World Championship Wrestlingw/your NEW hosts Jim Ross and Gordon Solie *Jim Ross and Gordon did the show open and recapped the big moments from the latest stop on the Great American Bash tour. Gordon turned attention to the huge main event coming to Atlanta when Nick Bockwinkel puts the world title on the line against Kurt Angle. Angle and Mark Henry appeared. He said Brisco and Vader got lucky again the last time they met, but that still won't stop him from winning the world title this weekend, defending it against Brisco, and going on to become the greatest of all time. It's true....you know the rest. Boogie Woogie Man Jimmy Valiant defeated Mr X.Jimmy toyed with his opponent and had fun with the fans en route to a win with the BOOGIE WOOGIE ELBOW. Following the match Jimmy spoke with Jim and Gordon. He said he was so proud of Don and Rocky Kernodle for helping him get rid of The Sinister Minister and his band of horror movie freaks. Boogie said when you play with fire you get burned and Mitchell learned the hard way. Jimmy finished by stating that he loves all the people and he's setting his goal for the rest of the year and it's to win some championship gold for all of his street people. Mr Wonderful Paul Orndorff squashed Keith Steinborn.Paul was not getting paid by the hour, as they say. He won with his JUMPING PILEDRIVER inside of a minute. The always calm and measured Paul Orndorff spoke with Jim and Gordon after the match. Not really, he was as angry as ever as he bad mouthed Brian Blair. Gordon tried to warn Paul that Blair is not to be taken lightly, and Paul grabbed Gordon by the collar to yell at him. That brought out Brian Blair and the two began to brawl all over the interview area until they were broken up by security and wrestlers, including Don and Rocky Kernodle who had to go straight from the fight to the ring for the next match. Don and Rocky Kernodle defeated Randy and Bill Mulkey.Maybe worn out from the fight moments earlier, the Kernodles had a few moments of trouble dealing with the other brothers in Randy and Bill. But just a few as they got a decisive win with the ATOMIC BOMB on Bill. Ravishing Rick Rude (w/Percy Pringle III) defeated Marcus Bagwell to defend the United States title.Bagwell, like lightning as we're told, does not strike twice. He got in a few shots early but Rude steamrolled to victory and got the pin after a RUDE AWAKENING. Rude was joined by Percy and Manny Fernandez after the match. As Percy held both tag team title belts and Rude had the US belt, Rude spoke. He said nobody makes a fool of Rick Rude and nobody gets a second chance and walks away. Manny said he heard his stupid former partner out here earlier talking about wanting title gold, but there are two studs here he can't get past no matter what and Manny would love to finish the job he started and run Boogie Man off for good. Percy said it doesn't matter if it's Valiant, American Males, or those dirt boring Kernodle brothers, there's nobody better than Rick Rude and Manny Fernandez. Bob Backlund pinned Sgt Slaughter after a distraction from Ivan Koloff, Nikita Koloff, and Iron Sheik.Sarge never got on track here. Minutes into the bout Ivan Koloff came to the ring waving the Soviet flag. He was joined by the returning Nikita Koloff and Iron Sheik. Bob used the distraction to go behind and hit and ATOMIC DROP for the pin. Damage done the Russians and the Iranian headed away as an angry Sarge charged the interview area. He said he had his suspicions but now he's convinced Bob Backlund is a turncoat and he's siding with the Koloffs and Sheik. Bob confronted the confused Marine at the interview area and denied the allegation. He said he just got done wrestling Sheik and he'll be in the ring with Koloff again in Atlanta. Sarge said he'll be in Atlanta too and he'll believe it when he sees it, but for now he's labeling Backlund a TRAITOR. For a third time lately the show ends with the pair at odds and involved in an intense staredown.
* show host change: As much as I like the Tony Schiavone and David Crockett pairing, we have cards for Jim Ross and Gordon Solie and that's a duo that can't be denied now. So it just makes sense.

