You are killing it with this fed, really enjoying the ride. Lou Thesz vs. Terry Gordy was a great match with a nice win for Thesz. Sorry to see The Destroyer drop the gold but Jimmy Snuka is a one-of-a-kind athlete so not too surprising to see him become the new American champion.

Card 027: National Wrestling Legends Alliance @ Dallas Sportatorium, Dallas, Texas
National Wrestling Legends Alliance Tag Team Title Tournament – Round One
Rock ‘n’ Roll Express defeated Hollywood Connection. A couple of agile teams clashed to open the night and the tournament. There was some controversial action mid way through the match when the referee was taken out by a Robert Gibson during a deathjump spot. Gorgeous George nearly submitted Ricky Morton with a SPINNING TOEHOLD but Morton made the ropes to keep the action going. Both teams went back and forth until the Express connected with a DOUBLE DROPKICK to Lenny Lane for the three count. Fantastics over “Dr. Death” Steve Williams & Barry Windham. Morgan Dollar has strict instructions for both teams. The fans are excited to see both teams in action and handshakes get things underway. Windham and Bobby Fulton trade moves and then the Fantastics take control with their speed and double-teaming attack. Williams gets caught up in a FANTASTIC FLIP and then a FANTASTIC CRADLE from Fulton which results in the three count. Sheepherders got past Sam Houston & Johnny Mantell by disqualification. The fans were roaring as Houston and Mantell took the fight to both Butch Miller & Luke Williams from the open bell in and out of the ring. Houston was a standout with using multiple standing toe holds to wear down his opponents. The finish was controversial as Butch Miller grabbed a chair to clobber Houston but a kick to the midsection allowed Houston to take the weapon and smash Miller with it. The referee called for the bell and Sheepherders were onto the next round.
Masked Superstar & Tully Blanchard w/J.J. Dillon beat Bruiser Costa & Disco Inferno. It is not too often that Bruiser Costa has the support of the fans but after Superstar & Blanchard corner Morgan Dollar and tell the official how to do his job, the fans are none to pleased with the team and neither is the official. Costa and Inferno keep things in their favour for the first half of the match but eventually Costa gets cut off from his corner allowing Blanchard & Superstar to go to work. Costa managed to kick out of several pin attempts by Superstar before Blanchard tags in and finishes it with a SLINGSHOT SUPLEX. National Wrestling Legends Alliance Tag Team Title Tournament – Semi-Finals
Fantastics crushed Rock ‘n’ Roll Express. The fans expected a classic but the Fantastics had other ideas quickly taking control of the match and cutting off Rick Morton from Robert Gibson. Morton kicked out after a PRESS SLAM/SPLASH but the Fantastics followed with a ROCKET LAUNCHER and picked up the pin while Bobby Fulton blocked Gibson from making the pin save.
Sheepherders beat Tully Blanchard & Masked Superstar w/J.J. Dillon. This was a wild battle that went back and forth from the outset and held the fans on the edge of their seats. Both sides picked up near falls as the match progressed. Late in the match, J.J. Dillon jumped into the action but Williams took the manager out with a clothesline. The Sheepherders then combined for a DOUBLE GUTBUSTER to Blanchard to advance to the finals. Jackie Fargo bested The Crusher in a Texas Death Match to claim the Night of Dreams Hardcore Title. It only a short time after Morgan Dollar called for the bell that things became violent. Fargo took a wrench from Crusher and used it to bust the champion open. Later, Crusher rammed Fargo face first into the ring rails several times and both men were covered in crimson. The momentum turned in favour of the challenger when Fargo used a cord to choke the life out of Crusher on the floor and in the ring. Fargo then executed a simple ATOMIC DROP and became a two time champion. National Wrestling Legends Alliance Tag Team Title Tournament – Finals
Sheepherders defeated Fantastics to win the National Wrestling Legends Alliance Tag Team Titles. Both sides were showing the effects of the two previous rounds. Tommy Rogers and Bobby Fulton managed to cut off Luke Williams and went to work. Butch Miller made the pin save after a FANTASTIC FLIP and again after a FANTASTIC CRADLE. It was clear by the speed of Morgan Dollar’s count that he wanted to see a conclusive finish to the main event. Sheepherders were able to get a tag finally and the momentum turned. The action went back and forth until Sheepherders caught Rogers with a DOUBLE GUTBUSTER and Williams cut off the pin save giving the Sheepherders the gold. Top Ten 1. Jackie Fargo, Night of Dreams Hardcore Champion (5) 2. Lou Thesz, Night of Dreams Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion (3) 3. Johnny Valentine, National Wrestling Legends Alliance Champion (1) 4. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams (2) 5. Bobo Brazil (4) 6. Masked Superstar (9) 7. Tully Blanchard (-) 8. Barry Windham (7) 9. Thoroughly enjoyed that tag title tournament even though I expected Williams & Windham to go deeper than the opening round... Impressive triumph for the Sheepherders and I expect to see a rematch between them and the Fantastics in the near future... Fun times!

