Go go, Gotch. Nice win by Saito as well. Mornin TTX! I was pretty jazzed as well that Gotch survived the first round for sure. Although Blair definitely gave him a run for his money which was really cool. Always liked watchin Blair wrestle when he was with the AWA. Saito / Rich was one of the best so far. Without a doubt a real main event style match up. I'm hoping to post round 1 matches 9 - 16 at some point tonight, (there were some good ones in there as well). Also going to post at some point the "Alcatraz Tournaments Chart" that I've been using to determine the surrounding pre-match & post-match occurrences. (I just have to translate it from Brianese into English lol). Thanks brother!

Hey topdollar! I tell ya, Brody was never in any danger of losing that bout. It was like when Loki met the Hulk for the first time in the first Avengers movie. Not sure if I mentioned this or not, but with these tournaments all of the wrestlers fatigue keeps on adding up match to match. Unfortunately for whomever faces him in the second round, Bruiser Brody will be unfazed as well as on a roll. Thanks for the comment amigo!

I think Blair would feel hard done by in his defeat. I mean, he's the toughest guy ever. He beat up Bobby Duncum, owned the Iron Sheik.... Hey joebreakdown! Blair really took it to Gotch in this contest, so much that Gotch actually had respect for him after the contest ended. I try to balance the "victor goes the spoils" versus giving every wrestler their props. That was how I saw this one. Put Gotch on more of a pedestal since this is a singles tournament whereas if this was a tag tourney, Blair (& Brunzell) would have been more on the pedestal. Thanks for being a part of this mate! Always look forward to your take on things.

Totally agree, it was one hell of a scene, my second favorite Marvel Moment, before Captain America burrying his shield into Iron Man's chest, but second to the entire Winter Soldier movie. Excelsior my friend!

