ouch, refs controlling those last three matches but nice victory by Stars and Stripes and big upset by The Vachons. The non finishers were frustrating considering this was the one stop at the Civic Center this year. I had some high expectations heading into the event. The Vachon victory was a shocker indeed. I thought the loss might have been enough to split Hansen and Vader off into a program against each other but I am still hoping for bigger things from the team who have a rotten run with the dice The victory by Stars and Stripes has earned them a shot at the AWLA tag belts

Morgan Dollar certainly earned his money there with technical decisions helping champions retain their respective titles... Gotta expect that Crusher and the Roadies will be lobbying for rematches in the near future... Fun show! Good to see you commenting and posting again The Crusher will no doubt be looking for another shot at the AWLA title but first he was earned a shot at the Night of Dreams Hardcore Title so he could very well be a travelling champion before the next scheduled AWLA Title match. The Road Warriors have already been slotted in for the next time the NOD tag belts are scheduled in AWLA. However the Express may not be champions by that point since they a match up with NWLA champions Midnight Express

Card 021: National Wrestling Legends Alliance @ Charlotte Coliseum, Charlotte, NC Sam Houston defeated Bruiser Costa. This was a match up of power vs. speed that saw both men have their opportunities to take the victory. Houston controlled early before Costa used his weight advantage to battle back picking up a near fall after a cobra clutch suplex. The fans got behind Houston and he responded with an offensive flurry leading to a BULLDOG. Costa kicked out at the last second but Houston stayed focus and caught a rising Costa with a cross body block for the three count.
Diamond Dallas Page pinned Disco Inferno. The fans were rocking as Page came to the ring through ringside and then proceeded to dominate the action after the opening bell. Inferno managed to get a foot on the ropes after a DIAMOND CUTTER and appeared ready to make a comeback whipping Inferno into the corner but Page moved out of the way of the charge and rolled up Inferno for the win.
Gorgeous George w/Cherie Dupré downed Johnny Mantell by count-out. George was looking to make a name for himself in singles competition after failing to capture tag team gold with “Exotic” Adrian Street. Mantell proved double tough as always and went move for move with George until the action went to the floor where Dupré decked Mantell with her shoe which lead to a count-out finish. Great heat for George as he made his way to the back.
North Wrestling Legends Alliance Tag Team Champions Midnight Express w/Jim Cornette beat Taylors. The size of Tugboat Taylor proved difficult for Stan Lane & Bobby Eaton to deal with early on but when Chaz Taylor came into the match the Champions seized control of the match. Tugboat Taylor saved his son from a Double Goozle. Taylor kicked out after a Midnight Lariat but eventually Taylor had nothing leg and the Express put him away with a VEG-O-MATIC while Eaton cut off the pin save.
Sheepherders battered Fantastics. These two teams have no love from one another and the hostility was on full display from the outset. The Sheepherders started with a sneaky double team and never looked back first punishing Tommy Rogers and later cutting off Bobby Fulton. Three times the Sheepherders unleased DOUBLE GUTBUSTERS without finding victory. As well, a BATTERING RAM forced Bobby Fulton to save Rogers and later Rogers returned the favour saving Fulton after a DOUBLE GUTBUSTER. The Sheepherders followed up with RUNNING KNEE SMASH onto Fulton for the victory.
Bobo Brazil crushed Harley Race. The fans were braced for an all-out war but Brazil took control of this one from the opening bell and quickly connected with a pair of COCO BUTTS that nearly ended it. Race struggled to escape a bear hug from Brazil and then was dropped with another COCO BUTT and that was it.
Night of Dreams Women’s Champion Sherri Martel defeated Trish Stratus in a best of three falls match 2:1. Both competitors left it all in the ring in the first fall as the action went back and forth keeping the fans on edge the entire time. They went to the floor several times before Martel scored the first two count of the first fall after a clothesline nearly twisted Stratus inside out. At one point, Dr. Mike Lano got caught up in the action and was used as a human foreign object by the challenger. Status stormed back including back to back spinebusters before the action went to the floor where Martel send Stratus hard into the post. The fans were all over Martel but their mood changed when Stratus returned the favour minutes later. Stratus then connected with STRATUSFACTION to taken the opening fall. Stratus looked like she would take it in two straight dominating the early part of the second fall. However, Martel managed to catch Stratus with a knee blocking a charge to the corner. Martel followed with another wicked clothesline and then took to the top for a TOP ROPE SPLASH to even things at one fall each. Martel opened the third fall with a running knee lift and then quickly hit a TOP ROPE SPLASH and gained the three count from Morgan Dollar.
National Wrestling Legends Alliance Champion Johnny Valentine, Tully Blanchard & Masked Superstar w/J.J. Dillon battled Night of Dreams Undisputed World Champion Lou Thesz, “Dr. Death” Steve Williams & Barry Windham to a double disqualification. There were plenty of the match ups for the fans to be excited about with this much star power between the ropes but it was Williams and Valentine’s square off that rocked ringside. Both teams made tags and all six men were able to see action before Windham ended up in a fight with Valentine on the floor. Things broke down at that point between the two sides which resulted in the official calling for a double disqualification. Neither side backed down after the match and brawled their way into security which flooded the ring area to break things up while the fans went ballistic.
Top Ten 1. Lou Thesz, Night of Dreams Undisputed World Champion 2. Johnny Valentine, National Wrestling Legends Alliance Champion 3. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams 4. Bobo Brazil 5. Jackie Fargo, Night of Dreams Hardcore Champion 6. “Wild” Bull Curry 7. Gorgeous George 8. Barry Windham 9. Harley Race 10. Diamond Dallas Page

Normally I'd hate a double dq but I think it really worked for the main event. Great win by Brazil and nice to see the Midnights take a win.