The Great American Bash tourThe Omni, Atlanta, GA Boogie Woogie Man Jimmy Valiant defeated George South.South did not go down quietly, giving Valiant a little trouble in this five minute opener. In the end it was Boogie with a series of roundhouse punches to floor South for the pin. Prior to the next match, Rock Riddle came out and demanded the microphone. He then did the "reintroduction for the new and improved Disco Inferno". Disco Inferno (w/Rock Riddle) defeated Ranger Ross.New and improved Disco seemed a lot like old Disco, except he had Rock Riddle in his corner. And it paid off in the end as Ross went for the COMBAT KICK only to have Riddle provide the distraction that allowed Disco to reverse and get the pin after a swinging neckbreaker. Sgt Slaughter won by disqualification over Iron Sheik when Nikita Koloff interfered.A violent brawl of a match. In the end Sarge locked in the COBRA CLUTCh but Nikita jumped into the ring to attack and break the hold. Sarge immediately rolled to the arena floor and armed himself with a steel chair to prevent further attack. Mr Wonderful Paul Orndorff pinned Brian Blair.DUD. They traded punches at the bell with Blair coming out on top. Blair went for a hip toss but Orndorff blocked with a series of right hands and followed with a vertical suplex that knocked the wind out of Blair long enough for Orndorff to get the quick pin. Rick Rude and Manny Fernandez (w/Percy Pringle III) beat the Kernodle Brothers to defend the tag team championship.Tremendous match. Rude was in huge trouble after a series of near falls when Rocky went up to the top for a CROSS BODY BLOCK and pin. Pringle pulled the referee out of the ring to break the count. Rude took advantage of the distraction to cheap shot Rocky and tag out to Manny. Fernandez went on to get the pin after the FLYING BURRITO. Post match Rude and Fernandez attacked Don and Rocky Kernodle, hitting them with the tag team title belts. JIMMY VALIANT came out to try to put a stop to it, but he too was overcome by the double team attack of the champs. The champs left with the belts held high as Percy Pringle gloated and basked in the rain of debris being thrown by the fans. Before the next match it was annoucned that Bob Backlund is unable to appear due to a travel delay. Taking his place tonight against Ivan Koloff is Thunderbolt Patterson.Ivan Koloff defeated Thunderbolt Patterson after a TOP ROPE KNEE DROP. Hard fought match. In the end Koloff threw Patterson to the floor, ran his head into the steel ring post, and tossed him back inside for the top rope knee and pin.
Nick Bockwinkel (w/Bobby Heenan) defeated Kurt Angle to defend the NWA world title. The record title run continues, and once again the manager at ringside is to thank for it. Angle took firm control in this classic match and hit an OLYMPIC SLAM. As he celebrated before going for the pin Heenan slid Nick a foreign object under the bottom rope. As Angle got down for the cover Nick hit Angle in the face, knocking him silly. Nick recovered and locked in the BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER on Angle as he struggled to get to his feet. It was all over from there as the referee raised and lowered Angle's arm three times, declaring him unconscious and awarding the match to the champ.

World Championship Wrestlingw/ Jim Ross and Gordon Solie Jim and Gordon opened the show and welcomed NWA world champion Nick Bockwinkel with manager Bobby Heenan. Heenan boasted about how the best in the world turned back another "unbeatable challenger" in Kurt Angle and the record setting reign continues. Nick got down to business and said the next man on the agenda is the man he took the title from, Jack Brisco. Heenan laughed and said he wouldn't worry because the next thing on Brisco's agenda is a match with Mark Henry. And it's coming up next. Jack Brisco defeated Mark Henry via FIGURE FOUR.Henry jumped Brisco before the bell and was hammering him in the middle of the ring. Brisco rallied back and it was all Jack from there as he put Henry away in the middle of the ring. Brisco talked with Jim and Gordon. He said Heenan and Bockwinkel are over confident and that will be their downfall. He said Mark Henry couldn't get the job done and Jack Brisco will be cruising into the upcoming Great American Bash Pro Wrestling USA supercard as challenger, but he's leaving as a two time champion. Paul Orndorff pinned Brian Blair in a competitive