WORLDWIDEwith Bob Caudle and Gordon Solie Bob: "Welcome to Worldwide. As the Road Warriors continue to dominate the tag team championship, this edition features major contenders from around the NWA who are lining up to be the next to attempt to knock off the kingpins of the division." Gordon: "Indeed, and in our main event two teams who could easily give the Road Warriors or anyone in the world a run for their money. Steve Williams and Terry Gordy take on Bruiser Brody and Stan Hansen." Bob: "But first we head down to Florida, where Marcus Bagwell has bounced back with his new partner Scotty Riggs as the American Males take on Dr Tom Prichard and Jimmy Del Rey, the Heavenly Bodies." Heavenly Bodies defeated The American Males with Prichard pinned Bagwell.Really fantastic action to kick off the show. Bagwell and Riggs started strong, but the Bodies took over. Bagwell kicked out of six different pin attempts before finally falling to a double suplex followed by a Prichard "super kick" enzuigiri. Bob: "The latest incarnation of the Heavenly Bodies looking strong on this occassion, but I expect big things out of the American Males in the future." Gordon: "No doubt about it. And not the Minnesota territory takes center stage where Playboy Buddy Rose and Doug Somers face Baron Von Raschke and Steve O." Buddy Rose and Doug Somers defeated Baron Von Raschke and Steve O when Somers pinned Steve O. Slow start with plenty of stalling, as is the style in Minnesota. When the action kicked into high gear Baron took over on Rose but got put on defense and tagged out to Steve O. Somers and Rose took advantage of the youngster and in the end Rose kept Baron distracted while Somers used a gut wrench gutbuster to pick up the pin.Gordon: "Rose and Somers continue their winning ways, but I suspect they would have a much harder road to victory had Baron's regular tag team partner The Crusher not been injured at the hands of Larry "The Axe" Hennig prior to this bout."Bob: " Agreed. Texas time now, as the vile and frankly highly annoying Tony Clifton brings his team into battle against the odd couple team of Don Curtis and Bull Curry."Lightning Rod Fenton and Big Bully Busick won by disqualification over Bull Curry and Don Curtis. That wild chair shot on level 3 cost Bull and Curtis the match, as it tends to do every time Curry gets in the ring. Wild brawl from start to finish, and then that violent finish of course. Fenton took the chair and Busick pulled him out of the ring to prevent further damage as Clifton hurled threats and insults at the opponents as he ushered his men back down the aisle. Bill Apter: "Fans, we are in the Hot Seat with a very special edition as I welcome the presumptive NEW NWA women's champion, Jazz. I have the title belt in hand and have been authorized to award it to Jazz, as both of her potential finals opponents were eliminated via double countout in the semi-final match." Jazz: "Bill, I've had to work for everything I have. I've never had anything just handed to me. And I'm not about to start now. I DO NOT accept this title belt. I want a match sanctioned with me, Candi, and Mildred in a triple threat match. No disqualification, winner takes all. And that winner will be me. NWA, make it happen!" Apter: "There you have it, fans. Jazz demands a final match to determine definitively who is the one and only, undisputed NWA women's world champion." Bobo Brazil and Johnny Valentine won by disqualification over Killer Kowalski and Fritz Von Goering.Valentine stepped in to team up with his former enemy once again, and once again they had success. This was a very decent, hard hitting affair. In the end Valentine had Von Goering in trouble outside the ring when Kowalski came around the corner and hit him from behind with the ring bell. Brazil rushed over to make the save and chase the Germans away. Bob: "Hot action from start to finish there. And now we head to Japan for a HUGE main event."Gordon: "A veritable dream match, if you will, with definite tag team title implications."Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody defeated Steve Williams and Terry Gordy when Brody pinned Williams. Wow, this was everything you could hope for. Back and forth brawling, intense action, near falls aplenty at the end. Gordy saved Williams from a pin after the running leg drop, then Hansen came in to kick of a team fight. Hansen and Gordy brawled on the floor while Brody hit a big boot and got the pin.

NWA presents California Championship Wrestling at the Cow Palace. Iron Mike DiBiase defeated Angelo Poffo after a top rope knee to the back. This was an evenly contested match that nearly went the fifteen minute time limit. Poffo seemed to be in control until DiBiase made the late comeback for the win.
