids4eva Stan Lane (8) w/Jim Cornette v. Nikolai Volkoff (57) Volkoff sings for the fans who boo him out of the building. Both men play to their strengths resulting in a stalemate but Lane catches Volkoff with a flurry of karate kicks which leads to a RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP for a one count (R11/P4). Lane comes off the top with a deathjump and then plants the big Russian with a second RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP for a one count (R10/P5). Lane takes the battle outside where Volkoff cracks Lane across the back with a chair. Morgan Dollar appeared ready to let them fight but the chair shot took things too far and Dollar makes the first disqualification call of the tournament. Up next . . . Harley Race (4) v. Bob Armstrong (61)