match.Blair seemed to have thins won after about seven minutes when he dove off the top rope. Orndorff pulled the referee in the way and the ref went down. Blair used his AIRPLANE SPIN to set up the COBRA CLUTCH but the referee was down. Blair revived the ref, but Orndorff took the opportunity to recover and used a back suplex for the pin. Nikita Koloff pinned Mike Jackson.Jackson tried, but Nikita brushed off any attempts at offense and won by pin after the RUSSIAN SICKLE. Ivan, Nikita, and Iron Sheik went over to Jim and Gordon after the match. Ivan spoke for the group and said Sgt Slaughter must be shell shocked if the thinks they would side with someone like Bob Backlund. He said Slaughter and Backlund have yet another match tonight at Slaughter's request and the Koloffs and Iron Sheik will be there to show whose side they're really on. Big Van Vader defeated Eric The Red.Floundering without his injured manager Sinister Minister, Eric could not get any considerable offense. Vader won in about three minutes after a bone crunching splash. Following the match Prince Kharis The Mummy made his return. He lumbered halfway down the aisle and gestured towards Vader. A dozen security team members jumped in front and blocked Kraris from the ring. Eric The Red recovered and led the Mummy away. Wildfire Tommy Rich appeared for the first time in months. He spoke to Gordon and said when he couldn't win the world title from Bockwinkel because Heenan cheated and then he lost the US title to Rick Rude, it threw him into a spiral. He took off to clear his head but now after what happened to Jimmy Valiant at the hands of Rude and Fernandez, he knows he never should have left. Rich says he's back now and it's not just professional rivalry anymore with Rude and Fernandez, it's personal. He said he and Jimmy will take those tag team title belts and knock Raging and Ravishing down a peg where they belong. Sgt Slaughter won by disqualification over Bob Backlund.Bob tried to appeal to Sarge's common sense at the start of the match, but Slaughter would not listen. The fight ensued and eventually Sarge had the COBRA CLUTCH locked in. The Koloffs and Iron Sheik jumped Sarge to draw the disqualification. Backlund recovered as the foreign menace trio stomped and beat Slaughter. Bob looked on for a few seconds, then jumped out of the ring. He jumped back in with a steel chair and the Koloffs and Sheik ran from the ring. Sarge got up and stared at Backlund, asking if he was going to hit him with that chair. Backlund handed Sarge the chair and turned his back, saying he trusts Slaughter to do the right thing. Sarge spun Backlund back around, tossed the chair aside, and shook Bob's hand.

Pro Wrestling USA presents THE GREAT AMERICAN BASHAmerican Legion Memorial Stadium, Charlotte, NC Playboy Buddy Rose (w/Sherri Martel) defeated Tony "Mr USA" Atlas.Atlas looked strong early, but Rose just had his number this day. Rose put him away with the INSIDE BACKBREAKER in about five minutes. Rock N Roll Express beat Eddie and Doug Gilbert to defend the Southern tag team titles.Ricky and Robert won decisively over their rivals. Robert got the pin on Doug after a DOUBLE DROPKICK. PRINCE KHARIS THE MUMMY PINNED Big Van Vader. Yeah, there goes the neighborhood again. Vader dominated until Mummy got a little comeback, loaded up the MAGICAL MUMMY FOREARM and got the surprise pin. Kharis has now upset Magnum, Backlund, AND the one and only Vader. This dude does nothing but ruin my title plans......
Ivan and Nikita Koloff beat Bob Backlund and Sgt Slaughter. Hard fought match. In the end Nikita and Ivan used the ELEVATED RUSSIAN SICKLE on Bob to get the pin.
Percy Pringle III and Rick Rude took to the ring. Rude issued an open challenge to anyone in the building to come face him in a US title match. And Wildfire Tommy Rich responded. Wildfire Tommy Rich beat Ravishing Rick Rude to win back the US title after interference from Percy backfired. This match was great. Rich had things going his way when Percy tried to attack with a shoe. Rich grabbed the shoe from Percy and hit Rick over the head with it. He then locked in the WILDFIRE SLEEPER to make it official and became the two time US champ. Antonio Inoki pinned Masa Saito.
Saito gave it a try, but Inoki was just too much. Antonio used the ENZUIGIRI to get the pin inside of seven minutes. Nick Bockwinkel (w/Bobby Heenan) defeated Jack Brisco to retain the NWA world title.
