Great intro for Harley Race.

Sam Houston pinned Thunderfoot#1 after a BULLDOG.
NOthing special here in the opening match. Thunderfoot tried to pour on the offense at the bell, but Houston quickly countered and picked up the win.

Before the next match, referee Morgan Dollar called for everone at ringside to be banned and sent Rock Riddle to the back.

Brad Armstrong defeated Disco Inferno.
Very solid match. Both men had their chance to win, but in the end Brad hit a big dropkick to score the pin in roughly ten minutes.

Jimmy Valiant, Thunderbolt Patterson, and Tomm Rich won by DQ over One Man Gang, Eric The Red, and Ox Baker.
Nice six man tag team action. Lots going on here until the bout went to the floor and broke down. Eric tried to introduce the bone into the proceedings and the referee was having none of it and called for the bell.

Rock N Roll Express beat The Koloffs to defend the tag team championship.
A big win for the tag team champs as they hit the DOUBLE DROPKICK on Ivan for the pin in around eight minutes.

Macho Man Randy Savage pinned Kharis The Mummy to defend the world title.
Big main event as Randy defended the title for the first time. Kharis was primed and ready and gave Randy all he could handle. The action was all over the place for over twelve minutes and Kharis gave the champ some tense moments. FInally Randy hit the double axe handle from the top to the floor to set up the FLYING ELBOW and the pin as Kevin SUllivan failed to distract the referee.

World Championship Wrestling
w/Jim Ross and Gordon Solie

Jim and Gordon opened the show and were joined by Hacksaw Jim Duggan. He said Bobby Heenan and his dirty stable of wrestlers went too far last week. Harley Race made it loud and clear that he's back too, but Hacksaw Duggan will be coming for him.

Johnny Mantell defeated Hacksaw Duggan thanks to Harley Race.
Well, Hacksaw is 0-2 on his return in tV matches. Mantell attacked at the bell, but Hacksaw came back. Johnny shut him down again and threw him out of the ring. Harley Race showed up and suplexed Hacksaw on the floor, then tossed him back into the ring where Mantell got the pin after a Russian Leg Sweep.

After the bell Duggan recovered and attacked Race. The two brawled all over the place and out of the building.

Roddy Piper was interviewed about his main event US title match with Rick Rude. Roddy said "Rick Rudd" thinks he's a stud, but he's really a dud, and Roddy Piper send him back to waiting in line for the Magnum PI stand in job by the end of the night.

the American Males came out to provide commentary for the next match.

Don and Rocky Kernodle beat Bill White and Frank Dalton.
Dalton and White were tough, but the Kernodle brothers were up for the challenge. The end came with the ATOMIC BOMB on Dalton for the pin.

After the match Bagwell and Riggs said they weren't impressed and challenged the Kernodles to face them next week.

World champion Randy Savage was interviewed by Bill Apter. Randy said the world turns and turns and keeps on turning and changing, but the MAcho Man is the one constant. He said the now two time champion is up to any challenge Bobby Heenan, Kevin Sullivan, or any other would be world conqueror can throw at him. 

The Spoiler beat Thunderbolt Patterson with the BIONIC CLAW.
The personal rivalry continues. This time Spoiler picked up the impressive TV win in about five minutes.

In a pre taped segment, Kevin Sullivan was in a cave like setting flanked by Missing Link and One Man Gang. He said the world wants to know what happened to Big Van Vader since Starrade. He said Vader is in re-education and he will come back as the strongest member of the Dungeon Of Doom when he's done. Then nobody in the NWA will be safe from the destruction the Dungeon Of Doom will reap upon the world.

Apache Bull Ramos squashed George South with the APACHE ELBOW DROP.
Ramos made an impressive debut, winning in under  30 seconds. At the lockup Ramos used a brutal eye rake, knocked SOuth down, the hit the Apache elbow for the pin.

In a post match interview Apache Bull Ramos told Gordon he's the one and only big chief of professional wrestling. He told Gordon everyone else pretending at the roll can step up and face the real Apache Chief in a bullrope match if the want to find out what they're made of. 

Roddy Piper and Rick Rude wrestled to a double countout in a US title match.
Stellar main event. Rude seemed to have it won a couple of time, but Roddy could not be pinned. The action went to the outside and the referee could not restore order. He ruled it a double coutout (double DQ roll on out of the ring). 