Card 022: North Eastern Wrestling Legends @ Mid Hudson Civic Centre, Poughkeepsie, NY
The Quebecers crushed Too Cool. The team from Quebec was dialled in and cut off Scott Taylor from his corner from the outset. Within the opening few minutes, the Quebecers hit TOWER OF QUEBEC and a pin save from Brian Christopher kept the action going. Pierre Carl Oullett connected with a deathjump crossbody block that nearly ended it before his was joined by Jacques Rougeau for a double hot shot. Oullet blocked the pin save and the Quebecers score the first win of the night.
Steve Corino thrashed Brutus Beefcake. The fans were behind the early antics of Beefcake who was strutting around but Corino really took his opponent to the school of violence starting with a smash with a ringside weapon, in this case a steel chair. Beefcake tasted the ring rails later and was busted open. He barely beat Morgan Dollar’s ten count to keep the match going after that assault and later managed to kick out after an OLD SCHOOL EXPULSION. The finish came after Corino hit a second OLD SCHOOL EXPLUSION
2 Cold Scorpio pinned Tom Prichard. This interesting contrast of styles ended up be a fun filled ride before it was all said and done. The went back and forth for good stretch and then Prichard picked up a near fall after a Dr. Tom Bomb. Things turned and Scorpio went to work including a Tumbleweed and a Moonsault that nearly ended it. Scorpio was on his way victory when Prichard caught him on the top of the corner and slammed him to the mat. Prichard took over but the advance was short lived. Scorpio rocked Prichard with four straight Tumbleweeds but there was not victory yet as Prichard managed to avoid a splash in the corner leading to a roll up for a near pin for Prichard. However, the toll of Scorpio’s offensive attack was too much and soon Scorpio was back in control. The finish came when Scorpio planted Prichard with a Cobra Clutch Suplex and scored the three count.
Mikey Whipwreck defeated Justin Credible. Credible had been making a lot of noise about being hardcore and getting an opportunity at the Night of Dreams Hardcore Title but he made the mistake of looking past Whipwreck. The fans cheered each one of Whipwreck’s signature moves and he used them all as he carried 90 percent of this match. The finish came when Whipwreck came off the top with a cross body block deathjump that put Credible’s shoulders to the mat for the three count from Morgan Dollar. Although not a hardcore match as advertised, the fans could not have been happier with the results! [NOTE: I simply forgot that this match was a under Hardcore Rules. I did not realize until after the card was rolled out and I am not a fan of re-rolling any part of the action so I just left it as it was.]
Rockin Robin downed Tina Moretti by disqualification. Robin seized control of this one at the bell and worked the upper body of Moretti and mixed in the occasional high impact move. Moretti battled back and unleashed a series of flapjacks and bulldogs that rocked her opponent. Robin stormed back and nearly ended with a power slam. The action went back and forth. Robin whipped Moretti into the ringside table knocking the contents and occupants to the floor. They went back to the floor and Moretti grabs the spilled table and slams it onto her down opponent. The action is enough for the referee to call for the disqualification.
“The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith bested Nikolai Volkoff. Volkoff sings and the fans are all over him. This was a power fest from the outset with a lengthy lock up and struggle. Volkoff takes control after running Bulldog into the ring post shoulder first but could not get the win after hitting his BACKBREAKER DROP immediately afterward. Smith drew on the support of ringside and put on a display including back to back delayed vertical suplexes and later back to back gorilla press slams that nearly ended it. Volkoff was nearly counted out after a back body drop to the floor. Volkoff regained the ring but was clearly outmatched tonight as Smith finished it with running clotheslines.
North East Wrestling Legends Champion Jerry Lynn pinned “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Apparently against unlikely odds, Jerry Lynn has maintained a grip on the North East Wrestling Legends Title since card 04 and the fans were out to watch him attempt to do it again. The pace was quick and both men were up to the challenge. Savage sent the champion into the corner but no one was home when the Macho Man charged in leading to a quick roll up and a two count from Morgan Dollar. Lynn had Savage on the defensive and pressed the attack. DDT connected and Lynn hooked the leg for a two count. Lynn then crushed his challenger with a sunset flip power bomb and Dollar made the three count. Lynn retains again!
Night of Dreams Undisputed World Champion Lou Thesz submitted Buddy Rogers. These two last clashed on Card 10 and battled to a double disqualification. This rematch was immediately signed. The action was a human chess match from the outset. Rogers struck first with nearly regaining the title with a roll up in the corner using the ropes for leverage. Thesz came back and then began to slowly taken control of the match. He used an airplane spin twice to pick up near falls and then later put together an offensive flurry that lead to a GRECO-ROMAN BACKDROP but Rogers was not ready to go down yet. Thesz immediately attacked with a double wrist lock. The Nature Boy had no counter and indicated his submission to Morgan Dollar.
Top Ten 1. Jerry Lynn, North East Wrestling Legends Champion (2) 2. Buddy Rogers (3) 3. “Macho Man” Randy Savage (1) 4. 2 Cold Scorpio (4) 5. Greg Valentine (-) 6. “The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith (6) 7. Larry Zbyszko (-) 8. Nikolai Volkoff (5) 9. Steve Corino (10) 10. Al Snow (7)