Bockwinkel once again overcomes the odds as his reign that has been going since November 2021 continues. Jack gave it all he had, but Nick had just a little bit more in this 20 minute epic. Finally the BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER sealed the deal to give the champ another successful defense. After the bell ROWDY RODDY PIPER sauntered down to the ring. After a few tense moments he raised Nick Bockwinkel's hand, admired the title belt, and took the microphone. He said he's glad to be here in the NWA and he's glad there's such a strong champion here. He said it would be his honor to interview the champ on the first Piper's Pit on World Championship Wrestling later this week. Heenan was wary, but Nick was flattered and said he'd be glad to bestow greatness on the inaugural edition of Piper's Pit. Roddy left and the champ soaked in the jeers from the crowd as if their hate fuels him to victory.

World Championship Wrestlingw/Jim Ross and Gordon Solie The show began with Jim and Gordon being joined by Don and Rocky Kernodle. Don said every time they think they've gotten rid of the Russians they come back stronger. This time they've got Iron Sheik on their side. He brought out Sgt Slaughter and said it's time to get over all of the confusion and dissention the Russians have caused and come together to finish the job. Sarge agreed and said tonight they face Ivan, Nikita, and Sheik and he intends to make one of them a victim of the Cobra Clutch. Disco Inferno (w/Rock Riddle) defeated George South.South fought the good fight once again, but Rock Riddle yelling direction and keeping Disco focused meant the difference. Disco won it with the LAST DANCE. Ox Baker beat Ranger Ross by countout.Ox attacked at the bell and never let up. He stomped Ross and kicked him to the floor, then used the HEART PUNCH outside of the ring. Ross could not recover. Ox was joined by Eric The Red and The Mummy after the match. Ox spoke for the team and said the Sinister Minister is down but the team is not out and they are stronger than ever because the REAL power is about to reveal himself. They were interrupted by BIG VAN VADER who challenged the Mummy on the spot. Big Van Vader won by disqualification over Kharis The Mummy when Ox Baker and ONE MAN GANG interfered. This was to be expected. Mummy held his own once again but this time Vader took control and used a VADER BOMB for the cover. Ox broke it up but was quickly beaten down as well. Vader looked triumphant when ONE MAN GANG made his first appearance and attacked, putting down Vader and hitting the 747 SPLASH. Following the altercation a robed and hooded figure jumped into the ring and ordered Ox and Gang to pick up Vader. The not so mystery man produced a golden spike from his robe and brought it down on the head of Vader, producing the "crimson mask" on Vader, as Gordon would say. The dastardly team went over to Ross and Solie and the hooded figure revealed himself (and you saw this coming) as KEVIN SULLIVAN. He said the would be saviors of the NWA got rid of the Minister, but now they have to deal with the man he was praying to, the devil himself. And his team will now be known as The Dungeon Of Doom because anyone who is stupid enough to face them will have their fate sealed and nothing but pain and torment await. Raging and Ravishing (w/Percy) beat American Males to defend the world tag team title.Fantastic match and it looked for a minute like Rude's woes would continue as Bagwell nearly took the fall after a YELLOWJACKET SUPLEX. Manny got the tag however and came in to do cleanup, getting the pin after the FLYING BURRITO. An angry Rick Rude was joined by his manager and partner as he spoke to Gordon. Rude asked who Tommy Rich thinks he is walking in here after a long layoff and getting the referee on his side to call the match in his favor and steal the US title back. Rude warned that he's going to deal with Rich whether it's in the ring or outside