After the match an irate Rick Rude talked to Jim Ross. He said Roddy just saved his US title for now, but not for long because Rick Rude is still the uncrowned champ. Bobby Heenan showed up and told Rick to come with him. He said he's made a deal with Percy Pringle that will make them both very rich and make Rick a future and once again champion, and nothing that idiot Roddy Piper does can stop them.

Pretty obvious why I decided to break out the Bull Ramos bootleg, huh? 😆 I set that angle up with the subtlety of a hammer to the head. Even if Wahoo is a little late arriving in the territory I get a few good weeks out of Bull first.

I've been wanting Wahoo since the black and white era so a lot of people are going to get chopped down in short order.

Tiger Conway Jr pinned Bill White after the FLYING HEAD BUTT.
Solid opening match. White was tough as usual, but Conway put it into high gear to get the pin around the five minute mark.

Before the next match Bull Ramos corrected the ring announcer and insisted he be referred to as "Big Chief" Bull Ramos.

Self proclaimed "Big Chief" Bull Ramos beat Sam Houston.
Hard fought win for Ramos, who got the pin in roughly eight minutes after his APACHE ELBOW DROP.

Disco Inferno (w/Rock Riddle) beat Mike Rotundo.
Rock's distraction from ringside comes into play again, as Disco turned it around and got the win via pinfall in a fairly short match.

Wildfire Tommy Rich defeated Ox Baker.
A hard hitting affair, as Rich and Ox tore it up all over the ringside area. Rich got the advantage and slapped on the WILDFIRE SLEEPER for the victory in about ten minutes.

Nikita Koloff pinned Sgt Slaughter in a no disqualification match.
A much shorter match than I'd have liked. Good action that ended out of nowhere when Sarge ate it in the corner and turned around into a RUSSIAN SICKLE to give Nikita the pinfall win. Sarge may need to start training with Arnold Skaaland to get that turnbuckle skill up a little bit if he has a chance of finally breaking into the upper ranks here.

World Championship Wrestling
w/Jim Ross and Gordon Solie


Gordon and Jim opened the show and talked about the big main event between Jimmy Valiant and One Man Gang. JR mentioned how Valiant finally finished one piece of business at Starrcade and walked into an even more dangerous situation when he crossed the Dungeon Of Doom. 

"Chief" Bull Ramos (w/Johnny Mantell) defeated Mike Jackson after the APACHE ELBOW DROP.
Mantell surprised the fans by showing up with Ramos for the first time. Mike Jackson was tough as always, but Bull finally put him away in about five minutes.

After the match Mantell and Ramos spoke to Gordon. Mantell said he's partnering up with Ramos so they can get the attention they deserve. He spoke of his big "clearly clean win" over Hacksaw Duggan last week and put Ramos over as the greatest native American in the sport. Ramos again said he's the only real chief in wrestling, to which Gordon replied "One man on his way into World Championship Wrestling very soon may dispute that claim. And that man is Chief Wahoo McDaniel." Ramos roared in anger and said Wahoo is pretender. Mantell warned that he'd be waiting to test McDaniel first and if he can stand even half a chance then MAYBE he can face the Bull.

Harley Race (w/Bobby Heenan) defeated Mark Fleming.
Fleming is tough and gave Harley all he could handle. In the end Harley used the PILEDRIVER, then followed up with a VERTICAL SUPLEX for the pin.

Following the bout Hacksaw Duggan ran out and attacked Harley. They once again brawled all over and had to be separated. 

Jim Ross interviewed Rock Riddle, Disco Inferno, and Chyna. Rock said all he does is manage champions. Ross disputed that but Rock insisted Disco Inferno is the unofficial television champion and Chyna is the intergender champion. Disco said he'd put his television title on the line next week against Brad Armstrong and Riddle made the challenge for any man with the guts to step in the ring with Chyna. 

Thunderbolt Patterson pinned Spoiler after a HEAD BUTT.
A somewhat short but action packed match. Patterson surprised Spoiler with a head butt and got the pin on his first attempt.

Rock N Roll Express did a short "good guy" type interview. Ricky talked about living the rock and roll lifestyle all over the country as the world tag team champions. Robert said they'd be watching the next match very closely because they always have their eyes on potential tag team title challengers. 

Don and Rocky Kernodle beat American Males when Don pinned Riggs.
Things were looking real bad for the Kernodle brothers as Rocky was absorbing a lot of punishment. He made the tag out to Don and Don cleaned house, getting the pin afer the TOP ROPE CLOTHESLINE before Bagwell could break it up.

