After being pumped for the “war” I’m already zoned out and just reading the results online like RAW and SD. AEW has a faction brawl every week, and it still seems like the focus is on the same few guys (Moxley, PAC, Bucks, Cody, Jericho). I read they hit their first sub 1 million viewers so next Wednesday will be interesting to see what they do to counter that.
NXT is boring just reading about it. I had no idea “Swerve” was Shane Strickland. It’s like a smart mark fed. If you aren’t already familiar with the wrestlers Indy pasts you’re lost. There seems to be zero character building. And do they really go 15 minute past 10pm? Seems so desperate. They also started a few weeks earlier than AEW which has obviously hurt them. Can’t see them rebounding. Might be total bust.

The first week I gave everything a try but at this point I am down to just Dynamite in my weekly viewing. Generally with much of WWE I find myself fast forwarding the wrestling part and just watching the other stuff. With AEW and much of NXT I find myself enjoying the wrestling part so much more. Good variety of guys they feature each week on AEW, espeiclly with the tag team division. But the women's division is really weak, which is usually the only wrestling I watch on Raw/Smackdown.

wildfire - DDP was there as one of Cody's pals because they are friends. As well as DDP and Jericho. Cuz y'know, AEW Dynamite was almost called AEW Friends & Family. You also make a good point about the pacing of some of the matches. Big spot... stuff... big spot... wash and repeat. A lot of the matches had logical places to end but then they just kept on going. They suffer from the indy penchant for overusing false finishes. It makes these matches seem so much longer than they really are.

Over-runs are part of an insidious and sneaky attempt to pad the ratings.
If the show goes over the 'scheduled time' and into the next show's scheduled time, they're counting on people tuning in to watch the show that they REALLY want to watch but end up (hopefully) sitting through the final 10-15 minutes of the wrestling show.
The company can then add those late arrivals to the total viewership to try to bump up their ratings numbers in a dirty, sneaky kind of way.
At least, that's why the practice of the going-past-the-hour-every-week stuff started back during the Monday Night War.

I really need to watch Dark. I get that DDP is a personal friend, but still, he's already on the payroll as a trainer or whatever, you don't have to waste TV time on him, you know? The ratings might have been effected by the World Series.. which means the slide could end next week, only to continue the week after and give everyone false hope.
I think the real test of if they'll be viable is how many PPV buys they generate, and what the show after the PPV draws... that's a 'jumping off' point.

I would pay to be a fly on the wall as Jim Cornette heard the RnR were introducing the AEW tag belts. Oh my God it had to be wonderful.

Saw episode 4 some good stuff like tag team matches . Jamie Hayter (v Britt Baker) impressed me , never even heard of her before and I'm British . What puzzles me its Mox v Kenny Omega at Full Gear PPV this Saturday and they have Mox v PAC on Dynamite show ? Someone somewhere is coping someone between AEW v WWE with Private Party v Street Profits and Sammy Guevara v Humberto Carrico , don't you think ?

First Buddy Murphy and Cedric Alexander get the good but not good enough to beat a top guy treatment, then Sammy w Cody then again w Darby Allin vs Jericho and w Carrico and Rollins. Trying to get cruiserweights over by pushing top guys to their limits but still losing. Almost as annoying as beating the champ in a non title match, I think if they really want to push these guys let them win big matches.

They did over 100k without TV for the first two. I'd imagine they'll do a similar number for this one. My only big complaint about AEW to this point, and I'll openly admit to having not watched last night's show yet, is that Omega/Moxley shouldn't be an unsanctioned match right now. This should have been a regular match that got so crazy and out of hand that they HAD to make a rematch unsanctioned. Otherwise this just looks like them trying to skate around those win/loss records, which I'm a huge fan of and think they're a really good deviation from the norm, but if you're just gonna do a bunch of unsanctioned matches to get around them, why have them?

Last night's episode was pretty much a dud for me.
And the horrible comparisons continue. Adam Page is like Barry Windham. Buck are like RnR. Marko Stunt is just like Rey Mysterio. Now they are comparing Sammy Guevara to Eddie Guerrero. Give me a break.
Proud & Powerful? That's the name Santana and Ortiz are going with? Sounds like the slogan for a women's empowerment organization.
Page vs Guevara did not interest me at all.
The women's match was sloppy and went on too long.
Stop wasting time with Brandi Obama. She is terrible in the ring, terrible on the mic. Just stop.
They have to stop with the "Uncalled for and disgusting attacks" too. This is getting boring. Why bring RnR on just to have them get beat down. Has the reek of WWE.
The stupid Rick & Morty match.
Jericho was one of the few shining spots. "Ski-avone sucks." LOL
The Omega/Old Bucks trios match. SOS
I like Peter Avalon but I was hoping Mox would beat that dumb gimmick out of him. Nice promo by Mox though.
The main event was cool. I'm glad SCU won. I'm also glad they ended the show with them getting the belts without a melee breaking out.
I just was not engaged with this show.
