News and Views: The Road Warriors are now four time tag team champions after their dominating victory over Hugh Morrus & Larry Hennig tonight. Morrus and Hennig will get their return match for the straps at National Arena in Washington (#58) . . . Former World Champion Jimmy Snuka survived a field of eight contenders to emerge as the challenger for the World Title at Showdown at Shea (#60). Promoters were quick to sign a special stipulation to the match between current champion Ted DiBiase and Snuka after the controversial way in which DiBiase reclaimed the title from the Superfly in Elizabeth, NJ (#54) and the two will meet inside a Steel Cage! DiBiase was not pleased when advised of the stipulation and has threatened legal action . . . DiBiase had better not look to the Showdown match too soon however as he will have to first defend the title against Al Snow at White Plains, NY (#57). Snow is coming off an impressive outing in tonightโs tournament as well . . . A special attraction has been announced for Showdown at Shea as American Wrestling Association World Champion Nick Bockwinkel will be action and will defend his title against Curt Hennig . . . Watch for more updates as Showdown at Shea gets closer.

Always enjoy a good top contenders tournament... And even though I was hoping that Vampiro would go the distance, I'm super stoked for the upcoming cage match between DiBiase and Snuka... Truth!

Though they didn't hold the titles long, it was cool to see Hennig and Morrus win the belts.

Another great run of shows capped off by a big night of action at MSG. It doesn't get any better than that. Congrats to Jimmy Snuka on securing the world title shot at Shead Stadium and to the Road Warriors for regaining the world tag titles. Thus far Fabulous Moolah is holding onto the ladies gold despite tough challenges from Mildred Burke and Sherri Martel. Keep the great action coming my friend.

Thanks for the feedback everyone
I hope to get through until Shea Stadium show before the legends expansion cards arrive. After that I will turn my focus to my annual legends tournament.

Card 56 - Palestra, Allentown, PA
Rock Riddle def. Ron Hutchison with a roll up after a missed charge to the corner - *. Riddle controlled most of this one and then earned some solid heat when he used the ropes for some extra leverage to ensure he picked up the three count. โExoticโ Adrian Street & Gorgeous George w/Cherie Duprรฉ def. Too Cool (Brian Christopher & Scott Taylor) when Street used a CRUCIFIX to pin Taylor - * ยฝ. George and Street looked incredible dominating in this one from start to finish first cutting off Christopher and then later Taylor. Taylor saved Christopher after both a SPINNING TOE HOLD and a CRUCIFIX before Christopher was able to finally tag out but the momentum of the encounter never changed. Konnan def. Angelo Poffo with a NIAGARA DRIVER - **. Poffo controlled the initial action but Konnan picked up the pace and used his finisher three separate times in an impressive performance. โIronโ Mike DiBiase def. Johnny Valentine by disqualification when Valentine used a chair to smash DiBiase during a brawl on the floor - * ยฝ. DiBIase managed to survive an ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER before leading the action to the floor when DiBiase introduced a chair into the brawl but Valentine gained control of the weapon and it the decision to use it cost him the match.
Jack Brisco def. Steve Corino with a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK - **. Brisco was able to get some redemption after dropping a pair of matches to the King of Old School just a few cards ago as Brisco kept control of most of this encounter and even a chair shot from Corino did not turn the match in his favour. Vampiro def. Pampero Firpo with NAIL IN THE COFFIN in a Falls Count Anywhere Match - ** ยฝ. The action went in and out of the ring with both men being thrown into the souvenir stand and later Vamprio using the ring steps to crush Firpo during a brawl on the floor. World Tag Team Champions Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal) & Paul Ellering def. Jackie Fargo, Larry Hennig & Hugh Morrus when Animal pinned Hennig after a press slam - ****. This was an incredible back and forth battle. Hennig was saved after a DOOMSDAY DEVICE and both sides waged a closely fought match with all six men seeing action before Ellering made a key defensive tag to get out of trouble to Animal who immediately pressed the nearly three hundred pound Hennig and slammed him to the mat for the win.

Nice to see Jack Brisco grab a win as well as seeing Street and George take a victory. Vampiro is a little too hardcore for Firpo as well.

Brisco shows that he's as tough as they come, taking the chairshot from Corino and still kicking.
Always enjoy a Vampiro victory... Especially when it goes hardcore... Truth!

Very cool to see Jack Brisco rebound and get a win over Steve Corino. I'm happy to see that Jack didn't get cut after the previous losses to the "King of Old School". I liked that six-man tag on top and it was also great to see Vampiro get a tough win over Pampero Firpo in the Falls Count Anywhere match.