Piper's Pit saw Roddy joined by world champion Randy Savage. Roddy said they seem to have a similar problem in Bobby The Weasel and his minions. Roddy said Rick Rudd is whining about the match they had and now he hears Paul Orndorff is making noise about challenging Savage. Savage was not concerned. He said Heenan can set them all up and he'll knock them down one by one. Heenan showed up alone and said he didn't want any trouble. He challenged the US champ and the world champ to show up next week and back up their mouths in a tag team match against Rick Rude and Paul Orndorff. Roddy laughed, then got serious, glared at Heenan and said "you're on!". Randy spun around a few times, pointed directly into the face of Heenan, and answered "oooooh, yeah".

One Man Gang won by disqualification over Jimmy Valiant.
Jimmy hammered away at Gang, but could not knock him down. Gang fought back and the action went to the floor. Valiant moved out of the way of a splash into the corner post on the floor, then grabbed a chair and swung. Gang barely moved out of the way in time and headed for the back as Valiant took the chair into the ring and dared him to come back and finish things.

Fayetteville, North Carolina

Mike Rotundo defeated Bob Cook.
A solid opening contest. Cook made a good showing for himself, but Rotundo picked up the win with the AIRPLANE SPIN and pin in about five minutes.

Chief Bull Ramos (w/Johnny Mantell) beat Tiger Cownay Jr.
Junior surprised Ramos at the bell and nearly got a flash pin, but Ramos came right back and used his considerable size advantage to wear down Conway en route to the pinfall victory as his partner in crime Mantell watched from ringside.

Jimmy Valiant and Tommy Rich won by disqualification over Missing Link and One Man Gang (w/Kevin Sullivan).
Mayhem from the start as Valiant squared off with Gang and Rich fought with Link at the opening bell. Tommy got the quick advantage on Link and went for the pin but Sullivan came in and broke it up. The teams fought back and forth and it spilled to the floor yet again, as it mostly does with these guys involved, and this time it was Gang for was disqualified for trying to use a chair on Valiant. This was a role reversal from their main event this past week on World Championship Wrestling. Stipulations must come of this!

Cuban Assassin was introduced to the fans and took the microphone. He ran down the country and  the US military (a big no-no in Fayetteville obviously). He was interrupted by Sgt Slaughter. The two began to fight and the referee called for the bell.

Sgt Slaughter beat Cuban Assassin with the COBRA CLUTCH.
Fidel made a great showing for himself in his first match here. He took it to Sarge and nearly got a pin with FIDEL'S BACKBREAKER, but Slaughter rallied and locked in he COBRA CLUTCH for the much needed decisive win. 

Harley Race pinned Hacksaw Duggan after FOUR PILEDRIVERS.
Great main event action. Hacksaw fought with all he had, but Harley took over in the end. He used the piledriver, but Hacksaw got his foot on the ropes to break. Race went to it again, but Hacksaw barely kicked out. Frustrated Race went for the move AGAIN, this time on the arena floor. Surely Hacksaw was done, but he barely made it back in before the referee's count reached ten. Harley covered but Duggan raised a shoulder. Harley went for a shoulder breaker, but Duggan slipped out the back and used a big body slam to show he still had some fight. It was a last ditch effort though as Harley withstood a few punches by Duggan and used a back suplex and a fourth piledriver to finally get the pin. 

Quick notes:
- As it stands, the ever evolving and rotating cast of characters known as the Dungeon Of Doom includes Kevin Sullivan, Missing Link, One Man Gang, Ox Baker, and Eric The Red. Nord has not been seen in some time and Kharis the Mummy needed to go dust himself off somewhere after a far more impressive run than anyone expected. 
- Iron Sheik has similarly taken leave after his surprise run as US champ to give some other foreign menaces a chance.
- On the other side of the fence, both Jack Brisco and Bob Backlund have gone elsewhere for now after their unsuccessful outings against Paul Orndorff so I can put the focus on some other main event worthy wrestlers for a while. 
- We still don't really know what's going on with Vader, but we'll find out soon enough. 

Coming up next the big "Christmas Card" of the year featuring Roddy Piper versus Rick Rude in a US title match and The Rock N Roll Express versus Don and Rocky Kernodle for the tag team championship. Plus much more, of course and obviously.