Bob Orton pinned Joe Blanchards aftera piledriver. Referee Joey Marella had his hands full for this one. Blanchard slapped on the ABDOMINAL STRETCH but Orton made it to the ropes. The action spilled to the floor where Orton took over. He tossed Blanchard back into the ring and used the piledriver for the pin.
Bobo Brazil defeated Fritz Von Goering with the COCO BUTT. Dick Woehrle was the referee in charge of this match, and he had his fill with the dirty tactics and brawling by the time this one was done. Bobo hit the Coco Butt and Dick laid the quick count to get it over with.
Ox Baker won by disqualification over Gorgeous Geoge (w/Cherie Dupree). George his behind his valet at the outset, then attacked from behind to get the match started. Baker was too tough for George in the ring, so the Human Orchid headed for the floor. Baker chased and was pounding on Goerge when Dupre rushed over and jumped on Baker's back to get him to stop. The referee Joey Marella would not tolerate this behavior and called for the bell.
Johnny Valentine pinned Killer Kowalski after an ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER. Incredible brawl. Lots of hard hitting action and fighting in and out of the ring. Valentine ended up on top at the end, but the match could have easily gone either way.
The Destroyer won by countout over Dick Hutton. Neither man could keep the other one down. After twelve minutes the bout ended up on the floor where Destroyer downed Hutton with a suplex. Destryer made it back into the ring but Hutton could not answer the count of ten and Destroyer was awarded the match.
Jim Londos pinned Nature Boy Buddy Rogers to defend the Pacific Heavyweight championship. The kingpin of the territory successfully defended his crown yet again. A+ type of match and worthy of main event status. Rogers sustained eight pin attempts but finally fell to the aeroplane spin on the ninth to give the champion the win.

As we tour the territories.... AWA CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING(using the Prime Time Wrestling card for booking assist) Larry Nelson: "Welcome once again to another exciting hour of AWA Championship wrestling, the major league of professional wrestling. Let's get started right away as we go to the Showboat in Las Vegas for a match involving exciting newcomer to the area, slick Ric McCord. Ric McCord defeated Kenny Jay after a side saddle suplex and pin.Jay backed McCord into the ropes at the bell and delivered a few hard forearm shots, but McCord came firing back with his own forearm smashes and took over. McCord picked Jay apart for a few minutes before getting the pin. Larry Nelson: "Now standing by with comments, a man with a lot on his mind and a grudge to settle tonight, The Crusher." CRUSHER cut a fired up promo about getting his hands on Larry Hennig tonight and busting him up real bad. He said then it's beer, big beautiful "dollies", and dancing all night long in celebration. Larry Nelson: "That will be our big main event, but now let's get back to the Showboat and a match involving a man Ric McCord still has a score to settle with, Mr Electricity Steve Regal. Steve Regal defeated Jake Milliman via pinfall.Regal controlled the early part of the match until Miliman blocked and countered a suplex attempt to go on the offensive. Regal cut him off and finished him off after a big elbow drop. Ken Resnick: "Fans, we're standing by at ringside now with a pair of men getting ready to reckon with an enraged Baron Von Rascke. Buddy Rose, Doug Somers, why in the WORLD would you want to press your luck with a man as dangerous as The Clawmaster?" Rose: "We are here to make a name for ourselves and what better way than to start at the top. Besides, there's two of us and as long as the Crusher is busy with Larry Hennig, only one of him." Somers: "They say don't kick a man when he's down, but what better time is there? He's that much closer to your foot. I'm about to get in the ring with Von Raschke and keep kicking until he stays down." BARON VON RASCKE rushes out and attacks Rose and Somers. Rose gets knocked into the first row and Somers is tossed into the ring for the next match. Baron Von Raschke won by disqualification over Doug Somers. Not entirely unpredictable, as the action spilled out to the floor where Rose was waiting to attack Baron from behind. The duo was putting the boots to Baron on the floor when PAMPERO FIRPO made a surprise appearance, rushing out with a folding chair in hand to chase away Rose and Somers. Ken Resnick: "At ringside once again, this time with Baron and Pampero Firpo, who has just made a shocking debut here in the AWA." Firpo: "Ooooh yeah! I came here to visit and watch the action from the back, but I could not stand by and let those guys take advantage of my friend the Baron. So Baron, maybe I stick around and maybe we team up to take out those goons." The Flying Redheads defeated The Long Riders when Lyons pinned Wild Bill.Great action from bell to bell. Lyons and Bastien got Bill isolated in the ring and Lyons got the pin after a rapid fire series of dropkicks followed by a crosst bodyblock as Bastien kept Scott from breaking up the pin. Larry Nelson: "What an exciting night and we've got one more match to go. But now, I'm standing here in the studio with our heavyweight champion, Nick Bockwinkel." Nick: "Correction: you are standing beside THE heavyweight champion. Not just of this area, but as far as I'm concerned the uncrowned heavyweight champion of the entire world. And just as soon as Jack Brisco quits ducking me I will prove it beyond