I feel like this takes place in a basement where the ring is in the ground and on eye level with fans Hey LAWraith! Thank you for raising this point. When I was 11 years old, I sold hot dogs in the room that I am imagining this spectator less ring to be (except for the person recording the matches and keeping the scores. It's actually large enough for a full sized ring to be used so that's what I'm envisioning is going on here. Ring thats parallel to the ground (in a sunken floor fashion is a very intrresting idea - makes it more like Fight Club or something right? Great observation! And thanks very much for being in the seats!

Yeah Andre is a tough card, he hadnt even lost my first year and then all of a sudden couldn't beat King Kong Bundy Hello again LAWraith! He really is, and I was really on the fence with even using him at all in this. But then I thought that this adds a different dimension to this whole thing. As was previously mentioned - with The Road Warriors being a part of this - its a challenge for all the teams to be 1. Against each other and 2. Against The Road Warriors. Same theory in my mind with having Andre in this. Thanks again for your input my man!

Another wonderful concept from our good friend, Bri! Thanks for the shout-out to my Rebel Wrestling fed, brother. You're welcome to use any of my ideas for The Basement Brawls. After only one match, the "Nature Boy" takes his rightful place on top of the leader board where he belongs--I dare anyone to try and knock him off! I just dare them! Love the pairing of Lou Thesz & William Muldoon as We Can Do This All Day. I remember referencing the Captain America quote in comparing Thesz to Steve Rogers in your Alcatraz fed. I can't wait to see what other surprises you have in store for us. By the way, did you get the name Paul Maple from T.M. Maple, the long-time writer to comic book letter columns? Hey topdollar! Much much to kind my friend. You know, I must have subconsciously retained that quote from you referencing because it just seemed to fit Thesz and Muldoon in my eyes. The Nature Boy always makes things interesting doesn't he? And don't you worry, we'll have him back to Rebel Wrestling in no time lol. Regarding our narrator Paul Maple, Paul Maple is my pornstar name. In order to find out your pornstar name (I've been told) is the first name is your middle name and the second name is the same name as the first street/ave/place that you lived on. In my case Paul and Maple from Maple Ave in Flushing Queens, New York. Great question my friend and I always look forward to your thoughts on this!!

What's really funny is the Road Warriors have not done well in my current incarnation. They only have nabbed one title reign in two years

Yeah Andre is a tough card, he hadnt even lost my first year and then all of a sudden couldn't beat King Kong Bundy Hey LAWraith! Agreed my friend. Out of the 24 wrestlers in this - Andre's inclusion was my hardest decision. But ultimately I settled on the fact that coupled in addition to having The Road Warriors in the mix in the tag scene - that Andre's presence would add a whole new dimension to it - regardless of who he decided he's teaming with. (But that will be coming soon). For the singles competition, I thought ok without Andre in here, then it could boil down to a handful of wrestlers as favorites. But with Andre in it I see it this way: 1. Andre would be the favorite, but will he execute enough? Or will DQ and Count Out victories haunt him. 2. And if Andre does have a pretty stellar 24 matches throughout the year and does well - one serious challenge now exists with regards to the other 23 wrestlers - can they up their game and who does it. 3. As a tribute - Will Andre suffer from the King Kong Bundy effect? Thanks for being a part of this dude!

Andre vs Superstar sounded like a lot of fun. Mascaras and Destroyer is definitely a tough team. Hey TTX! Superstar came so close to getting it done. I was really impressed and even pulling for him to do it I like Soldiers of Fortune (Mascaras & Destroyer) too. They can go toe to toe with just about anyone in this. Will be intetesting to see how the top of the tag rankings start to shape up. By the end of I think Card 6 we should have seen all of the tag teams in action - as well as everyone across the board in The Basement Brawls. By the end of Card 6 - Paul Maple should start receiving the next cards matchups ahead of time. Let's hope they don't let us down. Thanks brother.