Card 23: American Wrestling Legends Association @ International Amphitheatre, Chicago, Illinois
“Sodbuster” Kenny Jay stunned Val Venis by disqualification. Jay took a beating from bell to bell and in fact had just one offensive move the entire match but left with the winners share of the purse when Venis let his frustrations get the best of him and he cracked Jay with a chair at ringside resulting in a disqualification.
Flying Redheads over Texas Hangmen. Morgan Dollar was in charge of the action that saw the Hangmen take control early on in the match with Psycho scoring a near fall on Lyons after a running power slam. Things turned around in an unlikely fashion when Lyons showed some toughness on the floor running Psycho into the ring post. He would give Killer the same treatment minutes later. Killer was rocked and managed to make the ropes to escape Lyons’s SLEEPERHOLD. Killer was not able to get a tag and the Redheads dominated the balance of the action before putting Killer away with a sleeper, this time from Bastien.
Fabulous Moolah pinned Joyce Grable. Grable had control of this one until a SMALL PACKAGE turned things around. From that point, the match was all Moolah as she went for multiple pins before finally crushing Grable with a tombstone piledriver for the three count.
Terry Gordy defeated Bruiser Brody. The fans were prepared for all out war but Morgan Dollar had strict instructions for the competitors. Both men tore into each other but Gordy executed a counter attack piledriver and that proved to be the turning point of the match. Gordy controlled the balance of the match including a PILEDRIVER and BAMM BAMM SLAM. Brody kicked out both times but a second PILEDRIVER gave Gordy the victory.
Mad Dog Vachon downed Stan Hansen by disqualification. The finish was not a surprise to many but the action was still intense and wild from start to finish. Both competitors brawled from bell to bell. Hansen rocked Vachon early with back to back to back Borger body slams and later Vachon came back with back to back double stomps. Vachon was the only one to attempt a pin fall and that occurred after a running knee lift. Things became increasingly more violent and ended up on the floor where Hansen took his bull rope and cowbell to Vachon resulting in the disqualification. Butcher Vachon hits ringside and attacks Hansen from behind. Big Van Vader follows and it is mayhem in the ring. Chairs fly, chains swing and the blood flows from Mad Dog Vachon before the dust settles.
American Wrestling Legends Association Tag Team Champions Road Warriors w/Paul Ellering defeated Stars and Stripes. Not many gave Marcus Alexander Bagwell & Del Wilkes much chance after Morgan Dollar called for the bell but there were points in this match were the skills of the challengers were showcased. Bagwell’s speed gave him some early success and Wikes was able to go move for move with both Road Warriors. The finish came suddenly after a Wilkes and Hawk were trading move when Hawk caught Wilkes with a gorilla press slam and covered him for the win.
The Crusher beat Night of Dreams Hardcore Champion Jackie Fargo to win the title. For the third time tonight, the fans were prepared to witness chaos in the ring. Both men traded blows back and forth after Crusher had started his attack with a lengthy bear hug. Crusher grabbed a chair and cracked Fargo with the weapon across the back in the middle of the ring. Fargo refused to go down but was vulnerable enough to allow Crusher to lock in a CRUSHER NELSON. Fargo could not make the ropes and Morgan Dollar called for the bell giving Crusher the title victory.
Jimmy Snuka beat King Kong Bundy w/Rock Riddle in a Steel Cage Match. A night full of brawling and violence was topped off with a steel cage showdown. Bundy owned Snuka early on using his size and power to keep Snuka close and dish out the punishment. Bundy was not able to get Snuka in a position to go for the victory however and with the fan backing him, Snuka stormed back running Bundy into the cage wall multiple times. Bundy was bloody and battered when Snuka slammed him to the mat and then climbed to the top of the corner and then the top of the cage hitting a perfect SUPERFLY LEAP for the win.
Top Ten 1. The Crusher, Night of Dreams Hardcore Champion (1) 2. King Kong Bundy (3) 3. Terry Gordy (4) 4. The Destroyer, American Wrestling Legends Association Champion (2) 5. Del Wilkes (6) 6. Jimmy Snuka (-) 7. Mad Dog Vachon (10) 8. Stan Hansen (9) 9. Alexis Smirnoff (7) 10. Big Van Vader (8)