a shadow of anybody's doubt." Larry: "Certainly as Mr Brisco defends the title around the world a trip to Minnesota should be in the cards and I would think he'd welcome the opportunity to defend his title against you, Mr Bockwinkel." Nick: "If he welcomes defeat he is a greater fool than he looks. Which is saying something. Consider the gauntlet laid down and the challenge officially issued then. And that's all I have to say to you tonight, Larry. Good night." The Crusher won by disqualification over Larry The Axe Hennig. You could throw the rulebook out the window for the one, except referee Dick Wohrle would not. So when the action got too intense on the arena floor he had no choice but to get fed up with it and disqualify Hennig when he introduced the ring bell into the action. Crusher fought back and the two brawled all the way back to the locker room.

And NOW, we return to the Mid-Atlantic for NWA CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING as always with your hosts Tony and David Tony and David did a rundown of the action scheduled to take place and then were joined by NWA light heavyweight champion DISCO INFERNO to provide commentary on the first match. Jerry Brisco defeated Joel Deaton with an Oklahoma Side Roll.Deaton came on strong in the opening minutes, but Brisco fought back and got the convincing pinfall win. Following the match Brisco went over to talk to Tony and David. Disco backed up and hid behind David Crockett. He said the last two times Brisco got anywhere near him sucker punched him and outside of an officially sanctioned match that is behavior unbecoming of a sportsman. Disco said Jerry wants a title match, but instead he's getting a restraining order. DI pulled out a paper and handed it to Tony, who gave it to Jerry. Brisco read it and looked disgusted. He asked "Who in the world hires an attorney named Rob Carny anyway? And what kind of champion ducks a title match in this fashion?" Jerry said if that's the way he wants to play it then he'll leave it up to the championship committee to decide where they go from here. The West Hollywood Blondes beat the Rock N Roll Express when Lenny pinned Gibson.Oh, you read that right. The Blondes got the jump before the bell as the RnR were heading to the ring, but the Express quickly countered and Ricky went on offense against Riddle. The action was hot and heavy with the Blondes actually holding their own and putting Ricky in jeapardy until he made the tag out to Robert. After more back and forth action Robert was in trouble when Riddle tagged out to Lenny Lane. Lenny hit a gut wrench power bomb, hooked the tights, and the three count was made before Ricky could even respond. *Robert needed a "3" to kick out and the roll was a "3". Had I known the dice were going to do that Ricky would have tried a pin save. Go figure! Magnum TA joined Tony and David next. He said Tully Blanchard and Melina keep coming out saying Magnum should know when to quit and that he should just go away. Magnum stated that one thing he's always been told is that he never knows when to quit and he's not about to learn now. Next week he gets another shot at Tully Blanchard and this time he will shut him up and reposition himself to win back the US championship from Masked Superstar. Thunderbolt Patterson and Johnny Mantell was declared a no contest when THE MOONDOGS ran out and attacked Patterson before the bell.Rex and Spot made their shocking debut by rushing the ring and jumping Patterson as Mantell directed traffic. Finally JERRY BRISCO raced out holding a tire iron to chase them away. Mantell and The Moondogs went over to talk to Tony and David as Jerry helped Thunderbolt in the ring. Mantell said he told everyone he was going to recruit some heavy hitters to his side and now they know he was serious. He said Rex and Spot are here to wreak havoc and destroy anyone Johnny Mantell tells them to, and that list begins with Thunderbolt Patterson. In a special challenge match, Exotic Adrian Street defeated Precious Paul Ellering thanks to help by The Barbarian.Paul started off quick with a shoulder tackle followed by a running knee lift and dropkick. The two fought for several minutes before Street tossed Paul into the ropes, where Barbarian tripped his leg from ringside. Paul stumbled forward and Adrian used the CRUCIFIX for the pin. OF COURSE, all hell broke loose after the match as the Road Warriors rushed out and began to brawl with the Powers Of Pain yet again. It took a dozen men to separate the teams and restore order. Manny Fernandez and Jimmy Valiant beat The Grapplers when Manny pinned Grappler #1.Fantastic main event action as the most popular duo in the territory once again came out victorious after roughly fifteen minutes of action. Grappler had Jimmy in trouble at one point and delivered the LOADED BOOT as Grappler 2 held off Manny, but Jimmy managed to kick out. Jimmy later hit the BOOGIE WOOGIE ELBOW on Grappler 2 but JJ Dillon distracted the referee to break the pin attempt. Finally, with everyone nearing exhaustion because of the grueling pace of the match, it was Manny with cross bodyblock off the top rope on Grappler 1 to score the pinfall victory. After the bout, as Jimmy took to the crowd to celebrate with the fans, Manny spoke with Tony and David. He said you've got the Rock N Roll Express, The West Hollywood Blondes, and the POwers of Pain all wanting to claim they are the number one team around here. But everyone can tell who the real top contenders are and he's officially making the challenge for an NWA world tag team title match.