What's really funny is the Road Warriors have not done well in my current incarnation. They only have nabbed one title reign in two years Hey LAWraith! I've had the same experience with The Road Warriors. This is another interesting question - just how will The Road Warriors fare in this. I am hoping that to all of these questions are suprising / unexpected answers. I look forward to your input my friend!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Basement Brawls - Month 1 - Card 3: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
January 8th St. Anslems Church 4th Avenue & 82nd Street Brooklyn, N.Y. Start Time - 12:00 am.
Match Results: -------------------------------
1. Frank Gotch defeated Road Warrior Hawk via Knockout - Gotch forced the referee to rule a Knockout on a bloodied and unconscious Hawk after Gotch applied his Guillotine Choke at the 36:30 minute mark.
Tag Bout: ----------------------
2. The Salt of The Earth - Mr. Fuji & Masked Superstar defeated Superfly Samurai - Jimmy Snuka & Giant Baba via Disqualification as Snuka was disqualified for Powerslamming a bloodied Superstar Through The Ringside Coffee And Donut Table at the 30:00 minute mark.
3. William Muldoon defeated Nick Bockwinkel via Pinfall - Muldoon pinned Bockwinkel as a result of immediate back to back Suplexes at the 3:00 minute mark.
Match Notes: ------------------------------
1. Road Warrior Hawk was in complete control of this match, as he pounded the daylights out of Frank Gotch, but he never tried to put him away. The turning point was a dramatic one; when Hawk attempted a leap at Gotch off of the top rope, Gotch avoided it - but as a result, Hawk knocked the referee unconscious. Gotch then quickly applied his GOTCH TOEHOLD finisher; but as Hawk was slapping the canvas, the referee was still out - prompting Gotch to snap and apply multiple torturous holds one after one to Hawk.
2. An unbelievable bout that had everything including; strategic & hot tags on both sides, all four men simultaneously brawling inside the ring, extreme brawling on the outside on both sides, a match saving distraction by Mr. Fuji as Giant Baba had Masked Superstar beaten via pinfall courtesy of his NECKBREAKER DROP - and one hell of a tenacious and bloody effort by Masked Superstar that ultimately caused Jimmy Snuka to once again blow a fuse.
3. I don't know if Nick Bockwinkel either; vastly underestimated William Muldoon or Muldoon vastly overwhelmed Bockwinkel here, but maybe a little bit of both? Bockwinkel landed one forearm smash and then Muldoon proceeded to take Bockwinkel completely apart. Bockwinlel aparently decided to answer his insult with an injury as out of nowhere - Harley Race stormed the ring...catching all of us...especially our security force completely off guard...Bockwinkel and Race lay a beating on Muldoon before we were all able to break it up...
Observations: -----------------------------------
1. There was definitely some animosity still left over from when The Road Warriors faced Gotch & Hackenschmidt (Old School) on the first card. By the time Gotch applied the guillotine choke, Hawk was barely conscious, if not unconscious. As the referee and William Muldoon volunteered to help remove Hawk on a stretcher and I kept compressing and treating Hawks wounds, we suddenly had to change directions; Road Warrior Animal and George Hackenschmidt were beating the shit out of each other only about 10 feet away from us. This match was crazy, I'm gonna need a drink.
2. Jimmy Snuka really seems to have a hair up his ass lately with this being the second time he's been disqualified in his first two matches - and as a result of his rage, this bout came within a second or two of turning into our first double disqualification. Masked Superstar has been incredible so far in both matches he's been in and Mr. Fuji definitely displayed his mastery of tag team strategies. The boxes of joe and the donuts never stood a chance, which really pissed off our referee, I told him that I'm on it & gotta move that table.
3. Before I even knew it...I even wound up on the ring apron after this one...which eventually freaked me out...after our security and even Frank Gotch were finally able to calm the sitiation down. About ten minutes after the event was over and I was enjoying a quiet cigarette in the parking lot...a car quickly pulled up...the driver got out...walked around to open the trunk...and continue towards the church - with a baseball bat in his hands...but I was able...to settle Mr. Thesz (William Muldoons tag partner) down...after promising him that Muldoon was ok...and Bockwinkel & Race were no longer here...

▪ Tonight felt a lot more volatile than the first two nights so...
▪ I'm going to ask to double the security on hand...and also additional first aid / medical help...at least one more person...
▪ I also have this bad feeling about...whomever is going to be teaming with The Sheik...
▪ Also need to start knowing in advance...as to just whose going to be scheduled on at least the upcoming card...so we can be ready and brace ourselves...
