Glad to see it going again. Saint vs RVD should be fun. Go Cast Iron and Destroyer. Thesz showed some impressive strength there. Hey TTX! As always my brother I appreciate you're support and kind words. I am hoping this next card is enjoyable. Whenever a wrestler appears to really pull off a miraculous feat I try to give them their props. Thanks very much amigo!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Basement Brawls - Month 1 - Card 9: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
January 20th St. Anselms Church 4th Avenue & 82nd Street Brooklyn, N.Y. Start Time - 12:00 am.
Opening Bout: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Johnny Saint defeated Rob Van Dam via Disqualification - Van Dam was disqualified for Relentless Brawling Outside the Ring at the 1:30 minute mark.
Tag Bout: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Cast Iron - Frank Gotch & George Hackenschmidt defeated The Legbreakers - Buddy Rogers & Gorgeous George Without Cherie Dupre via Submission - Rogers submitted to Hackenschmidts RUSSIAN BEAR HUG finisher - as Gotch connected with a Forearm Uppercut on George at the 12:00 minute mark.
Main Event: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Lou Thesz defeated The Destroyer via Pinfall - A bloodied Thesz pinned a bloodied Destroyer via his Airplane Spin as the ref shooed away The Dark Menace with his free hand at the 25:00 minute mark.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Match Notes & Observations: --------------------------------------------------------
1. What started out being a fast paced high octane aerial offensive match...quickly disintegrated into Rob Van Dam sensing an opportinity to get in some quick offense at a distracted Johnny Saint's expense...the folks in this basement arena tonight were all focused on one thing...well a few things...as it turmed out...because sitting in one of the few seats set out was April Hunter...(Schwing! - have to remember to delete that from my notes)...I would have gotten up to go introduce myself...but I couldn't stand up at the moment because of a cramp...
2. A great match with a slightly different approach to it...Buddy Rogers and George Hackenschmidt both appeared to be using the same two strategies against each other...neither let the other tag out to the unhurt wrestler...and both were determined to end this match quickly...Hackenschmidt came back from behind after kicking out of Rogers Sunset Flip and Piledriver...with a Sunset Flip of his own as well as his Wristlock Suplex...but the Suplex did the trick...stunning Rogers long enough for Hackenschmidt to latch on his finisher for the victory...
3. This might have been the best match so far in these Basement Brawls...The Destroyer commanded the offense for a long time...rendering Thesz with a cut open forehead...and almost forced him to submit to his FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK finisher...but miraculously...Thesz was able to drag both of them closer to the ropes for the break (crazy core strength)...despite a key distraction by The Dark Menace...Thesz mounted a slow and steady comeback where...the longer the match lasted...the more it worked in Thesz's favor...although Thesz could never get in a good position to land either of his finishers...his Airplane Spin into almost a modified Samoan Drop wound up doing the trick...
Individual Wrestler Scoreboard: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jim Londos - 4 The Sheik - 4
Lou Thesz - 3
Bruiser Brody - 2 Greg Valentine - 2 Rikidozan - 2 Harley Race - 2 Mil Mascaras - 2 George Hackenschmidt - 2 Rob Van Dam - 2 William Muldoon - 2 Frank Gotch - 2 Buddy Rogers - 2 Andre the Giant - 2

The Destroyer - 0 Masked Superstar - 0 Road Warrior Hawk - 0 Nick Bockwinkel - 0 Gorgeous George - 0 Mr. Fuji - 0 Road Warrior Animal - 0 Giant Baba - 0 Jimmy Snuka - 0

Manager / Entourage Declarations To Date: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

▪ Bobby Heenan - (The team of Crime & Punnishment and only Nick Bockwinkel in singles competition).
Special Notes: -----------------------------------------
▪ The Dark Menace confirmed that the referee from two nights ago has been fired...and although it hasn't happened yet...there is a possibilty of Morgan Dollar himself signing on for theoretically all of the remaining 144 cards of this competition...I guess The Menace isn't fooling around...
▪ After thinking about my grandmother for about 15 minutes or so...I was then able to walk over to April Hunter and introduce myself...she's really cool...and they are quite breathtaking...
▪ Speaking of The Dark Menace not fooling around...he suddenly tapped April on the shoulder in order to speak privately with her...hate that guy...
▪ After April left...The Dark Menace said that on the next card he will be bringing to me a sizeable amount of money in cash...and that I'm to take that to the bank two blocks over and put it in a savings account...when I asked him what it was for he said...It's a bet between how well my team of Soldiers of Fortune (Mascaras & Destroyer) will do against her team...but before I could find out who April's team was...The Menace had gotten a call and took it outside...

I have a soft spot for the Golden Greek, probably my top guy in that wrestling era along with Strangler Lewis. And Londos is my go to guy whenever there is a football round-robin season going on.

Man Bri... I really love the concept for this fed. It's got a cool points system and seems like everything is super established at this point with the managers, which I always have a soft spot for. I really love it. Book marked.
Also, I can imagine that Thesz/Destroyer Match was epic!

Nice to see Cast Iron win. Rogers vs Gotch should be fun. Hey TTX! I figured you would dig Cast Iron pulling out the victory. I'm a big Buddy Rogers fan - especially how topdollar writes for him in his fed. But the only problem (for me) about Buddy Rogers is - he's not Frank Gotch. Gotch for me is a very close, photo finish second behind only Lou Thesz, as far as the Legends line goes. Here's to hoping that the man who insisted on changing his tag team's name to Cast Iron wins it! As always - you rule!

Hey magnumta! I hear ya dude - Jim Londos is definitely way up on my list. When I tried to plan out the idea for this one I knew I wanted to keep this to me top 24 only so it was manageable for me. And there were a lot of wrestlers who were right on the edge for me on whether or not to include in this - but Jim Londos was in the top 10. I haven't been able to play as much as I would like too lately but The Basement Brawls will be continuing. Glad to have you as a part of this my friend!

I have to check me notes but I think that all of the managers are in the mix now (but I have to double check). This is going to be continuing but with a tighter posting style. I have to tell you that Destroyer / Thesz match was a definite classic. I am a huge fan of Thesz but The Destroyer gave him such a problem that If Destroyer won it - I would have been ok with it. Thesz had to come from behind to pull this one out. Thanks amigo!

I like your presentation style - It makes your feds easy to read and follow Hey awsomsinger! Thanks very much my man. One thing I'm always trying to work on his presentation style. Trying to find a sweet spot between something that's interesting to my fellow promoters as well as myself - but not too laborious to maintain. Not an easy spot to find (drum roll please 😁) but one that's a whole lot of fun to find (another drum roll). But this one I'm really trying to keep on point and I'm even going to be condensing this some (as with the other two feds I now have afloat. Any predictions on who you think may take this whole thing in both singles and tag competitions?