NWA Worldwide with Gordon Solie and Bob Caudle Bob: "We have an exciting night of action heading your way as we take a look at what's happening around the National Wrestling Alliance." Gordon: "Kicking things off, we join a war of a match already in progress from the Domincan Republic as we see the closing minutes of Harley Race challenging local folk hero and champion Jack Veneno." Harley Race won by disqualification over Jack Veneno.Veneno kicked out of a piledriver then went on a rampage in the final moments of the bout. Harley retreated to the arena floor, but Jack gave chase. Race tried to hit the local hero with a chair, but Jack Veneno blocked, took the chair, and hit Harley instead. The ref had no choice but the disqualify. Race was a bloody mess as he stumbled back down the aisle while Veneno celebrated in the ring with his people. Gordon: "Race the winner by disqualification in this international affair, but wearing the crimson mask back down the aisle he didn't not look the part of the victor." Bob: "No sir. Next up, we head to Harley Race's current home territory of Missouri where Tiger Conway battles the Russian Ivan Koloff." Ivan Koloff pinned Tiger Conway Sr after the RUSSIAN SICKLE.A nice five minute match, with Conway trying to negate the size and strength of Koloff by using his speed advantage. In the end Koloff caught him and put him down with the Sickle for the win. Bob: "The situation surrounding the NWA women's championship is about to be decided now, as the unique resolution to the double disqualification in the semi-final match between Mildred Burke and Candi Divine was final entrant Jazz demanding a three way match to decide the ultimate winner and new NWA women's champion." Gordon: "Anything can happen in this sort of volatile situation and it's anybody's guess as to who will come out the winner." Jazz defeated Mildred Burke and Candi Divine by pinning Burke to become the NWA women's champion.Candi began the match making threats to Jazz and Burke at the bell. The two ladies double teamed Divine and tossed her into the coner post before attacking each other. Burke went for a pin but Divine recovered and broke it up. Candi had a moment in the spotlight but could not capitalize and Jazz got back into the action. After several more minutes of brawling in and out of the ring Candi was down and out on the arena floor while Jazz pinned Burke to secure the championship. (note: The win made sense and Jazz would have kind of looked silly after calling for the three lady match and losing. Still, I was halfway pulling for the Candi Divine upset because it would have been an interesting story to play out. I honestly have no idea what I do with the title from here, but I had the women cards and wanted to use them. I'll think of something) Gordon: "Congratulations to a deserving champion, Jazz. And now we go to our featured contest down in Louisiana as The Fantastics battle Jim Cornette's Midnight Express."
Bob: "As soon as both teams showed up in that area it was almost a matter of time before the rivalry would heat back up and indeed it has." The Midnight Express and The Fantastics wrestled to a double disqualification.Top level tag team match. Both teams seemingly had the win at different points, only for the opposing team to make the pin save. Finally Tommy Rogers gor the hot tag and came in strong on Bobby. He went for a pin after a series of dropkicks, but Dennis made the save. Fulton came in to brawl with Dennis as Tommy went to work in the corner on Eaton. The referee could not restore order and called for the bell, declaring the bout a double DQ. Bob: "Nothing was settled between these teams tonight, but join us here next time when we hopefully see the resolution to the ongoing family feud between the Armstrongs and the Gilberts as they finally meet locked inside of a steel cage." Gordon: "It's a real shame it has to come to this, but no matter what happens the fans will be the winner as that should be a match for the ages. So long everybody."

