Hello all,

My name is Paul Maple...and I have accepted possibly the greatest job...that any wrestling fan could ever have, (at least I think so!!).

I am writing this...in the newly converted basement arena of Saint Anslems church on 4th Avenue and 82nd Street in Bay Ridge Brooklyn, New York.

I am being paid a very large amount of money, plus room and board here in the basement of the church...and my jobs are the following:

1.  Official records keeper.
2.  Upkeep of the ring area and limited seating.
3.  Re-ordering new furniture.
4.  First aid.
5.  Extinguishing fires.
6.  Or as required, (Beer, Booze, Cigarettes etc).

Why exactly am I doing this?

Well 24 of the greatest professional wrestlers ever have all made a descrete arrangement with the commissioner / promoter of this endeavor.

An endeavor that on paper...or in cyberspace...does not exist...

All 24 of these legends are all under contract with various other promotions like - LOW - Legends of Wrestling, LWF Super World Tour, Rebel Wrestling, TXW to name a few...and are not legally eligible to compete outside of their feds.

But...in most cases...you just really can't tell wrestlers what to do - at least not for long...

Word got out on the down low of whispers of a secret promotion that will only hold its cards beginning at midnight, and specifically without any fans present mnor cameras rolling.

The ideas were to; assure no distractions and  enable supreme focus in order to maximize competition...to truly find out who's really...the best of the best...and not by any flukes...

The way this works is...the wrestlers compete in each event throughout the year and at the end of the year, the competitor and team who has amassed the most points, wins it all, and wins the honorary titles of The Greatest and The Greatest Tag Team...

And the prize award here is so epic...
that they also...won't tell me...so it's gotta be serious...but I'll find it out 😁...

So, here's the structure:

Starting on this upcoming January 4th and with each subsequent even numbered calendar day, there will be a 3 match card - singles contest - tag contest - singles contest.

The competition runs from January through December.

Over the course of every month, these Basement Brawls will occur on the:

4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 12th, 14th, 16th, 18th, 20th, 22nd, 24th & 26th - all starting at midnight.

Over the course of each month, each individual wrestler will wrestle a total of 2 times...and each tag team...will compete 2 times as well.

The year long competitions scoring is as follows:

Each clean victory = 2 pts
Each dq or count out victory = 1 pt
DDQ = 0 pts

No time limits

Random bookings

Each individual wrestler and tag team competes exactly 24 times.

I wish I could tell you who the 24 are however...I  actually don't know who they are...this is on a strict...need to know basis...

Once we get past the first 6 cards...then we should know the 24 identities...

From the ages of 6 to 11 I lived on 80th Street between 3rd and 4th Avenues so this church is very familiar to me and it's like going back to my childhood.

January 4th
St. Anslems Church
Start Time - 12:00 am.


Match Results:
-------------------------------

1.  Lou Thesz defeated Jimmy Snuka - as Snuka was disqualified for blasting Thesz in the head with a steel chair outside the ring at the 1:30 minute mark.

2.  The Road Warriors - Hawk & Animal defeated Old School - Frank Gotch & George Hackenschmidt via Pinfall as Hawk pinned a very bloodied Frank Gotch after his Gut Wrench Suplex at the 22:30 minute mark.

3.  The Sheik defeated The Destroyer via Pinfall - as The Shiek pinned a bloodied and chared Destroyer after a Bite To Forehead at the 16:30 minute mark.


Match Notes:
------------------------------

1.  Jimmy Snuka became easily frustrated as he simply could not build a sizeable offense against Lou Thesz who always kept reversing it at every turn, even after Snuka attacked Thesz just before the bell.

2.  I wasn't sure that The Road Warriors were going to be involved in this, that's going to put everyone on notice. I'm also not sure how many other official teams are in the 24. It was awesome to see Gotch and Hackenschmidt though, especially as a team. Hope they can function together. Gotch showed tremendous stamina after surviving multiple pin attempts by The Road Warriors - Including their DOOMSDAY DEVICE tag finisher.

3.  I got nervous when I saw the Sheik enter the ring shortly after The Destroyer. Destroyer had the early goings in this one until The Sheik does what The Sheik does. The Destroyer held tough, even fighting through a FIREBALL that burnt his face and most of his mask off.


Observations:
-----------------------------------

1.  It was really something else to first see The Superfly enter the arena and then later followed by Lou Thesz. I've seen Snuka wrestle more often than Thesz, but watching Thesz is like watching a real master at work, I could see Snuka losing his patience.

2.  Frank Gotch is one resilient mofo. There were times when the Road Warriors kept double teaming him left and right, but he still kicked out and kept getting up. The Road Warriors were a tag team machine in this contest - and are maybe even...THE...tag team machine?

3.  The Destroyer is more agile and stronger than The Sheik. But the Sheik totally has the market cornered on crazy. When The Sheik made the final cover, he still apparently had part of The Destroyers chared skin in his mouth...he actually swallowed it. Security had to get in between them and I had to immediately treat The Destroyer on the spot.