of it and he'd better watch his back everywhere he goes. Manny chimed in and said Rich should find better backup than Jimmy Valiant too because Raging and Ravishing are gunning for them both. Piper's PitRoddy Piper sauntered out to the new Piper's Pit set and did his characteristic introductions. He then called out NWA champion Nick Bockwinkel and Bobby Heenan. He congratulated Nick on yet another win in his historic title reign and asked what's next. Nick said he will continue to do what he does better than anyone in the business and that's win matches and cash big checks. Heenan said they might as well retire the title now and name Nick the emperor of wrestling because nobody can beat him. Bob Backlund came out and said he's been chasing Bockwinkel for a rematch for months and months now, and he hasn't been pinned in a wrestling ring in all of that time. He said last time he was named number one contender Nick tried to hire bounty hunters to take him out, he played mind games, and when the belt was on the line Heenan stuck his nose in and interfered. Bob said it's time for Bockwinkel and Heenan to quit ducking and give him a title rematch in a fair fight. He demanded a cage match with Bockwinkel to settle things once and for all. Nick held his hand to his chin and pretended to contemplate the challenge, but Bobby stepped in front and said "take it to the championship committee, pal. We don't waste our time with ham and eggers like you." The duo left as Backlund fumed and Roddy Piper wrapped up the segment by telling Bob he's a much nicer man than Roddy Piper and "there are other ways to get your point across besides words". Sgt Slaughter, Don Kernodle, and Rocky Kernodle beat Ivan Koloff, Nikita Koloff, and Iron Sheik. Team USA, as they were called on commentary by Ross, took the fight to the foreign coalition right away. They never let up and it was kind of a lopsided win as Sarge put away Ivan with the COBRA CLUTCH as the Kernodle brothers kept his partners from breaking it up.

NWA Pro Wrestling house show Dothan, AL Mike Jackson defeated Wild Bill White.White started quick, peppering Jackson with punches. Jackson fired back with quick punches of his own and a running forearm smash to knock down White. Jackson climbed the buckles and came off with a cross body block for the pin. Brian Blair won by disqualification over Mr Wonderful Paul Orndorff.Another intense fight between rivals. Blair used the airplane spin to set up his cobra clutch, but Orndorff reached the ropes to escape. The action went to the floor where Orndorff slammed Blair on the announcer's table and began choking him with the microphone cord to earn the disqualification. Referees had to pull Orndorff away under threat of suspension. Don and Rocky Kernodle defeated The Koloffs when Don pinned Nikita.
Nikita was pushing around both Kernodle brothers early, and the Koloffs looked dominant. Don fired back up and made the tag to Rocky, who scored a quick near fall on Ivan. The action went back and forth from there until Don locked it down late and got the win after the ATOMIC BOMB. Raging Bull Manny Fernandez (w/Percy Pringle III) beat Boogie Woogie Man Jimmy Valiant.Valiant came in still hurting from the injury he sustained at the hands of Raging And Ravishing. Jimmy was unable to mount much offense as Manny beat on his former partner and got the decisive pin after the FLYING BURRITO. Manny grabbed a steel chair and rolled into the ring to try to finish off Valiant once and for all, but Don and Rocky Kernodle ran in to make the save and chase Manny away. Iron Sheik beat Sgt Slaughter in a Texas Death Match. Wild and bloody action as both men bled by the time the match was over. At one point Sarge had the COBRA CLUTCH on Sheik, but Sheik reared back and kicked him in the groin to break the hold. Sheik took a chair to the back of Sarge and locked in the CAMEL CLUTCH. Sarge would not submit, but passed out and the referee called for the bell.