SATURDAY NIIIIGHT!with Schiavone and Crockett, David Crockett Tony and David did the show open and were joined by Rock Riddle and Lenny Lane, the West Hollywood Blondes. Riddle did the talking, because he's really good at saying a lot of words without taking a breath. Rock bragged about their win over the Rock N Roll Express last week and said Valiant and Fernandez need to wait in line for a title shot at the Road Warriors. Lenny jumped in and challenged Manny and Jimmy to a number one contenders match next week so they can prove the West Hollywood BLondes are the best. Rock got mad at him and dragged his partner away. "Looks like trouble in paradise," David quipped as they left. And then Tony got the show back on track by introducing Commissioner Bill Watts. Watts wasted no time calling into question the "restraining order" Disco Inferno presented against Jerry Brisco last week and demanded the light heavyweight champion come out to hear what he has to say. Disco complied, but maybe he shouldn't have because Watts said "FIRST OF ALL, THERE IS NO SUCH LAWYER AS ROB CARNY AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE YOU GOT THAT BOGUS RESTRAINING ORDER BUT THE JIG IS UP. EITHER YOU GET IN THAT RING, RIGHT HERE AND NOW, AND DEFEND THAT TITLE OR YOU FORFEIT IT IMMEDIATELY!" Disco tried to protest, but Watts grabbed him by the arm and dragged him to the ring, where JERRY BRISCO was waiting for his title match.
Jerry Brisco finally defeated Disco Inferno to become new light heavyweight champion.Brisco controlled the early going, but Disco fought back. After a piledriver and cover it looked like Inferno may just have Brisco's number, but Jerry kicked out right before the three count (needed a roll of five and got it exactly). The bout went on for over ten minutes before Brisco finally used the OKLAHOMA SIDE ROLL for the big win. Brisco celebrated and the fans went wild as they cut to commercial break. Back from the break, Tony and David were joined by Magnum TA. Tony said this is the week he steps in the ring with Tully Blanchard one more time and hopes to get over the hump and back into the US title picture. Magnum said there is no try, only do (kinda parapharsing a little green Jedi), and nothing can stop him now. David warned Magnum to watch out because Melina is as dangerous as she is sexy. Magnum scoffed and challenged her to try her best. Bob Roop demolished George South and won with a shoulder breaker.Roop went right after South at the bell and never let up in a one-sided two minute win. Roop talked to Tony and David after his win. He said as far as he's concerned nothing is settled between him and Bob Backlund. The referee was biased when they met two weeks ago and if he hadn't been disqualified in the first fall Backlund would have been beaten in two straight. Roop warned that Backlund had better have eyes in the back of his head because Roop could be waiting around any corner. The Moondogs (w/Johnny Mantel) defeated David Isley and Tommy Angel.A quick and dominant win for the Moondogs as they cut off the ring and beat Isley with ease, not even letting Angel get tagged into the match. (note: old black and white bootleg Moondogs cards, because obviously the new official ones are coming out sometime between next week and next year) JJ DILLON led MASKED SUPERSTAR to the interview area. Dillon said Superstar continues to dominate as the United States champion so the next logical step is for him to receive a world title match. Tony said the champion Jack Brisco is currently on a nationwide tour defending his title against the top contenders such as Nick Bockwinkel in Minnesota and Dutch Mantell in Memphis. Superstar said it's convenient for him not to be in Atlanta where the real top contender, the Masked Superstar, is currently standing. BOB BACKLUND entered the scene and said Superstar has been defending his title, but the way he's been doing it is underhanded and a disgrace to the championship. He challenged Superstar to a match on the spot, but JJ Dillon interrupted. He said Backlund hasn't earned that privilage and Superstar isn't prepared for a match besides. Backlund said he remembers JJ Dillon being a pretty competent professional wrestler before he became a professional loud mouth, so maybe he's interested in answering the challenge instead. David Crockett laughed, hooted and hollered, and goaded JJ until Dillon agreed. Bob Backlund pinned JJ Dillon after an ATOMIC DROP.Dillon put up a fight, but was obviously no match for the All American. Backlund kept his eyes on Masked Superstar the entire time he was going for the pin to make sure the masked man didn't try to interfere. Following the bout BOB ROOP tried to roll into the ring and jump Bob from behind. Bob saw him out of the corner of his eyes, ducked, and sent Roop sailing over the top rope. Referees and security quickly intervened to keep Roop from getting back in the ring. BILL WATTS made another appearance on the show and asked Backlund if he wants to settle it with Roop next week. Backlund answered in the affirmative and Watts scheduled A STEEL CAGE MATCH between the two to make sure there is a decisive winner and no "funny business". Tully Blanchard pinned Magnum TA thanks to help from Melina.Well, Magnum challenged her to try. A great, intense match. In the end Magnum went for a pin near the ropes and Melina reached into her purse, grabbed a spray bottle, and sprayed something in Magnum's eyes. TA was in pain and disoriented as Tully recovered and rolled him up for the pin. Referees ran out and tended to TA with water and a towel for his eyes as Tully and Melina went over to Tony and David. Tully laughed at "how stupid Magnum really is" then Melina said it wasn't a wise idea to take her lightly. Once again Melina advised Magnum to quit while he's behind and still has a career left to salvage.