Building 64 Alcatraz Island Second Weekend Saturday 2:45 P.M. Singles Tournament Round 1 Results - (Matches 9 - 16 of 32)
9. Sabu vs Jim Londos - Saturday 2:45 PM:
Sabu defeated Jim Londos via Pinfall. Sabu pinned Londos with a do or die version of his TRIPLE JUMP MOONSAULT finisher at the 27:30 minute mark.
Pre-match was spent on strategy with these two, Rob Van Dam kept telling Sabu to attack and move, to pick him apart with aerial moves and keep moving but don't go hardcore, Londos knew that Sabu was at heart a daredevil, so reversals and transitions to holds that will tie him up and wear him down was his plan; post-match, Sabu walked triumphantly up to Rob Van Dam at ringside, folded his arms and smiled, to which Van Dam responded, "Yeah but that Arabian Facebuster nearly cost you the match and Londos just barely missed rolling out of the way at the end...thats it...I'm not watching you're solo matches anymore...to nerve wracking"...
10. Rob Van Dam vs Yukon Eric - Saturday 3:17:30 PM:
Yukon Eric defeated Rob Van Dam via Disqualification. Van Dam was disqualified for executing his egregious Van Daminator at the 3:30 minute mark.
This pre-match likewise as well was spent on strategy, Sabu kept telling Rob Van Dam to again attack and move, to pick him apart with aerial moves and keep moving but above all to not let him grab you cause he can break you on half, conversely, The Mountie told Eric that all he had to do was catch him and break him - The Mountie also told Eric to not be afraid to smash him with something, but to be cool about it; post-match, The Mountie walked triumphantly up to Rob Van Dam at ringside, folded his arms and smiled, to which Van Dam responded by Monkey Flipping The Mountie Into Yukon Eric, sparking a security force to get in between The Mountie & Van Dam, Sabu walked up to Van Dam with a smile and said, "I told you to not let him grab you...thats it...I'm not watching you're solo matches anymore...too violent"...
11. Billy Red Lyons vs The Iron Sheik - Saturday - 3:26 PM:
The Iron Sheik defeated Billy Red Lyons via Submission. Lyons defeated to a savage execution of Sheik's CAMEL CLUTCH finisher at the 9:00 minute mark.
The pre-match consisted of The Iron Sheik warning Billy Red Lyons that if he doesn't join him via first - taking a dive during they're match and then joining him and his 6 or 7 friends, than there will be consequences; post-match, courtesy of a distraction of the referee by Nikolai Volkoff, The Iron Sheik unceremoniously punted Lyons head with his Loaded Boot before triumphantly exiting the arena area with Volkoff...
12. Mil Mascaras vs The Sheik - Saturday 3:40 PM:
Mil Mascaras defeated The Sheik via Pinfall. Mascaras pinned The Sheik with a fourth subsequent version of his CROSSBODY ATTACK secondary finisher at the 12:30 minute mark.
Mascaras never saw The Sheik coming during the pre-match period, one second, Mascaras was jogging down a path on Alcatraz Island and the next, The Sheik emerged from some bushes and stabbed Mascaras on the side of his head repeatedly with a foreign object - injuring him; post-match, an absolutely furious Don Leo Jonathan came to his tag partners defense - he grabbed The Sheik and threw him into a pile of chairs, then grabbed one, and chased The Sheik out of the building...
13. Freddie Blassie vs Luke Williams - Saturday 3:57:30 PM:
Freddie Blassie defeated Luke Williams via Pinfall. Blassie pinned Williams with a potential career ending version of his SOUTHERN NECKBREAKER finisher at the 21:00 minute mark.
Pre-match activities did not consist of any altercations between these two, Freddie Blassie was huddled with an unidentified group in a dark corner of the prizon yard, and Luke Williams did what he always did to warm up prematch, he and Butch Miller randomly try to attack each other; post-match, Luke Williams regained his senses and blasted Freddie Blassie in the head with a steel garbage can, injuring him - driving Blassie to Bite Williams Forehead Open. As a murderous Roddy Piper came to Blassie's defense, Williams quickly scooted away...
14. Harley Race vs Dan Severn - Saturday 4:23:30 PM:
Harley Race defeated Dan Severn via Pinfall. Race pinned an incredibly resilient Severn with his second PILEDRIVER finisher at the 27:00 minute mark.
A scared and fired up Harley Race spent the pre-match time shoulder blocking a large tree until it actually started to slowly weaken and was knocked over, Dan Severns pre-match was spent in silent concentration, by picking up and throwing large rocks/small boulders; post-match, both Race and Severn collapsed in a heap and laid on the canvas for quite some time...Race was the first to get to his feet...after he had gotten to his feet, Severn held out a congratulatory hand, but Race looked him the eye - and then walked right past him...
15. Mr. Fuji vs The Crusher - Saturday 4:55:30 PM:
The Crusher defeated Mr. Fuji via Disqualification. Fuji was disqualified for attempting to innocently Throw Salt In Eyes at the 0:30 minute mark.
Prematch, Mr. Fuji hummed to himself, a somewhat off key version of an old war chant as he meticulously chopped up half a pound of salt with a razor blade and mirror and The Crusher enjoyed quite a rush and just had a ball - as he kept deadlifting the tree that Harley Race previously tore out of the ground; post-match, The Crusher beat the small pack of the remaining salt out of Mr. Fuji and then unceremoniously rammed it down his throat...as a burning vomiting ensued - George The Animal Steele tossed Crusher a brew...and missed him completely...but Crusher was able to catch the second one that Steele threw...
16. The Masked Superstar vs Nikolai Volkoff - Saturday 5:01 PM:
The Masked Superstar defeated Nikolai Volkoff via Pinfall. Superstar pinned Volkoff with his blistering Head Butt at the 12:30 minute mark.
Nikolai Volkoff attempted with all his might to intimidate and get inside The Masked Superstar's head, but was met with an arms folded, chest out and silent defiant stare; post-match, The Masked Superstar waited for Nikolai Volkoff to make it to his feet before clamping on his COBRA HOLD secondary finisher prompting The Iron Sheik, The Destroyer and a large security force to flood the ring...
Next up folks:
Singles tournament round 1 match results for matches 17 - 24 of 32.
Hope all be good by youse!

RVD and Fuji go a little too far. Race vs Severn sounded awesome. With DBS coming to Legends, I can't wait to see him eventually hit a Bri fed.

Race vs Severn was an absolute war - and probably the longest contest to date, lots of toughness shown on noth sides. Davey Boy Smith must be a blast to use. Looking forward to using him as well. At some point either tonight or Tomorrow morn I should have the first round results for matches 17 - 24 (of 32). Hope they dont dissapoint!

Nice to see the "Greatest Wrestler On God's Green Earth" win. Harley Race is a lot like Steve Rogers: "I can do this all day." Excelsior, Bri!