World Championship Wrestling w/Jim Ross and Gordon Solie Gordon and Jim intro the show and go to the ring for the opening match. Brian Blair defeated Mister X with the AIRPLANE SPIN and COBRA CLUTCH.Blair had little trouble beating the masked journeyman in this three minute affair. Following the match Blair spoke with Gordon. He said the rivalry between him and Paul Orndorff has reached the boiling point. Blair mentioned the match he would have won on tv if the referee hadn't been knocked out and the disqualification win in Alabama. Blair said he wants one more shot at Orndorff in a match where there must be a clear winner. Once Blair said his piece The Rock N Roll Express made an appearance. Ricky said the southern tag team champions have their eyes on world tag team gold and that's in the hands of Rick Rude and Manny Fernandez. Don and Rocky Kernodle cut them off. Don said they've been holding it down here lately and after their big win against the Koloffs they deserve the next title shot. Robert countered by saying they could wrestle later in the show to decide who the real top contender is. The team shook hands and made it official. World tag team champions Raging and Ravishing beat the Mulkey Brothers. Not much of a competition as the champs dismantled the Mulkey Brothers. Rude got the pin after a piledriver on Randy. Following the match the champs spoke with Jim and Gordon. Rude said they are coming out of the woodwork to try to get a piece of the champs, but it's a fools game to try to beat the best. It can't happen. Manny spoke about how they ruined Jimmy Valiant with the beatdown they laid on him and he'll never be the same, and that's what will happen to either the Rock N Roll Express or the Kernodles if they're dumb enough to get in the ring with the champs. One Man Gang (w/Kevin Sullivan) pinned Ranger Ross.Ross gave Gang some trouble, but OMG was just too big and strong to overcome. Gang put him away with a face first suplex and pin. Kevin Sullivan cut a macabre post match interview afterwards. He said Vader was just the first unfortunate victim in the Dungeon Of Doom's rise to the top. Sullivan promised many more surprises and a world of hurt and disappointment to anyone who stands in their way. Piper's Pit commenced after the commercial break, with Roddy welcoming his guest Jack Brisco. Roddy delved into the history between Jack and world champ Nick Bockwinkel and then asked why Jack keeps trying to beat a man who clearly has his number. Jack was not happy with the line of questioning and things escalated to Jack challenging Piper to get in the ring and back up his big mouth. Roddy warned Brisco that he's way more than a mouth and more than man enough to handle any challenge that comes his way. Roddy said maybe it is time for him to step in the ring here and maybe HE will be the one to take that world title from Bockwinkel since nobody else has been able to do so. Iron Sheik won by disqualification over Tommy Rich in a US title match.Great match. Tommy had things going his way until Sheik loaded up the boot and took him down with a well placed kick. Sheik spit on Tommy, then spit at the US flag hanging from the rafters before locking in the CAMEL CLUTCH. Sgt Slaughter would not allow that to stand and ran in to attack Sheik, leading the the DQ. Sarge tried to apologize to Tommy after the match, but Rich said Sarge needs to control himself better. He said Sheik has gotten under his skin so bad he's making bad decisions. Slaughter admitted this is true and said he's going to get rid of that scum/slime/maggot/puke if it's the last thing he does. Rock N Roll Express beat Don and Rocky Kernodle. A+ tag team action. The Kernodle brothers nearly won after a CROSS BODY by Rocky on Ricky, but it was not to be. In the end Ricky pinned Rocky after a DOUBLE DROPKICK.

NWA Pro Wrestling live from Macon, GA Mark Fleming defeated Keith SteinbornSolid five minute opening match showcase for the newcomer Fleming, who got the win with his STF. After the introductions for the next match, manager Rock Riddle was harassing referee Morgan Dollar to the point Dollar ejected Riddle and barred everyone from ringside. Sam Houston pinned Disco Inferno.Inferno was lost without his mentor calling the shots from ringside. Same got the win in about eight minutes after a running lariat. Disco was protesting the decision in the ring after the match and refused to leave. The participant for the next match Miss Jacqueline came out, grabbed Disco by the hair from behind, and tossed him out of the ring. Securtiy stepped in and escorted Disco away. Jacqueline defeated Shirley Black with the FLOATOVER DDT. Black started with the advantage and worked over the left arm. Jackie made her comeback and ended up getting the pin after a devestating DDT.
Don Kernodle won by diqualification over One Man Gang (w/Kevin Sullivan). Gang seemed more interested in causing damage than getting the win. When things started to not go his way Gang tossed Kernodle out of the ring and followed. He slammed Don on the floor, then tossed him into the steel ring post. The referee tried to step in but got tossed aside for his efforts. The ref called for the bell, but Gang threw Kernodle back into the ring and gave him the 747 SPLASH anyway as Sullivan laughed maniacally.
Iron Sheik defeated Wildfire Tommy Rich to win the United States championship. Main event caliber match in the main event position. Who knew? Bad outcome, but what can you do with these dice right? In the end Sheik loaded up the boot and kicked Rich to set up the CAMEL CLUTCH. Rich would not submit but the referee finally stepped in and called the match.