A Christmas Cardfrom Greensboro, North Carolina
Ranger Ross defeated Mr Hughes with a top rope body press. A solid opening match saw Hughes throw Ross (on loan from the Florida territory) around the ring for a while until Ross used his superior agility to get back in the match and go on to the win.
Johnny Saint defeated Dirty Frank Dalton with the Three In One. Saint made a triumphant return to the US, but it was not easy as Dalton threw every dirty tactic he could at Saint in hopes of the upset. Saint survived five near falls on his way to the win.
The Grapplers and Masked Superstar beat Brad Armstrong, Jimmy Valiant, and Manny Fernandez when Superstar pinned Valiant. Armstrong was seen in the territory for the first time in a long time, coming to the aid of his friend Valiant and filling in for the Patriot who was unable to appear. This was a really good six-man battle. Fernandez seemed to have Grappler 2 pinned but JJ made the save. Eventually during a team fight in the ring Superstar got the drop on Jimmy and scored the pin.
NWA women's champion Jazz defeated Candi Divine to successfully defend the title. Jazz made her first appearance as champion and defended the title in somewhat easy fashion, getting the win with the STF.
Jonny Mantell won by disqualification over Thunderbolt Patterson. This one was fought like the grudge match it is. In the end Patterson got carried away during a fight on the arena floor and used the hammer from the timekeeper's table to attack Mantell. Johnny headed for the locker room and the referee was forced to disqualifiy Patterson.
The Road Warriors w/Paul Ellering defeated The Powers Of Pain w/Adrian Street to defend the world tag team championship. A classic power struggle, but once again Warlord and Barbarian came close but were just not up to the task of defeating the Road Warriors. Adrian Street was negated at ringside at the end of the match as his old rival JOHNNY SAINT came out to distract him as Hawk and Animal set up Barbarian for the DOOMSDAY DEVICE and the pin.
As the ring crew was setting up the cage for the main event, TONY SCHIVONE announced the arrival of an "exciting newcomer to the area", WILDFIRE TOMMY RICH. "Did somebody say something about fired up?" Rich asked and the crowd went wild. Rich said he's in the Mid Atlantic area because he hears that's where the hottest competition is and so that's where he needs to be. Tony asked Rich is there's anyone he has his eyes on as a first challenge in the area. Tommy was cagey saying he's seen a few guys he wants a shot at, but the top of the food chain is Masked Superstar and the United States championship so that's his goal in the long run. Tony thanked Rich for his time and told the fans that following a short intermission it will be time for the main event of the evening. Bob Backlund defeated Bob Roop in a bloody steel cage match. Roop wasted no time tearing into Backlund at the bell, but Backlund showed his fire and gave as good as he received. Both men used the cage to inflict damage on the opponent on numerous occassions, but in the end Backlund managed use his ATOMIC DROP to send Roop face first into the side of the cage and set him up for the pin, seemingly putting an end to their feud.

