WEDNESDAY NIGHT WHIPLASH!
Episode #5, Year 1, Jan-31
Manhattan Center, New York, NY
Commentary: Paul Ellering and Trish Stratus
RANDY ROSE (w/ Marty Jannetty) def. BORIS ZHUKOV (w/ Nikolai Volkoff) via pinfall.
- A wild brawl outside the ring nearly caused the referee to toss out the match. Getting back on track, Rose finished Volkoff with a ROSE BOMB.
- Tokens: n/a
- Jannetty was eliminated from last week's Battle Royal by Volkoff and was pleased that Rose was able to help even the score between them and the Russians. Based on the post-match taunting, it seemed that both teams remained hungry for another encounter.
In the Ring: Harley Race called out the new PCWA Global Heayweight Champion, reminding everyone that Randy Savage needed help from his manager, Sherri Martel, and a cheap shot with the timekeeper's bell to knock him out of the tournament. He demanded a chance to remedy the situation and Commissioner Dillon appeared to offer him that opportunity. Harley Race will challenge Randy Savage for the PCWA Global Heavyweight Championship at Brutal Planet!
JERRY LYNN def. DAVID TAYLOR via pinfall.
- There was plenty of tension between these two competitors as each blamed the other for his elimination from last week's Battle Royal. Lynn came in hot and offered Taylor very little chance to fight back, pinning him with a sunset flip powerbomb.
- Tokens: Taylor 1
Backstage: Jimmy Snuka made no excuses for losing at Pride & Glory, but was certain that DiBiase had more than just a fist inside his black glove. DiBiase attacked Snuka from behind, leading to a wild brawl. Security was needed to pull them apart and Commissioner Dillon decided that since the two men liked to fight, they would face each other in a Big Apple Street Fight next week!
BARRY WINDHAM & TULLY BLANCHARD def. 2 COLD SCORPIO & MAGNUM T.A. via pinfall.
- Scorpio and Magnum each wanted to get a little payback against the individuals that eliminated them from last week's Battle Royal. Windham obviously did not trust Blanchard due to the betrayal that occurred during the same Battle Royal. Despite their inability to function as a cohesive unit, the individual efforts of Windham and Blanchard were enough to scratch up a win. Scorpio missed a flip leg drop from the apron to the floor and Blanchard caused further damage with a throat drop across the rails. Taking complete control, Windham finished Scorpio with a LARIAT.
- Tokens: n/a
- Very pleased with the outcome, Commissioner Dillon announced two separate matches for Brutal Planet - Barry Windham vs. Magnum T.A. and Tully Blanchard vs. 2 Cold Scorpio.
Backstage: With his most recent client out with an injury, Rock Riddle offered his managerial services to Iron Sheik and his close allies, Boris Zhukov and Nikolai Volkoff. As long as Riddle was willing to condemn his capitalistic views, Sheik said they could work out an arrangement.
IRON SHEIK (w/ Rock Riddle) def. LOU THESZ via pinfall.
- This match was the result of a backstage confrontation between these two men during Pride & Glory. A well timed distraction by Riddle prevented Sheik from being disqualified during a brawl outside the ring. Sheik used his Loaded Boot to bust Thesz wide open. Blood loss took its toll, impairing Thesz's vision and making it difficult for him to continue. Missing a running tackle, Thesz crashed into the turnbuckles and Sheik rolled him up for a three count.
- Tokens: Thesz 7
- Sheik suffered an injury and will be out of action for 1 month.