Brutus Beefcake over Joe Blanchard. Beefcake controlled early but Blanchard soon took control of the action after an airplane spin. Blanchard dominated from that point. At one point, he crushed Beefcake with four consecutive deathjump knee smashes. The action ended up outside where Beefcake was able to reverse a whip and sent Blanchard into the post. Blanchard was knocked into next week and Beefcake was able to wrap on a SLEEPER and claim the comeback victory. After the match, Beefcake gives Blanchard a hair cut as the fans roar in approval!
Malia Hosaka downed Judy Martin by disqualification. Morgan Dollar has strict instructions for both women before the bell. It is back and forth from the outset. Martin takes a breather and Hosaka comes out after her. Martin bounces Hosaka face first off the ringside table and Dollar calls for the quick disqualification. Lou Albano, Greg Valentine & Larry Zbyszko destroyed Blue World Order. Blue Meanie was cut off from his partners from the opening bell. Super Nova saved Meanie from Greg Valentine’s FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK and Stevie Richards saved him after a PILEDRIVER from Larry Zbyszko. Meanie took a beating from Lou Albano before Valentine ended it with another FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK.
Mikey Whipwreck beat Justin Credible in a Texas Death Match. This was rather one sided after the opening few minutes with Whipwreck hitting all his favour spots on his opponent. The action went outside and Whipwreck lit up ringside with a drive to the floor and a tornado DDT to the floor as well. The finish came with a WHIPPER SNAPPER from Credible for what appeared to be a quick count from Morgan Dollar. Valiant Brothers squashed Too Cool. This one ended in just two moves with the Valiant Brothers connecting with a SUPER ELBOW to Scott Taylor and “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant blocking the pin save.
“The British Bulldog” Destroyed Iron Sheik. The fans were all over Sheik who told them what he thinks of them before the bell. Smith rocked Sheik with an piledriver for a two and half count and then followed with a RUNNING POWER SLAM for the win in three moves!
Buddy Rogers submitted North East Wrestling Legends Champion Jerry Lynn to win the title. The unlikely reign of Jerry Lynn came to an end Portland but not before another incredible effort by the fan favourite. Lynn took the early advantage twice catching Rogers with a CRADLE PILEDRIVER. Rogers kicked out at the last second both times. Rogers continued to take a beating but managed to catch Lynn off guard from the floor and ram Lynn’s leg into the ring post. The fans wanted a disqualification but Morgan Dollar let the action continue. Rogers was back into the match from that point but Lynn continued to show signs of life on offense. Rogers connected with deathjump knee smash to the leg of Lynn and then applied a FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE to claim the championship. James Gang stunned Night of Dreams Tag Team Champions Midnight Express w/Jim Cornette to win the title. The story in this one was both teams being able to make consistent tags to keep the momentum going back and forth. Things were just settling in when the finish came out of nowhere. Stan Lane sent B.G. James into the corner hard but James avoided Lane’s follow through charge sending Lane chest first into the corner. James quickly rolled up Lane and with his feet on the ropes earned the three count from Morgan Dollar. Cornette was furious but the decision stood and we have new champions!
Top Ten 1. Buddy Rogers, North East Wrestling Legends (2) 2. Jerry Lynn (1) 3. Greg Valentine (4) 4. Davey Boy Smith (6) 5. “Macho Man” Randy Savage (3) 6. Larry Zbyszko (7) 7. 2 Cold Scorpio (4) 8. Iron Sheik (9) 9. Steve Corino (8) 10. Mikey Whipwreck (-)

Not surprised the Nature Boy was able to claim the title, slightly underhanded tactics notwithstanding... Great to see big names like Davey Boy Smith and Randy Savage working their way up the rankings as well... Very exciting show from start to finish!