NWA WORLDWIDEwith Gordon Solie and Bob CaudleBob: "Welcome to an exciting edition of NWA Worldwide. Fans, we promised you a main event match between the Armstrongs and The Gilberts and that match will be seen tonight. But we had a HUGE event take place in Minnesota this past week when NWA world heavyweight champion JACK BRISCO traveled north to confront Nick Bockwinkel and answer his challenge after Bockwinkel made some highly inflammatory comments on a television broadcast just a few weeks ago." Solie: "Indeed. Jack should know better than to meet the viper in his own nest, but nevertheless we will see what went down when those two met in the squared circle and I assure you it's a can't miss event." Bob: "But first, we head to Florida as Mike Graham tries to tame the beast that is The Laughing Man Hugh Morrus." Hugh Morrus defeated Mike Graham with NO LAUGHING MATTER Hugh got hold of Graham and made quick work of the much smaller opponent. Mike just couldn't get in a groove and Morrus used a power bomb to set up his version of the moonsault for the pin. Gordon: "It just was not Mike Graham's night on this occassion, but should they meet again Hugh Morrus will not be so lucky, believe you me. And now we stay in Florida for a big return match as The American Males tangle with The Heavenly Bodies." American Males defeated The Heavenly Bodies (Prichard and Del Rey) when Bagwell pinned Prichard.Outstanding tag team action that could have gone either way. Very nice ebb and flow type of match. In the end Riggs was fighting with Jimmy as Bagwell went to the top rope for a cross body press on Prichard for the pin. Bob:"A big win for the popular, up and coming duo. And now we take a look at action from Texas, where Don Curtis once again steps in the ring with heated rival Rod Fenton. As always, the manager Tony Clifton is in the corner of Fenton, but Curtis has the wild man Bull Curry backing him up." Don Curtis made quick work of Lightning Rod Fenton.Curtis overcame the early offense and cruised to a win with the SLEEPER HOLD as Wild Bull made sure Tony Clifton didn't try to interfere. After the match Clifton got in the ring and was irrate at Fenton for "embarrassing him like that". He continued to yell at Fenton and finally slapped his protege in the face. Fenton had enough and chased Tony Clifton out of the ring and straight back down the aisle to the locker rooms. Solie:"We may have seen the last of that partnership. And if we have seen the last of Tony CLifton as well I will not shed a tear." Bob:"I doubt many would. Now we go to the HUGE match from Alabama where The Arstrongs meet the Gilberts inside a steel cage." Brad, Bob, and Brian Armstrong defeated Eddie, Tommy, and Doug Gilbert in a cage match when Brad pinned Doug. All out family feud ensued in this hotly contested bout. Bob started strong against Tommy, but got in trouble as the Gilberts tagged in and out to wear the patriarch of the Armstrongs down. He finally made the tag and Brad came in strnog. After nearly fifteen minutes of action it was finally Brad hitting the Russian Leg Sweep on Doug to seal the deal and give the Armstrongs the victory. Gordon:"And now we go to Minnesota where, as we stated at the beginning of the broadcast, Jack Brisco travelled to confront the challenge of Nick Bockwinkel. First we see the events from early in the AWA broadcast where Larry Nelson interviewed Brisco and was interrupted by Bockwinkel. And then the ensuing bout that took place as the night's main event." Footage of Larry Nelson talking to Jack Brisco. Brisco took exception to the things Bockwinkel said about him a few weeks ago and said he was there to shut the challengers mouth. Bockwinkel interrupted and said he was not only going to NOT shut up, he was going to put his money where his mouth is. He is offering ten thousand dollars of his own money and he is giving up his AWA Minnesota championship tonight if Brisco will step in the ring with him in the main event. Brisco told Bock a fool and his money are soon parted and said he needed to go get ready to defend the NWA title. Bob:"And that's how the night began, but nobody was ready for how it would end. Let's take a look at the main event for the NWA world heavyweight title." Nick Bockwinkel defeated Jack Brisco via sleeper hold to become the NEW NWA world heavyweight champion.Brilliant mat action by two of the best in the game. In the end Brisco had the figure four on Bockwinkel, but Nick managed to make it to the ropes. Jack picked him up and used a gut wrench backbreaker to put the challenger back down, but Nick rolled out of the ring. Brisco gave chase, but was distracted when LARRY ZBYSZKO, who was providing color commentary at ringside, got up and got in Brisco's face. This gave Nick a chance to recover and knock the champion head first into the ring post. He rolled Jack back into the ring and applied the sleeper hold for the shocking win. After the match Bockwinkel was awared the belt in the ring and grabbed the microphone. He said Brisco was a foolish man to doubt him and now everyone knows the Minnesota territory is where the real action is and Nick Bockwinkel has cemented his position at the top. He said whether it's LA, Atlanta, of Tokyo soon the entire world will know what the fans of the AWA and the intelligent fans around the world already know, and that's the fact that Nick Bockwinkel is the greatest of all time. THE MOTHERSHIIIIP AKA World Championship Wrestling Saturday Night with Tony and David Tony and David opened the show with the announcement that there is a NEW NWA world heavyweight champion, and we will hear from him later on in the program. They then brought in BOB BACKLUND to talk about his Christmas Eve cage match with Bob Roop. Backlund said he thinks he's finally settled things with Roop and it's time to look to the next step in his ascention up the ladder in the NWA, which is the United States champion Masked Superstar. David talked about Bob's beatdown of Superstar's manger JJ Dillon last week in a sanctioned match and Bob said Dillon is still a tough man, but he's not the United States champion and Superstar cannot duck him for long. Tony thanked him for his time and threw it to the ring for the opening bout. Ranger Ross defeated Bruiser Costa with the COMBAT KICK.Costa brought the heat in this one. Ross started with a fireman's carry, but Costa backed into the corner to consult with his invisible manager Alex. That apparently worked as Costa went on the offensive and nearly got the wn. Ross ended up making the comeback to get the pin after his Combat Kick. Tony and David were interrupted by EXOTIC ADRIAN STREET. Street was furious that Johnny Saint is back in the territory, and even worse he came out and disupted the Powers Of Pain's title match with the Road Warriors on Christmas Eve in Greensboro. JOHNNY SAINT appeared and said he's back because he always finishes what he starts and he had unfinished business with Street in the ring. Street said they can finish it right now and the men brawled to the ring. Adrian Street and Johnny Saint wrestled to a double countout. The dice could not have been kinder to me here. Great action and hard brawling that ended up out of the ring. Both wrestlers were to roll disqualification and both failed, meaning a double countout as they fought on the arena floor until they could be broken up by staff and security. Footage was shown from NICK BOCKWINKEL's big NWA world title win over Jack Brisco. Then Tony welcomed out the new NWA world champion. Nick said there was never any doubt who the best in the world really is, and he now has the title to prove it. Nick told Tony and David that he hates travelling to holes in the wall and southern states but as NWA champion it comes with the territory, so here he is. Tony asked who he sees as his greatest challenger now and Bockwinkel said as far as he's concerned they are all the same and can line up to get knocked down. Tony thanked him for his time and Nick responded "The pleasure is all yours". US champion Masked Superstar defeated George South in a non-title match.
Not much to write about here. Superstar attacked at the bell and won with a spinning neckbreaker in less than a minute. JJ DILLON and MASKED SUPERSTAR appeared to talk with Tony and David. Superstar said the challengers are lining up. First Backlund and then Tommy Rich made himself known in Greensboro. But they will all fail just like everyone else who has tried to take the United States championship. Dillon spoke next and warned Backlund that he got lucky last week because JJ wasn't ready, but next time he meets either Dillon or the US champion he won't be so lucky. Thunderbolt Patterson (w/Jerry Brisco) defeated Johnny MantellAnother big brawl between heated rivals. Brisco was there to watch out for the Moondogs, and it was successful on this occassion. As Jerry held off the Moondogs with a steel chair Patterson used a waistlock atomic drop to get the win. After the match Mantell led the Moondogs to the interview area, where he challenged Brisco and Thunderbolt to meet his team in the ring next week. After Mantell and the Moondogs left TULLY BLANCHARD and MELINA arrived on the scene. Melina told a swooning David that she always gets what she wants and she got it last week when Tully once again defeated Magnum TA. Tully said Magnum is cursed, can't win in the territory, and needs to pack it up and quit. He said TA is tough but he's too stupid to know when he's beat. The West Hollywood Blondes DEFEATED Jimmy Valiant and Manny Fernandez to earn a world tag team title match. Yeah, IDK either. These guys just keep winning. After some incredible action Riddle locked in the figure four sleeper on Jimmy and Lenny Lane knocked Manny off the apron to keep him from making the save. The seemingly unbeatable team of Valiant and Fernandez have been knocked off by the strange combo of Riddle and Lane, who will now recieve a tag team title shot with the Road Warriors.
